Publix Aprons Cooking School is gone
    Erin G.

When this Publix opened it was advertised as one of their flagship stores. It has a lot of shelf space and featured a cooking school, which sadly is now kaput. On a recent visit I noticed major renovations are underway and some departments have been scaled back. Gone: -Aprons Cooking school -Extended premium cookware and tools adjacent to the cooking school -Ice cream and dessert bar -Olive bar -Hot food bar Reduced selection: -The gourmet cheese selection is greatly reduced -Beer section has no craft beer. Wine section seems unchanged. While some areas such as craft beer and the hot bar could return after renovations, most other service and selection remain unchanged. You can always try the Publix across the street on Sand Lake. I have not noticed classes scheduled for some time but I always had fun evenings at the cooking school. I for one am hoping for a 'Pours' which is Publix's version of a coffee, smoothie, beer and wine bar.

    Double meat Pub sub!
    Mark P.

Who doesn't love a Pub sub with double meat for the win?! Was in just for that while working in the area and they delivered exceptionally. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is one of your nicer Publixes with a whole lot more on offer than the one near me in Mills50.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sure wish it was here when I lived in the area. Used to have to drive out to Kissimmee or Winter Garden back in the day before the area's first Publix went in up the street on Sandlake.

My daughter recommended trying Publix for a cheesesteak sub. I was a little doubting since I didn't know how they would make it hot. It turned out great. Chrisla did an awesome job and I had her make it without any direction other than the ingredients I wanted. I loved the way the roast beef was sliced fresh before it was all made. Got it to go and it was still warm when I got it home. Thanks Publix for a great experience.

KUDOS, and thank you so much to Vanessa for excellent customer service in the bakery department! She is super friendly, honest, and very knowledgeable! She helped me choose what turned out to be the best frosted sliced lemon cake for our group at church! The bakery department is so clean and organized! Vanessa is such an asset to Publix!

This is our favorite Publix - there is one slightly closer to us but everything you need is here in this shopping center! The stores always stocked, clean, and staff friendly. A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO SHANNON IN THE SEAFOOD DEPARTMENT - he has been amazing for many many years. We always ask him what we should get and never once been steered wrong! The deli department makes the best buffalo chicken sub you will EVER eat!! No complaints! Great store!

We stopped here after dinner to pick up a few essentials. Store was super clean and organized. We were able to quickly find what we came for. Cashier was super friendly and thankfully warned us that the conveyor belt was dirty before we placed our items down. It seems like there is a Publix on every block in Orlando, and this one seems to be doing a good job of keeping customers happy and coming back!

This particular location, the Publix near Lake Eola, is not a location I shop FREQUENTLY, but it is one that I pass through more than some other locations. It is centrally located, making it fairly easy to get to. It has FREE parking underground - which is a perk in that area because street parking, pending the day and time, can get a bit tricky to find. The staff is usually always kind. Since it is near Lake Eola, this location does get a lot of foot traffic, so at times, it can get congested. It is a bit smaller than some other locations, but again, you can get a good amount of what you need here. Outside of that, it's your standard grocery store.

I ended up having a little cheat day and enjoyed a delicious soft serve with fresh strawberries -- it was so good! The staff members were very friendly, especially the cashier who helped me at the register. Her smile felt so genuine, and it honestly made me want to come back again. I even decided to pick up some peanut butter while I was there. The store was very clean and well organized, which made shopping comfortable and enjoyable. I shop at other grocery stores too, but this place is definitely becoming one of my favorites. You can also bring your own reusable bags, which is a nice bonus. The parking lot can be a little difficult on weekends, but overall I highly recommend this place!

I live about two…read morehours away, and whenever I'm in Orlando I usually get sucked into the whole Disney Springs vibe and never make it to all the other amazing local businesses. This trip, though, there was absolutely no Disney involved -- and we finally stopped here on our way home Sunday morning. I feel like you know you're getting older when you get excited about grocery shopping. Normally when I go to Publix, I'm irritated before I even get inside. But this place? A completely different experience. Walking through and seeing all the locally grown vegetables and the meat selection -- clearly labeled as hormone-free and without all the extra junk you get at typical grocery stores -- was honestly mind-blowing. The prices were so reasonable I couldn't believe it. I purposely brought a cooler for the two-hour drive home, and even with everything I bought, I didn't spend over $100. If I had purchased the same items at Publix, I'm convinced I would've been close to (or over) $200. Beyond the prices, the quality and overall vibe made it so enjoyable. You're not breaking the bank feeding your family, and you feel good knowing you're getting better-quality food. The staff was incredibly sweet and genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs. I was looking for boneless chicken, and one of the employees asked if that's what I needed. A few minutes later, he came back with multiple packs in his hands to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and I really appreciated it. One thing to know: the produce and meat sections are in two separate, unconnected rooms, so you check out separately in each. And if you're still riding that high from all the money you saved, there's soft-serve ice cream outside with seating -- which just makes the experience even better. For someone who truly despises grocery shopping, this was actually fun. I will absolutely make a special trip to Orlando just to come back here -- and next time, I'm bringing a bigger cooler.

While yes, it has quite a lovely exterior and by comparison it is a larger than average footprint, it's just so crowded at all times. And because the parking is so egregious, you're just out in a bad mood from the get go. I've had visits where I had to circle the lot for more than 20 min just to find parking. It's the tourist TJ and I'm sure that's a massive contributor to how busy it is but out of the two I try to avoid this location at all costs. I find it confusing too because this was my go-to grocery store when I did my College Program in 2019 at the height of Trader Joe's mania and it was never as busy as it always is now. I'm watching the map and it says he's finally 4 minutes away... then I get a text saying "delivery attempted." !!!! I text the driver Marcellus and he blatantly ignored me for 20 minutes. How many seniors shop at Walmart????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Here's the funny thing, one of my very first jobs 22 years ago was an overnight Walmart associate in KY where I'm from.... I KNOW Walmart policy inside & out. Management & Marcellus basically ignoring a customer goes against pretty much the entire mission statement, employee expectations, all of it. I canceled my W+ membership in the parking lot. I had used it quite often in the past 2 years but oh well. I'm still just blown away. I know I'm not one to mince my words, but I stand by what I said bc there would have been consequences for both the manager & Marcellus at the store I worked at.
