I had been recovering from a herniated disc that also led to the discovery of mild scoliosis, which is not abnormal for older women, in particular. I took all of these issues to LSF and was rewarded with excellent knowledge and experience helping others like myself work back to a strong, flexible body. While I don't always love it, every instructor has been on me for positioning and form, which is key to not getting reinjured. As a pilates newbie, it's been helpful and I do not exaggerate when I say that I have been mostly pain-free since starting. My only struggle is with signing up for classes. Because they fill up very quickly, it is hard to budget because you need to sign up for a lot of classes in advance, which means you have to pay for a lot of classes at once. (They're certainly worth it and priced fairly.) I have had success with the waiting list, however, and there was only one time I did not get into the class. The silver lining of all this is that clearly people think highly of the classes/instructors and want to get in! I also appreciate that the owner/staff "hear" clients and try to make class policy changes that are sensible and not just penal. It's not easy running a small fitness business, so just them being there as a resource is terrific. They play great music, everyone is super friendly and down-to-earth, and the studio is cute. Fuel House was just the opposite. When I walked in, the owner immediately greeted me with a big smile and put me at ease. One of the women in class came over and introduced herself, and the instructor made a point to say hello as well. Everyone was at different levels, and mistakes were not frowned upon. It was a relaxing atmosphere where you could exercise without judgment. Also, the facility was very clean and didn't have that usual gym smell. The class rates are reasonable, so you can pay per class or join as a member. I will definitely be back, if only to be around such a welcoming crowd of women. Thank you for this positive experience.
