They do a really good job. My dog is always fresh, cute, and happy after coming here. They give you a little cute journal, and the staff is friendly. And I'm not the only one happy. I think my dog also has a good experience here, because every time we walk by, she wants to come in and say hi. I have had some minor issues with them in the past, though. One time the groomers were discussing my dog's case in Korean in front of me. I found it a little rude to be walked about in a language I don't speak right on my face. Another time, they didn't do the glans expression they were supposed to do, but never happened again. And lastly, like I said, my dog likes to come in and say hi. She's very sociable, and she does the same thing in the vet a few doors down. Over there, they remember her, they say hi to her, give her treats, etc.. Here, when I say that she just wants to say hi, they almost always immediately lose interest. But I did give them a 5-star review. Overall, those things, while annoyances, don't distract from the fantastic job they do. It's hard to find good groomers, and this is one of them. Aggressive dog at the front desk tried to bite my finger off and caused severe trauma. My finger yesterday could be your small dog's head one day! Management or owner has never apologized or sent cctv footage despite requested 10+ times. When I asked for the dog owner's contact because NY state law requires a 10 day observation period after a dog bite, the store told me no and talk to their lawyer, which I will do after I ask law enforcement to get the other owner's contact tomorrow. A friend referred me to PupStudio, and I was excited to try their Korean-style grooming. I showed photos and even provided guard numbers, but the haircut looked nothing like what I requested. My dog's hair was uneven and different lengths throughout, his ears were still dirty on both visits, and I later discovered a large bald spot on his shoulder that no one mentioned. When I asked about it, no one could explain what happened. I gave the salon a second chance, but my experience was disappointing again. The cashier was rude, and when I chose to split my payment so I could leave a tip, I was told I'd be charged nearly $30 extra for using my card. To make matters worse, they tied my dog near the door as if I wasn't going to pay, which was embarrassing. I brought my mini bernedoodle here twice. My first experience was nice, but I will heavily debate going back here after my second experience. I gave very specific instructions about how I wanted my puppy cut. She had some fur loss on her back legs due to a rash, so I wanted her body evened out but I requested her head hair remain longer and to NOT cut the hair around her bum as I do not like when she's overly exposed. I told the groomer if he deemed fit to do a light cut with a scissor but to not cut too much. He did exactly the opposite of what I requested. Her head is almost completely shaved and her whole butthole is exposed. Additionally, they did an anal gland cleaning with was NOT cleared with me. My puppy tried to poop after her appointment and started SCREAMING. Thank God we were right outside of BondVet next door, and they suggested we check with the groomer to see if they cleaned her anal gland. Turns out they did and my baby girl was screaming so much, I pray no dog mommy ever has to hear those screams. Her nails are also barely cut. I still hear her nails on the floor when she's walking/running around the house and the cut she did get is very choppy/uneven. They are very clean, she came back smelling great and fresh, and do a nice job generally, but I'm very disappointed in the lack of listening to my requests. read more

This place did a terrible job with our puppy. We showed photos and gave detailed explanations of what we wanted. We got none of those things. Further, he was left patchy and uneven. It looks like a child took a machine to our pup. According to their own "pupstudio journal" they did not encounter any issues with quality of coat or skin there was no matting and although he was nervous sine it was a new place they had no issues. I fail to understand what went wrong here and my best guess is that as a new client they decided to place us with an inexperienced groomer. Do not waste your money here. read more

Pupstudio, recommended to us by the head of our dog's rescue, Korean K9 Rescue, we were initially nervous bringing Rumi, a puppy mill rescue for his first NYC cut! The team, understood why we were nervous, but calmed all of our nerves after we met with Sofia, his groomer, to go over exactly what we wanted. One inch off, don't want him to look like a teddy bear, they asked every detail and utilized old photos of Rumi to capture. The team called, as soon as we were able to watch our boy begin his cut! As soon as we saw Sofia smiling and Rumi's tail wagging we were at ease! What a beautiful cut! We were even given a journal with a thoughtful note about Rumi's experience. Thank YOU! Our dog was returned to us after grooming with one of his eyes closed, unable to open it. It didn't get any better, so we had to take him to the emergency vet on a Saturday. He was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer (scratch in his eye). In addition to this, one of his paws was shaved too closely, we found an abrasion wound. Spoke with a manager on the phone who didn't even bother to call back after talking to the groomer, to explain what might have happened. We are obviously not returning. There are other, gentler services out there who are better suited to what is supposed to be a wellness experience for our dog. read more

Since we came back to leave in the city a few years ago I have been trying yo find a groomer that will give my puppy a good hair cut. One was worse than the next. Finally I hit the Jackpot. My fur baby who is 14 years old came out looking like his old self when he was a puppy. It was amazing! I took my Frenchie here after self-grooming him due to my last horrific grooming experience. The establishment was immaculate and welcoming, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. They took into consideration that he is a French Bulldog and were very knowledgeable about his breed's specific grooming method. They kept me informed throughout the grooming process, which was greatly appreciated. When I picked him, he looked amazing and smelled so good. They cut his nails perfectly and filed them to shape. He tends to shed a lot, and I'm not sure what they used, but he has been shedding barely, and his coat is so smooth and soft. His breath also smells fantastic; they got rid of his stubborn tear stains. I also love the fact that they offer just a nail cut as a service; many others I've contacted want to include it in some package. I live a bit far, but I will travel to receive this top-notch service for my baby. I highly recommend them; they are not only groomers, but they are very knowledgeable and empathetic towards the pups that go there. read more

This was the worst grooming experience I've ever had. I picked Pupstudio based on the numerous five-star Yelp and Google reviews and was extremely disappointed after the fact. I anticipated paying the premium for a good groom for my Maltese puppy. However, he came out with a very choppy cut - lopsided ears, uneven chin fur, uneven snout fur that gives him a look akin to a handlebar mustache, and evident straight-line cuts in his body fur that resemble razor marks, rather than scissor work. Pupstudio boasts an incredible Instagram of well-groomed dogs, to which I showed the groomer two similar Malteses from their own portfolio (photos attached to this review as a reference). Both the groomer and another staff member (who acted as the groomer's translator) confirmed with me that she could recreate the look. I dropped him off and was informed that it would take about 3 hours to finish his full grooming. Upon picking him up, the first thing I noticed was that his body fur was extremely short. While I had asked for some length to be taken off, nearly almost all of his fur had been cut short. His chin fur was also drastically cut short and was choppy. We also did not receive a report card with any information about his groom upon checking out. Later on in the day, when I finally had a chance to sit with him on the couch, I noticed his ears were cut lopsided. His right side (my left) is more angular, while the his left side (my right) is more horizontal. While I could excuse a poor groom if I went to somewhere like PetSmart, there is no excuse for paying $160 (before tip) for a dog groom, only for my dog to come out looking like he was wearing a bad Party City wig. And before Pupstudio's staff replies to my review to try to say that the poor haircut was from a different groomer -- my dog's fur was cut so short that even 3 weeks later, it hasn't regrown enough yet for me to even consider seeing another groomer. If you're considering Pupstudio to be your new groomer, I hope you're reconsidering after reading my experience. read more

Absolutely horrible job and a complete lack of professional integrity -- groomer left the dog looking like this, job half done. No dog should walk out of a real grooming salon looking like this. In my many years of owning a dog in the city, I have never had a dog left a groomer's looking like this. For $200 inclusive of tips, I have a half-groomed, half-finished dog. A couple other groomers in the neighborhood charge about the same, but the old school groomers know what they're doing and will never return a half-finished dog to the client. If the salon doesn't have properly trained, qualified staff or enough time to spend on individual dogs, they should not be providing the service. Bait & Switch We have two puppies and we booked a grooming service with Pupstudio over the phone. We had agreed to get the puppies' facial haircuts and sanitary trims for $100 each. When we got to our appointment, we were told the facial haircuts were $30 extra. We were a bit annoyed with this price increase but proceeded with the servie. When we got our puppies back, we were OK with the sanitary trim but their facial hair was still too long. We ddin't make an issue of it because we decide that Pupstudio is too expensive for the quality of service they're providing. We'll be looking for a new groomer for our puppies. read more

I've always passed by the studio and I'm glad I finally took Benji to check it out! The staff really does an amazing job and asks a lot of questions ahead of time to find out exactly what you want for your dog. It is a full spa treatment that will leave your dog feeling pampered! Benji even got a notebook on his first day that described his before and after journey as well as how he was during his grooming. The staff took a photo of him (also gave him a bow on his neck) and added it to the notebook as a keepsake. It is definitely a little more on the pricier side vs other groomers, but for the job well done it's worth it. read more

Was looking forward to this place based on the reviews and pictures of other dogs. For reference, my dog is a shih tzu who weights 19 pounds so i booked her for a full grooming - small dog (as I do at every other groomer). About 20 minutes after I left I received a text that she will be considered a medium dog and the price will be $30 extra. She was already there and in process so I said fine but they should have told me that prior. Then we went to pick her up and they said usually new clients get a book with their picture and progress but "ran out of them". Definitely not the best haircut she has gotten and double the price of what I usually pay. Also they went a little close and irritated her. Definitely wont be coming back. Edit: I love that they are now claiming that the picture I posted 3 minutes after we got home from their facility "wasn't from them". It just magically happened in like 3 mins we got home? Several people at the dog park raved about Pup Stuido so I took my pup there for grooming. The groomer did not speak English so the lady at the front desk interpreted my instructions: leave the fur long-ish and shape the face ROUND. When I picked up my dog, her body fur was a good length and looked good. Her face, however, was rectanguar, definitely not round as requested. :-( The financial aspect of this transaction was disappointing as well. The base price for a small dog (12 lbs) is $150. They supposedly offer a 15% discount if you pay cash. GREAT! At checkout, the numbers didn't make sense. Pup Studio gave 15% off but ADDED sales tax plus a $4 "transaction fee." When I asked about these two items, the girl simply pointed at the sign on their countertop and said "it's our policy." My guess is that they're pocketing the "tax" and padding the bill with a transaction fee that makes zero sense. IMO, the grooming job they did was good, but not worth nearly $200. For that kind of money I should be skipping down the street with joy. The quest for a good affordable groomer continues... read more

GROOMER DAMAGED my pup's back and he lost his ability to use his legs. They called & said I had to pick him up in a stroller. I took him to the ER where I was told his back was injured. As a result, I had to put him down 2 weeks later. I am shattered. Back story: When I came to collect him - with a friend's stroller - the groomer did not appear. Someone else carried him out. I was given no explanation. Through my tears I tried to be polite and thank them and now that I am calmer and trying to understand what happened the company is refusing to share the video which would help bring me closure. They wrote they cannot share the video until I share the hospital record. It appears they are concerned about litigation, which is not my style, but their concern is clearly an admission that something on their end went terribly wrong. What's worse, they are now claiming that when I brought him in I said he was weak. Nonsense. Had I indeed said that he was weak why did PupStudio accept the responsibility of grooming him? Please, I beg you! Do not use PupStudio. They take no responsibility for their care and may hurt your pup. read more

Please do not take your dog here unless it is a doodle or a Pomeranian. After showing photos and confirming verbally with the groomer and the woman at the front desk, and repeating after me "only trim the feet, NO sanitary trim, NO trimming above the feet," the groomer trimmed my dog's sanitary area, thinned his tails, and shortened his coat overall. I was furious and cried for two hours. My dog has been colder and refused to walk all winter because they gave him a haircut they told me that they would not give him, on the place where he gets coldest that you can't cover with a coat--his tush! To clarify, he arrived and beautiful shape with no matts and had had a wash and blowout elsewhere the week before. Also, their shampoo smells so strong that I just gave my dog another bath afterwards at home. You could smell him from 5 feet away and it just made me even more upset. They did refund my money, but after I told him that I would call the credit card company and tell them to halt the payment anyway. read more
