The Triangle Aquatic Center is one of the most impressive swim facilities I have visited. The competition pool, warm‑up pool, and overall deck layout make it a fantastic venue for meets and training. My swimmer had a great experience in the water during the Speedo Sr. Sectionals. What TAC does exceptionally well: * Top‑tier aquatic setup with multiple pools, plenty of lanes, and a fast competition environment. * Convenient location right off Convention Drive with a large parking area and overflow options during big meets. * On‑site café and swim shop, which is a lifesaver during long meet days. A few things to know before you go: * Spectator seating can get crowded during major meets, and sightlines aren't perfect for every lane--pretty common for big aquatic centers, but worth planning for. This is an exceptional aquatic facility! They have several pools indoors and another outdoor for the swimmers. It is nice to have a facility dedicated to swimming vs having to share with water polo. The air quality in one indoor pool near the outdoor pool appears to be questionable, but it appears they could have the doors open for more ventilation as an option. Very well kept and always staffed if you have any questions needing to be answered. They even have a swim gear vending machine, which has come in handy several times! The only thing that I could think of to change is the metal wire barrier in the bleacher section--glass would make more sense so you can view the pool and make for easier viewing/taping during meets. read more

Triangle Aquatic Center aka as TAC is a nice indoor aquatic facility. TAC is a large USA Gold medal club in Cary, NC. The TAC Titans operate out of the facility. I have volunteered as an official a few years at their Winter champs meet. My son has competing in the pool with success. The location is behind the Cary Mall. Surface parking is limited. Overflow is nearby in the mall lot. They will soon be in the process of expanding the lot. The 50 meter pool is great and offers fast racing competition. They also have a 25 yard warm up/cool down pool. The spectator area has fantastic views of swimming if watching the main pool. The biggest draw back is poor air quality when running large swim meets. This has been a reoccurring issue. Overall the facility appears well maintained. Behind the building plans have been drawn for a second 50 meter outdoor training pool the team. Ground has not broken and funds are still being secured. It might not be completed until 2022. I'm sure I will be back, but have no plans in 2020. Tough call, but 3.5 rounding down due to air quality issues that persist. read more

They really have improved on this place! Besides having a 50 meter pool they have a 25 meter workout pool and a warmer teaching pool. When you go in to lap swim make sure you call or check the website- look at the events and the lap swim hours! I find the hours change all the time. The front desk people are ok depending on who is working. The pool area is clean. If you forgot your fins, noodle or kick board that is ok they have extra to borrow. The pace clocks are easy to read. The lifeguards are Very nice and friendly. The locker room is always clean. read more

This business doesn't care at all about individual members----only focused on teams and meets. I became a member about two months ago, and have learned that schedules mean nothing. The website is not accurate. They send out email schedules that are completely inaccurate. You can call to make sure the pool is open and even that info. isn't correct. Long-time members have told me it's always been poorly run. Last Thursday the pool was supposed to open at 9:30 according to their email, website and a phone call to the pool. I got there and the was told the pool wouldn't open until 10:00, then was told 10:30 then was told it would open at all. The same happened today. Don't waste your time or money with this facility. Update: Pool was supposed to be open all day. Called before going. Called from the car. Both times was told the pool is open. Got there and they said all pools are closed. Nothing like wasting your morning and not getting your exercise for the day. Lots of pissed-off people in the lobby. Beyond poor. read more

I've only come here a few times for open swim, and it was only $5.50 for a day pass, which I thought was very reasonable. One of the times, open swim was limited to the smaller pool, but I've also been able to swim in the larger pool, which is nicer. I usually go on my weekday off around 9 or 10am, and there is still a decent number of people, but it's usually not over crowded. The locker rooms and showers are very basic and you have to bring your own shampoo, soap, towel, etc. They provide lockers, but you need to bring your own lock. So it's pretty bare bones, and while I didn't find it to be super dirty, it wasn't the cleanest, either. It serves a purpose for me, though - a decent indoor swimming facility to use when I need it for only $5.50 per visit. There is a monthly membership I can join, but I don't use it often enough to justify it. read more

WARNING: Swim lessons/classes require unconventional self-driven scheduling based on limited availability, forcing you to "fight for spots". Money focused operation. Extremely poor management. Reviews from other poster's demonstrated an ongoing toxicity perpetuated by Mr. Mark Frank and tolerated by Triangle Aquatic Center. After searching for some local programs, I came across Triangle Aquatic Center, and was pretty excited. I performed the online registration on my mobile phone, paying an annual registration fee of $39 for each of my two children along with $129 for each for a six session "package". I was a little confused by this "package", as the way it was represented on the site, I could schedule my kids for a Tuesday 5:00-5:30 class. Unfortunately, I quickly realized this is not the case. In actuality, TAC requires you to to self-schedule lessons based on availability. So for example, they might have 4 slots open for a Tuesday 5:00-5:30 class one week, but that class would be full (all the slots taken) the following week. Unfortunately, this wasn't going to work for my family and schedule. We desired a consistent schedule and didn't want to "fight for spots" as it were with other participants. I called to confirm this, because again, this seemed very unconventional and seemed to be more about making money and full utilization of their facilities and personnel versus making it convenient for participants. I first spoke to a Valencia, who confirmed my apprehensions. I requested a refund and she took my information and said someone would get back to me. About 30 minutes later, I received a call from Elisa Bowie. I again explained the situation and requested a refund, explaining I desired a consistent schedule and didn't want to "fight for spots", as it were. She immediately and unequivocally stated, "We do not issue refunds" in a very condescending and rude tone. I asked if there was a manager or supervisor to whom I could speak, and she said she would pass the issue onto a Mr. Mark Frank, Director of Operations. About 30 minutes later I received a curtly worded email from Mr. Frank dismissing my explanation that their scheduling practices are not clearly represented on their website (specifically mobile) nor intuitive. He further stated he would "consider a refund" if I let him know ASAP. At this point, I really don't want my children being around such poor role models (i.e. if they treat adults this way, imagine how they treat children) and as requested by Mr. Frank, reply to his email requesting the refund, noting that if he decided not to issue a refund that I would be forced to escalate the issue. Only 3-4 hours had passed since I actually made my purchase. Mr. Frank then replied with an extremely rude email stating among other things that I "didn't read or follow the instructions on the website". Mr. Mark Frank also wrote, "I know that if I paid $129 for something I'd do a little more preparation than you did". And finally, he ended the email with "We will happily refund your 6-lesson pack today, cancel your evaluation and not have to deal with you and your threats any further". Again, not sure these are the best folks serving as role models and instructors for children. Too bad, because it looks like a nice facility, but obviously poor management. read more

The pool availability is disappointing here. Every time I've been here, the large pool is exclusively used by the children's swim teams and sometime the small pool is occupied by classes. It's difficult to have a consistent workout program when you don't know how crowded the workout space will be. read more

The facility has horrible spectator seating with staff not even doing the bare minimum to assist. My child worked so hard to be able to attend age groups, we traveled at no small expense to be here but I didn't get to see him because of lane assignment. The decision was made to not show the video of the 11-12 pool and so the laces 7&8 were not visible. It was awful even when you kid wasn't swimming because you couldn't even tell who was winning the heat with the awful view. The staff just ignored everyone and went about their day. Hopefully big meets can start going to Greensboro because this was awful. read more

What a tough experience. The facility itself is fine, I guess. Mark Frank is awful. The site lines suck, and that's where the problem starts. They block off a couple rows up front to "view" with virtually no direction given (except not to use flash photography - a nonsensical direction to begin with) on how this is supposed to operate in reality. What ends up happening is parents either camp out too far ahead of the heat, or stand up because A. They can't see even from the front row, or B. the people in front are standing, or C. the safety wires stretching across the balcony railing make focusing on the pool beyond a challenge. Regardless, about once per hour, Mark Frank, will come up and yell aggressively at the offenders. He doesn't identify himself - so it leaves many wondering who this crazy person is. Then, he never even comes down to the front, he stops about halfway down the aisle. Finally, he refuses to consistently enforce the rules and refuses to engage in any productive dialogue. Numerous parents complained about him personally. Totally turned us off to the team and the facility. He's probably even the person who replies to these reviews... read more

This is a great place to swim even at 5 in the morning! I am currently a PCHS swimmer and love this facility more than anywhere we have ever competed/practiced. The staff is very friendly to all of the kids from all different high schools and their coaches. They really made a warm and welcome place. The pools have a good depth, perfect for starts, and is usually pretty warm. The facilities are also very clean all of the time. The only problem I have is that if I want to go for a practice during the weekends, there is almost always a meet so we can't practice. Overall this is an awesome facility and we love swimming here. read more

The long course pool belongs to the Titans and once in a blue moon you can squeeze in. If u are a member of the Titans it's great, for personal swimming its total crap. I can get a 25 yd pool at the Y and have full workout facilities. On top of that, in this day and age, they can't keep an online calendar schedule updated with those rare times long course swim lanes are open. The management and strategic thinking at this pool is poor. My wife and I have just moved from Greensboro where we had the world class Greensboro Aquatic Center which is just completing its 4th pool (2nd 50 m pool). My diving class and I spent a few sessions at Triangle Aquatic Center. At first I thought my Google Maps is messing with me again. How can there be a competition size swimming pool sitting right beside Cary Towne Center, and I have never seen it before? Well well, what do you know?! There is one! "Excuse me? Where is the dive pool?" "Oh, it's downstair to the right. You can take the elevator downstair too." It will be fine and dandy if the elevator actually worked for me, but at this point I'm already used to carrying 30+ lbs of tank along with all the gears. Good for them for keeping a competition level facility. The kiddies get their separate tiny knee-high pool, inside their own soundproof room, and other splashers (not swimmers) get the regular size; only the swimmers (and us divers) with purpose get the speed lanes. This way I never had to worry about swimming the lane or on a dive ascend, someone decides to CANNNNONBALLLL~! on top of me. Silly as it seem (to me,) but there are actually gym equipments inside the Aquatic Center as well. If I don't already live across town on East Raleigh side, I might've considered being a regular here. read more

In the age of covid, where parents aren't permitted in the pool to watch the kids swim, TAC charges $20 for the privilege of their live feed for a single meet. Every other venue we've swam in the past year has offered it for free. Since most swim meets here don't have spectator entrance fees in normal years (swimmers pay to compete), this is a pure money grab capitalizing on covid restrictions. read more

It's a decent place for swimmers for toddlers or for older kids. I've been pretty fine with this place until my son turns 5. They don't have a family locker room for mixed gender, so boys older than 4 have to go home to shower if mom is coming with him. Not even sure where they can use restroom as that is in the locker room. Nor where to change clothes. I asked this at front desk, and the answer was that we don't have family room. They have unisex bathroom for only staff & coaches. It is a bit rundown place but it lets you buy day pass, and it seems they do lots of swimming meets, and that all sounds great. Just don't think it is a great place for a family. read more

This place is highly dysfunctional. Schedules change constantly and usually at the very last minute, it's not uncommon to get an email (or not) an hour before practice changing times, drop off instructions, or canceling. We've seen groups of young children (age 7-9) just sitting with no supervision waiting for parents to come back (hopefully your kid knows your ph#) and pick them up because class was canceled and no parents were notified (luckily my wife planned to park and wait). I've had instances where my 9 year-old child was told to get off the phone and stop playing with it by a coach when he's trying to call his mother to come get him because the class got out 15 minutes early without any prior notice to parents. Coming from a swim background I've seen much better and frankly I haven't seen worse. There are better options I would recommend any parent to explore. read more

I would consider the aquatic center average. Through my job I take kids here on field trips, and they have a good time here especially because they get to swim in the off season. The lifeguards aren't the greatest, the last time we went there one was actually sleeping. Like literally passed out. And they only come to each pool for fifteen minutes then rotate, so I don't know how she even managed to fall asleep so fast. But if there was a kid actually drowning, she would have been no help. I did not find this very comforting, and would have really appreciated employees who were with it and doing their jobs. There are three pools, one that is shallow for children who are weak swimmers, and two olympic sized lap pools. The lap pools are freezing, which is ok considering you should be creating body heat as you exercise. The small pool is much warmer but there is SO MUCH chlorine that it burns your eyes so bad. I had kids literally rubbing their eyes for the rest of the day, and I felt the same way. I understand that chemicals are needed to keep the pool clean but they could really tone it down a bit. read more

We moved here from another state. At the previous location, the instructors learned the children's names in the class and and actively taught swimming techniques as well as correcting the children during each lesson. We were unfortunate to get an instructor by the name of Ashley. She spent most of the instruction period chatting with people near the pool and not observing the children in the lesson. She never got to know the kids' names in the 6 week class either. I cannot say that my child got an iota of instruction in the entire 6 weeks. By the end of the 5th week, my wife sent an email to the director. From what I can tell, he took no corrective action with the instructor. I am sure that are are good instructors at the TAC. Having worked with swim instructors over the years, I have just seen the worst. read more

This is about the Warm water pool. I recently moved to the area and need to find a pool I can do my aquatic physical therapy in. This is not it. The Good: - The temperature is therapeutic at about 89 degrees - It's in a separate room so the surrounding area stays warm too which is necessary for PT - The staff are friendly The Bad: - The depth of the pool is only 3.5 feet. This is way too low for PT and I'm only 5'7" - The chlorine is so heavy that it BLEACHED MY BATHING SUIT even though I rinsed it as soon as I got home 15 minutes after I got out. It also turned the white parts of my mom's suit yellow. Never wear anything but an old dingy suit to this pool. It seemed like the pool hadn't been drained and refilled in years - The sides of the pool had cracks, missing tiles, and scum build-up. The search continues. read more

I really, really want to love this place. The facility has the potential to be absolutely beautiful; however, in reality it is very poorly maintained. The beautiful competition pool is rarely open for public swimming hours, instead the option for lap swimmers is an overly warm children's activity pool which has a lot of dirt that has accumulated on the bottom. Almost without exception I get an ear infection when swimming in this pool. The competition pool is much cleaner but again there is almost no access. The showers are shocking. After years, there are no shower heads on the showers. Most stalls are broken (water flow, curtains), so you have to try a few to get a functioning shower. The lock room is so humid that it is almost impossible to get dressed. This facility was a huge investment, so why not put in the money/effort to maintain it? Certainly there is enough tax money in Cary and if not the entrance fees are high enough to cover maintanance. The current state of the facility is really unacceptable and unhealthy, the management owes it to the community to do a better job. read more

Regarding kids birthday parties, don't bother. Way expensive and way disappointing hosts. Them seem unorganized and not particularly happy you are there. The only saving grace was that the obstacle course was a hit. But it adds $100. There are far better values for birthday parties. Move on. read more

The facility itself is very nice, although locker room cleanliness is hit or miss. Communication and knowledgeability of the staff seems to be non-existent. Neither the front desk nor the lifeguards really know which lap lanes are open til what time. I've been assured more than once that the lane I'm using will be staying open til X time, only to be evicted by a swim team 5 minutes later. The website is vague and confusing at best, and doesn't specify that 'lap swim' is considered 'recreational' or when 'non-prime time' is. I asked for more information online and FB messenger, and the response was to 'call for more information', but unsurprisingly my call wasn't answered or returned and I still don't know what hours a 'non prime time ' pass would be valid for. read more

What a shame this facility is.. I have never seen mismanagement of this epic proportions. I enrolled my 12 year old for 12 sessions and took him for the first session. During the session I got to witness swim team practice... probably more than 100 kids were swimming in a pool that was split in two parts. half of the kids in the swim team practice were rolling eyes while a high school kid who was supposed to be the coach was providing instructions. Another high school kid standing on the sideline was watching this. I pointed him that half of the kids arent paying attention and the response I got was " we cant help" !!! I cancelled the 12 sessions I had paid for right away and asked for refund. Its been 3 months I am still waiting for the refund money... read more

It's a shame that no review has been posted in over a year. The facility is truly one of the finest aquatic centers in the U.S. The current staff is extremely professional and helpful. The lesson programs are now the finest offered in the Triangle Area and continue to get better. As the center approaches its 10 year anniversary, it has grown to be a world class aquatic center. I began at this pool in May of '18 and have never looked back. Management has slashed their prices; it's less than a fourth of what the Y charges. I am always interested in long course swimming in the summer, and b/c the Olympics are approaching, they're putting the 50-meter pool in the long course formation much more often. Case in point: since late March I have swum every single Mon.-Fri. (have not missed a day) exclusively in long course until last week. Beginning in mid June I swam every Mon., Wed., Thurs. and Fri. at 11:30 a.m. and not only got long course, but usually my own lane. Tuesdays I had to come in at noon instead. When school's in, I swim at 8:00 a.m. and the long course is available plenty. Serious swimmer in the triangle? Go only to TAC. read more

If you want good communication -go somewhere else. You can call or email till your blue in the face and no one will return your call or email. Customer service is a big fat 0. Now if you want a swim coach there are a few good ones-as long as your paying them thats all they care about. During a meet ice was spilled all over the floor and a kid slipped and hurt themselves right in front of life guards at office on pool deck. They didnt even bother to sweep it out of the way parents did and when it was brought to they're attention it was like "oh" in a lazy manner. read more

This is still a fantastic swimming facility. Yes, there is a bit of maintenance the locker rooms could use, but the new food area is very nice, and having a swim store in the building is great! For the amount of money they charge for monthly lap swimming, you'd think you'd be walking into an aquatic palace. No. The (women's) locker rooms are filthy, showers don't have heads and just sort of spray... Bathroom doors don't work and/or are often out of order. There is also not an adult/kid locker room, so enjoy changing out in front of 8 year old girls... Kinda makes you feel like a creep. Not impressed, wish I would have just stayed at the Y, which is at least always spotless. read more

The classes for toddlers have been really hit or miss. The first class we signed up for we had FOUR different instructors. For a six-week class. It was ridiculous to the point that parents enrolled in the class complained and they gave us a credit towards a future class. The next class was a bit better but like others have mentioned, instructors don't bother to learn the names of the kids or seem to particularly care about their job. It seems that this facility would benefit greatly from hiring a new manager for their classes and teach the high schoolers who are instructors what customer service actually means. I doubt we will be enrolling for a third class here. read more

Triangle Aquatic Center is an amazing place to go and swim, eat, and buy swim gear. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly, and the life guards are attentive. The Front Desk will greet you with a smile, give you information about the pool and facility, then you go down to the deck where the amazing lifeguards are there making sure everyone is safe and having fun. The lobby is clean and you can tell everyone is doing their best to make YOU, the customer, feel happy and relaxed! The classes they offer are extremely helpful for people of ALLLLLL ages! You get a workout, you feel amazing, and you want to keep coming back! The customer service here is worthy of 6/5 stars. You can tell the staff members love working there, too! I would recommend this place to all my friends, my family, and strangers! All of the bad reviews have been noticed and worked on. The small, warm pool is amazing for your joints, the medium size pool is PERFECT for practice swimming, and the large pool is chilly at first, but it feels amazing when you're trying to get a real good workout in!
