Door dashed some food so I can't comment on the restaurant itself but I did enjoy the food. I got the masala chicken with rice and felt it was more bland than I am used to from other places. I was teetering between giving this place a 3 or 4 star review, so I felt generous and gave it a 4.. more like a 3.8 but who's counting. The place is pretty small as there is a one way parking in the back (was very sketchy) and there were only four tables inside. We went with the Chicken Tikka Masala (in a medium) and another chicken curry dish (forgot the name but started with a P and had some peppers, this was more oily and not a lot of curry). We also got two orders of garlic naan to split and those were the star of the show. They were glistening, fresh, crunchy yet fluffy, and full of garlic and cilantro. My tikka masala had a strong creamy tomato taste and was not spiced as I've had at other places. I ordered it medium and there really wasn't a hint of spice. The slices of chicken were so sparse and for a whopping $17, was not worth it. Portions were also quite small compared to other Indian restaurants. So, I was pretty disappointed in the flavors, amount, and price of the curry, but it was still a pleasant experience. Also, we were sat and given two bottles of Poland Springs water bottles--without asking--so we thought this was a kind gesture and their cups were all broken or something because usually, a cup of water was the norm. Well, after receiving the check, it looks like they charged us a dollar per bottle! Not a big deal but it would've been nice to be given a heads up that this wasn't a complimentary bottle of water haha. Oh well. Not my go to for Indian, but the naan definitely slaps. read more

Absolutely excellent. We ordered takeout-- samosas, chicken tikka masala, lamb korma, and naan. The staff was super friendly when we picked it up and service was super fast (ready in about 15 minutes despite peak dinner hours). Everything was stunning, and the samosa was still crispy after the drive home. And the samosa-- the pastry was perfectly delicate and thin, which is hard to find in my experience. My toddler demolished hers and specially loved the rice, which was prepared with care, just the right bite, not at all starchy (so you know they put the time in to wash it properly), and I love that they added cumin seed (I think it was cumin) to it. The chicken tikka masala was creamy and flavorful. I'm pregnant right now, with spicy foods causing immediate heartburn, which sucks because I'm absolutely craving some heat! All this to say that, having to get my food mild isn't my favorite but this masala was so scrumptious I didn't even miss it. My husband's lamb korma was warming and the lamb with richly flavored. And the naan, which we got plain, was fairly complex in flavor, had a lovely chew, and a great balance of sweetness and bitter from the light char. We tried Punjabi Kitchen a few years ago and were not impressed. At that time it seemed one dish we ordered had frozen vegetables and the chicken was tough in the other dish. However after speaking to the owner of a local Indian grocery who said it was the best Indian food around, we gave it another try. This time they got everything right. We ordered daal tadka, brinjal bharta and chicken pishori. The eggplant dish was good but the chicken and daal dishes were excellent. We have made the chicken pishori a must order when we dine there. While it is mostly a takeout place there are a few tables for dining in. The atmosphere could be improved by decluttering the area at top of stairs and having some booths to make it more private as the takeout delivery people are constantly coming and going. Finally, their prices are very reasonable. If you are looking for really good Indian food give Punjabi Kitchen a try. read more

I've ordered delivery twice now from Punjabi Kitchen and each time the food has been amazingly delicious. I've tried many of the other Indian restaurants around and to my palate this one beats them all. The saag paneer, the CTM, the Manchurian dumplings, all the veggie appetizers, the tandoori chicken, all have been so good it's like everything else I've had from other restaurants has been reheated in a toaster oven. The naan in particular: there's no disguising simple food done wrong, and this naan is so right, thick, chewy, fluffy. I can't wait to order again to explore other parts of the menu. I will note though that the spice levels are a bit higher than other places, and that's fine by me. I went with level 2 (of 4) and it was just right, spicy but not too spicy. Worst Indian food I have ever tasted. Chef didn't know how to make biryani or malai kofta. Biriyani that I got was chill rice cooked with frozen vegetables. Malai Kofta should be made in malai stuffing but what I got had kofta with potato stuffing. It had three small koftas with watery gravy. Taste of the food was very bad too. My first time having their food will be my last. I ordered chicken vindaloo, saag paneer, garlic naan and samosas. The food was cold, stale and tasteless. The garlic naan was definitely not made to order because it was cold and rubbery, the rice was cold and stale and the meats lacked flavor. In a traditional Indian dish, the meats are simmered in the sauce so the flavor is marinated into the protein. This restaurant appears to have cooked their protein in a rush because the flavor is only on the surface and meats were semi tough which is an indication that it isn't cooked very long, it's cooked enough to be coated in the sauce. The samosas also arrived cold which was interesting considering the restaurant is 5 minutes driving distance from my home so there is absolutely no reason it should arrive cold since they are usually pretty thick and deep fried. read more

The BEST Indian food in West Springfield. I only ever get Take-Out so I cannot speak to the restaurant ambiance, but the food is absolutely delicious. Huge American-portions make this a thrifty take-out choice because one can eat 3 or 4 meals for under $40, making it as cheap if not cheaper than cooking at home! I recommend the chicken tikki masala (medium spicy) w/ garlic-cilantro naan + extra side of basmati rice (which helps me get an extra meal or 2) the containers are sturdy and make good reusable tupperware. The seasoned food lasts- it won't spoil quickly- I usually finish it within a week. And this dish is no less good re-heated on day, 2, 3 or 4! (not like a lot of restaurant food, which is great when first ordered but lackluster as leftovers). Punjabi Kitchen isn't always open when you need them. I've found them to be closed on Mon + Tues (super inconvenient) but I have found a few back up restaurants for when you NEED Indian food but the #1 Best is closed. I've also noticed that the dish I like isn't always the same, leading me to believe that there are different chefs on different nights, but I haven't figured out which chef/schedule I prefer- it is good to know that the dishes are prepared fresh each night, and not using some corporate formula. read more
