Last week my wife brought me some pupusas revueltas and let me tell you they are amazing I highly recommend them

So Yelp has this new feature on the home page of the app, curated collections. I found this papusa joint with 4.5 stars under " cheap eats" 2 miles from home. It's a standalone building in the industrial side of Beltsville, on the far side of the tracks. Slightly seedy atmosphere, like a diner way off the main road. Steady stream of customers even on a Saturday afternoon. Between my 50 year old high school Spanish and pointing to the menu, I managed to place my order. The papusas are incredible, large, real corn flavor, and generously filled for a modest $2 each. The dipping sauce didn't seem to have its own flavor but enhanced anything that I baptized. Interesting slaw: room temperature, no dressing, crisp cabbage with carrot slivers and a bit herb I didn't recognize, with just a touch of hot pepper. The yuca was perfectly fried, crisp outside and creamy inside. Likewise the chunks of pork, juicy and just a little chew. Jamaica nicely balanced and complex. Sorry, Nelly's, I have a new Salvadoran local favorite. A hidden gem worth the detour. Easy five ***** for taste and value, if you don't like the atmosphere get take out. Ole! read more

I went back after a long hiatus and I'm glad I did! The service way much better now. It was a man working the place instead now, he was so kind, the food was very fresh and order was 100% accurate! I previously had a couple of issues here and was not going to give it another shot, but now I think I'll keep going from time to time. Definitely try out the plantains, these were some of the best. Authentic cuisine, great service and it seems like it may be family owned, definitely support this business. read more

Very Disappointed at this place. Terrible service and food. Ordered Pupusas and sopa de pollo. First time did a carry out at this place due to Covid and had a bad experience. Middle of no where, dirty kitchen and countertops. Probably a family own business. The women who took order barely understand the sense of urgency or how to welcome a customer. Not somewhere I'd sit and have a decent meal. The Pupusas were dried and the soup was just mostly water. The chicken was over cooked and mostly bone. I will not go back again and not worth any money spending at this place. read more

This is the best pupuseria I've been to in Beltsville! You wouldn't suspect it because its in a somewhat hidden away location, but the pupusas are delicious and a good price. I love to get the horchata with my order. My family and I come here all the time. read more

It happened as expected, they might not speak English, but their pupusas are great and the curtido to die for, this hot sauce is awesome, sopa de res needs a little work, but all in all tastes like home to me. I ordered an pupusa in beans and cheese and the order of 4 tacos for $10 with chicken. I really liked the food although the chicken was a bit dry but still good. It's a nice hole in the wall Salvadorian restaurant. I didn't see a lot of seating inside so it may not be great for huge parties. The restaurant is located around construction businesses off of Ewing Rd and Tucker Street so I believe it attracts a lot of customers for lunch. Coming from a Hispanic this was probably the worst attempt at Salvadoran food I've ever had. Horchata was awful, weird taste like it came from a jug and mixed with water. Poor service and tables were dirty. First and last time coming here. read more

I happened across this place a couple of blocks off of route 1 in Beltsville in an industrial area. I have only had the pupusas but I thought they were really good and so did my family when I brought them home. I have eaten in twice and carried out once. I've been to plenty of pupuserias (I'm salvadoreña) and they all seem to have a home-y feel but this place really impressed me. Don't come in here expecting some really well-polished restaurant, and that's not an insult. That's what makes this place so great. The workers talk to you like they've known you for years! And the food... wow. Jam-packed with SO much flavor. My pupusas really tasted traditionally made. The plátanos were fried perfectly. And my friend's vegan fajitas with rice, salad, and guacamole, was incredible. I'm from out of town but I WILL be back. read more

So this is not a review for the flavor of their food, but the service and following of COVID guidelines. I've been going there since they opened up and I have always overlooked at the lack of customer service because they seemed to be in a way oblivious that they have to provide it. But today after I place a phone order from their hot bar, I arrive 15 min later, i had to wait until the cashier acknowledged me, which didn't bother me as I'm used to their lack of customer care, but she ended up noticing me when I asked her to cover mouth and nose, she was wearing a mask that cover her chin and part of the bottom lip, she got upset and told one of the cooks to take care of me as she went to back so she wouldn't have to.deal with me. The lady that was cooking was nice and tried to put my food in the container but she most have been new because she didnt know what to put in my order, she also didn't know how to use the register which I didn't mind as she was just trying to take care of me. This is pretty sad as their food is tasty and authentic. Beware of the cashier/owner? Who disregards the safety of her fellow employees and customers. read more

My husband and I come here regularly for our pupusa fix. The food is always great and made to order. We usually get pork pupusas with cheese but have also had the loroco and plain cheese pupusas - all were great. We have not tried anything else on the menu, however. Biggest issue: There is a bit of a language barrier for those that do not speak spanish flutently. I can't call ahead for pickup because I need to be able to point out what I want on the menu, so I am often waiting there 15 minutes or so while our food is being made. Also, they sort of make up their own hours do not always observe the posted hours on the menu or on their front door. We have come by after work during the week or early Saturday evening and they are already closed. Can be a bummer when you have your sights set on something! But neither of these things are a big enough reason to keep us away. The food is worth it! read more

I so want to give them a better rating, but maybe later when they get more organized and experienced, so they open up like 2-3 weeks ago i think, and they are still making rookie mistakes, first time we ordered we wanted to try the rotisserie chicken as described in the menu, turns out they don't even have ovens for chicken, the lady at the counter suggested "carne guisada" or beef stew, which was delicious but portion was tiny, so OK made up for the lack of chicken, then 3 days later i ordered a "chorizo torta" and it described in the menu that it had OAXACA cheese, eggs, sausage, avocado, refried beans, hot peppers, mayo, lettuce and tomatoes, well when i got it 20 min later, had no cheese, no avocado, no hot peppers and no beans, so i basically got bread eggs and sausage, what a let down.... I might give them another chance in a few weeks when they get their ish together. read more
