I am a first timer and was really looking forward to this 6:30AM class here, however, I would later be met with a locked door and not able to attend the class. I never been to this location and the GPS guided me to the complete opposite side of the place. I called twice for help finding it and received the voicemail. If I could give zero stars, I would. This place is a joke--and Rob, the OWNER, is the punchline. I signed up for a membership after a class, thinking I was joining a supportive, professional studio. What I got instead was a shady cancellation policy, poor communication, and one of the most condescending emails I've ever received in my life--all courtesy of Rob. When I submitted a doctor's note and asked to cancel, I expected a basic level of professionalism. Instead, Rob decided to send me a passive-aggressive email lecturing me on his company's policies, defending the employee who signed me up (who clearly didn't explain the terms properly), and implying that I was somehow unfair for calling the cancellation policy "ridiculous." Spoiler alert: it is. Rob's email was less about resolving the issue and more about making sure I knew how right he thinks he is. Imagine needing medical care, asking to cancel, and getting a long-winded reply about how his employees deserve their commissions. Like, seriously? Rob, I didn't ask for a finance breakdown or a guilt trip--I asked to cancel a service. Also, don't talk to paying customers like they're dumb. That "if you were an employee here, I'd hope you'd want to be paid" line? Completely unnecessary and dripping with arrogance. You could have just said "thank you for the documentation, your cancellation is processed"--but no, you had to be petty and self-righteous. The tone, the attitude, the complete lack of empathy--Rob is a textbook example of how not to lead customer relations. I'm so glad to be done with this place. I would never recommend this studio to anyone, unless they enjoy being patronized by smug management who clearly think customers are beneath them. Take your money elsewhere. There are plenty of studios that actually care about people--not just policies and commissions. read more

I've been obsessed with Barre workouts lately and was super excited to see Pure Barre was part of ClassPass. I've heard some great things about this workout and was looking forward to the challenge. I walked into to smiling faces and a very welcoming staff. I went to a lunchtime class and it was a pretty full room. It seemed that I was probably the only new student but no worries there they were sure to help me out. We did an entire body workout from warm-up to cool down. I found myself a little lost at times not have taken the workout before but was able to catch on pretty quickly. It's amazing how such small movement can hurt oh so bad in a good way. Compared to some other Barre classes I've taken I'd say it's an intermediate barre class, it's challenging but not the toughest class I've taken. I really enjoyed the instructor and she even approached me after class to see how I liked the workout. The floors here are carpeted unlike some other studios I've been too which is comfy. So far I really like Pure Barre and hope to check out another class soon! read more

I bought a 5-class voucher from Plum District and was excited to get started. I must preface this by saying, that I am out of shape. I went into this very nervous, hoping that I wouldn't fall over from exhaustion. I didn't. This location is in the popular area of North Hills, which is a bit swanky with it's little boutiques and what have you. I really didn't pay too much attention to that but depending on the day you go to class...you will notice it. Yes, just about everyone will be wearing lululemon gear. Yes, there will be designer flip flops, purses and glasses and women with their hair done and lipstick on. Whatever floats their boats, right? It didn't bother me, I was there for a burning workout...which I got. The class moves pretty quickly, but I never felt like it moved at a pace where I could not keep up. The instructors were always available to answers questions after class and to help you with your form during class. I thought the music was just fine and even found a few songs that I wanted for my own personal playlist. I have read some reviews from the Pure Barre in Chapel Hill and I will say that as prospective new client, I was not given a tour of the studio, etc., at my first class. I guess it might depend who is at the front desk? I was thankful that another woman, who was a regular was nice enough to chat me up and answer any questions I had. The reason I did not give 5 stars is for price...175$ for an unlimited month is truly high. I did my 5 classes and then another month at 100$. I just can't see spending much more than that, even though I LOVED the classes and really felt great after them. I enjoyed the burn and the soreness after. It has been the only thing in a while that has truly kicked my butt and in a good way. So if you happen to see a voucher...I highly suggest giving it a try. The workout is amazing- do not get me wrong. What is extremely poor is their handling of new clients. I was new to Raleigh looking for a workout, and Pure Barre sounded great. I went to this location in Raleigh, and it was very unwelcoming. The class was insanely overcrowded and I didn't know what I was doing. The instructor didn't come to help me or aid me in any of the movements, so I relied on looking at other people for tips on how to maximize the workout. Everybody goes there w/ friends, it seems. So If you're going alone, it may be weird. This location doesn't do the best job at building camaraderie. That being said, the workout is amazing. The facility is so well kept and you will sweat and you'll feel the burn. If you're looking for something less crowded and a bit more friendly, check out the Pure Barre in Cary. I ended up going there for the summer because it was closer to work (although on the weekends I'd drive 20 mins to get there - but it was worth it). read more

One word, Amazing! This was a very challenging class and I honestly felt like I worked every little muscle in my body. All the moves made some portion of me shake. We did a great deal of legs and abs. If you are up for a challenge, I definitely recommend it. The instructor was so nice and helpful. She would come around and help you get in the right position or explain in more detail what you are trying to do. The nicest part was that she muted her headphone when she helped so no attention was drawn to you. read more

I really enjoy the classes at Pure Barre. I use to go to classes at a different location and overall the general vibe is the same. For my first class Alex at the front desk was helpful in showing me the ropes and the instructor Maureen made it a point to say hi to me and check-in before and after class. I appreciated those extra steps because it can be intimidating to go to a new studio for the first time. They have a water cooler, which is always a great plus to fill your water bottle up. Parking is easy right in front of the studio, it can get busy and a bit tricky to back out if you go during lunch time. Basically when you pull into the plaza just go straight back and Pure Barre will be towards the back. read more

After taking ten classes at this studio I finally am ready to leave a decent review! I've wanted to get into barre for quite awhile now, but due to cost have always put it off. Finally last month I decided to just go for it and started looking around and checking reviews for the local barre studios. As luck would have it Pure Barre in North Hills had pretty awesome reviews AND a killer Groupon (10 classes for $64) so obviously I jumped at the opportunity- and so far I really do love it! The classes are challenging but never impossible, the studio is always spotless with great equipment and the staff (including the instructors) are really top notch! The only downside to this studio is the classes end pretty early in the evening, so on week days I only have one option (the 6:35) or I miss my chance. Weekends also run very early, so you can tell they're a bit more catering to the wealthy stay at home moms and college students of the area rather than the working gal who is stuck in the office until 5:30. One other issue is the (normal) price. I was lucky to snag a Groupon and then a stellar Raise The Barre deal ($79 for one month unlimited) but starting next month this is going to be an expensive habit to keep. Other than those issues i'm a big fan and am going to desperately try to keep coming here as I really think it's helping! I've been going to Pure Barre for about a year now -- and I am a big fan. Yes, it's expensive, but it's one of the first workout plans I've been on that has worked for me and has kept me interested. They change the routines up quite a bit, so even if you go 3-4 times a week, you aren't getting burnt out. It's challenging, but fun and the instructors are very helpful. I would recommend to new people to either schedule a private session to learn the basics, or go to the Pure Barre Lite or 101 classes a few times. If you don't get it the first few classes, don't be afraid to ask questions. It took me at least a month to get used to the different movements and train my body on the technique. Once you do though, the results are amazing!! Would love to win a free year of classes -- they should consider running a promotion!! :-) read more

I stayed away from Pure Barre for a long time - not because I didn't think I'd like it but rather because I knew I would. I didn't want to pay for it because, honestly it's a little pricey. But then I gave in and went with a friend since the first class is free. Like my husband said "You're only going once? Right. The first hit of crack is always free too!" I'm picky about my workouts. I'm a marathoner who loves weight lifting and spinning class, body sculpt, yoga, you name it. But I've also had three knee surgeries, I'm in my mid-40s and I want to look good and be strong but I also want to be careful so that I can still move to do the things I need to and want to do. Another knee surgery doesn't do me any good! The first class was hard and it moves fast - I probably should have gone to the intro class but like I said, I went with a friend and it wasn't exactly my first rodeo in a fitness class. It was hard. I almost wept during the 90 second plank but I kept going. My friend asked me if I was going to hurt the next day and I said "No...I'm going to hurt in about 3 hours!" I was hooked. The classes can get crowded and book up fast so I'd suggest you use their online schedule system. I wouldn't bank on being able to walk in - you might be disappointed. Definitely take advantage of the first time client offers and the birthday discounts - it brings the cost down. Is it a Lululemon festival? Yeah but so what? The stuff is cute and they don't kick you out if you're not wearing it too! There are all sorts of outfits in there so who cares? Wear something you're comfy in and that covers you up since they request no bare midriffs. I'm sometimes a little surprised that people wear their wedding rings and make-up to class but whatever...do what works for you! I roll out of bed and never wear my rings to workout because my hands swell. I don't feel like people are "showing off" like another review said, they're just doing what they always do. There are certain teachers who are harder than others - I'm still trying to figure out why that is since the workouts are all very similar. I don't know if some make modifications but if you get the chance to take Ami's class (she's one of the owners) you won't regret it. It's a full-on butt kicking. Be sure to get some grippy socks so you don't slip on the floor and you might want to stretch out your feet. I use a Rubz ball on mine to release any tension. I've also recently started wearing padded gloves since my hands were a little stiff from the barre and the pressure that is used. I love Pure Barre and can't imagine not going!! read more

I came with a friend who showed me a little of the important stuff and insisted on the sticky socks; the teacher was super helpful, too. So happy I joined Pure Barre Raleigh in January, 2015!! It is a fantastic full body work out! My muscles are sore after every class and my body has changed so much! Let me start by saying that I love Pure Barre and own the full set of DVDs with bar at home. That being said, I can not rationalize the price for the classes at this location. Their class hours are clearly designed for the "stay at home" set as most are in the afternoon or early evening. If you work 40 + hours a week, just forget it- you can go on the weekends. But just going twice per week means that the unlimited pack at $175 per month makes little to no sense. And paying for individual classes at $24 is also way too pricey. Thus, I do the videos at home. Would love for them to extend hours such that someone with a full time job could regularly attend. And regarding other comments...yes the front desk is snotty. Yes, the instructors are elitists. And the customers...well, let's just say that it is preferred you wear you head to toe lululemon gear and diamonds to class. Also don't forget the lipstick. But again - the work out is great. Awesome staff and instructors! I have been going to this location for 4 years now and love it! Great workout. Pricey, but worth it. The instructors are welcoming, knowledgeable, tough, motivating, and positive. I used to attend the typical gyms and go to the typical classes and pay the typical memberships for a full contract, but the quality of the instructors/workouts/equipment varied greatly. Not here! I truly believe you get what you pay for. I usually purchase a package of classes (10 or 20 classes) since my schedule varies and I don't always get in enough classes to make the unlimited month worth the cost. read more

******=6 star workout Pure Barre is the best reason not to renew your gym membership. If you are looking for one of the leading fitness classes, a calorie burner and muscle toner this is the place!! The location is fantastic- right in North Hills and convenient to most anywhere. Let me start out by saying that I used to work out previously for 2 hours at a time at the gym. I would run 6 miles and then teach a spinning class. Then life got in the way and for 4 years I became caught up in work and family. I gained weight and was extremely out of shape (I was in a shape but it was mainly a round shape) I started taking Pure Barre almost a year and a half ago. I knew from the first day I was hooked. What is it? it is a combo of concentrated isometric movements that give you a targeted workout. Due to an increase in my age and my joints not able to taking the pounding of the gym- pure barre's movements gives me an amazing workout that is easy on my body. All of the trouble areas: arms/triceps, glutes, calves, thighs and abs are worked to fatigue. The class is about an hour but goes by extremely quick. There is always new music and changes with every class. The quick tempo and upbeat tunes always for you to distract yourself from the shaking of your targeted muscle group. The instructors are top notch! Kristin, Emily, Stephanie and Kim are AMAZING! During class each will make sure that your form is correct so you are getting the maximum benefit. The motivation and energy that they bring to class helps you push yourself that extra bit. You have the ability to make the workout as hard or as easy as you want. It allows for all different strength levels to "get their sweat on". I was able to see results within the first 4 weeks and have continued to tone and sculpt. Every day is challenging....for someone who comes often I have NEVER taken the same class twice. My work and family schedule is still crazy but I make time for Pure Barre. They just added more classes to the schedule and studio in Cary so it is even easier for me to find time to go. You must absolutely try Pure Barre! The girls in class are very friendly. For an hour workout I have never done anything that can beat it. (Also just an FYI they have free Pure Barre 101 classes every so often which is a great intro to the class) read more

Pure Barre has completely changed my body. It is a total body workout and hits all the areas that we often avoid working on when we just go to the gym. From the intense workout to the very knowledgable instructors and incredible music, after your first class you will be hooked. I am in town for business. I signed up for a series of 3 classes over 3 days. The third class started at 4:15pm. I arrived at 4:24 and was denied entry. My work meeting had run late, and I had just ran 0.5 miles from the Hyatt House. There are no ubers/ lyfts/taxis available in this area. I was told that it was "too risky" to allow me to do a platform class (involving nothing more than a raised platform) without prior instruction. I am a young tri- athlete and am extremely coordinated. My issue was the lack of flexibility of the front desk staff as well as arbitrary polices that are not well founded on logic. This particular Pure Barre is in a corporate district. I would not recommend visiting as an "outsider." The front desk staff could not provide a logical explanation as to why I could not join the class. Management should allow the person at the front desk to think and apply judgement. Otherwise, no point in having a human there, locking the door would be much less $$. read more
