*DO NOT GO if you want your instructions to be listened to* I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I felt this needed to be shared. I brought my Papillon to QQ Dog Grooming and clearly asked--both in person and via text--to keep his ears long to preserve the signature look of his breed. I even provided a photo reference and confirmed the instructions again when I dropped him off. Unfortunately, they still cut his ears short, completely disregarding my request. When I brought it up, the groomer casually said they "shaped up the ears" and barely even apologized and didn't bother to offer to make things right, but this wasn't a minor miscommunication--it was a clear and repeated request that was ignored. It will now take a long time to grow back, and it's especially frustrating because his ears are such a defining feature of the Papillon breed. I appreciate that mistakes happen, but what's disappointing is the lack of accountability and attention to detail. If you care about breed-specific grooming or want your instructions to be followed, I'd suggest going elsewhere. I have been taking my rescue Shih Tzu here for 5 years. Always overpriced and never get the cut I've asked for. Last month I was asked to sign a waiver because my dog is a senior. This month she didn't even have the courtesy to tell me she wouldn't take him again, for being a senior, texted later. I recently adopted a Pitbull, Mochi, from the shelter and he was sooo smelly! I've been researching for someone to take him to get a doggy bath and stumbled across QQPets. It's in my neighbourhood too so I decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Ivy and Helen. Helen owns the place and she was very friendly. She immediately took Mochi inside and I waited around an hour and a half to pick him up (it's a small space so take a walk around the neighbourhood and don't overcrowd them). When I picked him up, Mochi came out with a HUGE smile. No fear, no discomfort, no anxiety. That's when you know you scored a good groomer. They must have taken such good care of him while bathing him! He smells SO good, looks so handsome and Helen even gifted Mochi a red bandana to look dapper. We have been to QQ a few times now. Overall, we were satisfied with the service and liked our pup's haircut. We are very careful about who we trust our dog with since she is only 4 lbs. The last time we got her groomed at QQ, I noticed that my dog had a cut on her stomach when we came home. I understand that when dogs are moving around while getting groomed, they can get nicked. The only problem I have is that they never communicated this to us. My dog had a scab that lasted for weeks! I remember that when I got to the shop to pick her up and asked how it went, Helen simply responded with "Yeah, your dog moves around a lot." I have seen my dog getting groomed many times (when we used to have a groomer come to our place) and she stays very calm and still if she is comfortable with the groomer. This woman knows one cut and pretends to know more than that when you leave the dog in her care. When i came back, the dog was just shaved down. The cuts were blunted and uneven. She uses the excuse that the dog is matted when the dog is brushed everyday and is not matted - especially not enough to warrant this cut. Even so, a cut so drastically different to what i spent 15 minutes explaining would warrant some sort of communication. As i always say, you can always cut more but you can't put it back. When communicating how disappointed I was in this cut, the only reaction was "maybe you don't like my style." I would absolutely not recommend this place, and I plan on sharing that opinion with every dog owner I interact with at the dog run and parks in the area. My boyfriend took our 5 m.o. puppy, Finn (a wheaten terrier), here for his very first grooming. He can be an absolute terror when it comes to brushing unless you shovel treats into his mouth the entire time, so I was nervous that he might be treated roughly out of frustration and end up hating being professionally groomed. NOT the case here. My boyfriend had only compliments for this spot, saying Finn absolutely loved his groomer and that everyone in the place seemed to genuinely love their animal clients, greeting them enthusiastically with lots of love and pats. They also replicated our picture guides perfectly and I was so glad-- wheatens' first haircuts are already very sad as it basically turns them into a new dog because their fur color grows out from puppy brown to adult white. The fact that they got the haircut just right helped ease the sadness of losing his puppy coloring. With my previous doggy, none of his groomers were particularly friendly, which I understood up to a point, as I'm sure it's a job that probably tries one's patience -- so my boyfriend's glowing review when he returned last Saturday from QQ was such a relief. We live just up the street and QQ's will definitely remain Finn's permanent groomer. For those curious, the total was around $90 for Finn: he's about 25-30 lbs and went in with fairly long, thick fur and we asked for a pretty short cut to finish out the summer with. Another note: love that the owner responds to text messages, even when it's a request to reschedule. SO convenient! read more

My dog was treated with whitening shampoo at QQ despite multiple requests to not do so. I let Helen know that my dog had allergies and that his skin is sensitive. I also gave her his hypoallergenic shampoo to use. She assured me that they would use it on him, and told me not to worry. Yet, my dog was treated with whitening shampoo - I noticed that brown spots on his feet and mustache (that developed as my dog started aging) were almost gone and the fur looked unnaturally shiny white. QQ to the rescue! I was in need of a new groomer who would be consistent with my Sasha and I think I've finally found it. Sasha paws were matted because she refused to let me combed the hair there and would run and hid anytime I tried so I explained that when I called so they would have an idea of what would need to be done. When we arrived today after tackling the wind and rain from the Bronx both ladies greeted me with a smile. Helen is AMAZING! My very 'spirited' 4 month old mini schnauzer puppy desperately needed his first grooming and having given him many a bath, I know what a handful he can be! I was expecting to get a phone call minutes after dropping him off telling me that this demon could not be groomed... 2 hours later, Helen called and said he was ready to be picked up, and when I arrived she was all smiles, and my puppy was SO HANDSOME! She even put a smart little bandana on him:) MOST IMPORTANTLY, she found a tick on him, which she carefully removed and saved in a baggie to show me, and wanted to make sure that I had him on tick prevention.
