I had to stop taking my dog here because she just hated it so much. She didn't even want to walk near the building, in fear that I would take her there. The building lacks ventilation and they spray chemicals in the air to try to hide the smell. It was way too strong for me and I can't even imagine how awful it would be for a dog whose nose is 300 times more sensitive. They don't want to take your dog outside to relieve themselves and often I would pick her up and she couldn't walk 10 feet out of the building without having to go. Due to that, they are constantly mopping up pee all day, and then spraying more chemicals. read more

When I questioned the price, I was given a breakdown, but it came with being handed a "free toothbrush" and told it was included because it is "pet dental health month"... WARNING: failure to read schedule properly - Called today to book a groom after Gold Coast stopped accepting weekend appointments. I spoke to and confirmed with an employee who was delighted to share there were 2 appointments 4 days from now, Saturday 8/3. After confirming multiple times it was this Saturday, she assured me my pup would be with an experienced groomer. We chatted about the groomer and I confirmed the date one last time before hanging up. Received a call back from manager 25min later saying 8/3 was booked, and the next weekend availability was 8/17. I was shocked - no explanation or reasoning besides the groomer wasn't going to be working there, only 1 was available and she was booked up. I was so disappointed I ended the call. Follow up text below explaining a trainer answered my original call and provided the wrong info. While I write this review, I missed a call from them without a voice message. Another incoming call while I write. Messy messy place Them: Hi from PUPS! I just wanted to make sure you heard me at the end of the call because I believe it ended while I was still speaking but I recommend reaching out to other PUPS locations as well if you're looking for grooming sooner. The Gold Coast and River North locations are super close to us. We could also always put you on our waitlist incase of cancellations. Good luck! Me: Why would your colleague CONFIRM my appointment over the phone without checking whether it was truly available? I asked whether she was sure multiple times. That was extremely unprofessional. I am very disappointed with Pups Pet Club. Them: Our apologies. The PUPS employee you were speaking with is still in training and was practicing doing the role themself. What we can do from here is learn from the mistake and make sure it does not happen in the future. We hope to have the chance to meet you and [dog] in the future. Me: Your employee left us with a bad impression of your facility. We've been wonderful clients and leave heavy tips, but we've experienced constant turnovers at River North, now no weekends available, and our last impression is your employee misunderstanding the schedule at their own location (again, I asked her to repeat and explained why this was important). Bad bad bad all around Them: And we completely apologize for that. This is their second day training, and it was an honest mistake. Updating my review because the level of service at Pups - not Bryan's - has drastically decreased. If you look back at my review you can see that Bentley has had grooms by Bryan that go back over 4 years ago. I've tried other groomers, even tried closer locations (Pups Gold Coast) and Bryan is my favorite groomer. I was a little disappointed that the last time I booked an appointment with Bryan, someone else actually cut him (I was unaware of that until after I paid), but I thought it was a one time thing. I also have a senior Golden (under my husbands account) who's been groomed by Bryan.   Back when I first started going to Pups, everything was organized and I felt like I was getting a great level of care. And when I posted this review years ago, Pups only had a couple of locations and they offered cage free boarding. But now whenever I try to make appointments, I have to jump through hoops and I'm given different information based on who I talk to. The price of Bentley's grooming went up $20 out of nowhere and I was told it's because Shih-tzus have long hair so he has to be charged accordingly (he's a Shih-tzu poodle with CURLY hair - it's impossible for him to have long hair haha). I've had issues in the past making a grooming appointment at Streeterville, so I tried the Gold Coast location - which is much closer. Overall, I felt very underwhelmed about the groomers and their attitude. One of the reasons why I don't go back to the Gold Coast location (other than their lack of organization - once Bentley was returned to me after an overnight without his collar. Aren't they mandatory? What if he got out?) was because I was told the groomer that I used for Bentley didn't groom dogs over a certain weight. Okay, that's fine, I'll have Bentley groomed at GC and take my Golden to Bryan in Streeterville. But when I picked Bentley up from a grooming, I saw someone with a much bigger dog than my Golden getting groomed by the same groomer that I was told has a weight limit. That's a review for their other location, but it's just another example of different information I'm given and a reason why I went back to Streeterville. This now goes back to me trying to make a grooming appointment at Streeterville. I've called (trying to talk to someone) on Saturday (9/21), Sunday (9/22), and twice on Monday (9/23) before sending them an email on Monday (9/23) - they responded and told me appointments with Bryan need to be approved by a manager. I explained that Bryan was my favorite and said sure, please forward to a manager. It's now Monday (9/30), a week later, and still no response. It's been 9 days and 6 different times contacting them (4 calls and 2 emails) to make one appointment. My dog had an unfortunate incident while he was in overnight boarding that was Pups fault and they fully owned. I still keep trying to give Pups another chance because I like Bryan and have always had a great experience with grooming. But, it is too hard to book an appointment. I can't say enough good things about PUPs! I am sure all locations are great but I am particularly obsessed with the Streeterville location where i primarily go! When I moved to Chicago I had a lot of anxiety about finding new services for my dog that I could trust. I got so incredibly lucky that PUPS was that place! PUPs Streeterville has incredible staff that truly care about dogs and their wellbeing. They promote a happy and safe playtime with dogs at daycare and their webcam service for dog parents is great. When my dog go sick recently the staff reached out via text or call once a week to see how my dog was doing, and offered services to come spend time with her at home or take her out for walks/bathroom while I was at work if needed. Additionally, I've seen staff professionally promote good grooming practices with pet parents, advocating for the best health for the dog and their skin/fur. 10 stars! read more

I'm a newer client to PUPS Pet Club and I've been so happy with the care of our dog with the South Loop team. When you walk in the door, you are always greeted with enthusiastic hellos and smiles, which is so nice. My pup Charlotte seems to love it there and I love having access to the webcam now that I'm a member. I probably watch it too much, but it's great to see...a bit addicting. We just had Charlotte brushed out during her last stay (she's a huge shedder) and they did a great job. I don't ever feel there are too many dogs in the space at once, someone is always in the room with the dogs making sure nothing nefarious is happening between them and they're on top of any indoor accidents so your dog comes home smelling just as fresh as when she arrived. I am writing this review thousands of miles away... I just moved and no longer am in the area to take my sweet Lola here. The location and services are convenient and efficient. My dog is a senior chihuahua with multiple medical conditions and severe anxiety. The only person I let handle her is Bryan, and I have always been satisfied and impressed with his attention to detail and how gentle he is with Lola. Lola has separation anxiety and cries when she's away from me, but whenever I've gone to pick her up, she's calm with Bryan!!! I wish I could give 10 stars. Brought my French bulldog in for a bath and picked him up filthier than when I dropped him off. Ears were not cleaned, nails not trimmed, did not ever smell clean. I added "upgrades" such as teeth cleaning and blueberry facial and these contributed to problems, I don't know what the staff did to my dog. My Frenchie never had bad breath and since the cleaning he has foul odor coming from mouth, need to schedule vet appointment due to this now. Secondly, he never has tear stains and since "bath" he has tear stains and what seems to be a fungal infection. Without seeing your dog first, they make you may and suggest tip. In total with 20% tip it amounted to $91. For this price I would at least expect my dog to be clean but instead I had to bring him back to my building and bathe him, clean ears, clip nails, and schedule a vet appointment. I just moved into the neighborhood and need an option for my dog because I work from home and need a break. I looked into PUPS and it sounded ideal, the first initial email was friendly and Rachel reached out to schedule a time to chat. When I got on the call with Rachel, I felt steam rolled into their services. Someone who's in sales and manages a sales team, this was very pushy and she came off super domineering. It felt very scripted and and a hard sell to make sure you became a "premium" member and they only have one vet option on Thursdays and Fridays. I felt pushed and rushed to get him into the vet to get his vaccine and hurry up and fill out the portal that "only takes 5 minutes". Also, having to be continuously reminded to fill out the pet portal like I was a toddler. Friendly reminder, clients are built on trust and connection not some transactional purchase. I'm going to look at other options and will decide whether or not PUPs is the ideal place for doggy daycare. read more

Just relocated and went to Streeterville because they had a same-day opening. The cut was ok (it was generic and not specific for a Pomeranian), but it doesn't seem like they even bothered to defurminate my dog or brush his teeth, which I paid extra for them to do. They also charged me $40 for a full day of boarding for keeping him two hours after his appointment ended. I was not told this when I made the appointment. My dog was frantically barking when I came to pick him up so I'm not sure what else went wrong, but we'll be looking for another groomer. read more

He is so caring and ALWAYS gives Dolly a lot of love and attention. And her haircuts show it! On our way home we usually get stopped at least twice with people complimenting her new hairdo! He is definitely the best groomer in the city of Chicago! Vivian and Millie are usually who we interact with at the front and both are super helpful and loving to Dolly. 5 stars all the way. I love this place. Completely different experience from Krisers. Brian does a great job grooming my dogs. And the place is clean and friendly. The owner Dan is very approachable and can give you all the necessary information about grooming your dog to behavior and training. So glad I found this place. I would like to talk about the time I witnessed Dan walking a puppy. That was the Aha moment for me, when I saw dan talking to this puppy and nudging her gently to walk and do her business. His calm demeanor and loving attitude to the puppy, that didn't even belong to him said it all. This is exactly how he runs the club with great attention to detail. All the staff members have always gone above and beyond to answer all my questions and book appointments as and when I need them. Their cancellation policy is not stringent either. I cannot recommend PUPS Pet Club Streeterville enough! We have been taking our puppy there since she was 8 weeks old and the staff couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. We work early and they are there from 7am-7pm and definitely need to utilize their longer hours! Hi Pups! I wanted to take this time to express my absolute gratitude and appreciation for the staff at the Streeterville location. Our chocolate lab, Willow, has been coming to PUPS since she was 8 weeks old and the staff immediately gave her VIP treatment with so much love and adoration. Since then, we have called PUPS home a couple times a week for these past 10 months. She loves going so much, she will take the leash in her mouth and run the couple blocks to drop off as she gets so excited to go for the day! My husband and I both work long hours in medicine and we have no ounce of worry when she is there because we know she is in such good hands! What really solidified our love for PUPs was during the COVID quarantine. Both my husband and I are in healthcare (he's at Northwestern and I am at Rush) and we both still had to continue to work. The fact that that location remained open AND offered free daycare from very generous donators literally changed our world. I took a substantial pay cut for 6 weeks and did worry about our hours and needing to take her more than 2x a week (which was her norm) with the cost of daycare, and those worries disintegrated with the generous offer your company provided. We are forever grateful and cannot thank you enough for the opportunity. Additionally, the staff was so great and again, always watched over Willow. I know there are many people that Willow comes into contact with daily/weekly, but I especially want to thank Millie and Vivian (who absolutely ADORES Willow) and the gentleman in the evening behind the front desk (I'm sorry I don't know his name), who always gives me great updates on her day. They are some of the nicest, most genuine people! My husband is moving to Madison, WI for a year to complete his surgical training and I will be staying in Chicago to live with my sister in Lincoln Park so I am actually heart broken to be leaving PUPs Streeterville location. We couldn't have found a better place to call "home" for Willow, especially with how much she loves going. I live in the residential high rise above the Streeterville location. I needed to get my dog's nails trimmed, so I called to find out if they accept walk-ins. I was informed that while they accept walk-ins, the groomer was no longer in for the day, and was told the groomer's typically work 9 - 5 on the weekdays. I thought, how inconvenient for pet owners who work during those hours, so, I guess I'll try the weekend. Called on the weekend, same thing, no groomers in for the day. Called a third time when I was working from home on a weekday, I was told the groomer had just gone home for the day because he didn't have any appointments left. (It was sometime around 4.) So I asked, "okay should I just book an appointment tomorrow then? I'm striking out on getting these nails trimmed." She assured me that the walk-in would be no problem and gave me the hours the groomers would be in for the following day. I show up the following day. Mind you, this is my FOURTH ATTEMPT to get my dog's nails trimmed at this place in about a week. While they had groomers in, she mentioned they were busy and asked if I had an account. I said no, I do not. The employee told me that in order to get his nails trimmed, I would need to set up an account and provide a rabies vaccination and etc. I asked her why no one has told me this in the previous 3 times I've called if this would be required for a walk-in appointment? And her only solution was to tell me that the account was necessary. She did not offer to set up an account for me and even when I said, "you know, this is the 4th time I'm trying to do this with you all. And the experience I'm having is not good here," she offered NO SOLUTION. It was like she literally didn't want to help me spend money at the business she was working at? If I need an account, set one up for me, especially since I was the only customer in the building at the time. And the other employee who witnessed the tail end of this interaction--maybe you could've offered a solution as well? Instead you sat there silently as both of you let me calmly walk out the door. Do not go here. There's nothing convenient about it and the customer service is awful. read more

I'll start by saying this is the first time I've ever written a review for anything, and I'm only doing it so that other dogs don't have to go through the same experience my dog went through. Also to clarify, this is regarding the Streeterville location. I had my 8 month old pug stay at pup's pet club for a weekend over two nights. They have cameras so that you can watch your dog 24/7 (when the cameras aren't glitching) so I was frequently checking in to see how my dog was doing because it was her first time staying somewhere overnight. Firstly, the dogs were not divided by size as I was told they would be. There were 20-30 dogs all in one room, and a lot of larger dogs which was scary for my small dog. There are two other very small rooms and there was just one dog in one of the small rooms for whatever reason. My biggest issue was that all the dogs slept in that same room where they played all day, and there were not nearly enough cots for all the dogs. You are not allowed to bring your dog's bed because they all sleep in the same room, and I was told a cot would be provided for each dog, but I could see on the camera that there were not enough cots for even half the dogs. I watched my puppy sit on the cold hard floor trying to keep her eyes open because she had no bed and the big dogs were all in there with her and there was no separation. When I picked her up, I noticed first thing that she had a terrible sounding cough which she has never had before. The person who handed her off just said "oh yeah she has a cough now I guess." That ended up being a respiratory infection that also turned into an ear infection and cost me hundreds of dollars. I brought all of this to the attention of a woman working at the front desk not long after it happened. I went in to speak to someone about it and I believe I was very calm and respectful. The whole time I was telling the woman what happened, she was just looking on the computer for proof that my dog did spend the night and would never look at me directly and didn't really have anything to say except that she wasn't sure why the dogs weren't split up or why there weren't enough beds. She told me she would reach out to a manager and have them call me. It's been over a month and nobody ever reached out. The place I take my dog now for boarding will pay up to 250 dollars for vet fees if a dog catches something while staying there, and pups pet club couldn't even call me back. Finally, I did also prior to this sign my puppy up for training classes here. We only had two of the four sessions that we were supposed to have. They took place in a tiny busy hallway where dogs were coming in and out of the playroom and employees walking by every couple of minutes so my dog could never actually focus and was constantly distracted. There is no real location for the training to take place which I thought was weird for a place that offers puppy training. The trainer did tell me that it works better when she comes to our home to train, which makes sense but it was during a spike in covid cases and I didn't feel totally comfortable with that- I had figured there would be a designated room for training there. The next week they sent out an email saying an employee tested positive for covid and then they were closed for a few days... and then I never heard from anyone about finishing her training, not that I would have continued anyway. The whole point of this is just to say that I don't want anyone else to have this same experience and it shows how little anyone there cares because no one ever called me after this happened or seemed to care that my puppy was sick. We have sent our 1.5-year-old dog, Logan, to the Wicker Park PUPS location since he was a puppy. During COVID-19, daycare services were limited to just the Streeterville location, which was actually pretty convenient for us, as my husband is a doctor at nearby Northwestern. Logan loves daycare, so he was thrilled either way, but he assimilated into the Streeterville pack right away and the attendants who don't usually watch him at Streeterville couldn't have been sweeter to our pup! Every day when we picked him up, it was such a joy to hear how much they loved him. Streeterville also organized a program where some members wanted to donate daycare packages to frontline workers, which has been SO helpful for our family as my husband has continued to work in the hospital. We can basically see the Wicker Park location from our condo building, so we'll probably be returning there when daycare resumes, but we've been so thankful to the Streeterville location for easing one more worry from our minds during the pandemic! read more

I took my 3 month old puppy for his first day of daycare to PUPS for Puppy Playcare. He was in the puppy room with one other puppy for the day. All seemed okay until we picked him up and he started acting strange. Growling when you came near him, crying, wouldn't open his mouth. We took him to the ER and he had cuts in his mouth and red and swollen gums. The vet told us he had gotten into cleaning supplies or something chemical like chewing on a battery. He is now on medicine and recovering. After calling PUPS and explaining what happened, they said the manager would call me. They have not. I will not be going back and am VERY disappointed by my experience. read more

If you've been looking for Bryan, you found him! Bryan has been the most popular groomer in Streeterville for years, frequently booking up weeks in advance. He now works just a couple blocks from where he used to, at Pups Pet Club! I'm so happy we found him, and not a moment too soon. My dogs have been looking straight up busted and now they are beautiful again. My one old man poodle mix just gets a simple man's haircut, one length all over, as he's not very flashy and tends to prefer the basics. He gets very nervous and shaky before grooming, especially now that he's blind, and Bryan is always so sweet to him. He comes out smiling every time. My other poodle is a real beast, all 14 pounds of him. Whenever I brush him I want to throw him out the window, but Bryan is so patient with him. Bryan has perfected the art of tending to this dog's legs - he's bowlegged af, and Bryan shapes him these beautiful wide leg pants of perfectly blended hair that make him look regal as hell. 10/10 best groomer ever, 100% recommended. read more

I have used streeterville PUPS location for a variety of their services over past year or so, including daycare, one -on-one training, pet sitting, overnights (at lakeview), walking and transportation. They are an essential part of mine and Winston's life! The staff have all been great, and they truly take their responsibilities seriously. I get detailed (and entertaining) report cards for both daycare and walking, and the staff are always very communicative on any issues or concerns. To quote Liz (Director of Training), Winston is "unapologetically himself", so we have done several "daycare citizenship" training sessions that have both improved his report cards and made daycare significantly more enjoyable for Winston! She communicates directly with Millie (the streeterville manager) which makes it really easy for everyone to understand where Winston could use additional training. Carlos (Winston's dog walker) also did a great job getting to know Winston and his quirks, and diligently follows my walk and transport instructions (including turning on the appropriate music for Winston as he's leaving). I love Pups Pet Club. After having relocated to the Chicago from the southwest, I had to start our fresh for a new place to take my pups for their grooms. Since the day I started taking them to PUPS, I've continued to be impressed with their professionalism and how they take care of my two doggies. Every appointment, it is easier for me to have them pick up my puppies, walk them to their groom, and walk them back afterwards. Every appointment, it depends on availability if they can do this because I am slightly out of range, however every time they have found a way to make it easy and come snag my babies for me for a groom. The members who help coordinate their grooms are incredibly friendly and accommodating. I work a lot and it isn't as easy for me to take them myself. This last groom, I had the opportunity to meet both walkers who picked them up and dropped them off and they were fantastic! So friendly and kind.
