Went for an easy early Saturday dinner. It wasn't too packed, which made it really nice, and the inside was beautiful. They have a full bar, which I appreciated. I liked that they had an actual drink menu with classics whiskey, vodka, and other regular cocktails. I almost ordered a pomegranate whiskey sour but decided not to drink tonight. Instead I got a pineapple juice drink that was really refreshing. We kept it pretty simple with chicken tikka masala and garlic naan (which I forgot to take pictures of), and it was good. Nothing over-the-top, but definitely enjoyable. I also went a little out of my comfort zone and ordered the pepper shrimp in a coconut sauce. That ended up being my favorite. It was really good, and I'd definitely order that again. Our waiter was very kind. There was a slight language barrier, but he was so patient and still explained things to us. I even learned that the traditional clay oven a lot of Indian dishes are cooked in is called a tandoor. Overall, a really nice dinner. I love Indian food, and I'd go back. read more

Everyone was pleased, from the hot chili heads like me to some older family members who like it mild. There's a neat mural on one wall that we sat under. We had several different apps, and they were all good, but the samosas were the best. The chicken vindaloo was pretty hot but tasty. They had one dish rated hotter, but that might be beyond my limit. The shrimp in the two shrimp dishes we ordered, butter and tikka masala, were cooked perfectly. Everyone liked their naan, too, regular and garlic. Service was prompt, and the waiter made a point to warn me that I was ordering a spicy dish, saying that some found it too spicy (I didn't.) Definitely would go back. read more

I love Indian food so of course, I was so excited to try this place out. The reviewed were excellent so I was really looking forward to my dinner here. When I first walked in, the strong smell of Indian spices hit me like a wave. Immediately I could tell they cook their food fresh and it was going to be flavorful. The waiter was very attentive. The menu was extensive. Lots of appetizers and main dishes. I also saw a lot of vegetarian choices so it would be good for vegetarians too. We got the meat sampler as an appetizer, garlic naan, goat curry and shrimp tikka masala. It was good size portions and we had enough for lunch the next day. The goat meat was tender and just like I predicted, very flavorful. The shrimp was done just right. The tikka masala sauce was on point! The dishes were very mild so I wish they could've added more spiciness to them! I like a bit of spicy in my Indian food! Large menu with menu great choices, hard to make the final decision. Dishes included basmati rice Appam was new for me and an alternative to butter naan. Nice presentation Chettinad had a spicy kick. Good portion size and I opted for all vegetables with mixed choice. Can opt for only one veggie. Really enjoyed it. Non vegan food was really tasty, couldn't finish the naan portion size. I highly recommend checking out Royal Spice! The restaurant itself is really cute with some nice wall art. It seems pretty new! They have a full bar and their menu is huge with tons of veggie options. We didn't make a reservation but we also went on a Tuesday night. I'm sure they're busier on the weekends! We split a bunch of dishes, as it was our first time and we were excited to try the food. We definitely over ordered and had leftovers for days after. We started with the veggie app sampler and the mango salad. The bhel poori was my favorite from the sampler, especially with the green and tamarind chutneys (the true stars of the show). The mango salad was very refreshing and the mango was perfectly ripe. For dinner, I ordered more apps! The tamarind eggplant and the samosa chaat. I really loved both. They were similar and both came with a bed of chickpeas. I also tried the coconut mushroom curry and YUM!! It was so rich and creamy with a strong coconut flavor. I usually don't go for Indian lunch because the heavy spices. Although I like the deep flavors, they were often too intense for me & sometimes gave me acid. However, I really like the modern/US? twist here with lite spices. It's much lighter, like 5x less spices but they are still very tasty. Lunch is a $15 buffet with a small selection, but still 4-5 different type of meat. My favorite choices were on my 2nd go around, the photo of the plate without rice. The best for me was the Tandoori chicken, like a good American BBQ chicken but with Indian flavoring. The second best for me was the orange looking Chicken Marsala. The lamb dish was very tasty but it's a bit under cooked, not fully tender yet. The rest were fresh but average, with the egg plant being the least appetizing. Overall, very good Indian lunch buffet for non Indian foodies. read more

We had an excellent meal at Royal Spice. We started with a nicely spiced mango lassi and a very cold Taj Mahal beer. Even the papadams were tasty. We had chicken tikka masala and tandoori vegetables. Butter and onion naan to round it out. All of it was superb - the tandoori veggies and onion naan were standouts. Portions were large and prices reasonable. The service was attentive but not overly so. So many wonderful things on the menu - we'll be back to try them all. read more

Probably my new favorite Indian restaurant! Food is delicious and they have so many options. It's Southern Indian which is a nice change from the other places. The inside is clean and atmosphere is modern. Not like other places in West Springfield where the floors are falling apart. You get plenty of food so don't be put off by the prices. I think it's very fair. Mixed drinks is where they get you! The staff is very friendly and answered so many questions for me. Go and check it out. read more

The family tried this place last night based on a friend's recommendation. The restaurant is nicely decorated, very tasteful. All of us had chicken dishes. My meat sampler was on the appetizer menu and it was larger that most entrees. My plate was full of flavorful chicken, well spiced but not overly spicy. The chicken tikka masala was full of tender chunks. The chicken korma was smooth with a rich cashew flavor. Garlic Naan and onion naan were the perfect tool for dipping in the sauces. Our appetizers were amazing- we got the meat app platter (wings were the star) and the spinach chaat, which I haven't seen on any menus around here. I'd return for the spinach alone. Our server Ali was great, super friendly and attentive. Food came out at a good pace, not too long but a bit of time between each app and the main course. Rice was super fluffy and naan was good. Tried the royal veggie dish which is denoted with two chili peppers yet had zero spice. The flavor was fine and a nice variety of veggies but I'd probably try something else next time. Chicken tikka masala did have a large amount of white meat chicken, however the flavor of the sauce was not great- very tomato-y in a canned tomato way and again, two chili peppers and not any spice. Would not order this again which is disappointing since it's such a basic staple. Pro takeout move would be to order apps from Royal Spice and then get a side of chicken from Motu down the road. read more

Our first visit of many to Royal Spice. Vegetarians and vegans rejoice -- so many delicious options! We were blown away by all three of the appetizers we tried: Bhel Poori (my favorite, pictured), Tamarind Eggplant, and Gobi 65. My husband ordered the Chilly Chicken off the Indochinese portion of the menu and loved it (he travels frequently and his favorite cuisines are Indian and Szechuan). I went with a classic and had the chicken korma, which was great, but outshone by the appetizers and the unique flavor of my husband's dish. Servings are generous--we brought home a LOT of leftovers which is ideal! Service was friendly and quick, ambiance was fun, and we're already looking forward to coming back. We had no problem getting a table at 12:30 on a Thursday, but also was very happy to see that this new restaurant was at least at half capacity. We discovered this place yesterday and are so glad we went. The place is clean and nicely decorated, and the food was fantastic! Servers were very eager to please too. My wife and I have driving past the Royal Spice Coming Soon sign for a long time so I guess we should have expected that the service would also take a long time and it did. We had a reservation which wasn't necessary, but after being seated it took a half an hour to get water. Be careful though, there is a bottle of sparkling water on the table but if you open it you'll pay for it. The menu is huge and full of Indian delights. I had Chicken Vindaloo and my wife had Shrimp Tandoori. Both were delicious and large. We had enough leftovers for another dinner. The menu has chili peppers to indicate spiciness which is nice but it took an extra hour for us to get the order served. The owner said that he already has 6 restaurants in CT and we think he should have brought a crew from one of those locations to make the service better. One thing that bothered me was that the benches weren't secured to the floor and moved when people got in and out of them. I think that the only thing that they need is a sign which says. "No matter how long it takes the service here is as fast as possible " read more

First off, the low review is for the temperature of the buffet, pure and simple. I tried to voice my concerns quietly and I REALLY wanted to go back and love this place because the staff is so nice (minus one weird old grumpy guy with glasses at night that stared at us while we ate) and the restaurant is lovely (clean too). I cannot understand such a nice restaurant with such an expensive buffet table not keeping it at a safe food temp. They literally keep their food in the danger zone. I came back after talking with the staff and gave them a second chance, the buffet was almost stone cold at 1230 pm on a Sunday. We will not be back for the buffet and honestly probably not the restaurant either. The one time we ate from the menu the food was fresh and hot but that's the night the angry employee stared at us while we ate. I hadn't seen him during the day, guessing he's a manager or owner but he should really act a little better to polite and paying customers. All other staff here are super friendly but eat at your own risk. I won't be chancing food poisoning. Best of luck and maybe use the heating elements on your table. read more
