They even have an ofrenda in the corner. There is parking in the back. I was afraid to park behind the hotel next door that shares the same parking lot but it seemed like a lot of people were parking there and going to the restaurant. The Quesabirria I got was excellent. The consume that came with it was not very flavorful, but fortunately the quesabirria was delicious without it. My friend got a variety of tacos and the Al pastor was his favorite. They did not have the plantains/bananas today for the Licuada de fresa y platano so I got it with just the strawberries. The shrimp tacos are my go to, but I've also had the Caldo de Mariscos and the Shrimp Quesadilla. Don't leave without trying the Tres Leches. It's literally the best. The service is great. I would like to start off by saying I believe in the beginning this restaurant was amazing! But now because of the influx of business I feel like orders are rushed and the quality is taking the hit. I went last night for a pickup order and yes the restaurant was semi packed out, the to go table had at least 15 orders on it. Idk I think I'll try other Mexican grills in the future. It's been over 7 years...still worth the drive and money. Under new ownership, but they've managed to work out the kinks that made it so-so a few years back. There was an unfortunate period where the food wasn't seasoned. It seemed like they were trying to appeal to a different palate, but thank goodness that hurdle was cleared. Finally tried the cabeza tacos that people keep raving about and they're a delicious treat! A little greasy but worth every bite. So are the Al pastor tacos. I didn't know how much I loved pork until now. Honorable mention: those wonderful bags of pinwheel style chips. The cashier said they're made of pork and my oh my oh my! I ordered four individual tacos (chicken, chorizo , steak, and carnitas) and a side of rice and beans. $18. The tacos are exactly what you'd expect for an authentic Mexican taco. Corn tortillas packed with meat and topped with cilantro and onions. I really enjoyed the chorizo taco and the rice beans. Great flavor and not too salty. I wasn't as excited about the other three as the meat was slightly under seasoned and dry. The sauces they give you definitely helped. Overall, I was happy with the entire experience. I passed by los Primos on a rainy day for some dinner. I decided to try something new instead of their amazing tacos, which are always very flavorful and decided to try posole to my surprise. This was my first (but not last) visit at Los Primos and I enjoyed everything, including the speedy service and online ordering. Ordering online ahead of time meant I walked right up to the register and he handed me my bag. I came on a Saturday morning around 11:30 and it wasn't busy yet. The queso tastes like a typical cheese sauce from a can with slightly more seasoning, so I'm not mad? But it's definitely milder and not as flavorful as a white queso from other restaurants. The guacamole was simple but very good, and it started to brown a little bit once I opened the container, which I was really happy about because it meant it was real ingredients lol I thought the birria tacos were delicious. Flavorful, a slight kick, lots of meat in the shell. It was good with and without a squeeze of lemon, and with and without the consommé. A taco is really good if it can stand on its own, and this one did. 4 of them was way too many. Next time, I'll order 2 tacos and get 2 different flavors instead of the 4 Tacos de Birria dish. I was expecting there to be cheese on them but there wasn't. I'm sure my expectations is just me being American. I was disappointed when I saw there was no cheese, but then didn't care at all once I tasted it. The side of beans and rice was evenly flavored and complemented each other really well. The meat quality is top-notch, and they've got that authentic LA or Texas street taco feel that's hard to come by anywhere on the East Coast. I've tried spots all over the East and the DMV and I can confidently say these are the BEST tacos in the area. The service is solid. The ladies (& gentlemen) who work there are warm, welcoming, and efficient. You can tell they've done this for a long time. They bring the food to your table but they aren't waiter so there is no tip requirement. As for ambiance, it's local, casual, and unapologetically Hispanic--just how a taqueria should be. There's a little bar of sauces and toppings you can customize your tacos with, which adds that extra personal touch. If you're looking for fancy decor and trendy cocktails, this isn't your spot. So, I had to take my dad to get a taste of one of my favorite foods that I always eat in California. BIRRIA!! I did my research and found this place! My dad isn't a huge fan of Mexican food, but now he is obsessed and we've already went back another time before I left for his birthday lunch. I ordered the birria tacos and the quesadilla with birria (no onions or cilantro) also chips and salsa (they do give you a big sized thing of salsa with your chips, but there's also a salsa bar! Which I am a sucker for salsa bars! This place is so lively and colorful. One of the sweet girls working here was putting out fresh roses on the altar they have and cleaning the place After about 10 minutes they brought the food out to the table (you order up front at the register and they give you a number to take to your table and bring it out) The Birria was amazing!!! I got ripped off because some how I only ended up with one taco and a little piece of the quesadilla because my dad couldn't stop eating it lol. He LOVED the consommé that comes with it. They gave us two big containers of it with our meals. I'll admit, the consommé was great. It wasn't too salty or spicy. Had an amazing flavor to it which was mild I'll be honest with you, living in Maryland for two years I never found one single Mexican restaurant that was authentic. But now we have this place to go to! Their menu is actually pretty decent in size I have zero complaints, we both walked away so happy and I'm thrilled I have my dad hooked on birria and this place. They do have a couple TVs I noticed, if you come here during rush hour like prime time lunch or dinner be prepared to wait. Because the amount of people that were already there at 11 am was crazy P.S. they have a military discount! I didn't notice any soda fountain drinks or alcohol. I believe it's just bottled water and soda. But they do offer drinks like horchata. We ordered water bottles and it wasn't the tiny kinds they give you at restaurants. These were huge. Whenever I come to places like that I always have to order 2 water bottles at least. But I still had leftover water from the large bottle. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is their rice, It was just average. But their other stuff blew us away. YES Were the side veggies-- turnip and cucumber fresh? YES Nice Staff- YES Were they full of flavor? Well, this department needs a little work. The steak tacos were a bit dry, and the meat was not very tender. The Al Pastor was okay. The sauces provided did help to make them taste better. When trying a new place, I prefer to choose something basic and taquitos or flautas and street tacos are pretty basic for Mexican food (my mom is from Mexico City). I ordered flauta (taquitos) platters that came with refried beans and rice. In the platter the restaurant provides a healthy portion with both red and green sauce. While the dish is decent, I noticed they don't season the meat. I guess the cheese, lime and salsa are supposed to be enough. In my family, we always seasoned the meat. The service was friendly and quick because of the lines but there's no waiting area. The food came out pretty quickly and the portions are good. I got the birria tacos with cheese and it came with 4 tacos and consumé. They were flavorful and greasy haha! Super filling as well. The grilled onions and green salsa included were awesome too. The Mexican coke was giant, I needed backup to help finish it. The horchata was good but I felt it was grainier than I'm used to.
