Lunch time and with a grumbling tummy, I stopped at Publix today and got a sub! Whole wheat bread, turkey, swiss cheese, spinach, tomato, onion, cucumber, just a little mayo, some oil and vinegar. Perfection. No one does subs like Publix! The store is tidy and well stocked. An excellent shopping experience as I have come to expect from Publix. Today July 10, 2026, I made the mistake of buying a product from this Publix bakery that had a 'buy by date' of July 11. I had seen a beautiful sweet bread product on a tray in the center of the bakery that apparently had just been taken out of the oven. It was a cinnamon bread circle with what appeared to be some kind of syrup drizzled over it. I asked if I could get THAT one but was told there were some of that product behind me on a product table and that it had cream cheese on top of it. I thought that was an acceptable improvement over a plain cinnamon bread product. So I turned around and looked for it and found it. Another baker person, a younger lady, walked up to me and suggested that I put it in the oven at 350, maybe 450, and let it sit for about 5 minutes and it would be delicious. So I bought it. After heating it and cutting into it, I realized quickly the bread was beginning to stale... the outer edges JUST DRY.' As much as I love cinnamon bread, this was barely edible...just the center. The rest was no good. So it was a draw between them succeeding to sell a stale product and NOT selling me the product I actually wanted. Laziness? Publix sales goals? Either way, Im swearing off Publix bakery. read more

With its many attributes, it is no wonder that Publix has become the premier supermarket and the supermarket that sets the bar for what a supermarket should and could be in the southeastern United States. This location is in the state of Florida's capital city of Tallahassee and is an attribute to the Publix brand and a testament to the values Publix puts on giving its customers the ultimate supermarket shopping experience. Publix built itself into the premier supermarket by offering fanatical customer service. I feel that their training teaches them to say to customers that the answer is yes, now what is your question? They teach their staff to greet people and to respond immediately to any question or issue a customer is having and get it resolved positively. They also have great BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals and whenever a conversation about Publix happens, you have to bring up their subs, which are affectionately known as Pub Subs. Being from the northeast where subs are amazing, it is hard to admit that a supermarket has the best subs, but here in the southeast, Publix subs rank amongst the best. Even on my worst day, I love going to this Publix! Every time I go there I am greeted by someone with a smile and a welcome to Publix. When you are walking around the employees always ask if they can help you find anything and always tell you to have a good day. The shelves are always full and they always seem to have everything I am looking for. They are a little more expensive than Walmart, but it is well worth the extra money. read more

PROS: * Convenient location off I-10 with easy access from both directions of Mahan. * Store and parking lot are always clean. * Stock workers are always polite and helpful. * Among the cashiers, Margaret is the best--fast and friendly at the same time. CONS: * Store is smaller than the average Publix, and so many popular items are regularly out of stock. * Several cashiers are not up to the Publix level of quality (but see exception above). Some always have a "Is it time to go home yet?" attitude regardless of the day/time I shop. Others seem to take about 5-10 seconds to scan each item resulting in excessively long checkout times. * The college kids (cashiers and baggers) have the bad habit of talking about their personal lives (sometimes with inappropriate details) while checking out customers instead of pausing and picking the conversation back up once the line is clear. * Meat department needs help. They are regularly out of stock on BOGO items, especially chicken. And when they do have those items in stock, they tend not to be marked; not sure if that's some kind of strategy to prevent a run on the item. read more

Really love Publix, but was extremely frustrated with Lori working in the deli sandwich. I'm visiting from out of town and always look forward to visiting Publix, she carried on in a conversation while making a sandwich about the Publix manager and scheduling issues. The poor girl working next to her today made two sandwiches in the time that it took to make one, and she was clearly also frustrated. Then she left in the middle of my order and another girl basically kicked me out of line while I waited for her to come back to finish my order. The store was clean, but some of my go-to stuff to buy tasted different from the normal recipes especially the deviled eggs which tasted like a garlic clove with mustard on top. Nasty. Was driving from MIAMI - LOS ANGELES and saw a sign for PUBLIX on an exit sign. I love "The Publix" sub so I had to stop. After entering what seemed to be KENTUCKY I placed my order. If you have ever ordered a sub its pretty easy although since I spoke proper English Im guessing she could not understand a single word out of my mouth. Affectionally known as the "Monticello Publix" (as a result of it being the grocery store many Jefferson County residents frequent), this place is a pleasure to shop. Used to be a pleasure., now it's more of a pain. Wait at pharmacy is super slow and I'm not sure what the person needed to get but apparently it's worth a 15 minute conversation. Complained to customer service and their excuse is there's only one person working there. Whose fault is that? Also, remember when they use to have enough lanes open to make it easy to checkout? Well, now it seems like they close lanes when there's more than 3 people in a lane. Not the pleasure it used to be. If you're just getting a few items you are better off stoping at a convenience store. read more

Deli is super slow! I understand when it's busy- but there were 4 other staff talking amongst themselves and doing other jobs besides waiting on customers! When I worked in retail or the food industry, our managers always said the customer comes first! Every time I go to this deli it literally takes forever! It seems there is no genuine customer service or sense of urgency. read more
