Ann Marie and Liz's classes will work you harder than many others like Orangetheory and F45 and are fast moving and fun! They are both awesome instructor/trainers. We took a circuit cardio and weight class with Leslie on a Saturday morning. She. Is. A. Beast! What a workout. Do what you can and just keep moving. She changes up the routine a little each week. My friend is a trainer here so I have taken several classes at Pulse, Bellevue Barre and Energy Row. The classes at pulse can be pretty pricey, $25 for walk-in. I have taken advantage of sales they have such as Crazy Committed this past spring which was 20 classes for $120 within 5-6 weeks. the rowing studio has cheaper class passes which is great because they kick your ass. the bellevue barre classes are mostly taught by salve students, they do a great job and I have tried them on free trial. All classes have been taught very professionally and they kick ass! they have a good thing going and the studios are easy to get to and always clean great space. My favorite classes are rowing and spinning with Amber, and Muscle Max with Leslie always has be crazy sore for the next couple of days. They use the mind body app which makes it easy to schedule classes and check the schedule. read more

I really enjoy working out at Pulse. Its three studios offer a variety of classes, none of which have any intimidation factor. In every class I've taken, the instructors have offered modifications and encourage you to go at a pace that is most comfortable (and safe) for you. While the phrase "boot camp" has always made me nervous, there's nothing to fear (or dread) at a Pulse boot camp. With encouragement and positive motivation, participants can achieve their fitness goals in a supportive environment. The instructors are kind and welcoming and they help to foster a sense of community among the clients and class participants, a welcome change from some other studios that I've visited on the island. read more

This is by far the best place in newport to workout wether it's a class or one of their boot camps. I moved to newport in January and have totally fell in love. I have done every group exercise class under the sun and Jacki's beach Bootcamp is amazing. It's hard work but she keeps you motivated and there's always variety. I recently had the pleasure (read Pain) of attending a class at Pulse (Kettlebells with Kathy Martin, one of the owners.) I can't say enough about how effective a trainer Kathy was and how welcoming I was made to feel as an new class member. Kathy clearly has a vast knowledge of personal training and physical therapy. I love working out at Pulse! After several months working out on my own at another gym with zero progress, I started doing bootcamps at Pulse with Jacki. After 6 months I've lost about 20 lbs and finally fit back into my pre-baby jeans. Having the accountability of someone making sure I show up and pushing me to work harder made a huge difference for me. The workouts are never boring, and Jacki is great about adjusting workouts for all levels. It's worth paying a little more to actually get results. So last night was my first experience with the Pulse Newport family, in which I attended their Bellevue Barre, Williams Street, Newport location for a Hip Hop Dance class. I'm a former college athlete who's big into the Crossfit/running scene right now, so taking a dance class has NEVER been on my agenda, let alone a hip hop one [although I'd always been interested]. I literally have no coordination and my dance level skill is akin to Elaine from Seinfeld. My friend asked me to join her and I was able to get another one of my friends to tag along to share in my humility. Boy was I shocked at how it all went down... in the best way possible. Our trainer was a southern belle, Amber Royal. I couldn't have asked for a better instructor for my first dance class. Talk about positive energy and helping every single individual master the dance at hand. When she first showed us what we would be learning I thought she was absolutely crazy to think my uncoordinated self would ever be able to get those movements down. But let me tell you. Amber breaks it down so simply and relates movements to easy resemblances it was impossible not to get the steps down! She really took the time to answer any questions, break steps down as far as possible, and repeat the movements until everyone was comfortable and getting it down. Once you get the 8 count down, get ready to repeat repeat repeat... aka sweat sweat and sweat.. aka worrrrrk those bodies. I think I smiled the whole class!I I can't wait to take another of Amber's classes! I know she does some bootcamp/rowing/ and other classes that I want to try because I know it's going to be fun, positive, and a complete butt-kick! read more

Love Love Love this gym! Just yesterday I showed up to a class that had been cancelled do to the instructor being sick- So I'm thinking haha no workout for me! As I tried to slink out unnoticed,Jackie,who was just finishing her class stopped and ordered me onto the treadmill! Well then another poor soul shows up and she doesnt let him slide either! She gave us a circuit to do,put on the music,didn't allow us to slack off,gave us a great workout(OUCH) and gave up her down time before her NEXT class to make sure we got our workout in,and we left happy,hurting customers!!! read more

I've been searching for a gym where I could have access to fun, knowledgeable, motivational trainers, learn something new every visit, and get more out of my time spent at the gym. Jacki's DIY workouts are perfect! Challenging, get me out of my comfort zone, force me to try new things, to work harder and set new goals, and best part? They're included in my membership! If I'm not familiar with an exercise or piece of equipment, there's always a trainer available to give a quick lesson. If I need the motivation a group I can take a class or if I want to drown the world out with my headphones I can just grab a diy workout card and get it done. I used to spend 1.5+ hours at the gym and was stuck in a routine rut. Now I'm spending way less time at the gym and have hit my body fat goal in just 30 days of mixing up the workouts.
