I LOVE Publix so much. I grew up in FL and shopped at Publix frequently. I moved to the Northeast years ago, where shopping is 'definitely NOT a pleasure'. My daughter lives in New Smyrna Beach now so when I visit this is the store I shop in. Amazingly clean, well stocked and merchandised. The employees are quite pleasant and welcoming. They have everything you need to fit your grocery shopping needs. Love a good BOGO as well (Buy One, Get One). Great place to shop, highly recommend. read more

Publix is a wonderful supermarket chain in Florida. They have just about everything imaginable. Lots of thing we cannot get in SoCal. The best thing is thier Key Lime pie!!! The best pie ever and you cannot get this pie in California. The employees are so friendly and helpful, again a rather nice change from some of our local chains in CA. read more

Stopped in for the pub subs today. Had the slowest service ever. I think we waited in line for 20 minutes with 2 people ahead of us. I had the chicken bacon ranch - would give it a 6/10 because it needed more sauce and the bacon cut up. Boyfriend got a CYO turkey and said it was great. Will be trying again another day on our trip! read more

Who's not enforcing COVID19 safety? Apparently Publix. In my one 18 minute visit here I saw: * an employee enter and walk halfway through the store, past the pharmacy, and into the door marked "authorized personnel only" with NO mask (I even mentioned it to her and she smiled and walked by me) * a customer walk in with no mask and browse in the cereal aisle. I pointed her out to an employee who spent over a minute to go get her a mask, and then, when he retuned to her, she was handed the mask in a baggie, and he walked off. She never put on the mask. There were elderly shoppers near her. * another woman entered with her 7-9 year old, neither wearing masks, and walked by me at pharmacy. When I pointed this out to pharmacy staff they said they'd call customer service to go bring them masks. I also said to this lady "please wear a mask to shop" and she just grimaced and kept pushing her cart. Spoke to the manager and was told that none of his employees was going to do more than hand out a mask and walk away. Apparently the specter of violence from the entitled, non-scientific few has led to this meek response (and I certainly don't blame employees for not wanting to get beaten up). When asked why Publix doesn't then hire security to enforce mask wearing, he said that is not Publix policy. His attitude was resigned and dismissive. Very disappointing, but also understand it sounds like he's in a bad position. However, if manager's stance is in line w his bosses' dictates, then corporate at Publix needs to make the right choice and to enforce mask wearing for the safety of their employees as well as other shoppers. Cannot come to this store again, nor any Publix, if they aren't going to do their part to actively enforce mask wearing. TL/dr: Publix allows shoppers to not wear masks. read more

This is another great Publix in the New Smyrna Beach area! The store is completely spotless and everything is fully stocked. You are always greeted by a smiling face when walking into the store and the staff is very willing to help. In addition, there is a huge variety of products and services. It is definitely one of the largest stores in the area. Like most Publix's they have a great bakery. But this Publix also has a salad bar full of fresh vegetables and other cold salad options. In addition, there is a whole row of ready to-go salads, meals and sandwiches. They also participate in $5 sushi Wednesday. Who doesn't love that? All in all this is another great Publix. I think i've had the worst experience at publix today. I always love publix customer service but today I would call it the absolute worst. I had Bill as my cashier and he was so rude. As soon as we got there the lady who bagged for him points at us and talks about us. Then he doesn't say hello back to me when i said it first. He then ignores me when i ask him how he is doing. This particular Publix is as good as it gets! Frankly, I drive over to this "beachside" Publix from Port Orange, as it is the best! The store is very easy to access, and I am made to feel welcomed by everyone who works here. When you walk in the door, it even SMELLS fresh! No "off" odors. The selection is perhaps a little more upscale than other Publix stores, but the prices remain reasonable. One aspect I like is that the CLIENTELE is MUCH NICER than I see in Port Orange! Nice, courteous people, just doing their marketing. Lots of smiles, "thank-you's" and "excuse-me's." The beer section is very extensive and includes some interesting micro-brews that are not seen elsewhere. The cashiers have a genuine smile and warmth, and I can tell that they like doing what they are doing, and they appreciate my shopping there. Nice store with nice people. I'll be back! read more

I am only giving 4 stars because I love this Publix a ton. Always a great group of people working. Also great communication. Except for today while I was at the deli. I waited in line (there was a clear line). Kevin (the person of interest) kept looking at me and knew I was next. He decided to repeatedly skip over me and take everyone else. I said he skipped me and he ignored me. So finally another came to work the counter and finally took me. I said thank you for taking me and that his fellow coworker (Kevin) decided to keep skipping me when he knew I hadn't been helped. 0/10 service from Kevin but 10/10 to the guy who came later to help at the counter. read more

At $5 you'd think you'd get something a little better than this chewy bread, welfare cheese, processed bunch-o-ham and the little bit of lettuce leaf that looks like it fell on the floor and was stepped on for a few hours before someone picked it up and put it in this thing that Publix sells as a "sandwich". Seriously, stop in at the gas station and pick up lunch that is bound to be fresher and made with more care than these Publix Deli products. read more

Nice store on beachside always clean and well stocked they offer things the other one on 44 doesn't they cater more to the beach goers and people staying in the condos. Always friendly people nice bakery and good produce and they make awesome sub sandwiches at the deli. They are a little pricey compared to the other location but not to bad for the convenience. It's crowded during snowbird and vacation season but plenty of parking always a good choice. read more

My wife and I have shopped this Publix for many years and recently had an awful experience. We decided to try out their Italian sandwich, we had it previously but had not tried it for at least a year. It was the Boars Head meat and cheese on a multi grain roll. I have them toast the meat and cheese and then load it with "fresh" veg. or at least what we thought was fresh. We ate both of these sandwiches for lunch/dinner and later that evening suffered the effects, food poisoning like symptoms and we did have to go to Quick Care at the local hospital. Based on the labs and our symptoms they did decide it was food poisoning. Please be aware of this awful experience. I will not buy this product from this store ever again. read more

Very surprised I'm the first to review this Publix. New Smyrna does have two locations...one before and one after the bridge. This one is after...closest to the beach. Which is why it's the one I tend to go to. It's also a fabulous Publix. Very clean, employees are always helpful/friendly and they are fully stocked with vacation foods, toys, floats, etc. Overall...a fantastic grocery store close to the beautiful beach. Very disappointed in a decision you've made. I am vegan and have shopped almost exclusively at Publix. Today when I visited your store the quantity and variety of plant based products was minuscule and was moved from the frozen meat section where everyone knew where they were to a very small section in a totally different part of the store with the bagged ice. It's like you don't want your customs to make healthier food choices and not ones that promote heart disease & stroke. Plant based meat & dairy are the future and Publix should be giving them the space and easy access they deserve. Decisions like this lead companies down the wrong path and could soon lead to the fate of other retailers who failed to adapt to market changes like Sears & K-Mart. I love Publix but this decision has already caused me to shop more at Heath's right across the street and I will continue to do so until this changes. Another chain that I don't have around my area so I had to stop in when I saw one nearby. Prices seemed a bit expensive - more than the Winn-Dixie that I visited. Store was in good shape - nothing looked dirty and even though it was fairly busy you never felt crowded. They had a nice alcohol selection and we picked up some beer brands that we don't have around here and which tasted great. I also found a good selection of seltzer water. I'd go again - nothing bad to say and nothing earth shattering to report about this location! read more

This is a review of the reopened Publix on Hwy 44 New Smyrna Beach. The store was very nice. New salad bar. New eating area by the floral/bakery area was a good idea however it needs better lighting and maybe some greenery to make it more welcoming. Also one negative for me was no sale items near the entrance/front area of store like the beachside store. I'm mobility challenged and like having sale items near entrance and checkouts so I don't have to walk the entire store every visit. read more

I love this place! I moved here last year and this is the best grocery store I've ever been to. Fresh sushi daily, with $5 sushi on Wednesday. The bakery is amazing- if you haven't tried the almond cheesecake horns you haven't lived! The employees are always friendly despite the hordes of tourists that go through the store daily wearing only bathing suits and the distinct odor of Eau de booze . Fresh food. Clean store. Wonderful staff. I purchased mostly fresh foods and it was all delicious, vibrant and competitively priced. The fish counter personnel were knowledgeable and I made great purchases for clams, shrimp, ahi, sword fish, and cod. Few other incidentals were firewood, toiletries, marinara and nuts. The bulk nuts seemed a bit overpriced and the pharmacy left much to be desired. But overall, I'd be back. They have everything you need and a few substitutes if you can find exactly that. This review only pertains to Publix Greenwise New York Strip steaks and Greenwise ground chuck found at the New Smyrna Beach, FL Publix stores. Soon after the new CEO was hired, the weekly Publix advertisement circular went from a very nice glossy paper to a rough and poor looking paper. I hoped that this was not a harbinger of things come. Some time later, I noticed that the quality of "regular New York strip steaks and ground chuck had gone from good to poor. In pursuit of good meat I started buying the Greenwise steaks and ground chuck. And all too soon, I found the quality of these items had also gone down hill: too much gristle in the steaks (if I can't chew it, I don't swallow it). The ground chuck became very tough; too tough for hamburgers. Also, for three consecutive week ends I found small pieces of very hard white bone in my hamburger. I did tell the meat manager, but was told that he had no other complaints, but he did appear to be upset over my complaint. And, yes I do chew my meat very thoroughly. So I quit purchasing my meat at Publix. But, alas, the New York strip steaks at Gaff's also went down hill, however, Gaff's ground chuck is still good. So what to do? Well, in my search I noted that Walmart's New York steaks looked very good and they were for a very few months. My last two purchases of steaks from Walmart were terrible: too much gristle and poor taste. They ended up in the trash. Walmart's ground chuck is just as tough as Publix's. Giving up eating steak until a find a good source. Maybe this is why we have internet shopping. So what is going on here? To me, it seems as though there is a general down grade by local stores in the quality of their meat. Seems like price fixing to me. FYI, the choice category of meats has around four sub categories. I think we are now at the lowest grade or below. Other odd things happening at Publix: Beware the publix labeled bleach. I had to redo an entire section of cedar fence with Walmart bleach in order to remove mildew. Just to make sure the Publix bleach was to blame I did the rest of my fence with Walmart bleach and it was satisfactory. And one last strange thing. I purchased a Springer chicken labeled as weighing 3.79 pounds. Later, I thought it seemed somewhat heavy and prior to putting it on my grill I weighed it: 5.25 pounds. This might have been good luck for some folks, but I like my chicken under 4 pounds. Mistake or employee revenge? Good news: the Publix employees are still great. read more

I do most my grocery shopping here. Love the sample lady when she is cooking, always good ideas and flavorful options for a meal. Unfortunately, they are a bit pricey but uave a good selection, particularly the fruits and veggies. The grocer gave me a hard time about splitting a large bok choy one day which was surprising to me. Its just 2 of us and i only needed a few stalks. I ended up buying the whole thing, but now i go to Perrines for all my veggies which is both cheaper and fresher. read more

It's the Saturday night shuffle! Check in at condo, grab the list and head to Publix. Every year I think "I could drive to walmart and save some $$", but we always end up at Publix. And I am always reminded why. They have the best customer service, bar none! I'm in there after 10:00 (closing time) and every employee asks me if they can help me find something. They were cleaning and organizing shelves with smiles on their faces. One of the managers helped unload my cart to,check out and another helped put it n the car. My daughter and her husband both came down with strep throat. After a visit to a Care Center, my wife suggested using the Publix Pharmacy, since it's so close. I arrived at 9am, just when it opened. No one else was waiting, so I hoped for a quick fill of the prescription, so they could feel, some relief from the pain. The lady at the window said it would take 20-25 minutes, as my daughter and husband were new to the system. After 2 more trips to the window to check on things, I finally got the meds just after 10am. I told the pharmacist and his assistant, when I finally got the meds, that it was a very long wait. They said they thought I was outside, but most of the time I was in the waiting area (which they say they cannot see from the pharmacy). Customer service appears to be very low on their priorities. read more

What's with the attitude? I don't shop at your store to often so don't act like I know where everything's at. When I asked an employee for assistance to find something he just pointed out in a direction and said its over there? OK, I looked in that area and didn't not see it. I returned to that employee again and said I didn't see it. Then the nasty talk came out like didn't I ask someone else in that area for it? WTF? So we both walked over to look for it and he said repeatedly why didn't you ask him, or that guy over there where it was as if I was bothering him to help me. Once he found the item he pointed it out and said is this it. I said " yes thank you. As we both walked away a fellow employee approached him and said what's that about. He responded by saying " This idiot over there needed help finding an item and pointed back towards me! My shopping cart was half full at the time. With perishables too. I rolled that cart into the bakery were that employee came from threw him my middle finger up at him said don't ever talk about a customer like that again. Left the cart and the store! Never felt so humiliated. I not going to just complain, I'm going to complain and through this place under the bus anytime I get. Starting with my first yelp review. read more
