I'm borderline obsessed with Pure Barre. I bought the socks, a bag and a nalgene. I've started a pinterest board of poses and I just about talk about Pure Barre at any time I can fit it into conversation with friends. Maybe I'm not so borderline... maybe I've fully crossed over the line. This is an hour long workout that goes by super quick. The music is fun and upbeat. With the variety of poses they offer in each class it seems like you hold the pose long enough that your muscles are shaking uncontrollably but switch it up often enough that the hour flies by. Instructors are all different so when you find a few that their style you prefer - stick with them. Erin, Rachel and Noelle are my favorite. I attend mostly early morning classes and they seem to be the instructors for those time slots... which makes me a very happy camper at 6:15am! The classes are through an online sign up. I've not had much of a problem getting into class. Most of the time even if I'm on the waitlist I end up right in the class. I have one minor thing (which I've seen on other yelpers reviews) that I must mention... they don't have showers. So (for me) I still have to run home before going somewhere else afterwards (work, dinner, happy hour, etc). I will also mention I think this is a fabulous workout to tone, sculpt and lift (as Pure Barre says) but I believe most people will also need another aerobic workout. Although I find all my sculpting needs at Pure Barre I still need to have a good run or spin class in addition . I'd love it if Pure Barre did more with their playlists. Maybe post them on their website or facebook page? No phones are allowed in class - so I can't shazam songs I don't know but would like to buy. Really nothing but yourself, waterbottle and maybe a towel are allowed. Things you'll need to know if you have never been to class... bring socks to wear (preferably ones with grippy stuff on the bottom) and nice workout clothes. The nice workout clothes aren't necessary... but when you look around in class, you'll wonder if Lulu sponsored the whole place. As for the price - it aint cheap. Look for deals and steals online. They're hard to come by but I was able to find one that worked for me. Tuck, Tuck Hold, Tuck, Tuck Freeze.

It reminds…read moreme of Vira Yoga in SoHo, the first yoga studio I ever practiced in, which has long since closed but still sits in my memory as a certain kind of downtown wellness institution: essentialist rooms, serious teachers, and no need to announce its own taste. Thrive has a similar quality. It feels built from real experience rather than from a brand deck. Hally has clearly created this place with care and precision, and it is a gift to see a local Rittenhouse operator build something this thoughtful in Philadelphia. The studio is consistently clean, the desk team has always been professional, and the whole operation feels calm and well-held. The clientele adds a lot to the atmosphere, too. They seem like people who have been all over the world and seen the full continuum of people, places, and things, but would never tell you that; they just absorb it. I especially want to give real credit to Lisa Grunberger, one of the wisest yoga teachers I have ever encountered. My yoga journey started with Elena Brower, and Lisa reminds me of that same era of teachers: deeply wise about physiology, a lifelong student of the practice, and unusually perceptive about life. She embodies yoga in a way that feels earned, not performed. There is something very moving about watching someone age gracefully while still working hard to stay current, flexible, and fully alive in the work. Lisa's music deserves its own mention because it is extraordinary. Her class soundtracks map to an era just before music became fully digitized, when taste still had to be gathered, carried, and lived with over time. The tracks are rich, discerning, and never forced. I have had so many moments in her Friday midday class where I hear something and think, "Oh my gosh, this song is amazing" because the music is not just background; it quietly deepens the whole experience. Life and budget have shifted, so I have not been back to Thrive recently, but I know I will return when I can. Thrive has that low key, sophisticated, quietly chic feeling that never seems to be trying to sell itself. It feels more like an academy and a commune than a business, which is rare for a city studio. I admire what Hally has built here, and hope to return soon! Note: There appear to be two Yelp pages for the same business, listed as Thrive Pilates & Yoga and Thrive Pilates. I'm posting this review on both to avoid confusion.

It's a good thing they were only three of us taking the class today. It was kind of awkward for me. Least favorite class I've taken so far from class pass and I didn't feel it matched the class description well. It was branded as a high energy Bey/Nikki/RiRi HIIT class but it seemed more like barre class with hit song's playing softly in the background. I did break a good sweat though, so...Mission Accomplished! I got in a good workout but it wasn't fun or engaging so I'll try somewhere else Update: the manager reached out to me and explained that a new instructor was subbing that course and did a bikini barre class with the Bey/Nikki/RiRi soundtrack which made so much sense. She invited me back to do the actual cLass I signed up for and it was much more fun and engaging than the first class I did

I have lost 30lbs on my weight loss journey and Purenergy has been a huge part of that! For less than the cost of that massive gym in King of Prussia and way more variety than the "Citrus Concept" down the street, you can enjoy similar class offerings, free babysitting 8:30a-12pm Monday to Friday, and twice the ambiance! I find myself in Yoga a few days a week - the studio is beautiful and the mild heat is welcome in these bitterly cold winter months! I recommend Kristy's Wall class for a great deep stretch and Sarah's Power Flow for the ultimate mind/body stress relief! As part of my New Years Resolution, I am trying more of the fitness classes here, and thus far have taken Lisa's Tabata and Michelle's Burn class - both high-intensity interval training guaranteed to ramp up your energy! I did want to share some feedback about a recent class with a guest instructor. During the class, I was corrected several times in front of everyone for things that weren't related to safety. While I understand that corrections are part of learning, being singled out like that made me feel self-conscious rather than encouraged, especially since I'm still building confidence in my practice. I think it could be helpful to encourage instructors, especially guest instructors, to offer non-safety-related corrections more discreetly when possible, or to check in with students about how they prefer to receive feedback. I imagine that approach would help many people feel more comfortable and supported while they're learning. Overall, I still think this is a wonderful studio with a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. I just wanted to share my experience in the hope that it helps preserve the supportive environment that has made me enjoy coming here so much.
