Pug Nation is amazing!! Extremely thorough adoption process. They truly aim to find the right home for their Pugs. Pug Nation cares for these pugs like they are their own personal dogs, and no expense is spared. We are so grateful to have been able to adopt Kaeru from Pug Nation

Me and Bagel, my new son, adopted from Pug Nation. =)

Had a wonderful time adopting from Pug Nation. They have an extensive interview process, but it just shows that they care about where their dogs are going. It was an easy process though. The facility itself is fantastic, they have the coolest greeting area for pugs to meet their potential owners. They really do seem to care about all their dogs there, and every staff member I came across was an incredibly nice person. And when you adopt, you also get a big pack of really high quality food. The prices of adoption are also totally fair. So overall, I think I will always come back to Pug Nation if I find myself searching for an additional family member. Every dog I met was sweet, and they all need a good home.

I cant say enough about Pug Nation, last year was a bad year for my family. We lost our 14yrs old chuggle in Febuary 2024. We knew we wanted to bring another pug home. Very easy process, went to look at a certain pug that I really wanted to bring home but my daughter fell in love with Fauntleroy 2yr old pug mix, now Chewbacca. We have had him now for 2 weeks. He is such a sweet baby boy, shy but starting to warm up to us. If your looking for a pug dont go to a breeder go to Pug Nation they have so many pugs that are waiting for there forever home.

While there was a multi step process to get my pug, it was well worth it! I actually loved that they are so detail oriented in the application process to ensure that their pugs find a forever home. Once I came to the center, the staff was so sweet and allowed me to spend a good amount of time with any pug that may be a good fit. I now have my boy Benny

We recently adopted our dog from Pug Nation. She is a little angel and I love the fact this organization is about rescuing these dogs. The application process is a little drawn out, but I understand. They want to make sure they go to good homes. Once you are in their system though, the process is much easier.

Rush and Leia in the RV

My husband and I adopted Rush and Leia and they are doing great! They are very sweet and gentle and snuggly dogs and we couldn't be happier! The adoption process went smoothly! We took them to our RV trailer and they fit right in! They are good travelers and we look forward to many adventures with them in the future! When they finally arrived to their forever home, they adjusted nicely. Rush is a "momma's boy" and Leia just loves being with her humans.

We have adopted two pugs from Pug Nation and have had great experiences both times. The staff is so helpful and wants the best for the pugs! We love our babies!

We adopted our pug from Pug Nation in 2023. The experience was amazing- they really took the time to help us find a dog that was going to be a good fit. We met with a few dogs before we fell in love with Mr. Feeny (formerly, Cedric). He has been the best dog! This is definitely the place to go to rescue a pug.

We fell in love with Hermes when we visited and met several pugs! Pug Nation was so helpful in allowing us to come back and get him a week later. The work and love they give to each and every pug is so inspiring!!! We are so blessed to have him in our lives. We look forward to another adoption soon! Gwenn and staff were most accommodating!

    Opal the pug

Meet Opal. She is a 5 yo pug we adopted in March. She was originally scooped up as a stray in Bakersfield before being sent to Pugnation Pug Rescue in Carson. A few things we've learned about Opal so far... -She is mellow. Like SUPER mellow. -She loves to sleep curled up in a tight little pug ball next to me in bed. It doesn't matter that we sleep in a king-sized bed; she's not happy unless her snoring little pug body is pressed up against me, nudging me to the edge. And speaking of snoring... -She snores, snorts, and rumbles very loudly even by pug standards. You can usually hear her coming from two rooms away. This girl will never be an assassin. ...and most amazingly... -Like Olive, she pees in a handstand. Not only that, she also poops in a handstand. We're still trying to understand the physics of how she does that. Needless to say, we love her to bits. Even our grumpy little min pin rescue Olive seems to enjoy her company (and that's saying something)! Many, many thanks to Gwenn, Christine, and Shannon of Pugnation for matching us with Opal. If you are ever thinking of adopting a pug, they are the ones to contact. The process to adopt is not an easy one - first you fill out an application, and if that's accepted, you schedule a house check. During the house check, you do an extensive walk-through of your house and surrounding area. Also, every person living in the house must be present so they can be interviewed. If you are approved, you go to their physical location to speak to an adoption counselor and get matched with a pug. Opal, we love you and are so happy you've joined our family! @pugnationla #rescuedog #rescuepug

I have adopted from pug nation for over 10 years. All I can do is say thank you to them for all they do! The pugs, the care, the love - all of it is extraordinary. They really care and ensure the dog is adopted into the right environment, the owners are connected to all. Never mind all the amazing events they hold each year. Absolutely the best!

Review #969 2026-035…read more Carson Animal Care Center is part of the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care & Control (DACC), one of the largest progressive animal control agencies in the U.S. It covers an expansive region of 3.4K miles of cities, beaches, mountains, & deserts, providing 24/7 animal control & rescue services with a 24-hour communication center. DACC adopted a new philosophy expression: "Socially Conscious Animal Sheltering" in which their shelters strive to create the best outcome for all animals by treating them respectfully & alleviating their suffering with the intent to maximize their lives while balancing animal comfort & public safety. My son & I were in the neighborhood for lunch over the weekend, & saw that Carson Animal Care Center was en route home so I wanted to stop by their cat house to see if there's any kittens/cats that might be a good fit with our Lynx Point Siamese kitten that we adopted last year. There were several possibilities, but only 1 stood out, a cute 4-month old gray & white kitten; ID: A5756923. He kept meowing at us when we were near his cage, & paraded/rubbed himself back & forth in his cage... definitely wanted our attention! He reached out with his paws to tap our fingers & hands, & liked the mini rubs that we were able to give between the bars. I nicknamed him "Butter" because he just melts your heart & in your hands. He was on hold, to be released W, 02/25/26. I tried to come back before Carson Animal Care Center opens at 11:00 AM, but was slightly delayed (11:15 AM) & Butter was gone. Sad for us, but happy for him to find his fur-ever home. Yay!! I walked around to see if the previous cats had warmed up yet. Again, there were 2 cats that called out when I was near their cage... a charming 14-month old brown, black, & white female tabby with beautiful golden eyes named Sadie, & a 1-year old white & tan male domestic shorthair with gorgeous light blue eyes (similar to Snow's eyes) that is unnamed. I trekked to the front office to request interaction time & had to complete a form. By the time I received the form & returned, Sadie was adopted in a span of 10-mins; while friendly at CACC, she might be a handful at home. I waited a few minutes & no staff returned to the cat house so I went outside, & another officer pointed to another officer who could help with my interaction request. He crossed off the previous ID, & noted A5757653. The makeshift plexi-room echoed a bit so I let him explore the open space & waited for him to warm up to me. I clicked a couple of times & he came to me. This boy has a more gentle temperament, though he'll shed like crazy. He likes head & neck rubs, didn't mind me cleaning gunk from his eyes, or holding his paws/squeezing his nails too much, which means I can probably cut his nails. While rubbing against my leg, I picked him up to place on my lap & he marked my tee & jeans. I scratched him a bit more before leaving & informed the officer that I intend to adopt him. I spent almost 1/2-hr. waiting in the front office, waiting for my turn to process the adoption. I mentioned that he appears to be intact (he is) & CACC will neuter him tomorrow. I asked if it can be pushed to F, 02/27/26 due to the kids' after-school activities, & if he can be cleaned up/groomed because I won't be able to after his surgery. His coat was dirty & slightly matted, & had long, sharp nails; I'm hoping they can take care of this so he's somewhat clean coming home. There's a February adoption special... all adoptions are $14 (I'm guessing for Valentine's). Thanks for our fur baby addition, Carson Animal Care Center... we can't wait to welcome this cutie home!

They gave me a 6 week old kitten they claimed was healthy, even with an exit exam by a veterinarian, and when I got her home, she was visibly sick and had to be rushed to the emergency hospital. Now I'm typing this review after spending $5000 to save her life. I am beyond upset as I got this cat to help me with my mental health and now I am completely stressed out and disgusted with this shelter. UPDATE: The cat died. Thanks for lying to my face that the cat was healthy and ready to go home and be around other cats. What she had is contagious and now I'm worried about the wellbeing of my two other cats. Today me and my boyfriend came and checked out the animals. First, we walked in , greeted immediately and it was VERY clean and fresh inside. we went on and checked out the cat room and had assistance with a very kind woman. She was very well mannered and had a huge smile on her face :)! she had very positive energy. The cat room had no smell whatsoever , smelt very clean and looked very clean. I pet strawberry and luna and they were really well taken care of. The litter was also clean ! I went to the very back part of the cat room and the kittens were also well taken care of and it didn't have a smell either. They were very playful and adorable while the woman was talking to us about her fur babies she has at home ! After we played with the kitties and explored and chat a bit we decided to see the dogs. The dog area was also very clean , the dogs had no poop or pee in their kennels , the dogs were nice , had been treated properly and even another kind woman came out and handed us a bag of treats to feed the dogs and chatted with us as well ! she was very kind ! We decided to finally play with a dog and another kind woman assisted us with that , i loved her energy and she actually spoke with us about her animal of her own with us and even made it possible to see and hold a 2 month old puppy in the office (since the puppy was too young to be out on the floor). This was the BEST shelter experience I have ever had & I definitely will be coming back to adopt a fur baby sooner or later ! 10/10 costumer service and 10/10 environment !
