My son and I had decided to give this restaurant another go. The last time we went we had the buffet and found the food too spicy. I had a list of what I was going to order-two items I had prepared to eat at home. The soup-chicken sweet corn-nicely diced chicken and vegetables was one of the best soups I have ever had. The garlic nan was garlicky and so tasty. The tandoori lamb chops with the lime marinade were some of the best lamb chops I have ever had in a restaurant. The vegetable pakora sampler-everything was great. The green salad-was large and fresh. I have zero complaints about the food. My son and I had over ordered and had plenty to take home---it was one of the best meals I have had in a restaurant in a long time. A first time discovering this bunch & okay I admit I got it in the fridge for later time however I got a sense I've done well. My vegetarian daughter booked this restaurant for her graduation celebration cum last dinner before leaving college to head home. This restaurant is part of a convention center, which means it's very, very big, and pristinely maintained. Our waiter was a cheerful man from Mumbai who kept a close eye to all of our needs. While all hungry and in celebratory mood, we ordered a lot of food and drinks. Free papadam and chutneys were offered as we sat down. Since this restaurant is more southern flavored, dosa, khorma and seafood medley coconut are must-try then. The dosa was the first to turn up - it was the biggest I'd ever seen, and came with coconut chutney and a masala sauce. Paneer butter masala is my daughter's favorite dish - she'd order it both at home and at Indian restaurants :-). Everything tasted absolutely delicious, with the right spiciness for this family of high tolerance for hot pepper. With two appetizers (dosa and veggie platter) three curries, one briyani, one order of naan, and 4 drinks, the bill came to equal the street hawker food we had at a Taiwanese restaurant in Northampton the previous evening. Don't order online. I was charged twice! They couldn't find my order when I arrived to pickup my order & said I had to reorder everything . When I asked them to cancel my online order because I already paid, they said it was canceled. Turns out I was charged for both the "missing " online order & the reorder at the restaurant . Priya would not refund me for the duplicate charge & said I had to dispute it with my credit card instead. So unhelpful, I have never gone back. Terrible Experience on Mother's Day - Rude Staff, Unhygienic Food, and Possibly Unsafe to Eat I usually don't write reviews, but this one is necessary to warn others. Our recent visit to Priya Indian Cuisine was by far one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. We were a group of three families visiting on Mother's Day, hoping to enjoy a nice lunch. Unfortunately, from the moment we walked in, things went downhill. There was no one at the reception, and we stood waiting for at least 10 minutes before a waiter finally showed up--not to greet us, but to rudely ask, "How many people?" with visible annoyance. We politely mentioned we were three families dining together. Instead of helping us find appropriate seating, he crammed us at a small round table meant for seven. When we gently asked for another table to accommodate everyone comfortably, he snapped back with, "I don't know," in a dismissive tone--almost like we were a burden for even asking. Then came the shocking part: when another family member arrived and we again requested a little more space, the same waiter snatched a plate out of our hands and aggressively told us to "Go eat at some other restaurant." The disrespect was appalling--not just towards the men, but even towards the women and children in our group. And this was on Mother's Day. Looking for help, we asked for the owner, but he was nowhere to be found. A manager eventually came and casually told us that the waiter had a history of bad behavior and many complaints against him--yet he's still working there. Although the manager offered new seating, the damage was already done. As we reluctantly continued our meal, we noticed multiple issues: * Plates were dirty--clearly not washed properly. * Paneer had hard particles (like small stones) in it. * One dish had a strand of hair--my wife found it in her food. * Spinach dishes had a gritty, sandy texture--as if not cleaned properly. * The dessert area was a hygiene nightmare--sweets were falling back into the communal spoon tray, contaminating everything. What's worse? The next day, multiple members from our group reported health issues--sore throat, stomach upset, and diarrhea. That's three different families. This raises serious concerns about food safety. Also, here's something strange we all noticed--after eating the buffet, none of us felt hungry until late night. And it wasn't because we overate. It felt unnatural. One can't help but wonder if the food has something added to suppress appetite--especially during a buffet. In summary: * Rude and unprofessional staff * Terribly unhygienic conditions * Possibly unsafe food * Negligent management * An experience that ruined our celebration Do yourself a favor: avoid this place. Dining out is meant to be a joyful experience--not something you walk away from feeling insulted, sick, and regretful. Pryia was our go to spot for several years; today (7/1/23) was awful from start to finish. We've used their online ordering system before with no problems - today they said it didn't complete. Ok, it's tech I get it. But they had the order and we paid and then waited and waited and waited. 55 minutes later our to go order was ready - and it was awful. There was sand in the chicken saag, the cauliflower, and the saag paneer. Literally sand. And then there's the flavor: we have kids so the order was 'mild to just a bit of spice.' What we got was medium spicy and spicy is all it was - watery, underwhelming, and such a disappointment. It was a bit of a road trip for us but looking at the good reviews we decided to give it a try. The place was nice, the buffet spread was extensive. Service was good. I ordered dinner to go. It took about 20 minutes. Food was fresh, hot and packaged perfectly. I also ordered a garlic naan and a cheese naan not pictured, both were great and with much flavor. I enjoyed the Chana masala which was very flavorful as well as the jasmine rice. The only thing I didn't really care for was the mango lassi. It's not bad, just wasn't my cup of tea from here. I didn't really experience the full service since I ordered to go but the person who rang me up was quick and efficient with taking my order even tho I was rummaging thru the menu. Okay, so finally got my a/o to try Indian food. We loved it. The food was fantastic. I did not get pictures of his food but I will explain what we had as follows. Appetizer: Vegetable Samosa 8/10 for me 10/10 for my fiancé. It is basically a fried pocket of potato and peas. It was great. I didn't love it. But my fiancé loved it. They also have these large chip like appetizer for free with three dippings. One of the dips was amazing, it was very cinnamony. The other had a strong dill flavor, also great and they there was this onion dip with red spices. Still great, definitely has a spice factor. Dinner: I got a traditional chicken Tikka masala. I am so sure I spelt that wrong. It was delicious. 10/10. Paired with rice and garlic nan. Fantastic. My fiancé got the lamb vindalo (also most likely spelt wrong). He loved his as well. His Dish was super spicy. Over all great experience food wise. Service wise was a very different story. There were only a total of ten people in the restaurant when we were ready to order. It took awhile for someone to take our order. The food came out within a reasonable amount of time. But when we were done, it took forever for them to give us the bill. My sons and I drove 45 minutes one way from Connecticut to try this place on a weekday. The restaurant is adjacent and shares the parking lot of the Tru by Hilton Hotel. Unfortunately, upon arriving, there was only 15 minutes left before they cleared the buffet, so they wouldn't seat us, but they gave us each a take-out box to fill from the buffet. (I've been to places that allow you to be seated and dine, even though they're about to end and clean up the buffet. You just fill up your plates and get what you want before they take it all away, but this place didn't seem willing to do that.) They did let me place an order for some dishes to go, besides us each filling up a box from the buffet. Each dish we tried was very flavorful, and it was some of the best Indian food we've had out here. (We moved from L.A. 3 years ago.) We tried the tandoori chicken, chicken malai kabob, chicken vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, channa masala, two other vegetable dishes I didn't catch the names of (perhaps they were the aloo gobi and vegetable jalfrezi), vegetable biriyani, naan, onion uthappam, and carrot halwa. The buffet is seriously packed with options. Many straight vegetarian. Some vegan. Lots of appetizers. For all that, the food is good. They do an amazing Chicken Tiki Masala. They have a wonderful Baingan Bhartha. The spicing is reasonable, not too hot, not too mild. There's some flavor there. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The food at Priya Indian Cuisine was excellent and the menu was extensive, The staff were very happy to answer questions. Every item on the menu indicates allergens: Nuts, gluten (wheat / celiac), dairy, vegetarian & spicy. A word of advice: for 3 out of 5 of us, the food was not labeled spicy, but was too spicy for us, because we are not used to eating spicy food! When you order, I recommend that you indicate the spice level you want, even if your dish does not indicate spicy. I had Navaratan Khorma, which is not labeled spicy, but was too spicy for me (I ate it and enjoyed it, and had no problems later, but it was a bit nerve wracking!) Others in the party had Chicken Tika Sag and Aloo Gobi, which were too spicy for us, but very very tasty. The Masala Dosa was also excellent and not too spicy :).
