It's been a while since I visited Taqueria Guadalajara. I recently discovered they have expanded into a second storefront, providing a welcome increase in dining space. Order at the counter and a server brings your food--service was quick and the meal was hot and plentiful. If you want chips and queso... search elsewhere. If you want authentic food with incredible flavors, eat here. They've grown so it's easy to get a seat. As a gringo it can be a bit overwhelming but I love it. Attaching menu because it's hard to order online/find a menu. I get the burrito mojado with carnitas. Beans and rice are fantastic. I cannot truly express how delicious the quesabirria is. My husband and I went for an early date on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant stays busy, and Sunday at 4:30 was no different -- for good reason, the food is great. He ventured out from his normal burrito to a chimichanga, which he loved. This adorable and happy little Mexican place is tucked away next to an ice cream place. (dessert anyone?) . Lots of beautiful murals on the tables, the chairs and walls. It brings fun! I ordered at the window and got three tacos to go. I really enjoyed the Burria and Carnita tacos! There were some pickles carrots in my carry out container as well that were fantastic! Lady kept checking in on me to see if all was well. The music here is so awesome as it makes me feel as I want to get a margarita and stay longer. So definitely a nice vibe. This was a mixed bag for me. I will start with the good stuff. Chips and salsa were sooo delicious. I could have drowned myself in that fresh salsa. It had tons of flavor without being crazy hot. The staff seemed to be genuinely happy working there and I am all for a small business doing well. The not so good was that the takeout order was quite slow. It's a busy place and you have to go in with patience. I didn't particularly dig the dine-in ambiance and the quesabirria tacos were so greasy they were unappetizing. I think they used way too much cheese (something I really never thought I would say) and the tacos were just dripping in grease. They need to work on the meat to cheese ratio. We tried different tacos that they serve including the lengua, asada, and the birria. The birria was pretty tasty. It was the best one among the ones we've tried. I was just confused as I was expecting birria tacos to have be saucy or have the dip (it's my first time trying it so I don't really know if what I tried was authentic). The asada was pretty much the same as other restaurants like los gauchos so nothing special there. I also tried the medio pollo and I would say the serving was pretty generous. However, the chicken was a bit too dry. The place felt very authentic. I love the design on the booths and the place wasn't too crowded when we visited. read more

For a special Christmas Eve, I stopped in here for lunch before heading back out with my dad for some last minute shopping. Maria was eating lunch herself, saw me and told the girl at the counter exactly what I wanted. I feel famous :). The decor hasn't changed since my last review, so let me say that today's ceviche really hit the spot. For some reason they were out of diet Coke, so I picked up a bottle of Mexican coke. Oh. My. I ordered food over the phone and was told the price was $24. When we got to the restaurant there was an advertisement for $6.99 margaritas so we added 2. To my surprise, the new total came to over $58. When I asked asked about the price difference the host became very rude and pointed to a sign that the prices vary and said she told me the price on the phone. We paid and then I asked for an itemized receipt. Rudly again, the itemized receipt was aggressively slammed on the counter and that is when the mistake was discovered. She gave us another persons order. Still no apology, she just walked away and had someone else handle it. No accountability what so ever. We really enjoyed getting take out from this place but we will not be back. Between the price manipulation and the horrible customer service we will not be back. read more

I stumbled upon this place during my search for birria tacos, which were delicious. They also have a large menu for other Mexican food, which I cannot speak to. The atmosphere is fantastic, with Mexican music playing and all of the decor with Mexican artwork. It feels very authentic. The restaurant is also very clean and the workers continuously clean it while everyone eats. The service is also very good. You receive a table and the food is brought out to you in a timely manner. One thing to note is that the Birria menu is a little confusing. It is just printed paper copies of pictures of food with handwritten prices. It sounds nonproblematic but the picture has tacos with a bowl of consome (birria broth) and handwritten Spanish words. We luckily caught it early, but the words say that you only get the consome if you order 4+ tacos. People that order less than 4 and expect consome are going to be very disappointed. Another disappointing note is that tacos with cheese are over a dollar more than the regular ones. Regardless, come to this place for some really good birria (and probably the other food). read more

I visited this place when I was basically starving half to death. I had just walked the trail at Sharon Woods metro park and was looking for somewhere close by that had good food. They had good ratings when I looked them up so I decided to visit. I walked in and knew immediately this was some authentic food from the customers that were there. The entire menu is in Spanish, but fortunately (I don't speak Spanish) I understood the majority of it. Also, the young lady at the register was very helpful. It wasn't clear if I order and then sit down, or do I sit down and then order. I ordered 1st and the young lady said that she would bring out the food. I ordered 2 tostadas and a beef taco. It took way more time then I would think it would to make something so simple. Also, there were not many customers, so I was confused on the wait. I asked another server if she could see if my order was ready and she immediately brought it to me. So I'm wondering how much longer I would've waited if I had not asked. Anyway, the atmosphere was good. The music is pretty loud, but not annoying. The tables are so colorful -- which I love. The food was good too. I would definitely go back. read more

This spot has been on my radar for quite some time now and I was super excited to see additional seating has been added (they are busy all the time-which speaks volumes.) Tucked in a small strip corner mall on north side of Columbus off home acre next to the diamonds ice cream and across from the old strip club and across from the turkey hill gas station off Cleveland Avenue. You order at the counter. To eat in they will assign your table. You pay before you eat and the waitresses deliver the food to your table. Newly extended side of restraunt adds additional seating which is great because I didn't want to take my tacos to go..I wanted the full dining experience. Music was great..good variety..I even heard adventura Tables are large. Seats are beautifully painted. Very colorful inside. Bright colors automatically out a smile on my face. Booths are large as well, I bet you could squeeze in 3 people on each side! I came specifically for the quesabirria tacos. First I just want to say that the quesabirria tacos were so beautiful I almost couldn't eat them. It was such a beautiful sight when they were brought out. The plate presentation was excellent. It was a surprise to see the carrots and onions on the side but added great color and healthy addition to the meal. I ate them by themselves and they were amazing. I judge quesabirria immediately by the stew broth . If broth doesn't taste good, the tacos wont..stew broth was 10/10. Tacos were very flavorful. Cheese was perfectly melted. Also came with some red sauce which was hot sauce. That was good as well, I did not use too much. They also bring out green salsa and set on table for you. This restraunt is family owned and operated. They do an excellent Job. The food is amazing. The restaurant dine-in experience was amazing. They are also on Facebook and provide updates to menus and share photos. If you are looking for some amazing quesabirria tacos..this is your place! This is a small, unassuming restaurant in a strip mall on Cleveland Ave, but don't let any of this full you into thinking that the food here is sub-par. They have some of the best birria tacos in town, and their carne tacos are also excellent. The restaurant is always packed, which is a testament to the quality of their food. The price points are also pretty reasonable. All in all, this is a great hole-in-the-wall type restaurant that punches way above its weight. read more

My wife and I are from Houston, TX and this is the closest Mexican restaurant to some of the best places there that we have had in Columbus so far. The asada tacos are great, but the real star from what we had was the quesabirria taco. I was very nervous that we would not find any good birria up north, but this proved me wrong. The different salsas we had were all also delicious, it has a nice atmosphere inside, and all of the employees were very helpful.
