I had not been to Sin Fronteras for several years. Today, six friends met me there for a pop up lunch. Everything was great as always. Our server, Fernando, set us up with separate checks. Several of us enjoyed margaritas. Everyone thought the food was amazing. I had the Ensalada Sin Fronteras with chicken. One friend had fajitas, another one had the chile relleno, someone had the tortilla soup, and another one had a salad topped with salmon. June 2025 Sin Fronteras Café We came to Sin Fronteras Café for dinner and met up with some friends--this was my wife's and my first visit, though our friends had been here before and spoke highly of it. We started with chips and salsa, and they were excellent. The salsa wasn't overly spicy, just full of great flavor, and the chips were fresh and crisp--definitely a strong start to the meal. My wife ordered the chicken chimichanga. It was quite different from what we usually get at the Mexican spots we frequent--it was one large chimichanga served with a small salad, whereas we're used to getting two smaller ones with rice and beans, which we usually share. Still, it was tasty and satisfying in its own unique way. I ordered the Chicharrón en Salsa Verde--crispy pork and onions in a green tomato sauce, topped with cilantro and served with rice and warm flour tortillas. It had great flavor and the pork had a nice texture--crisp but not dry. Our friends ordered a variety of dishes, including: Chile en Nogada - a stuffed poblano pepper with seasoned ground beef, covered in a chilled almond and walnut nogada sauce, topped with pomegranate seeds and served with rice. It was rich, colorful, and very flavorful. A beautiful dish with red and yellow sauces and a white cream swirl--unfortunately I can't recall the name, but it was as good as it looked. Six tacos with assorted meats--each one was fantastic. The flavors were bold and fresh. To drink, most of us had margaritas, and you could tell they use fresh ingredients--these were excellent and not overly sweet like some places serve them. Service was top-notch from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The only disappointing part of the evening came at the end, when we learned that the restaurant will be closing in about a month. The building is being torn down, possibly for high-rise condos. The staff doesn't know if or where they'll reopen. It's a real shame, especially in an area that's already struggling with traffic and congestion. More homes, fewer gems like this. I just wish we had discovered Sin Fronteras Café sooner. Hopefully they find a new home nearby, and we'll definitely try to come back before they close for good. read more

I stopped in to get some food to go. I saw some people at a table enjoying a huge bowl of homemade guacamole and chips so that's what I ordered to go. When I got home and open up my container, I was sad to see that the quantity of guacamole I received was 1/2 of what the customers at the restaurant had. I called the restaurant and explained how I felt. I was told that to go orders do not always equal the same portion size as if you were at the restaurant. I don't agree with this because we all pay the same price, and it wasn't cheap. However, the polite gentleman told me to come back and he would give me more. I did. To go quantities and presentations should always maintain the same standards. read more

My partner and I came here for dinner on a Saturday and had a nice time! We sat in the extended dining area to the right of the entrance, and service was definitely relaxed, but the waitstaff were very friendly and welcoming. We ordered the chile con queso, which came with chorizo and was very tasty, the pollo ranchero, which was unfortunately a little lacking in flavor, and the lomo saltado, which was FABULOUS. After a long weekend of travel I needed a quiet place to relax and have a meal to de-stress, so I went to my go to cuisine and found this wonderful restaurant near my hotel. We arrived at a bit of early hour but everything was fresh. The guacamole was freshly made and will flavored, the music and l lighting was mellow, and the margarita was perfect. I love a good Chile Relleno, and I'm searching for the best in the area. While the sauce was excellent, it wasn't worth the 20-dollar price tag. It had only in Chile when most restaurants give two, and it had a small amount of cheese, and the chile lacked flavor. My rice and beans were delicious, though it didn't look like any rice and beans I'm familiar with. The stars were the Margarita and the service. Yum. Had a great Margarita - custom, just lime juice, no sour mixer....didn't have to be Patron, just good tequila. Since my first time here, tried the enchiladas- pollo, chorizo and carnitas. But I asked for 1/2 mole and 1/2 salsa verde and they accommodated.. All of it was very tasty. The mole was excellent and each enchilada was very nice flavor. Service was fast and polite. Atmosphere was nice, what I would call modern Latino versus traditional music. Got to watch the game too. Nice selection of tequila. I will be back. Parking is a bit "off." Not exactly the best area and the patrons lurking in the parking lot are also "off." BUT I absolutely adore the service here so I continue to come back. The servers are always pleasant, witty and hilarious. We went for happy hour on a day they DIDN'T provide happy hour so the server made one up for us but also had us try a few different menu items. Since the menu can be hard to understand, the servers go over everything that you must try and should try. I always love when staff enjoys taking the time to explain things to a newcomer. Sin Fronteras is a local favorite. They serve very good food and their owner is exceptionally welcoming. Our favorites dishes are Margarita Salmon and the Lamb Shank entree. They also have very good chips and salsa. The Margarita Salmon uses ingredients in unusual ways which will delight anyone who enjoys cooking and exploring food. Located in an old strip shopping center next to a liquor store. They have painted murals on the walls and outdoor seating. read more

Came here for lunch and ordered three chicken enchilada with their Mole sauce. Food came out very fast even with a crowded room. The lunch came with a side of some special rice that was very tasty. Their Mole sauce is very good! Each enchilada was packed with tender chicken. I definitely recommend this dish. They also serve chips and salsa while you wait for your meal. Great service and better food. Such a great place for a Sunday afternoon lunch with the family or for a drink and snack at the bar.

Marginal to abysmal, sometimes clueless service if you get a waitperson who doesn't communicate well. Had to ask 3 different people for a water refill, and another 2 different people for some salsa to put on my entree. What appeared to be the owner/manager was busy butterflying around asking how customers were doing at the exact wrong times. If he has the time and energy to be that micro-concerned about his customers' experience, he should be checking on customers right when their entrees are served. That would be the perfect time to make sure customers have everything they need to follow-through with enjoying their meal. I see managers making this mistake all the time, and it makes you wonder if they actually care about their customers' experience or just want you to know who the big boss is. That being said, the food is passable for east coast Mexican, which isn't saying a whole lot! Enchiladas three-ways (chicken, carnitas, steak) was solid but a poor value ($13). The chicken and carnitas were decent but not great, and the steak was over-minced and dried out like it had been sitting in a neglected heap in the corner of the flattop until it was called into service. The guacamole is all-the-money ($10), but at least the house-made tortilla chips come out warm and crispy. *Ask nicely* for habanero salsa and you will receive the house salsa with minced habanero peppers mixed into it, no extra charge. read more

Amazing Service Larger restaurant than you would think. You could bring a group of 12 up in that biz. They have a large supplementary dining room. Yes, it might be right next to a place called Parole Liquors, but trust me, it's worth a visit. I got the ropa vieja. It was good, although I think the meat could have used a little more time stewing. The plantains were cooked perfectly. The rice and beans was so so. Everything was super fresh, the portions were a great size. I would definitely visit again to try out some of their other stuff. A stones throw from the mass manufactured Annapolis Town Center, it's worth the trek off the beaten path. read more

We finally went to this place after returning to Annapolis 4 years ago. I had HUGE expectations from what I've heard and read about the place and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious but the Chili-con-queso (Cheese Nachos - or however you spell it) was the best ever!! We sat out in the bar area in the booths against the window. It was very lively and active on a Friday night. A small line formed a few times for people waiting to be seated. There is a larger room in the back with bigger tables. The bar was very crowded but the bartender (and owner) still found time to visit our table at least twice to make sure things were to our satisfaction!! Excellent service and friendly staff. We are not Latino and therefore not familiar with some of the offerings. So we have had the opportunity to experiment and expand our culinary experience here. The Mexican food is not TexMex but more like you would expect from home cooking. I like that choices include examples from many Latin American countries. On our first visit the manager introduced to their sauces by bringing us samples to try. That's the essence of customer centric service. The dishes we had were well prepared and tasty. This was one of our favorite places to dine when we lived in Annapolis. Tonight we are here again as we made the seasonal drive from our new home in Florida to our summer place at the Cape. The Chili Relleno remains my favorite tasty treat and my husband loved his Baleada. The homemade sauces are perfectly seasoned.
