I spent over $700 at this vet and they still couldn't even provide a correct statement for my insurance claim. I emailed them multiple times asking for an updated statement, and they just kept sending the same incorrect one back. When I called to explain the issue, they argued with me on the phone instead of helping. For a place that claims to be a "luxury" clinic, the customer service and professionalism were terrible. Extremely frustrating experience and definitely not worth the money. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. read more

This practice USED to provide excellent care, but the decline in service has been both disappointing and concerning. I recently requested a refill for my cat's prescription diet, which is medically necessary due to a severe intolerance to regular food that causes bloody diarrhea. I was initially told the refill could not be authorized because my cat had not been seen in over a year. That statement was incorrect. My cat was seen in July 2025, and the staff eventually acknowledged that fact. After that, I was told that because my cat's regular veterinarian had moved to a different location, a new veterinarian would need to see him before the prescription could be renewed. Frankly, that explanation makes little sense. The entire purpose of a veterinary practice is continuity of care. My cat's diagnosis, history, and response to treatment are thoroughly documented in his medical record by one of your own veterinarians. If a documented medical condition and treatment plan established by your own provider cannot be relied upon by another veterinarian within the same practice, what does that say about the confidence you have in your own medical records and clinicians? Are clients expected to start over every time a veterinarian changes locations? Should established diagnoses suddenly become questionable because the original veterinarian is no longer in the building? That rationale undermines the very concept of a group practice. What is most troubling is that despite being informed that interruption of this diet could result in my cat developing bloody diarrhea, there was no apparent urgency, compassion, or effort to help. The response I received felt focused on generating another office visit rather than ensuring continuity of care for a patient with a known medical condition. The front desk staff appeared completely unbothered by the situation, despite understanding the potential consequences for my cat. Meanwhile, I continue to receive marketing emails and promotions for care plans, which seem to receive more attention than the needs of actual patients. After more than four years as a loyal client, I am deeply disappointed. This experience has completely eroded my trust in this practice. I will be transferring all of my pets' care to West Loop Veterinary Care. Shame on you for treating a loyal client--and more importantly, a sick animal--this way. read more

You would think that in the neighborhood where the office is located that this would be a good place to take your fur baby. Instead my daughter took her dog to this vet clinic and they could not even treat the infection. My grand dog had "happy tail' an infection set in once the skin was broken. Good Vets could not stop the infection to the tune of $900! We had to take our furbaby to a private vet and they determined that the meds she was given (by Good Vets) did not stop the infection, it continued to spread because of the lack of aggression with the weak meds she was given.. Surgery had to be performed by the "new vet" her tail had to be "docked " My Granddog is only 2 years old and her body has gone through unnecessary trauma due to the lack of "good medicine that was administered to her initially by Good Vets. I would not take a pet fish to this location. They don't know what they are doing! Yelp will not allow a posting without stars, therefore I had to post 1 star to post, a rating was merited. They deserve nothing for customer service, medical services and compassion! read more

Just had my second check up for my fur babies. Everyone there was so nice to my baby boy even with how nervous he gets. They were so calm and patient with him as he warmed up to the staff. I'm writing this review after taking about a month to see if I was just upset, but no, I do believe that I was treated poorly and the whole situation was bad. I brought my two 3 month old kittens here to be seen for a well check after receiving them from an overseas breeder (I know, wtf, it's a long story and yes I'm that bougie.) This visit was fine. One of the cats had crusty eyes; a bit of discharge that came and went throughout the day. The vet gave them both a clean bill of health except the one with the eye thing, she said it was probably an eye infection and I should keep an eye on it (haha) and prescribed an ointment for me use daily. I did this as directed for a week, and there was no change. I called and the vet said that was concerning, said it was very likely an infection and prescribed some kind of medicated eye drops to use, and told me to keep a very close eye on it and if this didn't work, to come in right away. So I did the full course of the eye drops, 21 days, and it got better! So I was relieved. In the meantime, the app they have you download was blowing up telling me that my cats were overdue for their next well check and reminding me every day to make another appointment, which felt like, way too soon for some indoor kittens, but OK there must be a rhythm to these things and as a new cat owner, I was extremely vulnerable to not knowing what to do. In the meantime, waiting another week, the cat's eye crusties actually came back. So I pulled myself together, made an appointment, and in we went. This is when things got weird. So we're seeing the vet and first of all, this vet (a diff one) kept asking me things that were clearly in their chart from the first visit. (Do they have their shots?) so much so that I actually said to, "Have you read the charts?" The other thing was when we got to the eyes issue, I said I was concerned because we had gone through 2 expensive solutions and neither of them worked - so what would we do about the eye infection? Her answer was, "some cats just have crusty eyes." AFTER MAKING ME THINK THIS WAS A SERIOUS ISSUE that required 2 different medications for over 2 months, the answer was, "maybe just get some moisturizing wipes on amazon". In addition, she asked "why did you bring them in again so soon?" BECAUSE YOUR APP KEPT TELLING ME I HAD TO and because YOU SCARED ME INTO THINKING MY KITTEN HAD A SERIOUS EYE INFECTION. Lastly, the tech took their weight and I asked what they weighed and she said, "don't worry they are healthy" and I said, "I know that I need to know so I can monitor their food amounts." Like, duh, I'm not asking for fun. Isn't that an important thing a cat owner needs to know? To top it off, she kept referring to the cats as girls in the appointment. I corrected her 3 times, and then gave up. I was not being listened to. The whole thing felt weird and off-putting, not to mention it was expensive as my insurance denied all of these claims because the "appointments were too close together" - yeah, duh. The facility was clean, nice and convenient and the front desk staff seemed kind. We will not be back to GoodVets Streeterville. read more

I have been coming here for 4+ years but the treatment that I received over the last two months was absurd so I'll be moving all three of my pets to another vet. They did not renew food prescriptions and required us to bring pets in for extra appointments in order to fulfill food. This was an in house policy, not required legally. Food prescriptions are good for one full year but they cancelled food prescriptions in order to force more appointments ($$$). Upon bringing pets in to the vet, the worker was rude but tried to push the responsibility of renewing a food prescription onto me. I literally cannot approve a vet prescribed food. I had tried to call the office to have it rectified over the phone but they pushed an in person appointment as the only option. Workers did not call to indicate the food was cancelled. The white vet came in to tone police me, a tired situation for any woman of color. No thanks. read more

I'm writing this simple review on Thanksgiving because I'm deeply grateful to all the vets, receptionists and staff members here for taking my dog Mr. Troika in under short notice last Saturday. A week ago on Thursday evening I purchased a Good Buddy raw hide treat from the shelves of my nearest Whole Foods as a special reward for my pyrenees puppy. Later that evening he seemed agitated and in the morning I woke up to his accidents all over my floor and carpeting. I had to walk him every 3 to 4 hours because he kept having diarrhea and then what scared me even more is he began having blood in his stool. I called up Good Vets on Saturday morning, described his symptoms, told them about the raw hide treat and they urged me to send him over immediately as a drop off patient. The receptionist was very friendly and competent and all the customers were treated like gold. I felt absolutely comfortable leaving Mr. Troika in their care and they promised to call me later with a diagnosis and instructions. About an hour later Dr. Lauren Redies called me directly and said my dog had colitis and would need probiotics for 7 days in a row and antibiotics (Metronidazole) for 5 days. I explained i had found fragments of the undigested raw hide in his stool and she suggested an x-ray of his stomach. I declined because I remembered I had given him Barkworthy brand rawhide two months ago and that also irritated his bowels. Well it's Thanksgiving Day and I'm pleased to announce Mr. Troika is doing extremely well! The staff here also cleaned his fur thoroughly that day I dropped him off. I also wish to add I brought my mainecoon cat here two weeks to see Dr. Lee because my cat was having sneezing fits and everything was just fine Dr. Lee didn't condemn me for bringing him in to check for a respiratory infection and based on my past two visits I would definitely recommend any pet owner near the Streeterville neighborhood to bring their fur babies here. Your pets are treated with loving care and everyone that works here is a pleasure to meet. There's such a friendly and genuinely warm welcoming vibe here. Took my puppy for her exam on 12/1 and informed them that she was vaccinated already and brought the record with me. They were adamant she needed two more shots, cause "she was given them too young." As you can tell, I'm the only one that gave it a less and 5 star rating before. That should tell you I was way off and unreasonable. I'm so bummed I moved from the area because this vet was wonderful! My cat would even purr when she went in, because the vets and vet techs are so calming and good with cat behavior. My cat has herpes and IBS, and they helped manage the ongoing symptoms wonderfully. When I first adopted her, her sinus infection was so bad I was incredibly worried and she was overweight- they helped me work through the testing, medication schedule, and a food diet plan that kept her in good health while also losing weight. I was able to clear up her infection, keep her vision working in her herpes affected eye, and minimize future breakouts through preventative treatments like a daily probiotic. Her fur was stiff and scraggly when I first got her, but through proper nutrition and treatment it's now incredibly shiny and soft. At the end of last year, she had an emergency and needed to be taken into the emergency vet that was unrelated to GoodVets. I was shocked to receive a phone call from my vet at GoodVets and also an email the next day from a GoodVets vet tech checking in on her and wishing for her recovery. That made me feel supported in a hard time (shes since made full recovery). They always thoroughly explained costs and options when asked, which helped me work through an affordable yet effective plan, and also navigate my pet insurance claims well. They also send reminders for vaccinations and suggested preventative treatments like fecal tests and heart worm tests so I have less worry about missing something important. I feel like I've been bamboozled to pick up medication for my dog (no info on what or how much) until I actually get there. And recently, I went to pick up antibiotics and found out it was $60 for 14 pills. I ended up looking on chewy and found 30 pills of a generic brand for $30. What prompted me to write this is that when I went last to pick that prescription up, it was apparent they were annoyed with me. The receptionist couldn't have been more disinterested in talking to me. When I made the decision to get it through chewy, they didn't respond to my last message or return my call but approved my prescription through chewy 2 minutes later. The front desk staffers have always been friendly and often offer my pup a beef liver treat for being a good girl. I always get emails answered promptly and LOVE the peace of mind knowing they're open 7 days a week. TL;DR Our dog, Stella, went from being a perfectly healthy, happy, energetic dog to a diabetic, emaciated, almost fully paralyzed dog in one month... all because we took her in to have a hot spot cleaned. She was put to sleep one month after coming to GoodVets. We are writing this so any pet owner never has to experience what we did. We brought Stella in with a hot spot. They had to sedate her to clean it and shave the fur around it, but they did not shave the fur at all. Her fur got matted in the wound again, and we had to bring her back the next day to have her undergo more sedation so they could properly clean it. They put her on prednisone. Within a few days, Stella was drinking much more water than normal and having accidents in the house. We limited her water intake to 3x her normal amount (although she would have drank way more). GoodVets told us this was all normal and it was ok to continue limiting her water. We later found out this was dehydrating her. Two weeks after the hot spot, we found Stella in the middle of the night unable to stand. My wife and I helped her up and she pooped right in front of us. We took her to the ER at 3 am. They said to have her rest and see GoodVets in a week. In the morning we told GoodVets and they agreed. They continued to dismiss our concerns about all of the side effects she was experiencing. We noticed through Stella's fur that we could feel her bones. She was still acting very weird, so we brought her in the next day. She had gone from 80-85 pounds to about 70 over these two weeks (She was a malamute, so we did not notice her weight loss through all the fur). They still were completely unconcerned. They ran a blood test anyway to alleviate our concerns and found that she had developed diabetes, a known complication of prednisone (Excess thirst and urination we later found out are also side effects of diabetes). Although there is no way to confirm with absolute 100% certainty that the diabetes was caused by the prednisone, it would be a shocking coincidence for Stella to have developed diabetes by chance the same week she went on a drug known to trigger diabetes. She also had never shown signs of prediabetes prior to this (e.g. frequent urination, excess drinking, cloudy eyes, vomiting, increased/decreased appetite, weakness/fatigue, etc.). We were referred to MedVets as an emergency case because they thought she may be DKA. MedVets ran more tests, had us wean her off prednisone, and began Stella on daily insulin. Meanwhile, Stella's condition continued to noticeably worsen every day. She could no longer use her back legs to stand or walk. We had to carry her and support her for everything from eating to drinking to going to the bathroom. Out of desperation, we took her to another vet that we were referred to. They told us that she was in extreme pain and that if we were able to stop her rapid decline, the best case at this point would be hoping to have her walk on her own again after rigorous physical therapy (and that was a complete uncertainty). We felt that was an unfair choice to make for her and made the decision to put her to sleep. Although prescribing prednisone was probably an aggressive treatment for a hot spot, that is a doctor's judgment call. However, GoodVets dismissed our repeated concerns about Stella's extreme side effects, never noticed her weight loss despite being weighed at appointments in their office three times over the two weeks before she was transferred to MedVet, and has not accepted responsibility nor acknowledged their role in Stella no longer being here. Stella might still be here if they had listened to our worries and responded accordingly. Stella went from being a perfectly healthy, happy, energetic dog to a diabetic, emaciated, almost fully paralyzed dog in one month... all because we took her in to have a hot spot cleaned. We asked GoodVets to cover her medical bills. They referred us to their insurer who offered a fraction of the bills we accumulated. Very important review - please read. Should be 0. This is by far the absolute worst Vet that I have ever visited. Their ineptitude is past appalling and feels comical. If you live in Chicago, have pets, but want them to have veterinary care - run, don't walk away from his place. However, if you like to pay high prices, have no communication or treatment plans, and instead desire to slam your face into a brick wall repeatedly - definitely book an appointment! There appears to be no management at all of this particular clinic. The front desk has virtually no clue what is ever going on with any pet you may or may not have. The back end of the office (Vets and Technicians) seem to be very skilled at their roles but somehow their treatment plans, follow up instructions, and any other communications never make it out of their closed doors into the hands of the front desk. Their mistakes seem to be chronic and part of a do not care culture that permeates into possibly on purpose flaws? I have two geriatric cats that have Chronic Kidney Disease. One of them is pretty far along his journey with the disease and requires a tailored treatment plan that includes weekly injections, home administered fluids, and periodic blood or urinalysis. The results of those tests meaningfully change his required appointment frequency and thereby needs to be reflected in his scheduled appointments + prescriptions. Unfortunately, that seems to be the Achilles heel of this clinic - following their own scheduling and administrative processes to ensure he is able to get what he needs. We have been told by the veterinarians at this location that he needs to be at the clinic weekly, then they told me that he needs to be there bi-weekly, then monthly, then back to weekly, and so on. That actually isn't a problem - I understand that treatment plans can evolve based on the requirements of the patient. The issue is that whenever this happens and we try to schedule these new appointments - the front desk has absolutely no clue, cannot find the notes from the skilled vet, and instead hassles me or treats me poorly for changing appointments. One such case happened when we changed his appointments from weekly, to monthly, and then back to bi-weekly. The front desk literally laughed at me on the phone when I asked to change his appointments. They claimed I had, "No Showed tons of appointments" and I needed to be, "able to ensure I could actually make them". They said their records indicated a comment that said my appointments had been missed. The truth? Those weekly appointments were canceled when the doctor told us to move them to monthly instead of weekly (obviously, if you had two months worth of weekly appointments and halfway through they are supposed to change to monthly - they would necessarily need to cancel the 4 other weekly? Right?). This comes a week after I drove 3 hours round trip from a weekend at a Wisconsin lake house to Chicago to take my cat there for the injection he receives to ensure I did NOT miss an appointment. This is just one mistake - there are countless others. The worst part of the experience is that we are probably an ideal customer type for this particular type of veterinary clinic. I live two blocks away, we have two cats that require a lot of high costs tests and visits, and we just got two puppies! I am more than willing to pay any costs associated with giving my animals the best possible care to have them live their lives to the fullest. Unfortunately, the lack of care, follow through, unprofessionalism, and mistake prone care of this clinic has burnt me far too many times to endanger my pets with continued visits. Other misses by this team: No communication between the front and back of the house which resulted in appointments not being scheduled according to treatment plans provided by the veterinarian staff. Unprofessional communication and behavior from front desk staff. They never send you record information about tests or evaluations. We have gotten the best care from the Veterinary Emergency Group - having to use them as almost our primary because this place never follows up or provides instructional care. Prescriptions not being communicated or updated resulting in confusion from both the front desk and veterinarian staff. Emails not being responded to for weeks at a time resulting in repeated follow up calls or emails to get action from front desk. Even simple things like sending our new (good) vet the records of our animals cannot be completed. They sent records that showed we had only gone to the veterinarian in March 2022 despite having weekly appointments for about 2 months after that time. More simple things they can't do is attach vet records to emails in which they tell you they have attached records. Nickel and diming us for a lot of things that we later figured out (from another vet in the city) that we could just do at home. read more
