This place has beautiful decor, the bartenders were very attentive despite the place being very busy. And the manger was very nice, when I explained to him that I felt my cocktail tasted very weak, and even gave me and my friend a free round of shots to make up for it. Major disappointment!!!! The food quality is so sub standard everything we ordered was barely edible. Unfortunately it was a Togo order or I would have sent it all back. 1-the Chile rellano was soaked in grease. 2-the camerones de ajo was overpriced and a sad representation. The shrimp smelled so fishy and the sauce was non existent. The rice was hard. 3-the guacamole, ughhhh $11.00 of garbage. Watch Your Credit Card Bill -- The waiter gave himself extra tips and charged it to my credit card. I always keep my VISA receipts when I use my credit card. Once my VISA came in this month and I reviewed the charges, I see that the waiters added additional $$ to their tip. I know this for a fact because I have the receipt that I signed with the total for dining and the tip then the final total. The final total I signed was less than the total on my Visa statement. I can see the waiter gave himself/herself additional tips and on my credit card. I signed for $150.32 which included the tip and my VISA statement came through with a charge of $154.32. The second time I signed for $96.13 and the VISA statement came through with a charge of $108.13. This is credit card fraud and I will be visiting managment today for a full refund. Love love love the food here! Mexican is one of my favorite foods of all time and this is a nice addition to the area since Señor Pancho's left the area in the early 1980's. If you lived in the area, then you'll understand. PV has the same level of authentic Mexican that's so fun. The meals didn't get covered in cilantro and that's a for me...Not for me. All the food was amazing. The fried ice cream was not the real deal but corn flakes on very good ice cream. Still very good, but not like the good old days of Señor Pancho's Decor was too colorful and fun while making you feel as if you're in the middle of Mexico. I loved the unique lighting and posted a few pics for later viewing This restaurant took over the space of the old Bettucci's resturant. One of the upgrades PV did was add a nice new bar but they removed the entrance to the handicap accessible ramp in doing so.. The handicap parking was always easy to use at the old location and why we chose PV. Being in a wheelchair it's very hard to navigate through some of these places. PV added a new booth next to the door making it a bit challenging to near impossible to exit with my chair. It's now used as an exit only from the bar area. It was a convenient entrance and exit for the handicap and non alike at the only Bettucci's. It's was one of the best done handicap entrances prior. Totally love the place and the service and everything else was amazing but the access issue and removing accessibility like this to add additional seating to a bar and make its and exit only for the bar kinda bugs me. I'd love to give you the 5 stars for the food, service, and decor but the downgrade of the entrance/exit to exit only is something that personally effected my restaurant. read more

If you want a great mexican meal come here! I love the fresh guac they make right in front of you. Meal portions are quite large and fresh and reasonably priced. They have mariachi band that plays and sings amazing! The tequila list is quite impressive! Have some margaritas, soooo good. It could get a little crowded on weekends so head over earlier. They even have a kids menu that has chicken fingers and french fries! For that one picky kid in the group, ha! Trust me, it is soo good! And if its your birthday you get to wear the big hat! I usually love this place and it is a treat, but after last night's meal, I probably won't order from here again. Two of us got the Enchiladas. There was very little sauce and no taste. The meat was also flavorless and overcooked. There were pieces of bone marrow and whole bay leaves in the shredded beef. The food didn't taste good and then, the kicker, it made us all feel sick with bad stomach issues that are still occurring. This is a shame that I have to give 2 stars because the food is good , drinks are great and once you're seated, service is good. This issue is that they don't know how to manage seating. Last week I went and was told the wait was 20 mins. We were told to go wait in our car and they'd call us. After 30 mins I called asking about our table, they said another 10 min wait. 15mins later I walked into the restaurant asking to be seated after waiting now 45 mins. I was told 25 more minutes. I left and 20 mins later we got the call. I was already sitting at another restaurant waiting for my meal. I have it another try and reserved the outdoor seating for Saturday, I called and canceled because I was ill. I asked if they had any openings for Sunday I was told yes , for 6 pm. I called Sunday to let them know I was 3 mins away gave my name and arrived, to be told o have no reservation. I asked for a manager who instead of apologizing for THEIR error , asked when did I make the reservation and was told they don't book a day before telling me I was wrong. I was going to walk out but stayed because I had family driving over an hour to celebrate my birthday dinner. They suck at the front desk with people skills and seating!!!! AWEFUL LUKE WARM FOOD. My Burrito Vegetariano was supposed to be beans, cheese and rice with lettuce in a flour tortilla with Enchilada sauce. WHAT I WAS SERVED was rice in a thin tomato sauce wrapped in a tortilla with a flavorless enchilada sauce. No beans, no cheese, literally barely any minute piece of lettuce. First time at this chain. I REALLY enjoyed my meal tonight. I'm not usually a fan of guacamole, but the "curbside" fresh made guac was fantastic. I was a little concerned at the prices listed, but when our meals came, I understood. The portions were HUGE. 2 in my party got fajitas and the plates were full. I ordered their signature dish, Arroz con Pollo. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was awesome. The attention was really bad from the beginning, poor service, the food was tasteless, in general just a bad experience.

So, my husband and I first tried their food while away in Connecticut at their Bridgeport location. After loving the food we were excited to see there was another location closer to us in Danbury. We went for date night on a Friday. We arrived around 8:00 pm. There were four waitresses at the entrance. None of which tried to sit us or accommodate us. I had to literally interrupt their conversation to find out there was a waitlist and get on the waitlist. We were told it was a 20-25 minute wait tops. Seeing that we drove to Danbury to eat at this restaurant we said, okay we'll wait. After waiting until 8:35-8:40 I called them to see what was going on with my reservation. I explained to the woman who picked up the phone that i was on the waiting list and hadn't heard back. Once she double checked I was on the list she said unfortunately they had "called" me and left me a voicemail and I had miss my turn and would be at the end of the reservation but they closed at 9:30 so there was really no point anymore. 1. I NEVER received a call 2. There was also NO voicemail After explaining to the woman i didn't not receive either and would like to know how I could continue with dining in, she continue to repeat she had called me and left me a voicemail. She honestly repeated this like 4 times. We were getting nowhere literally nowhere...She said I was lying and had just missed the call. She did not help at all, literally got nowhere. I understand they have great food, but their service and the way this employee handled this was honestly terrible and unprofessional. I really like Mexican food ever since I tried it in San Diego and LA back in the 1970s. Puerto Vallarta is part of a chain in CT. I was happy when the Newtown Road location opened. It is beautifully decorated inside and the bar area is large and can be a lot if fun. Three sizes of Margaritas- all hand made (no machine). The menu is huge with all the typical Tesla-Mex selections. There is always a good selection of specials and lots of more typical Mexico City more formal entree choices. I have not eaten inside since the Pandemic bout they have an excellent covered area for outside seating. The portions are hearty so it's a great place so go if you are hungry I recommend the Carna Asada burrito, the Tacos al pastor any of the Fajitas, the mole poblano, arroz con pollo and Gloria's burrito (vegetarian). But be sure to check out the specials!! I really liked the Pierna de Puerco - lots of flavor. Definitely my favorite Mex in Danbury. read more

Our friend recommended this restaurant to us and let's just say we are questioning our friendship. He even went ahead and compared it to our favorite Mexican place! In all fairness- it was ok. Unfortunately, and sadly, not great. We were sat in one of those half booth/half chair bullshits (you know you hate those too) between a "meet the in laws" night and 2 toddlers fighting over an iPad on the other side. When we moved from Dallas to Connecticut in 2011 I searched high and low for a good Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant to no avail. I almost gave up looking after being disappointed again and again but decided to give Puerto Vallarta a try. I wasn't disappointed! This is now one of my top favorite restaurants in the area. I usually get the number 9 which is two crispy tacos and I get the ground beef. It comes with yummy refried beans and rice. I've also enjoyed the enchiladas de mole poblano, the chili relleno, and a few others. The tableside guacamole is great! The queso dip is so yummy! The chips and salsa are addictive! They have amazing margaritas and freshly brewed iced tea which is something I also missed from my Texas days. So many places in the Northeast serve instant tea. Not Puerto Vallarta! Their tea is freshly brewed, like I said. The staff here is so wonderful. Everyone is so nice and service is amazing, and I love how they coordinate their uniforms. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside. The decor, seating, cleanliness, staff, food, drinks, everything is great and that's why I return on a regular basis.
