The fact is : this is the Pomona Fairplex. Where, just like, the Los Angeles county fair, the location provides a variety of entertainment for all ages. Some will enjoy rv shows, others will come for the drag racing, and others will visit the variety of shows that are hosted, such as the annual 5k 10k and 1/2 marathons. From side shows to street food, the Fairplex provides an ambiance that's fun for everyone and great for family moments. Huge place, best to just use the parking area it offers. Pricy, but what can one do. Prepare to walk and a lot. Score is 3.75 a bit older location, but serves its needs. A modernization would be in need. read more

I was looking to end the Halloween season in SoCal with something new and fun, many of the people on Youtube and IG that I follow raved about this place and despite the less than stellar reviews on Yelp I decided to check it out. I will admit that the price for admission and parking was a little more on the expensive side but I tried to get past that. I went on the last weekend they were open hoping that it wouldn't be too crowded but considering it was a Saturday night they were quite a few people here. I did like the unique use of pumpkins and many of the areas were really spooky, this definitely is a one of a kind experience. The only downsides are that the lines for all of the unique photo ops were very long and the event itself wasn't a big as I'd expected. They seemed to have crammed a lot in a small area, they definitely should have utilized the entire Fairplex and that would have made it totally worth it for me. Pumpkin Nights is very family friendly and a cool place to go with your significant other. I liked that they had an area that was showing "A Nightmare Before Christmas". One of the areas that blew me away was of course the Pumpkin Passage which features 600 hand carved jack o'lanterns, it was so beautiful and made for some really great photos. I'd never seen anything like that, one of a kind! My other favorite are was the pirate area, the entrance featured a full pirate ship and "Yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me" was playing. There were Jack Sparrow and other pirate jack o' lanterns and the area was complete with florescent lights and it was really amazing how they set up that area. This event also had a nice variety of food and drink booths, of course your typical fair food such as corn dogs, tacos, mini donuts, various drinks, funnel cakes and so on. Not sure what all the negative reviews are about but this is my second year coming to this event and no regrets. First off, tickets run about $20 per adult and $17 per kid. They do a reduced price before 8pm. Parking is $12 but however well worth it if you are coming in a group. The decor and pumpkins are beautiful. We took my 6 year old niece and she loved running around to look at everything. When we first walked in it was a bit crowded. We had the 7:30pm slot but spent a bit of time looking at the stands near the entrance. By the time we started the actual pumpkin land the line died down quite a bit. The pumpkin tunnel is my favorite. So many unique expressions and let lit. They have a bug area then it leads into spiders then Harry Potter. They even had a real owl. It winds down into an oriental themed area with a dragon and then into an under the sea section. They do have a outdoor movie area along with seating. There a multiple stands selling popcorn, candy and snacks. They were showing Nightmare before Christmas when we went. They also had pumpkin carving artists were which neat to watch. Like I said, there is plenty to do which I think is well worth the price. On your way out there are jumpers for kids and a small pumpkin patch. This was our first time attending the night of the Jack. Yes it is on the expensive side, but it was worth it to us. I don't think they should charge for parking but everything else was great. Tons of pics with the kids and a great way to bring in Halloween. The pumpkin carvings are incredible, and all the decorations and design is great. It's a great outdoor activity and just all the lights make it so fun. Halfway into the trail there are bathrooms and a little bit of snack vendors. We love it and we will definitely be back. WELL, A FOR EFFORT! 12 DOLLAR PARKING IS BS! I only wanted to go to see the Harry Potter pumpkins, and that's where my two stars come from, lol However, we quickly realized how unorganized this shit really was. . . It's basically a place to take selfies / group pics and that's about it. lol Throughout the trail, there's literally stops every 2 seconds to take pictures and it's fucking annoying. I don't mind that there's fake pumpkins, I don't mind the lines, I don't mind the overpriced food, but what I do mind is the 12 dollar parking to stand in line for the cluster fuck of a trail. The tour is literally 15 minutes (maybe less) but with all the people trying to take a selfie or group pictures in the middle of the trail which does not move AT ALL is not worth coming for. This place is carving out all the fun... literally! :D Went on a weeknight early. If you buy a four pack of tickets you save a little bit of cash. I bought our tickets online in advance but I saw some people buying tickets on site. Wasn't super crowded at all. When you first walk in just looks like a small little fair with a couple boots set up and bounce house. But as you explore on a little more you enter the hall of pumpkins (great picture spot) and then onto the all the pumpkin lands. I had fun with my 7 year old walking through. There is a fun little game you can play walking through all the themed "lands". If you play the game and decipher the code you get a little prize at the end. In one of the lands they had a buried treasure spot where kids 12 and under can look for a coin to also redeem for a prize. Each themed place had really cool intricate pumpkins! I personally loved the Harry Potter ones. Inside there also a setup for a movie, another bounce house, see saws, hula hoops, corn hole, etc. I liked that there was staff and ring lights set up for families to take pictures, that was super rad. There isn't a ton of food options but just enough. There was a hot dog on a stick booth, a fair type booth serving up pizzas and pretzels type food, funnel cake booth, and a beer stand. I did notice they sold the Stella wine at that booth as well. My son had a good time getting a sugar rush and then going crazy with the other kids on the bounce house. There also little pumpkin patches with stuff for sale as well. It was a fantastic Halloween family friendly activity! It wasn't too expensive and parking was free on the night that I went! Decided to come to Pumpkin Nights after seeing so many photos on IG. Tickets were about $20 per person (excluding fees) so I paid a total of a little under $50 for 2 people. The price wasn't too bad, so I figured why not. Parking is also $12 but there is a lot of parking available. I really liked the decorations and the whole idea of pumpkin nights. I just wish it was more spread out or the photo-op areas had a staff member to filter people out. It was really crowded and people took forever taking photos, we spent most of our time waiting in line for photos. Overall, I don't really regret coming to Pumpkin Nights, but I probably won't be back any time soon. If you can, I'd recommend coming on a weeknight to avoid all the families. read more

It's a different experience than a traditional pumpkin patch for the family. They started later in the afternoon since a lot of the installations lite up at night. I highly recommend buying tickets soon if you plan on going on the weekend, and of course as halloween comes closer I'm sure this event will sell out. Very family friendly event with 8 different themed lands using pumpkins (not real), but so realistic. I was really impressed with the decor and the layout of the event. It's very interactive; not only are there lots of photo ops there is a quest that attendees can participate in to win a prize (pumpkin pin). Before you venture off be sure to take a picture of the symbol legend for your reference. For kids there is an activity near the pirate area where they dig in the sand for a token to redeem for a pumpkin at the end. Lots of entertainment. They play Coco, which many families were watching, and have a fire show twice a night. When I attended I was able to watch a portion of an artist carving a Cheshire cat, who displayed his other carvings as well. Depending on the day you attend they may have face painting and themed nights (check the daily schedule online). They have a few vendors on site selling food, treats, beer, and drinks. I don't know which was worse, this event or last year's Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns. Shockingly, I'll say last year's event had more to see, but both were very underwhelming and disappointing. Kids will like this, but adults will be very underwhelmed and bored once again like last year. The company's website portrayed the event to be one of the most fabulous, memorable fall events of the year...NOT! I saw NO fire-breathing dancers, no food trucks, and the pumpkins were the plastic types you can get at the 99 Cent Store and the actual hand-carved real ones were just a couple tucked away with the two carvers in a not very viewable area. The little food that was there was some stale-looking cookies and brownies. My fiance' & I hadn't eaten all day so as to save our appetites, only to be extremely let down with the food too. We headed somewhere else right after to get food. We also had to change dates, so, unfortunately, that grand total I paid included another $10 date-change fee. I don't normally complain & if something is fabulous, I'll take the time to say so. So I paid a total of $72.82 for two people to be there for exactly 15 minutes. For not much more, I could have gone to Knott's Berry Farm! Apparently, the dancers, food trucks, etc. were only there during certain parts of the night. And I would have stayed longer if there was information on the website or signs at the place of when the dancers, trucks, etc. would be happening. So now ALL the 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, and maybe 6:30 and maybe certain later time attendees completely missed the entertainment, yet they're charging the same price to everyone. They need to announce on the website or have signs like at amusement parks that say the showtimes for dancers are at (6:45, 8:00, and 9:30 for example). Another unfair thing is that someone else who wrote a review here said (the normally $12) parking was free on the night they went. Why did they get free parking? Went here a few weeks back since my friend got me a ticket for my birthday. Our reservation time was 9pm and the event closes at 10pm. I didn't do too much research into the event and thought it would be similar to the one I went to Descanso Gardens for their pumpkin event a few years back that had all real pumpkins and each one carved out. When we got to the parking lot parking was included with our tickets, so we were able to just drive on in after talking to the worker. We headed toward the entrance that involved getting your bag checked and then made our way to the first photo opportunity, which was a big pumpkin that had the name of the event carved into it encircled with small pumpkins at the base with different faces and lights in them. They were all made of plastic, so I thought this was because this was something to bring to each event as a permit fixture. After taking our photos, we walked to the little pumpkin patch they have where they have pumpkins you can actually buy to carve out and had a small booth where they sold merchandise for the event too. They also had carnival rides and food booths too, but we weren't able to explore every nook and cranny since our reservation for the event was so late. We made our way to the actual pumpkins for display and I soon realized that a lot of the pumpkins were made out of plastic, but the cool designs they had evened out my want for seeing actual carved pumpkins. To get to the actual pumpkin displays, you walk through a tunnel of stringed pumpkins that bared many different faces. Afterwards you get to a table that has a challenge you can play involving finding characters on a pumpkin linked to a letter that would spell out a word that filled in the blank that would tell you how to keep the magic of Halloween alive. We took a picture of the code and made our way into the 7 different areas. I liked how each section was a different theme and the little description they had for each theme. Each area offered great photo opportunities and great detail revolved around the themes. It sucked that we were rushed to go through the different areas since it was a bit past 10pm when we were a little over the halfway point of getting through everything. We did miss two out of the seven symbols, but I managed to figure out the word without them and the guy at the end was nice enough to give us the prize, which was a cute little souvenir to take from the night. We attended "Pumpkin Nights" last night (Wednesday, 10/23). Our timed entry was for 6-6:30 p.m. My goal was to arrive early so it would not be crowded, especially since we brought my almost 3-year-old granddaughter with us. Parking was very easy and up close. Yes, it cost $12 but *every* event at the fairgrounds charges to park, so I don't fault the vendor for that. I am pretty sure that the fairgrounds pockets the parking fees, not the vendor. It was still light out when we got there, and we took a few photos of the cute Pumpkin Nights displays in the front. There are a few tables selling merchandise and my granddaughter got two lit-up rings, $1 each. My family wanted to eat, and although I wanted to get onto the trail right away to beat the crowds, majority ruled, so we bought tacos, nachos and quesadillas from a booth. Prices were high ($12 for a quesadilla). At least it was tasty. Service was really slow. My family did enjoy the food. It was dark by the time everyone finished eating. We went to the entrance which had 2 lines - one for selfies and one for not selfies. We wanted photos, so we chose the selfie line. I don't think it would have made a difference! We got inside and encountered our first bottleneck of people taking photos. That proved to be the case throughout the venue: bottlenecks of photo-takers, along with far too many double strollers. I shudder to think what it is like on the weekend when it's more crowded. How could anyone move through the place with people taking photos every two feet? Throughout the venue are photo opportunity areas. You wait in line to access those. We only waited a few minutes each time, thankfully. About halfway through, my daughter lost patience at the stopping and waiting so we began skipping many "photo ops". Except in the disco area, there is no music. The event would be greatly improved by Halloween music playing. The almost 3-year-old had a fabulous time. This venue is very kid-friendly. It isn't scary at all. She loved, loved, loved the disco dance area. It is lit up so you look blue. There is a huge pumpkin octopus photo op in the dance area. My granddaughter found 3 Pumpkin Night wooden coins in the sand area. You exchange those for a prize at the end (a piece of candy). There are also kid play areas with games and a teeter-totter. I got onto the teeter-totter with my daughter and granddaughter on the other end. I was way more scared than my granddaughter! At the very end are two bounce houses. Granddaughter loves those, so my daughter put socks on her and sent her into one of the houses. Problem: They are not monitored by any employee. It's a free for all, jump at your own risk. The little one was surrounded by big kids jumping over her - aged 8, 9, even pre-teen. My daughter whisked her out fairly quickly because she was afraid she'd be stepped on. This is a tragedy waiting to happen, not having anyone control these bouncers. We bought our tickets on line, $20 for adults, $18 for us two seniors, and the toddler was free. Was it worth it? Probably not. As other Yelpers have pointed out, the pumpkins are plastic. The only real ones that we saw were on a table with two carvers and in a small patch at the very end next to the bouncers. "Rise of the Jack o' Lanterns" that was in the same spot a couple of years ago was much better - because they were REAL pumpkins. You can't really admire the artwork or carving expertise on a plastic pumpkin from China. That said, there were some great photo ops and we got some good photos - until my daughter got fed up with them :) read more

Belated 2019 review: As a local we don't have many Halloween events on our side of town besides the pumpkin patches or the Pumpkin Festival at Cal Poly Pomona. Most of them are closer to LA but I don't always wanna drive out there. It was their second year doing this and I really liked the event. The course is wheelchair friendly so my uncle was able to attend and all of my family enjoyed it. This was a family friendly event and they had activities like a movie corner to watch the Nightmare Before Christmas, fire shows, professional pumpkin carvers, an owl show, digging for coins, a bouncy house, a mini pumpkin patch, vendor booths in the food area, and many spots to take photos. You can ask the staff to take photos if needed. For the adults they were selling beer throughout the venue, but so many of them could not throw their cups away. I saw so many random cups everywhere. They were also selling food like at the LA County Fair but if you wanna avoid the prices I'd eat before or bring your own food. Also they charge $10 for the pumpkins at their pumpkin patch so it's up to you if you wanna buy them there. Overall I thought it was a fun event to have and it's another local activity to do during Halloween season. They sadly didnt come back this year but they will return in 2021! FINAL TIPS: - there's dirt so wear closed toed shoes - dress warmly cuz it does get chilly - if you wanna take photos with less people I'd go at opening or an hour before closing - if you want a bathroom with plumbing I'd use the ones outside in the parking lot or at the end of the entrance if you dont wanna use the porto potties inside. First of all I want to say the website is BS! They make it seem so nice and colorful and when you get there is very plain, they have something call pumpkin land which is very short trail. Very few food stands with long ass lines,, cooks are very slow. We order tacos and nachos that took more than 20 min, the food was good but the service is not worth it ! Also everything is overpriced and order of 3 tacos is $10.00 and an order of nachos $11 small nachos and small tacos ! They have a mini donuts stand that literally takes 30 min or more to make, everyone in line was complaining how the have a small fryer to make them. Save your money (because this place is NOT cheap) and go to an actual pumpkin patch. The crowds are big and this place is deceiving online because it looked nothing like it did on their website. Don't even think of bringing a stroller here because it was a nightmare for me to try to maneuver around the large crowds and narrow paths. If you're someone who likes to go places to enjoy the moment and just snap a few pictures, Pumpkin Nights is not for you. Everything to "look at" is simply a photo op, which you'll have to wait behind a line for 15 minutes just to get by the crowd who are waiting in the line for a picture. Sadly, this is just another event that sells WAY too many tickets and makes it hard to even experience what you come here to do/see. Did not look like a ton of effort was placed into it... same location as the LA county fair so I've seen what they could do with that venue. Pumpkin nights fell very short.... I'm glad I got the night owl tix because I would have been SO annoyed if I paid full price tickets for that. It was super quick. In and out in an hour tops. And we took our time. There were lines to take pictures with the bigger displays but like any amusement park or family event people want mementos. My boys are teenagers so no more trick or treating or buying costumes. The reviews are correct on how bad this place is. It is way overpriced for what they have. There are hardly any vendors that were there and the ones they had were terrible. They had a couple of jumpers and they were the smallest and cheapest you could have. Both jumpers are use at your own risk. We didn't even stay long enough to walk through the pumpkin path because to get to it you had to wait in the most unbelievable line to just go in to see them. We ended up leaving and asking for our money back. I can't believe how many people were willing to stand there and waste their time to wait to go see pumpkins. From what I read from other reviewers on here, to walk through it, you're done in a half an hour. This place, to make it much more successful, needs some serious work, especially to be charging what they do. They need to figure out the line issue as other reviewers have also stated. If people are going to pay that kind of money and not complain and waste their time, this place isn't going to change anything until people start smarting up and stop going. My family and I went there for my father's birthday . We seen it advertised and it looked like fun. The decorations were wonderful. I felt like it wasnt has big as expected and couldn't spend much time there as the kids got bored. I wish there were more activities or slides. There should of been music playing through out the festival not just in the beginning. There definitely should've be more vendors. The fire show we didn't get to see because they didnt start as scheduled, the set times were said to be 7:15 and 8:15 and we waited until 8:40 and the show didn't start so we left, super unfortunate. I do realize it was the first time pumpkin nights was held in Pomona California so u i am hoping next year there will be some improvements. I will go check it out next season. I brought my ticket for the 630PM timing (when you get in the event you can stay as long as you want). For that reason for evening tickets because the pumpkin lights up. Things to do & watch: - movie area (they were playing coco) - kids area (seasaw, bounce house) - kid friendly food court - fire show - beer station - pumpkin patch While walking into the pumpkin event, it loops one end to another with different themes. It seems like they have some new pumpkin lights with new pictures but that's all. They have more food vendors this year but all as expensive as other fair. My only real complaint would be the price. $20 for admission and $12 for parking. Including any food or drinks won't be cheap either. However, for what it was, it was fun! If you're looking for something different from your regular pumpkin patch, give this place a try! It's great for IG. We unintentionally came late at 9:20 (they close at 10:30), but it turned out to be a better experience for us. I went to this event last night with a few friends. We drove from the Westside and were all disappointed and underwhelmed. Even at the late "discounted" ticket price of $14, parking was still $12. Their website stated food trucks would be available, but there were none last night - just a few overpriced vendors with poor quality food. The fire show was underwhelming, and the actual exhibit is small. Exploring the full path took shorter than our drive out to Pomona! The free/low-cost pumpkin patches that pop-up all around LA are much better options. Overall, this was not worth the time or money spent. read more

A BETTER PUMPKIN EVENT OVER LAST YEAR IN POMONA BUT STILL NEEDS LOTS MORE IMPROVEMENTS. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME SOMETHING REALLY GOOD! 3 & 1/2 Stars. Hopefully they can correct the mistakes & tweak this for next year because this could be a really Cool Yearly Event. It's $12 here for parking. The weekend was Completely Sold Out & you had to buy the tickets online & then choose specific dates & times that were available. They have regular Admission & a Discounted Night Owl. Once you are checked in you @ your particular time slot, you can stay as long as you want. So you can go around, get stamped & do it all over again. Last year they had a Pumpkin Festival that was inside & was completely dark & you couldn't even see all the artists work of hand carved beautiful pumpkins. This year Pumpkin Nights a new event takes place outside instead of inside. So That's a Big Plus - it really is an outside event. It is in an open space with lots of hills & turns - so they've got a GREAT Location. It's really NOT THAT BIG however, so they need to expand this place somehow or add lots more exhibits. Now the downside lots of artist hand carved pumpkins of last year have been replaced with lots of plastic pumpkins. There are real pumpkins & plastic pumpkins all intermixed together. Last year was too dark this year it's all lit up so that's another plus. Another downside The outside area is completely open so lots of stuff not everything but lots of displays you can actually see before you get there. There is No element of surprise. They need to block off things more, so you don't know what's around the next corner. Another Downside is that last year they had pumpkins that appealed to Both Adults, Families & Kids too. This year it's all geared to Kids & Family not Adults. They also need to add a Scary Element somewhere in the Mix. What's Halloween without a Fright or a Scream! They had an Spectacle Owl on display which was Cool. They also had a Fire Exhibit Display @ certain times too. They have an outdoor Drive In you can sit & watch a movie. Disney's Coco was playing. At the beginning they had Free Samples from Honest Tea & Zico Coconut Water too. They had Food Booths including A Giant Hot Dog on a Stick, Funnel Cakes, & others at the entrance. Some of the highlights of Pumpkin Nights included the Giant Light up Pumpkin @ the very beginning, The Giant Caterpillars, Venus Fly Trap, The Giant Dragon, The Pirate Ship, The Octopus & The See Saws. This event is improving & in a better location. Hopefully they can fix the flaws & make it Bigger so it will be better next year. It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really Rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget! read more

What a let down. Majority of the carved pumpkins are fake, not much to see, was in and out of the whole thing in 30 minutes. Definitely recommend spending your money at "Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns" in Descanso Gardens. Only picture worth posting to represent this waste of money and time is a sad face. read more

It's okay. It's not worthy of five stars nor is it worthy of no stars. The biggest down fall is that most of your night will be dedicated to waiting in lines while people take forever to take pictures. There is nothing more annoying then waiting behind a mom that's taking five minutes to get the perfect picture of their kid. But if you can get passed that you can have a decent time. read more

This was cool, but disappointing I was expecting more real pumpkins, I thought you would be able to smell them. 80% maybe more was plastic. My 13 year old was looking for evocative ideas and he was not impressed. Plus the walking trail was short, and overly crowed. For the space and time frame, it could have been much larger. As a family we did enjoy the outing, it just didn't meet our expectations. read more
