The kitchen and side room were perfect areas for our caterer to set up food and drinks and everything stayed warm and fresh with the fridge and oven. The stage was a great place to have trophies and special awards given out and display our photo slideshow from the season on the wall behind the stage. Plenty of electrical outlets too! You could tell the kids felt so special. The night was perfect and the space was perfect. Couldn't have asked for better service from the rental manager or a better, budget friendly space. We have already booked for next year again!

The Fuquay Varina Splash Pad originally opened the summer of 2015. It opened for the current year…read moreon May 18th, 2019 and is open daily from 10 am to 7 pm. July 3rd, 2019 hours are 6 to 8pm. Normal yearly hours are Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. The 6,000 sq ft pentagon-shaped splash pad features multiple jets of streaming water from 35+ water features (devices that spray, shoot, or dump water on you). There is a giant bucket that dumps gallons of water onto anybody that stand below it. Children who are not toilet-trained yet must wear a swim diaper. Water shoes are highly recommended. There are restrooms and there is a shelter that is perfect for relaxing in the shade while kids are still in view. Though, I would check before counting on hanging out in the shelter, as it can be reserved by other people for parties. There are a few benches, but I suggest bringing your own lawn chairs. There isn't much shade so you might want to wear a hat, carry an umbrella, and wear lots of sunscreen. There is no place to store your stuff, so make sure you bring a bag that is easy to carry. Really wish there were lockers. Make sure to bring your own towels. Residents (who live within town limits and pay Fuquay Varina property tax) can visit the splash pad for free, but must have a Resident Splash Pad card (which can be picked up at the Community Center during regular business hours of Mon-Fri 8 am-9 pm; Saturday 8 am-5 pm). You have to bring a proof of residency (driver's license, a utility bill, or some other proof of residency). A new card will be issued each year. If you do not live within city-limits of Fuquay Varina or if you live in another town, there is a $2 charge per person for all-day admission (which can be paid by cash or credit card). One parent will be admitted without charge. Children under the age of 2 are free of charge. All children under 13 are required to have parental/adult supervision.

We've seen tremendous growth in their confidence, skills, and love for swimming. All the coaches have been fantastic over the years. I may not remember every name, but each one has played a role in my kids' progress. A special thank you to Coach Zachary -- he was absolutely wonderful and made a big impact. Currently, Coach Cole is doing a great job as well! The front desk team and receptionists have always been friendly, helpful, and professional. The overall environment is positive, encouraging, and very well organized. We're truly grateful for the dedication of the entire Aqua-Tots team. I filed a complaint with the USA Swimming Safe Sport and with the U.S. Center for SafeSport. However, neither of these organizations can take action against the rough coaches and the school because it is a private institution and falls outside the jurisdiction of any organization that could halt their dangerous practices. They will continue to lie on their website by stating "Safety first" while simultaneously forcing your screaming child underwater. They scared my 4-year-old. She screamed and was actively resisting, but the coach just took her and threw her into the water. I could see she was suffocating for a moment because he just forced her under water while she screamed. So lovely for a first lesson ever. How do I convince her now that swimming is fun? Coach Lucas doesn't know what he is doing at all. Disappoinment. I regret I brought my kid there.

"Tennis club/ pool/ fitness room & classes for faculty, staff, and alumni of Duke"…read more We've been coming here for 5 years now, and definitely like it overall. Best known for its multiple tennis courts, this facility also houses a large pool, a toddler pool, a lap pool, a fitness room, and basketball courts. They also regularly host activities such as an Easter Egg Hunt, Memorial Day fun events, various summer cookouts, "parents' night out" events (where they'll keep your kids occupied while you go elsewhere), etc. My personal usage has been highest for the fitness room, which has treadmills, stairmasters, bikes, and assorted weight machines and free weights. It's not a big facility, but it's convenient (on campus at Duke), rarely crowded, and with low turnover among other users (you see the same people whenever you go). It also now opens at 6am, which makes it convenient to work-out before going to work. They host various fitness/ yoga/ nia classes (I think for a fee), and you can also reserve time with fitness trainer for a fee. For those who prefer to exercise outdoors, the Faculty Club abuts the Al Buehler running trail through the Duke Forest- a beautiful (but hilly!) 2.9 or 3.6 mile loop. You can run the trail then shower and/ or do weights at the Club. The big pool opens for general use in the summer, and sometimes has limited hours, but is still a big hit especially for people who don't have a neighborhood pool and want a clean and safe facility. It's often overrun by kids on hot days or holidays, but in a good way. It has a high-dive board, a regular dive board, and a twisty-slide into the pool. There are also shaded areas for parents to wait for their kids, thank goodness! There's been a lot of recent turnover in the director position, and some have been more responsive than others, but the current director is great- very involved and responsive. A year's family membership is currently $790, and comes with full access to all facilities (though some planned activities cost money). Members can bring guests to the facility for a small fee.
