Traveling for work and always looking for different places. It's Taco Tuesday and based on previous reviews, I thought I'd give this place a try. I was quickly seated and served a basket of warm chips and a thick delicious salsa. My drink came soon after. I opted for the steak street tacos which were the special today. The meat was well seasoned and tender. The tacos had a nice mix of cilantro and onion. The side of rice was average and not a favorite with me. The service was top notch. Wait staff was friendly and checked on me regularly. The restaurant was pretty clean although the entrance and doors could use a cleaning. I'd return when back in the area. read more

Puerto Villarta is yet another Mexican restaurant in Heath. It's like all the others but they have great margaritas. The food is also better portioned. It's a great stop for a cold alcoholic beverage. The chips and guacamole are excellent. I had the mango margarita, which for the price is a good amount. It's about $7 at happy hour. The margarita tasted like it actually had alcohol in it. A good appetizer is the chips and guacamole. You get a lot of guacamole, not just a little side cup like at other places. Also, this tastes as if it's fresh. Other Mexican restaurants get shit out of a tub. I would recommend Puerto Villarta if in the area. It's the best Mexican restaurant you'll find. It's not always easy to find good authentic Mexican food, but when you find it... you remember. This is such a place. I recommend that you try Puerto Villarta, because the food here is amazing! If that was not enough, the servers go out of their way to make sure your dining experience is a good one. (You will not be made to wait and wonder if you'll get a refill, or to order something else, because they are very attentive (as all good restaurants should be). The servers who waited on me were fantastic! They checked on me multiple times to make sure I was satisfied with my food or if I needed a refill or anything else. My waiters (Sergio and Ricardo) were quite friendly and made me feel as if I were their only guest. In fact, every time I have visited this establishment, I have always been greeted with kind employees who were definitely people persons. I have never been disappointed with my food selections. The food is always hot and delicious, and the staff kind and courteous. I gladly give this restaurant 5 stars and highly recommend it! I think they serve the best Mexican Food in town! I'm going to give it to you straight. At this present moment I am intoxicated off of two strawberry margaritas that where the color of the 1980s strawberry shortcake hat. We ordered a combination plate because we were so hungry we really just wanted one of everything... We got the chili relleno, Tamale, and enchilada combination. I learned a few things from this order... My partner who has gastric bypass surgery loves tamales because it's the perfect consistency for his digestive system... I also love tamales because come on polenta... Second thing that I learned is that here an enchilada is just tortilla with ground beef inside of it covered with sauce... I'll probably skip the enchilada next time. I also learned that this was enough food for one normal person... But the perfect amount of food for someone with gastric bypass and someone else trying to lose weight...to share. I also learned that there is not a fresh strawberry in this entire joint. For dessert we had a Shongo which I know that Siri will miss spelling I will have to re-spell right now excuse me for a moment...Xangos! Xangos is a fried tortilla filled with cheesecake and topped with a very fake whip cream and an equally fake Hershey syrup... I do not recommend this... Especially if you like cheesecake as much as we do it will just make you sad in your heart. However! The good news is the Flawn is f*cking rad! And made daily from what I hear... This dish makes me want to learn to make custard... Which soon I will be able to make with my very own chicken eggs...be JELLY! All in all it was an excellent meal... Mostly because I'm drunk and also because I was just that hungry. I've learned not to expect too much from the places that serve food in Ohio... But this place seems to be one of those establishments that hates food less than most other places. This is my favorite restaurant by far and I'm closer to the Heath one rather then the Newark, but I will forever always make the extra 10-15 minute drive for the Newark one. Better service and definitely better food. They know me at the Newark one and always know what I'm going to order, the Heath one I have never had a good experience, even with Togo unfortunately. read more

One of my top 5 cheap Mexican restaurants in Ohio. The food is good quality for the price. The atmosphere is just right. Since Paco's Tacos closed, it's the only place in the area I go for Mexican. The lunch-time all you can eat buffet is the best buffet around: you order from a menu, they bring it to you. That's right, all you can eat from a menu. This place is good.....for Heath, OH. I had the Jalisco Fajitas. It was pretty good....but not too flavorful. It needed something..........salt or something...a bit bland, but good. The service was good and the waiter was very accommodating. The chips and salsa were pretty tasty and I had no complaints, really. Good for what it was. read more

This is not Taco Bell. Puero Villarta has the most authentic mexican food in the Newark/Heath area. Their salsa and chips are good, and as is anything with cheese... which is pretty much everything. It certainly isn't health food, but it is good food. I may go at off hours, but there never really seems to be anyone in this place... but I'm glad they stay open anyway! read more

Have eaten here for years. Fantastic, authentic style Mexican food (at least as authentic as you get in Ohio)! Waiters are actually Spanish and very nice and helpful. Food is great and flavorful. Not very spicy (which I like) but good anyway. My go-to's are Chili Verde (great pork in green tomatillo sauce) and Special Dinner (two big plates of a lot of items). HUGE menu, lots of variety. It doesn't matter how busy they are or how big your party is, you'll get your food in 10 minutes or less every time! They also don't charge for substitutions and have excellent margaritas and sangria. And probably the best local salsa you can find. read more

One of the worse mexican places I have ever been to. The food was salty, and almost the only flavor we could taste, my friend's steak fajita was so tough was like shoe leather! The service was horrible, especially concidering we were the only people in the resturant. This was our first and last time going there. We complained but they didn't seem to care, so we had to pay for food that was almost completly inedible. The manager had already left, so they said there was nothing they could do. Only good thing was the chips and salsa. It was my husband, myself, a friend and his girlfriend. We go out every week ( saturday nights) for mexican food and this was seriously some gross food. I have had more authentic Mexican food in a Chinese restaurant. I suspect they have been toning it down because locals don't like tasty food. This is the most bland food I have ever eaten hands down. Seriously the salsa was more bland than tomato soup right out of the can. The cheese was barely warm let alone melted. There was no flavor to anything. Ok sorry maybe I've been spoiled by actually having been in a lot of regions of Mexico i.e. Cozumel, Cancun, Juarez, Tijuana , Playa del Carmen and living in CO but no where have I had a Mexican dinner that was so expensive for the quality of food I received here I have to agree with one of the other reviewers who said they have Americanized their food for midwesterners tastes sad but I've never had a bill of 15$ for what amounted to 6$ worth of food very little cheese no tomatoes on taco no chance of green chilli enchilada sauce and rice that frankly was bland and tasteless refried beans the same. Now for the corker and the reason I will never go back #1 I'm Hungarian and can do Mexican food better than they can #2 I was seated right in front of their side door ( by the LJS side) the door does not close and every time s/o came in/out it stayed open about 2 " and I got cold I asked one of the servers if he could close it and he did once but acted like I was a nuisance my server was nice except he had asked me 5 different times if I was ok before this started happening and until he brought my check after that I had to be a nuisance again and ask for more tea.So I'm sorry I work too hard for my $ and know for a fact I can do better. read more

this place has been around for years and while I don't live in the area, my family does and I have NO IDEA why we haven't eaten here before yesterday. i think because i was finally hungry for Mexican food, i actually remembered this place since i am all the time saying we should eat there. the menu was impressive and thanks to our knowledgeable server, we got our meal cheaper because everything my lunch guest and i wanted was on the buffet menu. the service was great and the time it took us to order and when the food arrived was speedy. we even placed a togo order and it was super speedy. i can't wait to go back when i am in the area again! read more

On several occasions, they've charged us more than what our check's supposed to be, and keep the actual check with the correct total in their pocket or apron not expecting us to do the math. Then when we leave, they switch the checks and keep the extra money. Luckily, we noticed it and called them out on it. This is the smaller ,quieter of the 2 puerto Vallarta locations and my favorite of the two. Everything is tasty I've had almost the entire menu minus a few. You can buy al a cart for a few bucks and some meals for under 9 & 10 $ most are in the 12 to 15 $ range . Try the early afternoon buffet for 8$ . The best kept secret buffet in town with every thing on your plate made fresh for you. Great service read more
