The cronuts I had at the Orleans location were part of the end of day sale, yet they tasted fresher than the ones in Stittsville. So my brother heard that the Orleans location had an end of day sale where after 4:30pm they sell off the remainder of their cronuts for $25 a half dozen. The donuts are $5.80 each regularly. When he arrived at 4:30pm he found out the sale actually starts at 4pm, but it was ok because they still had donuts left. He got a PB&J (Peanut butter and jelly), Raspberry Lemon, Cinnamon Sugar (they call it Sinnerman), Sprinkles, PS no L (Pumpkin Spice no Latte) and Vanilla (they call it Anastasia, which I initially thought was strange, but I think it might be a reference to 50 Shades of Grey, which I never read nor watched but have heard more than enough about it from my friends, lol). The PB&J, Raspberry Lemon and PS no L are all cream filled. The other ones don't have any filling. I had a quarter of each of the filled ones and they were fantastic. My favourite was the Raspberry Lemon one. I loved the tart lemon curd filling. I didn't try the non-filled ones. Cronuts are part croissant and part donut and all delicious, lol. I think they have an affiliation with Bergham (formerly called Centrale Bergham) because these two businesses seem to be co-located, not just at this location, but from what I see, at their other locations (in Montreal) as well (this one on Bank Street is the only Ottawa location). Anyway, the lokma are are deep fried balls of dough. They fry them when you order them, so they are super fresh. You can choose a variety of sauces and toppings. We got a small order (12 pieces) for $6.99. With the small order, you can choose up to two flavours. We got the Belgian milk chocolate and the strawberry syrup. Since some of the lokma were a bit smaller than the others, we got some extra pieces. Whoo hoo! Lol. The lokma were tasty. Slightly crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. I found the chocolate topping to be a bit too sweet. I liked the strawberry syrup a lot more. It was less sweet. I have had the loukoumades at Mr. Puffs on Greber Blvd in Gatineau, and I personally liked those better (crispier on the outside, chewier on the inside, and the flavours were better (apple cinnamon was so delicious, and the had blueberry too, 2 flavours that Lokma didn't have)). However, Mr. Puffs is across the river in Gatineau, a place a rarely go to, so Lokma is more convenient for me. Service was efficient. Like I mentioned earlier, Lokma is co-located with Bergham. Their ordering counters are side by side and they share a common seating area. Both businesses are in a tiny plaza, along with a Tim Hortons. There is free parking in the plaza.

My first experience with Nat's bread was over 3 years ago. I was at Graffiti's, the restaurant…read moreinside the Holiday Inn Hotel in Kanata, and their complimentary bread was the most delicious sourdough flatbread I ever tasted. I asked the server if it was made in-house and she said it was actually supplied by a place called Nat's Bread Company. I had never heard of them and made a mental note to look them up. I did, and at the time they were at a commercial kitchen in Kanata (I think Schneider Rd, but don't quote me on that, lol), and selling at the Kanata Farmers' Market. Their location was not all that convenient for me, and as tasty as the bread was, I did not pursue Nat's bread any further. Fast forward 3+ years and their commercial kitchen is now on Boyd Ave, which is much closer to my home. Plus, they also sell their breads at the Parkdale Farmers' Market now (in addition to the Kanata Farmers' Market). So I finally made it and got to try some of their breads. So they do not have a retail bakery storefront. You buy online and then pick up at their Boyd Ave location, or they also do delivery. Or of course, you can catch them at the Farmers' Markets. Now I didn't see sourdough flatbread as one of their offerings, so I think it's made specially for Graffiti's, or at least for restaurants. They do have a focaccia flatbread though, which I have yet to try. Their loaves are $7.50-$9.00, and come unsliced. It's an extra $0.15 if you want it sliced. The focaccia flatbread is their most expensive item at $12. I've had their Whole Wheat Sourdough bread made with spent grains from Kichesippi Brewing. It's delicious and addictive. If I don't stop myself, I would eat the whole loaf in a day, lol. I've gotten the Four Seeds Loaf for my husband (it has poppy seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds and flax seeds) and he likes it. He said it's a denser bread, like a pumpernickel. Their commercial bakery and pickup location on Boyd Ave is in an industrial park. There's limited free parking in front.

What a cute little shop! They sell cookies, cakes and meringues, and also greeting cards, hair…read morescrunchies, stickers and keychains. I got a bag of meringues. They were $8 for a bag of 12. All the flavours looked good, so it was a difficult decision which to get, but I finally decided on the strawberry and banana, mainly because it meant I could try two different flavours in one bag, lol. They were tasty, but very sweet, although that's to be expected for meringues. The banana flavour was subtle but I liked that it didn't taste too artificial. Same with the strawberry flavour, which was still subtle, but more pronounced than the banana flavour. Again it didn't have that overwhelming artificial taste, so I appreciated that. I've had their sugar cookies and they are very buttery and rich tasting. Something unique they have is DIY paint-it-yourself sugar cookies. The kits are so cute, and everything in the kit, except for the paint brush, is edible. They are $9 each. This would be a great gift for kids. Staff were pleasant and patiently answered all the questions I had. Street parking only.

So many cute options...Different Eevee evolution cookies, cookies with Mario Bros. characters... I purchased a "Shy Guy" cookie (vanilla) for my son and a Gengar cookie (Fruity Pebbles) for myself. I found that the vanilla cookie was a little bland, not much of a vanilla flavour. However, the Fruity Pebbles cookie tastes just like the cereal and is more flavourful. I also bought a Red Velvet mini-cake. Red Velvet is my favourite cake flavour and this one did not disappoint. The cake was moist and the cream cheese buttercream frosting was one of the best I've tasted! The mini-cakes are perfect for sharing (I was kind and shared with my husband), or devouring one on your own!

A woman approached me outside COBS Bread and asked if I wanted a peach scone sample. Does the sun rise and set regularly? Of course I'm going to say yes to a free sample! She gave me a cubed sample in a plastic cup. I also got a coupon for a free loaf if I spent at least $15. I thanked her and continued to walk over to our planned meeting location. I realized once I was in front of the drugstore that I couldn't bring in any food. I texted my friend to let her know that I was outside eating. She was great meeting me outside. We then started our walking tour. We were heading eastbound. It meant that we'd be passing by COBS. I let my friend know that I had enjoyed a sample from this store. The same woman was there and she gave my friend a sample. The peach scone was awesome! It was naturally sweet, but so yummy in the scone. I enjoyed it immensely. It screamed summer. My friend and I had a nice day hanging out. It was wonderful discovering neighbourhoods that I had never set foot until this day. Hours later, we called it a day and parted ways. I went to shop at SDM. Afterwards, I had to pass by COBS yet again, to head over to my car. A male staffer was outside handing samples of the store's apricot delight loaf. Okay, you twisted my arm. I took one, thanked the man, and headed over my car. The apricot was a nice addition to the bread. You don't need to spread anything on it. It tasted yummy just the way that it was. It was so fresh. I saw my friend's photos of her baked goods that she had purchased, taking full advantage of her coupon. I decided to return to this store the day that I was driving home. I parked a block away, across from SDM. I then walked over. There was a different man handing out samples. It seemed greedy to get another sample when I was going in to buy stuff. I embraced greediness and got a sample of the bakery's cinnamon bun. Holy cinnamon! There was so much cinnamon. I was happy! The bun was soft inside, with a cinnamon crust that provided a nice contrast. The problem now was deciding what I wanted to buy. I stepped into the store and wanted everything! It was fairly busy on an early Sunday afternoon. Luckily, the lineup moved at a good pace. Besides bread, buns, and scones, you can also get danishes and mini pizzas. My haul consisted of the following items: - Raspberry and custard danishes (2) - Peach and custard danishes (2) - Chorizo and prosciutto mini pizza - Apricot delight loaf (free with coupon) The first three items were placed in paper bags. This setup worked well, as I'll explain in a bit. The woman asked if I wanted the apricot loaf sliced. I said yes. She then asked if I wanted thick or thin slices. Ooh, how fancy! I went with the former. I watched the machine do the slicing. It was cool. I paid with credit card. Done! I thanked the woman and walked over to my car with my purchases. I am normally a planner, but I didn't when it came to deciding whether to meeting up with my best friend in Peterborough. She was at her mom's place in Campbellford and invited me over there that morning. My friend called me in a video chat. It was bad that she went video because her wifi connection couldn't handle it. An audio chat would have been a ton better! Anyway, I asked her whether her mom had any allergies. She didn't. Yay! I decided to bring her danishes from COBS. My friend is vegan, so only the apricot delight loaf would be suitable for her. However, I had already given her a bunch of vegan donuts a week earlier, so I focused on her mom instead. I split the danishes between her mom and me. I hadn't seen her mom since I was in high school. Yikes! I gave her a bag of danishes. She appreciated the gesture. I had the raspberry danish when I got home that night. It was delicious. The raspberries had a bit of tartness. It was great with the smooth custard. The danish was yummy with a light dusting of powdered sugar. The peach and custard danish held up the following day. It still tasted fresh to me. The peach added natural sweetness to the danish. The custard was the same smooth, delicious custard that I loved the day before. This danish was a bit different in that it had a light drizzle of icing sugar instead of powdered sugar. It wasn't overly sweet. It worked nicely. For lunch, I had the chorizo and prosciutto mini pizza. I heated it up in my toaster over. It was excellent! It's a fancy meat lover's pizza. The bread was crunchy on the outside and chewy inside. The chorizo provided a bit of spiciness, while the prosciutto crisped up nicely and became a thinner, crisper version of bacon. It's funny that this COBS visit was my first at any location. I had a great set of experiences leading up to my purchases. I'd definitely return to mooch on free samples and buy more goodies. (303)

Maybe that was a good thing. The same thing happened to me today when I found out that Rockland has a Mr Puffs. Okay, how come Markham doesn't have good stuff like Mr Puffs? I digress. After spending several hours learning about the southern part of The Glebe with my friend after getting a similar tour four years earlier (yeah, I'm on Olympic time, folks), I felt like a cold drink. I remembered that Mr Puffs has iced teas that I like, so I walked over to this store. It was busy. There was an entire family ordering what looked like three packs of 30 puffs and a bunch of ice cream dishes. Naturally, I knew that my thirst would not be quenched quickly. I am patient. Perhaps too patient for my own good. I stood there waiting for someone to take my order for five minutes. There were two male staffers handling both the puffs and drinks. They were definitely short on staff for the demand. One of them was nice and came over to take my order. I got an iced peach black tea. I like that it's only one size and that it has a hint of sugar. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and my transaction was done. I then waited for my drink. The wait was at least ten minutes. Frankly, I lost track. The family ordering puffs galore did cause a backlog of orders. I was thrilled when I finally got my drink. I thanked the man and happily left the store. I slowly made my way to Whole Foods while sipping my drink. It hit the spot. It was such a hot day that a cold beverage made things cooler. It tasted consistent when comparing it to the previous drinks that I had at the Dixie location. It's my favourite iced tea drink out of the lot. I was in the area last night, but Mr Puffs was closed by the time I left to head back to the hotel. Maybe it was a good omen to not down a box of puffs so late at night.
