Saag and Makki ki Roti
Neha G.

$40 CAD for two This place is a family-friendly and economical Punjabi restaurant and sweets shop. I was recommended by a friend to visit this place specifically for Saag Makki ki Roti and Amritsari Kulcha and my oh my, those were amazing. Perfect level of spicy and flavoursome. Cherry on the cake was every menu item is pretty much in budget. They also offer buffet option, but we didn't have appetite for that so took À la carte. Dahi Puri could have been better but I won't take that as an excuse to rate this as less than 5 because first two overcompensated for it. Gajar ka Halwa in desserts was made with red carrots and made for a sweet ending to the experience. Marking it as a favorite place for Saag Makki ki roti. The jalebis are a must try at Punjabi by Nature. The sweets and food is super clean and organized as you can see in the photos. The service is also great, our waiter jassi is our go to person. He is so nice and always is super helpful. Definitely check out this place!

I remember the food being better when we visited here before the Covid pandemic. Something seems to have changed, maybe the same chefs no longer work here, or something else. But this time, the food was absolutely mediocre. First things first: the staff is friendly and polite, and is the silver lining. The server was quick, responsive, and nice. Papri chat: chat is not just four different food items on top of each other. They must come together to blend into one flavour, or it tastes like what it did today. The curd was extra sour and the green chutney tasted weird. Chilli chicken dry: Ketchup flavoured sweet chilli chicken? It tasted more like someone was playing a prank on me and our reaction to this was videotaped for a reality show. Just, it wasn't. This inedible food was the actual dish. Dal Makhni: not bad, not great. Say a 4/10 compared to some delicious dal Makhnis available in the GTA elsewhere. But it saved the day, considering the other items. Chhapati: The roti was cooked well but can be better tasting. I recommend the management to bring back whatever or whoever it was, back in 2019 and early 2020. Never wasting money on food here again. The sweets are decent though, so will go back for that during festival times.

Indian street food at its best. Food handling could be better but I'm willing to excuse it because you actually get the street food vibe. Service was amazing (thanks Jessie). The

Served with hair in food. When asked for the manager , it took him more than 20 mins to present himself. Was my first time here and definitely my last too.

First time coming to this restaurant and actually first time eating at any restaurant in Brampton…read more Came here as a big group of 42 and they gave us a closed off section right by the entrance to the right just behind the soft drinks section. Upon entering the restaurant I was greeted to a very clean and modern ambience that reminded me kind of like some of the big buffets in Las Vegas. Very cool setup where they have 3 self serve fountain drinks which is included in your buffet price. In the middle they have a grilling area where they are grilling Basa fish, salmon, chicken, sirloin steak. The steak was amazing they put this butter, garlic garnish on top that makes it so delicious. I had 8 of these steaks this evening! They also had a stir fry, soup noodle where you can choose your own ingredients, different vegetables and protein and carbs for them to either turn into a stir fry or soup noodle. They had plenty of ice cream to choose from as well as a soft serve ice cream machine. The service provided by the employees were top notch, so friendly, and helpful. Very pleased with my experience and just to note my visit was on a Friday night so your good selections may be different depending on a weekday or weekend.

What I also love about this place is that soda is part of the cost. Their service was also quick so that you don't have any dirty plates lingering on your table while you're grabbing your next. The selection is great for the price.

We had come here on a Wednesday afternoon at around 1:30 pm for lunch. This was my second time…read morevisiting this restaurant, and I was looking forward to it, as the food was wonderful the first time around. The only thing that I didn't like the first time around, and didn't like this time around either, was the lighting. It was much too dark in the restaurant, even though it was daytime. We were even sitting at a table near the bar, which had potlights however, it was still dark. We were served by Nimrat, whom brought over our menus, and allowed us ample time to order our items. I had settled on butter chicken, with a side order of regular naan, and plain rice. The food took a bit long to arrive however, since there were seven in our group, I understood why the food took longer to prepare. However, once the food came, I was very happy with how delicious everything was! The butter chicken came in a large dish, which was placed on top of a small pot with a flame inside, which kept the butter chicken hot during my entire visit; this was a great addition to the meal! The naan was an excellent accompaniment, along with the plain rice; everything was well-prepared, with the perfect amount of flavouring. It also wasn't spicy, which is perfect for my taste buds; this chef definitely knows how to cook an excellent meal! Nimrat checked on us regularly, filling our glasses with water, and taking away any dishes that we had finished with. Even the owner came by to greet us, and ask how we were enjoying everything. Overall, this place had excellent food, with wonderful service provided by Nimrat, and beautiful décor. The only thing that I didn't like was the lighting however, I would definitely come back.

I have been here twice, two years apart. After my glowing review I decided to come back…read more Unfortunately, what I didn't fully understand was that to show up on a Saturday night without a reservation (for a Chinese buffet?) would result in a 1.75 hour wait. But I waited it out in their tiny waiting area. When I got in, the food was good but not great. I later learned why... I got terribly sick during my visit and spent the rest of the evening with a stomach bug. Did I get it here? Before my visit? I dunno, but I don't think it was related to the food itself. So I will let my 2024 review (which I posted under the wrong location at the time) apply to this one. PS: the room I was seated at this time had a magnificent 20' tall waterfall. 2024 Review: I have never been on a cruise ship or two a resort hotel, but I imagine the experience I had here would be comparable. Finding this place, which is located in a commercial or industrial warehousing district, would be challenging without GPS. Upon pulling up we thought it might have been an old hotel at one point. The entrance is grand, though, and nicely decorated. When we walked in we were met at a greeter station and introduced to a guy who was our "guide" around the buffet. He pointed out the various stations and featured entrees as well as his favorites (I suspect they are told what to say), and then led to the "blue room". Named because it is entirely blue in an almost Disney-esque way, it had one wall composed entirely of a fish tank! We took turns getting our food and watching our toddler, and there were lots of options here. Of note, nothing was especially great but nothing was terrible either. Many of the American-Chinese dishes were missing, but in their place were more things geared for kids. They had a full dessert station with lots of pies and cakes and cookies. They didn't have a lot of seafood but that was fine with me. They had sushi and a prime ribbing carving area. They had a koi pond and a panda display and a gift shop (!). In all, it was like walking through a movie based on a Chinese buffet. This is the flagship restaurant of the Mandarin chain and not all are like this. They told us about their signature "sweet and sour chicken meatballs", which are like sweet and sour chicken except each piece is the size of a golf ball. I remembered these were common in Toronto and not in the USA and now I know why. I don't think the food was better than average, but the experience was mindblowing. No doubt it is built into the price, but what a fun experience it was to come here. I would love to come back for a special occasion.

There are plenty of servers, and they were all polite. They served you a wet washcloth before your meal. The buffet was adequate, with multiple hot and cold stations. I went during Canada Day, when they had extra items such as Canadian-style ribs and ice cream with maple syrup. The food quality was satisfactory for a buffet. There were limited seafood options and included multiple ways of cooking mussels, shrimp. There is a sushi station with basic fare. There is a fruit station, ice cream station, cake station. There weren't many "expensive" Items, such as crab legs, but that's okay. Service was good, ambiance was good also. Food was above average. It was $45 for one adult for a weekday dinner.

The dishes, glasses, and eating utensils are dirty as well as the water jugs. The bathrooms, floors, and food pots were also extremely unsanitary. The staff are evidently lazy and do not care about customers. They do not even have a debit card machine but instead they think it's smart to have a sketchy-looking ATM that charges an extra $4.00...so I pay an extra $4.00 for my poor treatment and my meal that tasted like trash. The exterior looks like a ghetto and they tend to cram all of the customers into one room. When I was on my way to my table (in a very crammed dining room), I saw four other empty dining rooms, one of which had a pissed-looking chef eating a meal by himself on his break (YES IN THE EMPTY DINING ROOM WHERE CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE). All of the staff have a miserable look on their face like they shit themselves. The food was terrible, old, and kept in unsanitary pots. The food looked re-heated. When the food pot was low, they would simply pour more food ON TOP OF THE OLD FOOD so that way the older food could rot at the bottom. The pots weren't even consistently heated and thus was a breeding ground for nasty bacteria. Only 9 hours after eating at that shit-hole, I became ill and experienced symptoms of food poisoning. I reported them to my local health-agency and I hope they get shut down soon.

There was a pretty big variety of dishes: many Caribbean classics but also some rarer ones. Service was not great - they took a while before asking what I wanted to drink. The food was largely delicious, though nothing was labelled so I wasn't sure what many dishes were. The dishes nearer the entrance were better; e.g. fried chicken & spicy chicken. Split pea soup & peanut porridge/soup (if it was porridge it was too thin) were pretty good. At the back, the goat was pretty bony & not so tasty, the rasta pasta & fried vermicelli were ok & the curry vegetables were so so. The buffet was $21.99 plus tax, a 50% price hike from what is presumably 2020's price on the website. It was also rung up as 2 ackee and saltfish because they hadn't updated their system yet, which was rather odd.

The chicken is served on a bed of rice and peas with coleslaw (yumm!) and chicken. I found the jerk chicken was delicious and super flavourful. And for my lactose sensitive friends, you might also feel it in your gut! But still an enjoyable dish!
