Let me start off by saying this whole process of trying to eat at the restaurant took about an hour and it was the most stressful ordeal ever. As I type this, I still haven't received my order almost an hour ago and I'm now going back to reorder because I've invested too much time in this one meal I haven't eaten. The online website link doesn't work for me so I couldn't even access a menu to reorder over the phone and the English/Spanish barrier was significant to make it difficult over the phone as well. I walked in and i guess they realized i was the one blowing up their phone and had my order ready but not without a twist: they were out of one item i asked for. I said okay to whatever they had at this point and paid and left. It was still packed when i left so people love their food and I don't blame them. Service was just not up to par. The tacos were A little cold but that was probably because it was waiting for me upon arrival. I wish they had made the order 30 minutes prior when I asked and had it ready but instead it was ready an hour later upon me making a very frustrated call 10 minutes to my arrival and even then my food was still waiting out for me so it wasn't as hot and fresh as I would like it to be.I can see why a lot of people go there and it was pretty good but it was not as great as it would've been if I wasn't frustrated. I'm not sure if I will go back or recommend others to go back but I can't ignore the fact that the food is good. I do have a thing for wanting good customer service especially when I'm paying for it which is not a lot to ask. Its kind of confusing here (maybe because I entered from the rear) Im not sure if the hostess was not prepared to welcome me with menus or if they were just occupied. I just walked in, sat myself and found a menu with bad typography, bad photos and spelling. I absolutely love this place! My best friend lives near by and every time I visit her this is a must stop! I have never dined in and only carried out. The few times I've been here there was about a 30 minute wait. Therefore, if you are impatient you will want to call ahead. I also only tried the pupusas and their plantain empanadas. I prefer any of the pupusas with beans in them. I enjoyed the plantain empanada, but my husband did not. I think he was expecting it to be a fried dough like a traditional empanada. Although the pupusas here are great, staff needs improvement. You can place an order over the phone hoping to be in and out quite quickly; however that is not the case. My best friend and I decided to try this place yesterday for the first time since we'd heard awesome reviews from others. The manager, Xiomara, was extremely rude and racially targeted my best friend. We were very offended in the way that she spoke to and treated both of us while waiting to place an order, but especially, my best friend. The other employees, however, were helpful in the best way that they knew how being that it was our first time there. Our food ended up being pretty good as well (once Xiomara left for the evening). She should watch the way that she treats others that are not of her same her race/nationality. I am still reeling over this food. These are the best papusas I have ever eaten (granted I have only 2 other places to compare it to). They are made fresh to order. The ayote, queso con loroco, y queso con pollo are amazing. The cabbage and sauce are what you'd expect. They are inexpensive, delicious and filling. The plantanos are awesome as well. I had never been to a Salvadorian restaurant before I visited here and had no idea what to expect. I was so pleasantly surprised. I tried many kinds of pupusas, chicken, pork, beans, but my favorite was the Ayote con queso (squash, I think). I loved the cabbage slaw, it added such a nice crunch to the creamy savory pupusas! I'm not really sure what the deal is with the tomato sauce; I didn't really feel like it had much flavor, but the added saucy-ness of it was good. The real winner here was the Plantanos Fritos - they were amazing!!! I almost ordered another plate. Who knew that plantains and beans could be so incredible?!?!? I certainly did not, but I have been trying to replicate these ever since I tried them. Sadly I don't live here, so I can't come back every day for them, but if I was in the neighborhood I sure would :) This place is great, it's by no means fancy but who cares. It's also a great value. I have been coming here for some time now and I absolutely enjoy the food here !! However, today was not such a great visit. The pupusas were raw !!! Completely raw !!! My first concern, Once you bit into it you felt the dough of the pupusas. Second concern I order a revuelta pupusa, I took two bites of this and soon came to reslize that it was only cheese and beans which was not what I ordered. The third concern, we orders some carne asadas and of course all include tortillas. The tortillas were given to us and soon come to realize we tasted, smelled and touched them they felt as if they were made in the afternoon and given to us at 8 in the evening. We asked for them to remake and they come out to be raw as well. After we asked for the tortillas to be made again they came out after we had finished eating. Lastly, the drinks were absolutely horrible. For the many times that we have came to this establishment we have a great memorization of the handmade drinks. We drank what appeared to be juice made from powder. Btw it was tamarindo! It taste absolutely different and when asked the server said that it was different and admitting to use of these mistakes. The taste of the Loroco was so bad, my younger daughter just kept saying "this taste funky" until she finally just gave up on eating it. The revueltas were...confusing. I know it should have shredded pork in it but I couldn't find it. Then as I was taking my last bite, I stumbled upon some! It was like pieces of cheese, beans and pork in different sections of the pupusa not all mixed in the way it should be. Personally for me the only thing I'll come here for would be the pupusas that's it. I ordered pan con pollo (chicken sandwich essentially) and I specifically told them not to add chicken bones, I bit into the sandwich and there it is full of bones. Also a huge chunk of cucumber and a big slice of tomato and the chicken was dry. The sandwich itself tasted ok but ofcourse nothing beats homemade. I also ordered pastelitos de carne (beef empanada sort of) but the stuffing was pure potatoes and what tasted like frozen or canned green beans, NO beef at all not even a bit. So I got ripped off there lol. The fried sweet plantains were ok but seemed as though they were the frozen kind because of the taste and the way the slices looked. If you have ever sliced it yourself before you know how it looks. I have been to the other chains of these restaurants for years in the past, and it seems as though the quantity of this place is declining.
