It takes a lot for me to get online and post a review these days, but I had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Jennifer Andrews today that I felt compelled to share. I have a lot of anxiety at eye doctor's offices due to an eye condition I've had since I was a young child. Dr. Andrews made me feel comfortable, brought levity to the situation, and reassured me that the anxiety I feel is to be expected. Beyond that, this is the first time an optometrist has ever given me ideas for how to protect the vision in my "good" eye. It blew my mind that no one ever thought to talk to me about that considering I only have one eye with good vision. It's refreshing to meet with a doctor who actually listens to you and acknowledges your lived experiences instead of doing the bare minimum and rushing off to the next patient. Don't recommend this place. Very unprofessional front desk. Make all kinds of mistakes from appointment scheduling to payments explanation, insurance coverage. They also have only one doctor for kid's ortho-k lenses, which means the schedule is very very limited, and they show zero sympathy on whether the patient can get routine check on time due to all their terrible mistakes and doctor last min cancellation. AND they do charge high. They charge $600+ for routine check after prescribing atropine sulfate eye drops, and again they never explain the $600 is just for one check. The nurses are good and patient. Feel sorry that they need to work in such a bad clinic. read more

Worst eye exam I ever had! I can not read with my new prescription! I have been using my old prescription to be able to some what read. I knew I needed a new prescription based on me having to pull the print farther away to be able to read it. Needed a new eye doctor since we moved and driving 30 minutes wasn't convenient. I chose this place based on the location ( near to our new home) and from the fact that was listed by our insurance as a provider. From the moment I sat in the chair I had a feeling it wasn't going to be good. From the interaction with the doctor it only went further down. I made the mistake of not looking for actual reviews prior to making an appointment. I have made two attempts to return to this place. I was having conflicted feelings about it the first time so I missed one appointment. Second time I thought I made an online appointment for today. Called early today to confirm and I was told that online appointment are request and no actual appointments. So why you send the link to book an appointment?? So annoying and confusing!! I am now looking to have a new eye exam only 2 months after my last one. I will let my insurance now of my experience with this provider. read more

These people are clowns. Don't waste your time. I called in with new insurance prior to my appointment, and was told they would verify coverage. Was told if I heard nothing that it was covered. Showed up for my appointment as scheduled, and had to deal with two clueless people who had no record of my call, nor idea what they were doing. Cut my losses and left. Dr. Catherine Ho literally saved my vision when I had a severe infection over Christmas. Her service included talking to me, my insurance, and multiple pharmacies ON CHRISTMAS! If you need an amazing, caring, and professional physician THIS IS THE LADY! Having multiple locations was also nice, especially because I was coming almost daily while undergoing treatment and it was around the holidays. read more

My entire family has been seeing Dr. Ono for years. He is awesome. I can't say enough great things about his knowledge and service. Support staff and pre-appt assistants are also great. Never had any billing issues even after switching insurance companies three times. Did not use optical so can't rate them. Highly recommend. read more

My kids have a wonder doctor (Carlson) but horrible customer service. My son's glasses got broken and it took over a month to get them back from them. Every time I call they Told me it would take 4 days or so to get the glasses. Nobody keeps track of anything there. read more

Waste my time... strongly not recommend this place.. My eye exam was not appropriately performed because the test lenses was so dirty so that I had to clean myself each test lenses. I felt so bad... also I ordered the glasses and paid the price. A couple of days later, they called me and asked extra money so that I canceled the order. I had a great experience here. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I saw Dr. Charlene Walton. Along with a general eye exam, I needed a new brand of contacts that were more comfortable to wear. She was extremely helpful and took the time to make sure that the ones I picked were a good match for my eyes. read more

The eye exam was fine, but it was the experience buying glasses at the shop which was a pain. The place is quite understaffed--every time I was there, it was just one person who, despite the absence of other customers, always took forever to get to me. They were either gone in some back room, on the phone, or talking to some product representative. The first time I ordered my glasses, they didn't call me when they came in. A week after they said my glasses would be there, I called in to check and see what's up. They told me my glasses were in and were surprised that nobody called me to tell me, but when I drove over to pick them up my order was wrong. It turns out that the salesperson who took my order never wrote down some important pieces of information so I got the wrong glasses. They didn't charge me to re-order the correct lenses, but it meant that I didn't get my glasses until almost a month after I ordered them. There are a thousand optometrists and overpriced eyewear stores in the city. I've never had this much trouble getting a simple pair of glasses before. Pick any other one, and you'll probably do better. read more

I had my kid scheduled for annual vision check up at Puget Sound Eye Care. Instead of billing my vision insurance, they billed to my health insurance for medical evaluation which was not communicated to us. Health insurance not covering expense we received surprise bill. when i called them, all they have to say is they apologize for miscommunication but bill stays there. Really frustrated how they deal with things. read more

The front desk staff is very rude and of low efficiency. The doctors are OK, I guess, but there is a long waiting time. For example, my appointment was 11am, but I was called even later than 11:30am. When I request the medical records, it also take a long time, the staff who answers the phone is very very unprofessional, and inpatient. I would not recommend anyone go to this bad eye care clinic! Hidden costs and very high fees! Went in for a routine exam and everything was fine from a service perspective. The staff was friendly and professional. A few weeks later a receive a bill notifying me that the services they provided, again your run of the mill eye exam, cost nearly $400!! At no point in time was I ever told the cost of my exam or of any of the services arranged on the long list of itemized charges (which are normally free at other optometry practices) on my bill. I called only to talk to someone who did not take any responsibility on account that she was absent the day of my exam. Very unacceptable. This is just another case of health care providers charging extraordinary fees to patients assuming insurance will front the costs (they don't! especially when the costs for a typical exam are ~400% higher than the national average)! PSEC is a classic example of why our health care system is one of the worst in the world. read more

I usually come here visiting Dr.Ono and have been happy but this time I decided to try Melcarson and when I got there he was overbooked so I ended up waiting for an ONE HOUR & FORTY FIVE MINUTES!!!!!!! The doctor didn't even apologize but the receptionist did once. Plus the glasses are overpriced and the same ones can be bought elsewhere for much cheaper! I am so disappointed with their service. Dr Carlson is a super nice doctor, the star is for him only. The waiting time after checked in always longer than 40 minutes. We ordered the glasses more than one month ago, called in 3 times for status check, they just kept telling me it will be ready in few days, but never happen. I ordered the medical record more than one year, asked for the status check twice, kept telling me they are waiting for doctor approval. This is it!!! We had a fantastic experience here. We got an appointment quickly. We were on time, and taken back for my daughter's exam promptly. The tech and the doctor were both absolutely fantastic with my 4 year old (getting the exam) and were also wonderful to my 2 year old who got dragged along. The doctor was thorough and thoughtful and also gave me some very helpful information for as my kids grow and develop. I will definitely bring my kids back for future exams. read more

My wife and I have been going to PSEC for the past 3 years. We've always had a great experience with both Dr. Ono and the Staff. The front desk is always helpful with my insurance and is willing to explain it to me since I don't have a clue what it covers. They have a lot of glasses to choose from and the optician always makes it easy for me to pick out my frame. I have two kids ages eight and 16 months that both see Dr. Matthew Carlson. He is very patient and knowledgeable. When my daughter needed to choose her first pair of glasses EVER the optician made it fun for her and made her excited about wearing them. They had lots of pink and purple (her favorite colors) frames for her to choose from. We will always be patients of PSEC because it truly is hard to find a place that cares. read more

Great experience. We saw Dr. Carlson quickly. He was great with the kids, and very friendly. The staff was very patient with us, and even helped pick out the glasses. It always helpful to get a second opinion when you ask for one. The staff really worked with me to get my glasses quickly. This is one of the WORST eye check up places I have ever been to. The eye exam cost close to $350 when at normal average cost is most $150. Moreover, Dr Ono charged me extra money for prescription that I NEVER even asked for. AVOID this place at all costs! This place provides exceptional care! They have been treating my son since he was two and with great success. He is now five and he loves his glasses! He is extremely farsighted and he has a lazy eye. With his glasses his eyesight has greatly improved and because of the doctors diligence through regular follow up exams and corrective measures his lazy eye is now straight! I can rest assured that both Dr. Carlson's (father and son) have given my son the gift of the best eye sight he could possibly obtain and they are great with children! read more

In my opinion based on several experiences by several members in our family, you'll find both the Bellevue and Seattles offices filled with uncaring, rude individuals (check out the yelp Seattle reviews for this business). We endured many mistakes over the years, but the most recent experience "sealed the deal." We had a reaction to something the doctor did during a routine eye exam, and called the Seattle office after hours line as the office message required. At 11 am the next The after-hours emergency line wasn't answered, despite several attempts Monday night. At 11 am Tuesday morning, we finally got a response to our panicked message left on the appointment line at 8 am seeking the first available appointment -- WOW, it took 15 hours after we first notiftied the offices of a problem for someone to call about getting us in to see the doctor! I shouldn't be surprised by this nonchalance -- the long waits for overbooked doctors, the shortage of staff (and unresponsiveness), the unanswered messages and unfilled orders, the nonworking emergency line, etc. all hint (scream?!) of a group that is cutting costs to maximize doctor proifits, at the expense of the patient. My advice -- go elsewhere and find someone who cares about the patient. read more
