I normally go to this Publix if I need to get groceries after a nice meal out. Since it at the Marketplace, it's very easy to walk after eating in a restaurant. The store is clean and pretty spacious. I used to enjoy the Apron classroom demonstrations, but I don't think they have it anymore. The staff are pretty polite and helpful. The store is not as upscale as Fresh Market, but still looks a bit nicer than other Publixs. It does get a bit crowded sometimes, but never overboard. Even though there is another Publix across the street in another strip mall, this is the better one as it is bigger and have more restaurants and shops nearby. Overall: B+ read more

Publix on Bahia in Ocala isn't that great, and I must say the others aren't any better. Bad quality chicken wings with feathers, nasty subs or any sandwich I've tried from them. Dry fried chicken tender sandwich. Inedible. I don't bother buying any of their premade stuff. Even the cocktail sauce they have with their cocktail shrimp isn't good. Yeah, cocktail sauce? They even cheaped out on cocktail sauce. Really? They can't even use a decent cocktail sauce. I could never work for Publix. I'd be embarrassed to sell their low quality stuff to anyone. I wish I had a nickel for all the lousy fresh produce I had to threw out. Tasteless! Happens too much. I go to the flea market or Aldi. I have gotten much better at these places. Publix is overpriced & overrated. I might go there if I need some good ice cream like Tillamook cherry vanilla. But nothing much else. I can buy staples at Walmart at a decent price. They need to make it better. A lot better. I hope someone who's in charge does something about it. It's just so wrong to do this to their customers. Shame on them. read more

I popped in to get just a few things! Even with bogo's I spent over $80. It just seems like I can't get out of there for less than $50 at any time. This store is always very clean. I like that the employees really seem to like their job and are always so helpful when I am looking for something specific or just need direction! I really like their produce and they rotate them out. That way you get them fresh! read more

When this Publix opened it was advertised as one of their flagship stores. It has a lot of shelf space and featured a cooking school, which sadly is now kaput. On a recent visit I noticed major renovations are underway and some departments have been scaled back. Gone: -Aprons Cooking school -Extended premium cookware and tools adjacent to the cooking school -Ice cream and dessert bar -Olive bar -Hot food bar Reduced selection: -The gourmet cheese selection is greatly reduced -Beer section has no craft beer. Wine section seems unchanged. While some areas such as craft beer and the hot bar could return after renovations, most other service and selection remain unchanged. You can always try the Publix across the street on Sand Lake. I have not noticed classes scheduled for some time but I always had fun evenings at the cooking school. I for one am hoping for a 'Pours' which is Publix's version of a coffee, smoothie, beer and wine bar. read more

We happened to be in the Dr Phillips area this evening, so we made the pit stop here instead of the sister store in Central Florida Parkway. This one is set up much like the latter with one slight difference. That one difference basically sums up the entire difference between this one and CFP store up the road from our resort. The one difference, you ask? Demographics! A broader selection of high end items and more gourmet quality fresher stuff than one will find at many other Publix stores around Central Florida. Other than that, same friendly and helpful associates, bright modern decor. Same high prices and clean aisles, shelves, etc. If U like snob appeal with your canned veggies or frozen French fries, then this is your store! read more

My daughter recommended trying Publix for a cheesesteak sub. I was a little doubting since I didn't know how they would make it hot. It turned out great. Chrisla did an awesome job and I had her make it without any direction other than the ingredients I wanted. I loved the way the roast beef was sliced fresh before it was all made. Publix had become the leading supermarket in Florida and has since expanded throughout the southeastern United States. They became the leading supermarket by putting a strong emphasis on customer service. They bring the adage "the customer is always right" to new levels. Add to this fantastic BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals and that alone makes for a winning combination. Add to this the iconic subs that they make in their deli (affectionately known as Pub Subs) and they become virtually unbeatable. These subs are pretty amazing. I usually go with their Italian sub or their roast beef. Both are excellent and I guess anything you would order at their deli counter would be a winner. I must say that I would definitely recommend this particular location or any Publix, for that matter. I choose to give it five stars for their steps in making sure a visit to a Publix is always a wonderful experience. read more

I'm on vacation and stopped here to stock the hotel with food. I have to say- I live in south florida and go to publix every week if not more and this is the nicest publix I've ever been to. They hire staff with disabilities (we love that) the staff was SO sweet and friendly and gave my kids crayons and coloring pages. What an excellent Publix! I may have to move so I can be closer to these giant megastores. Maybe it's worth a trip a couple of times a year to head to a more substantial Publix than the smaller store serving my community. The produce section is huge, their deli has room for a line for those chicken tender subs, their wine selection is robust, and the men's room has TWO urinals! What more could you want? I was able to find everything I needed with the exception of a variety of mushrooms, but that's Florida in general. It's white and portabella and that's about it. This is one of the 2 Publix's (Publicies?) that have an Apron's Cooking School which I recommend as well. read more

Cashier was super friendly and thankfully warned us that the conveyor belt was dirty before we placed our items down. As a recent transplant to Florida, of course one of the first things I needed is to find a local grocery store and although the Publix on Sand lake is closer, it does not have a liquor store yep I said it! I have never seen such customer service, as you are walking down aisles there is always someone asking you if you need help? Really someone who wants to assist? Amazing! The cashier are also the friendliest I hVe ever encountered. The reason for only 4 stars is I think Publix is extremely expensive. Tonight's visit was awesome. Needed some advice on a really obscure type cheese for a special recipe. I'll admit I was not holding out ANY hope on this query. OMG, Clifton, in the French pastry Chef hat, blew me away. Not only did he have the answer to my selection choice, he even went beyond the scope of my questions regarding the Sartori Montamore' Cheeses. I guess if you are gonna wear the funny hat, better have yo'chit together in that department! (good job dude!) So, on to the deli for multiple types of salami's and such. Again, this guy Nate is super knowledgeable and friendly with assisting us with our needs. Glad to boast on his performance too. This store is probably my favorite of all Publixe's but just isn't in my path of convenience. Some sticker shock is quite possible too, but variety does require discretion in selections. Looking for something that is out they will look for it for you or take you where an item is. Well, here I am again, Yelp'ing a grocery store ... This particular Publix is a hair different than the others you will find around town. Its geared toward competing with neighboring stores such as Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. So, how do they compete? Well, unlike most other Pulbix stores they have an event planning center, a cooking school), a large wine area that could be a mini store in itself, a cafe and more options in the usual departments plus more choices for pre-made meals/foods. Along with these awesome things comes a little higher price. Now, I like to include in the higher price, a more calm shopping experience. I've been coming to this Publix every so often since they opened, (around 2013) and what I love most is that they always have the check out lines moving fast. I don't know if its because less people shop there or they have more cashiers but this is the big "win" for me with this store. Aesthetically, I do miss the warmness of other stores. This is the reason for 4-stars instead of 5-stars. Its not a big deal but this store seems a bit "cold" and lifeless compared to the hustle and bustle of other stores. Perhaps this is a great thing and I'm not appreciating it. Again, this is my personal trivial aspect and should not affect your experience as this really is a good store. read more

This Publix is what I consider the V.I.P experience. I already love Publix, but this one has a special touch of extra goodies. This is a great place to go for lunch. The hot bar has amazing selection to choose from. I ordered Chicken, Potatoes, and Vegetables, which were all seasoned to perfection. They also have a cafe sitting area, where you are able to enjoy your delicious meal. Then to top it off, they have an ice cream bar and a coffee bar. So of course I had to venture out and grab a scoop of Banana ice cream, which equates to pure Heaven. Of course as always, true to form, Publix has the best customer service around. read more

Love this Publix! Very organized and clean. One of the best set ups in Orlando. They have an incredible cheese selection with a very knowledgeable guy who can guide you with whatever your heart desires. Directly across is the antipasto station with fresh olives, peppers, and a great assortment. The Publix aprons station has all of the cooking classes, which I have never personally attended, but looks great. They do amazing custom platters for special events, and honestly just do a great job. I have never had an issue with them. Pro tip: The wine section has a chiller that you can fast chill your wine while you shop! And the seafood department will steam or cook any fish you need while you're shopping so I don't have to go home and deal with it! LOVE THEM! Shopping truly is a pleasure here. read more

Though I don't always check in on Yelp, I visit this store at least 7 or 8 times a month. When this store was taken over by Publix, I really wondered why, since there is another Publix just across the street and over a block. I shortly learned this was designed to be a 'higher end' store as opposed to other Publix stores. At other Publix, I can walk in, order a nice cake with a theme and come back to pick it up. That is the level I expect and enjoy! Well, at this location, one must sit with a planner just to order the same cake!!! I don't have this kind of time to spend for a simply party cake, so for me, it is time NOT well spent. While the layout of the store is really not much different than others, except for a little more decor, it's still Publix, which is just fine with me, so the 'drama' is unnecessary. I go to the market to shop, not for ambiance; it's a grocery store! While I love the other Publix stores, which I visit more frequently, this store I will avoid in the future. Let me explain the 2 stars. Once I filled my basket with the things I needed, I went to check out and rather than a greeting from the cashier, I got 'crickets,' NOT A WORD. Once my items were all scanned, I was told the price, put my chip-card in, received my receipt and again....CRICKETS! Not one word. A receipt and not even a smile. I would have been happier to hear anything, even if that were 'you are an idiot' or something, but hearing NOTHING is much worse. At that point, might as well be 'bot' self-check out. I decided to buy a lottery ticket and the 3 staff members behind this lobby style service booth were too busy chatting and laughing among themselves to even recognize me standing there!!! Finally, one came over, sold me the ticket, and said she had to get back to what she was doing, 'so bye.' Hey, I didn't want to socialize, I just wanted to buy a second ticket! Maybe if she'd asked me 'anything else today?' she would have understood why I was still there. This store has fallen from the great expectations of when it first opened, to an all time low, in my opinion. In November/December, I volunteer with Salvation Army as a 'red kettle bell ringer,' which I respect they allow at this store, however, when I go in to get my apron and stand to ring at, which they keep inside for us, they are LESS than kind, actually make it more like an inconvenience to retrieve for me/us. Even though it's close, the products are nice, this store most certainly does NOT live up to Publix 'Where shopping is a Pleasure,' and I will take my business elsewhere in the future, despite the proximity to home. A block further is just not that far. read more
