You don't even have to know how to swim since you can stay in shallow water with your feet on the ground and even signal the lifeguard if needed. There are also plenty of swimming accessories like kick-boards available for your use. The Olympic-sized pool (temp = 83 degrees F) is split into two separate areas for competition or lessons, and lap swimming. There is an additional, smaller therapy pool which is kept at 89 degrees F. Great place to take the kids and wear them out . . . especially when its cold outside. Kiddie pool goes as deep as 3-4 ft, its heated, and they offer free life jackets of all different sizes. I think it costs about 2-3 dollars a person but there are options available if you buy in bulk. My only gripe is that they have a single family changing room and it can backed up sometimes when the place gets busy. If you don't mind taking your child into the adult locker rooms, it wouldn't be a problem though. Lucky to have it around read more

So nice to have lovely and affordable indoor pools in this beautiful park. There is a smaller one for kids or instructional and a bigger pool for laps and rec swimming. Clean and easy to access (stairs in the big pool, ramp in the small) and also has a chair lift in the big pool if you're disabled. Very affordable. read more

Ok pool, it's insane that they use my tax money to build a facility then proceed to charge me four dollars a visit (which adds up considering I go frequently). Was in the stall in the men's locker room and the man next to me had a freak out because he saw a huge spider, it was very uncomfortable for me. I will give them credit in their placement of the handicap rails, which are very useful indeed. Tight security, the lady at the front desk actually used a pen to make sure my one dollar bills weren't counterfeit. read more

This review is for the warm water therapy pool. So far, so good. The staff are friendly and the pool is the right temperature, 89 degrees, and depth, 4 feet. They have a lot of availability if you can go in the morning-- most days are open until 12pm or so. The only issue is that the surrounding air and the locker rooms are freezing. Since I go to aquatic therapy for a disability, it is very hard on my body to get out of the pool and have nowhere warm to go. Some heat in the locker rooms would be really useful or at least showers that warm up enough (they stay pretty tepid). The cold can be painful and undo some of what I've accomplished in the pool. read more

While Pullen Park impresses, the pool does not. Over priced for what you get. I've spent the same on aquatic centers with a lot more features. I couldn't get over the odor in the shallow pool. Not typical chlorine smell, just an offensive smell overall that carried over to myself and my son as well as our hair. The larger pool is too cool for recreational swimming. Very dimly lit as half the lights were out throughout the place. I've certainly had better indoor pool experiences then here, even just with the YMCA. I wouldn't recommend. read more

I have MS and joined a warm water exercise class10 years ago. It took a couple of years, but I am now stronger and have better balance. The instructor is fabulous and the other people in the class are fun and supportive. On days I don't have class, we sometimes come with our grandchildren. They also love the pool whether they're playing on the shallow side or swimming in the deep water. read more

Ok..I've been to this aquatic center a few times with my son. Each time he uses the life vest I bought him. Each visit to pullen park no one has said anything about this life vest. It fits perfectly, he stays afloat, and he jumps in with no fear because he loves the water. Now this visit was different...So my son who is thrilled to have a pool day jumps in the deep end. I do note he had his life vest on. For me, no big deal he's a toddler let me grab him and move him out the swim lane. Before the embarrassing part I want to note that my son was floating, head above water, and happy to be in the pool. So..as I'm reaching in to pull him out the lane this older life guard is screaming NO NO NO!!I see him approaching and state that I'm getting him out. He proceeds to blow his whistle as loud as possible, jump in the pool and bring my son out. Now come on sir..I was grabbing my perfectly safe son who was in no danger out the pool and he made a huge scene. After he grabbed my son out the pool the life guard said nothing to me I was just confused. The life guard proceeded to ignore me and then kicked his red life guard tube in anger and walked away from us. I was so shocked and embarrassed! Confused, I had asked another life guard what is the fuss about? He said toddlers can't be in the deep end..I said ok why couldn't that other life guard say anything instead of loosing his temper and kicking his equipment?? So my son and I moved to the shallow end. So he jumps in and AGAIN the same life guard that got angry finally spoke up and he screamed at us HE CANT HAVE THAT LIFE VEST ON. Considering this is the third time he's been here and the third time he has had this life vest on I was confused. A closer life guard asked me if that life vest was safe to use and I told him yes he's been using it all summer. I asked the kinder lifeguard how come no one had said ANYTHING before but today I'm getting screamed at, a lifeguard looses his temper, and getting whistled at every time my son jumps in? He just said I don't know but use our life vest. Ok so I get out and take my sons life vest off and put on their old, moldy, worn out vest they have there on. I mean they were disgusting!! So my son grabs a ball we planned on playing with together. He jumps in with the new vest on and it was 10x's worse than the one he already had on. At least the one I bought kept him higher above the water!! So we get in with his new moldy pullen vest and start playing with his ball. Again the angry lifeguard scolds is the whole time. Finally a nicer life guard said "I was just told you couldn't use the ball in the water". I said ok..wow what can I use?! He just shrugged his shoulders. So I took the ball out the water. The rest of my visit my son still had a blast even when we had nothing to play with. I will never return to this place! I used to be a life guard, I actually did some of my training at pullen, and was on the swim team for school and rec. When I was a life guard I was never that mean to someone. I don't know the name of the life guard but you were not saving my son, you were making a scene. You never spoke to us but kicked your equipment in anger. Put yourself in my shoes..you don't think that's a little much?..But don't worry I'm never coming back read more
