I like this Publix! It's right around the corner from my stepdaughter's house and I've made several visits to it! It is always a pleasure to shop at Publix and this one is in line with every Publix I've shopped at! They often offer good discounts on bottles of wine. They have a pharmacy, bakery, seafood counter, frozen foods, greeting cards, and all the standard Publix items: delicious house made chicken tenders; deli meats and cheeses; subs and wraps; cakes; breads; sushi (which is discounted every Wednesday); Publix Aprons Meal Kits; and take and reheat items such as stuffed chicken breasts; and crock pot meals! Took a road trip to Birmingham. On the way in, we decided to grab a few groceries so that we wouldn't have to come back out. Publix is always on point and this location is no different. Very relaxed atmosphere. No hustle and bustle. Lots of casual strolling through the aisles. Speaking of aisles, the main aisle with the produce and bakery is huge. You won't be saying excuse me nor bumping into carts. Very organized and well laid out. There cashier was helpful and had an awesome demeanor. Publix really kind of sets the bar high as far as super markets goes. I've only had one location that I've been to and written a bad review. This location is no different than all of the other good Publix Super Markets I've been to. First and foremost, especially during COVID, they all have a person in the cart area cleaning handles and greeting as you walk in. I've yet to go into a Publix that isn't VERY CLEAN and well organized. They seem to take pride in having locations that are a grade above other grocery shopping experiences. They have a great deli/baking department with tons of fresh choices to choose from. Highly recommend wandering through this section if you are having a hard time trying to decide what to have for lunch or dinner. I've never seen a bad cut of meat here, really quality cuts. Store is well stocked and provides everything you need for one stop cooking shopping --- unless you are maybe looking to make something that is kind of crazy that requires specialty shopping. Only ding, the prices at Publix can and tend to be a little higher that other grocery locations. But, that being said, they do offer some good sales that actually make them the better option over other stores. Highly recommend! read more

I love shopping in Publix but I really like this location! It is so well laid out with certain specialty sections really getting a great pop! Every Publix has great customer service but I think this one is even better than the others. Today I went in for a cold brew coffee concentrate made by a roaster in North Carolina that, for some reason, the other Publix locations have stopped carrying. It's nice to have this good selection of even harder to find products in a large grocery store. Shopping really is a pleasure here and I will be back many more times. read more

This is my preferred Publix. Especially love their dedicated catering office. I order a number of cakes for various events during the year and I've always had a wonderful experience with the team. This place is a staple for groceries in the Vestavia area. The employees are very helpful, friendly and like family. Tightly run ship and you see the same people working there each time you stop in. They are almost like family. Amir runs a great seafood counter in back, Charity can be seen running around doing everything from bagging groceries to taking care of coupons at the service desk and the Pharmacy runs like a sewing machine spitting out prescriptions. So many good things you can say about Publix, but this one is top tier. You can't find a better grocery store in the area in my opinion. read more

Two days in a row writing a grocery store review! The joy that comes from never going out to eat anymore because I have two one year olds at home. Nonetheless, here we are Vestavia Publix. This really is a fantastic Publix. The people are always extremely friendly. And unlike my local Publix, this one feel big with wide aisles. I agree that the shopping experience at Publix is much better than a lot of stores. When it comes to my grocery store choice, I see two factors. One is the shopping experience and one is the prices. If I based it strictly on prices, I would visit the Arkansas based superstore... but that shopping experience would be unbearable on a weekly basis. But I do have to think cost effectiveness **reference twin one year olds above**, so Publix is not my typical option. But in general, I always enjoy shopping at Publix and this one in particular. read more

If you have never had a Publix bakery cake, you are missing out. I have ordered several through the years and have never been disappointed. Chocolate ganosh for fellow employees birthdays, chocolate chip cookie cakes for my sons birthday parties and homeroom parties. Red velvet for a company party. The cakes are always fresh and even on the cookie cakes the bottom is not dried out which can be hard to find in bakery made cakes. My favorite Publix is the one in Vestavia Hills. read more

Always worth the little extra because the customer service is great. Sometimes there are some pretty good sales.. I went into Publix to pick up a few items from the sales flyer and ended up grocery shopping. It was time for my flu shot and they were offering a $10 gift card for getting it here so, I got that too. The ladies in the pharmacy were very nice and done everything with a smile and while it may not seem like much to most people, it meant everything to me because good customer service is hard to find. The produce is usually pretty fresh and there is usually always a sale on something, but bogos are my favorites! The store is clean and everything is pretty easy to find, if not there is always someone willing to help you. The food in the deli is usually pretty good. I've noticed this location does not have a soup bar like the others, but that's the only downside I see. read more

My family has bought Cake from the bakery every Birthday/special occasion for years and years! The cakes are delicious and reasonably priced for the quality! Publix has all you need in one location. I have been frequently this Publix more often and am encouraged by the very fresh produce section which for the most part has some specials going on. Great deli, nice wine selection, could have a better beer selection with more enticing sales. The meat always has good color and they can cut most anything for you if you need it. Huge freezer selection with everything from ice cream to vegetables to ready made meals and everything in between. Staff are always friendly and offer their assistance. Store is always clean. Isles could be wider and they could offer a small cart instead of the only options being basket and large cart. read more

I love this Publix, the food is always stocked well and fresh. The checkout process is easy and the workers are more than willing to assist you. Every time I go into this Publix (this is my regular grocery store), I am greeted by very sweet employees and throughout my shopping experience, they check on their shoppers and help them to find what they are looking for. Today, I went to this Publix to get sushi and it was all five dollars for five dollar sushi Wednesday. It was great! I love their sushi. Whenever the lines get too long they immediately start opening more lanes to fix the issue! Great management and employees! Highly recommend!! read more

I am sick. Again. And when I am sick I get cravings. Cravings for things I should not be allowed to consume. Things like key lime pie. Key Lime pie is one of those things that you can not get right in the western states. Key lime pie is made from key limes, most widely available in Florida and shipped most fresh to the southern states. Which brings us to dear Alabama, home to my favorite grocery store and favorite key lime pie. There are plenty of fancier key lime pies and desserts both in the south and at fancy-schmancy establishments worldwide, I'm sure. But when I am sick, I have the distinguished palate of a 7 year old and Publix makes key lime pie with plenty of real whipped cream, nutty graham cracker crust, and candied walnuts accessible. I can eat a whole pie in one sitting, no problem. I usually come home from Alabama 10 lbs heavier and I know it's the key lime pie, as that is more or less all I eat the whole time I'm there. They make them fresh everyday, so there's never a shortage :) Publix also kicks every other grocery store in the USA's ass. Even (yes, I'm going to say it) Piggly Wiggly. WAAAY more vegan, vegetarian, and organic options than even California grocery stores plus awesome prepared foods, waaaay lower prices, and genuine southern hospitality at every register. Plus, great southern items and brands that either are unavailable here or cost a fortune (think Wickles and Milo's sweet tea). I just talked to mom, who was doing her shopping at Publix, and she taunted me with her basket full of key lime pies, hush puppies, and other delicious treats I can not obtain from Safeway or Whole Foods. I am sincerely considering a cross-country move and that pie has more than a little to do with it. Plus, there are cute stock boys at this one who are always willing to help a poor, confused coaster find what she's looking for :) read more

I know you're wondering what makes this location so special right? The people! EVERY employee I came across greeted me. EVERY! Most of them where quite engaging as well. Asking about my day & inquiring about my selections to make sure I made the best choice. Very helpful. This location also offers a hot bar & salad bar. I got the impression that the hot bar goes by themes. On my visit, they had an Asian theme which I thought was cool. Not sure how they rotate the hot bar but look out for my tips & I'll let you know soon. Looking for the real Publix experience.... Come here. Where shopping really was a pleasure! read more

Selection is good but service must be off today - when asked two associates where items were / they said they thought in a certain aisle and waived their hands in that direction. One associate said they didn't "think" they carried it but made no attempt to check. It's also the first time I had to bag my own groceries... I think I will stick with my usual at Whole Foods and Fresh Market.... I prefer to spend more & receive better service. read more

Super coupon friendly. Be sure to combine your printed out coupons with their already discounted items in the store and their digital coupons. Great parking. Super friendly staff. I think I was asked 5 times if I needed help finding anything (hopefully that wasn't just because I looked lost and confused). There are always several check out lines open. Like most Publix Super Markets, this one is pretty dang fantastic. It's clean, has a friendly staff, great selection, tons of parking, and is conveniently located (if you live where I do). It's easy to get to if you're in Hoover, Vestavia, or Homewood. This is good news if you're in the market for chicken wings. While I love many sections at Publix, the deli takes the cake. I mean, the bakery sells the cake, but...you know. The wings here are huge and among the best I've ever had. You can get a box (20) for around $8. They are so big that 5 or 6 is enough for a person that would normally eat 10 at a sports bar. read more

This publix is BY FAR the WORST at restocking their products... I thought it was just me at first but I use shipt a lot and have talked to their shoppers. Tonight I basically told a shopper that this one particular product has been out for months and maybe he could talk to the manager. The manager said that they must not make "said" product anymore because they no longer have a spot for it. This product is present in EVERY OTHER STORE IN THE AREA!!!!!!! This is not even close to the only instance in which I have found myself disappointed with the ppl in charge of stocking this store. I've also talked to other shipt shoppers who decided to no longer shop at this store for the same reason. The people in charge orrestocking should be FIRED!!!!! Hoover deserves better!!!!! I'm all about some weekly Publix Buy One Get One free deals. That's the majority of what I buy here, as well as produce. It's all super quality stuff, and fits in the grocery continuum very well between Walmart and Whole Foods. They are always very clean, and the staff is quite nice. read more

As with most Publix stores in town, the service here is incredibly friendly, especially the cashiers and baggers. My only complaint is something that at least one other store in town shares...and that is the lighting. For a nicer grocery store, the lighting seems to be either hung too high or to be to dim...making it feel more like a warehouse store to me. This is my favorite Publix in town. They made some changes to the produce/bakery/prepared foods/deli area and it is super nice. They have brought in a lot of new prepared foods like sandwiches, salads, and soups that are great to pick up for lunch. Their deli sandwiches are way better than Subway and it is the same format where you pick and chose toppings. I have also noticed recently that they have been offering more organic items and more locally made products. The employees here are so freaking friendly. I'm not exaggerating when I say they ALL smile at you and ask you if you need help with anything. read more
