I recently started working out again, and Pure Barre has been the perfect place to ease back into a consistent routine. The workouts are challenging in all the right ways--I'm able to get my heart rate up without getting overly sweaty, which is exactly what I was looking for. I also love the fast-paced flow of the classes; the time truly flies by. The instructors are all incredibly kind and encouraging. I would actually welcome a bit more individualized correction at times, since I'm still learning the movements and want to make sure my form is right, but overall the guidance has been great. I started taking classes here in early December and I am enjoying them very much! With a dance and Yoga background, I am finding a way to use their classes to bring me more strength and power, while being careful to avoid injuries. This review is long overdue. I've been taking classes for a few months now and I love it! I have bad knees from years of playing soccer, lower back pain and a weak core from 2 c sections. I am able to get a great workout without hurting myself(with the use of knee supports, and a back/core support). All of the staff and instructors are really sweet. I've only been taking Classic classes as I want to work up to Empower or Define, but I love how you still get variety. read more

I'm so happy I found Pure Barre - Redondo Beach! The workouts are fantastic - really get to feel the Burn/Shake. The schedule has plenty of classes to fit around our busy schedules! Different types of classes -- for all levels. My first class was with Lexi - she made me feel welcomed and valued as a customer. Good class! First time at this location, friendly staff! They are on classpass which is a huge plus for me since my schedule doesn't often allow regular visits. The location is upstairs, on the second level. The barre room is a L shape. They sell clothing, barre socks, etc. I took Sarah for the classic 50 minutes class. Sarah explains the the movement pretty well, however I'm more of a visual learner and I wish she would of demonstrate more of the moves more. I notice a lot of the clients were all looking at each to see who knew the movement she was asking us to do. Luckily I've taken pure barre and other barre classes before, so that helped me throughout the class. I wouldn't recommend Sarah as your first instructor if this is your first barre class. Pros - easy free parking, located in the same lot as Whole Foods - clean facility - water refill station available - socks available for purchase - your first class is typically free. I did take my first class by Tara last week. I really enjoyed it. I felt my legs are so shaking some points but I loved it. Tara gave us very clear instructions and also gave some corrections and encouragement too. I love her passion and energy. I had soreness next day. ;) Also front desk staff was super friendly. I love Pure Barre at both locations here in the South Bay! Every instructor I've had has been amazing. I finished my 10th class and they gave me the cutest water bottle, took a group class photo. I really like Geri as my instructor! She is very passionate when she teaches and I am always drenched in sweat by the end of each class! Highly recommend you go on Groupon first! I got it during the summer and although my classes are done I recommend if you live in the area and have the time to take a few classes a week to get the best results! My cons is that for my first class, the front desk checked me in, knowing it was my first time, and did not say anything about what I should know prior. We just sat in silence until their friend came and they chatted until the next classes started. Luckily I asked around found what I needed for the class. But the second time I went, the receptionist walked me through everything! It makes such a huge difference! Overall I think their customer service needs some work. For people who came late to class, they seemed very short with them. As well as when I had some issues with getting my classes from Groupon, they explained to me that although its not their fault, they are going to fix the issue anyway. Just those snide comments that they throw in to their members, it is just very off-putting. At the end of the day it is about the class so if you want a great workout.. Check out Geri! Took my first class with Rebecca last night. She had clear instructions and her pace was great. The class was tough but good! This kind of workout will really strengthen those muscles and keep you lean. Isometric movements are hard but it's something you can build up to. Haven't been doing barre for over a year so I'm a little rusty but hopefully with enough classes I finish the movements without feeling like I'm dying lol. Overall good workout, and I feel energized the next day not sore! read more

I don't give often bad reviews. I never had barre classes that rarely use the barre like these ones. No matter what class I took, the instructors use the barre very rarely. I can't call them barre classes. Also some exercises they are potentially dangerous for ligaments. And for me that is the worst part. I am kinda shocked about it. I have ballet background so when I see how teachers teach some wrong positions knowing they have even older people taking the class..... well..... that is bad. Also be careful about what kinda contract you sign up for. They may give you hard time to honor it . read more

I just finished up my first Pure Barre class, and, I must say, I am quite disappointed. The staff here is very friendly and nice and showed me around before the class started, and the studio is very nice and clean. However, if you are looking for a Barre class, please go somewhere else (I tried Cardio Barre and it's amazing). The class is an hour long, and we literally touched the bar for no more than 10 minutes, and for the exercises that we actually used the bar for, they could've been done without the bars. The rest of the class was a lot of core exercises on the floor. It was more of a core pilates class than a Barre class. The instructor was really nice, but she didn't pay too much attention to make sure everybody was getting the most out of their movements. I was slacking a lot on my "tucks" because I was bored. I was really looking forward to using my 2 weeks unlimited Groupon, but I really don't think I'll be going back. read more

If you have a classpass account or even a membership for this studio. Save your money and go somewhere else. They won't let you in class if you're 1 minute late! Most places give you at least 5 minutes grace period. Also, got charged for a missed class on my classpass account for being 1 minute late. Wtf! The worst barre place in South Bay. I will never be coming back to this studio. There are better barre studios in South Bay. Definitely check our other places like the Bar method or Barreworks. read more

Attempted to attend a class today at Pure Barre. First timer, had issues finding the studio and walked in a few minutes late. 5 to be exact. 2 ladies at the front told me how they couldn't allow me to join the class, through smiley faces, because I was 5 minutes late. Please, I'll take the chance of not being all stretched out (their reasoning) to take the class...thats why we sign waivers. 40 minutes of my day wasted and no workout. Plus my points from Classpass were deducted from account, yet I was not able to take the class. If I could give them negative points I would definitely do so. I started coming to Pure Barre Redondo Beach at the end of December 2019 and still at it today! Friendly staff and kick ass workouts! This is truly one of my happy places and the workouts (all three class formats: classic, empower, and reform) are challenging and fun in their own way. There are classes all throughout the day that fit your schedule- for me its the afternoon/evening and weekend classes where you'll find me. I always leave the studio feeling amazing! Can't recommend this enough and its truly the first workout that I've been able to do consistently. read more

I went for my first pure barre class and had an amazing time! I was a bit apprehensive and nervous at first since I had never done a workout class like this before but I was amazed to say the least. The instructor, Amanda, was very knowledgeable in the workout itself and in the body and muscles as well. She was able to lead the class in a very fun way, while being so helpful to myself and others in proper body alignment in order to gain the most out of the workout. I've been to my fair share of barre classes in the South Bay: Bar Method, Pop Physique, Cardio Barrie and now Pure Barre. I purchased the Groupon for the two weeks unlimited and have been to two classes so far. I'm a fan! Right from the get-go, the staff was extremely friendly. I appreciated the time both instructors took to introduce themselves, and the "tour" and rundown before class. The studio is very clean, the equipment is new, and the music is good. The shape of the room is odd, but I don't find it to be too much of a hindrance, and if anything, it spreads everyone out more so you don't feel so cramped. For those of you who have done Bar Method before, this is very similar, except far less pretentious. The workout is great, and I am seeing good results after only two classes. Looking forward to the next class! FYI: Make sure to bring socks to class, and that your water bottle has a lid on it. read more

I'm a little bit overdue on this review but wanted to share my opinion with other Yelpers debating between Bar Method and Pure Barre. I've taken both (Bar Method in Hermosa and in Long Beach) and overall my loyalty goes to Bar Method. While the people who run this studio are REALLY nice and friendly,and the studio is clean and comfortable, I just feel the Pure Barre workout is not as challenging as Bar Method's. Pure Barre is a faster-paced workout but relies less on working your muscles to fatigue and instead transitions through the moves much faster. The biggest difference I can mention though is the lack of personal attention at Pure Barre. The Bar Method instructors are incredibly attentive and great at correcting form, even the tiniest of movements, to make sure your workout is as optimal as possible. And for how much you're paying, they should be. At Pure Barre, I very rarely received any corrections, and noticed that the teachers don't pay attention to their students' form as much. This was ultimately what made me decide Pure Barre isn't worth the huge expense they're charging for their workout. If you have a choice, I recommend Bar Method - it's less expensive, more attentive and a harder, more results-driven workout. read more

I swear by pure barre and am a great advocate for many reasons; but that said, is not for everyone. You have to be comfortable pretty much doing kegel exercises upon the instructor's command in a mirrored studio/ room full of other sweaty girls (ive yet to have any males in class, and rarely anyone beyond the "real housewifey" age) all working out for that booty, thighs, abs, and arms. If this works, then pure barre is the best toning workout I have tried so far. I can't say that it is the best weight-loss workout, although it can't hurt, but the combination of ballet/ pilates that is specifically designed for lifting your butt and toning your body actually works if you keep at it at least 3x per week for about 2 months to see actual results. I hate cardio and would rather go hungry from time to time to stay skinny. So if you are on the lazy side and not the most athletic (like myself) but need to tone to fake it like you actually work out- this is as good as it gets. Mostly because the instructors are more or less all attentive/ know what they are doing, they play club/ mild edm music to make sure you dont mentally and physically slack off, and you feel ridiculous for being in there that you end up getting into this idgaf mode of just tuck, tuck, and tucking til you're shaking. And shaking is apparently indicative of your flab disappearing. read more

I just left class with Laura, and she did an amazing job! I have been taking Pure Barre for months now at Pure Barre Phoenix, and while on vacation in Manhattan Beach, I decided to try out the Pure Barre Redondo. Right when I walked in, I was great by a lovely woman named Mary Ann. We chatted for a bit, and she let me know where everything was. She was very nice and helpful, and I appreciated her friendliness. The instructor, Laura, was great! She did. Great job explaining some of the more difficult techniques, and she made sure everyone was on the same level. She was very energetic and kept up a great, positive vibe. The studio itself was very clean and tidy, and very spacious. Everything was stored accessibly, and there was no clutter at all. I only wish that they had more apparel to browse through (I'm a sucker for Wildfox). This Pure Barre was fantastic, and I encourage all yelpers in the area to give it a try. I go 5 days a week, and I have seen drastic changes in my happiness and energy level, as well as my waist line! Keep up the good work Pure Barre Redondo! read more

I am so glad I purchased the Groupon deal and found this studio! I have attended 5 classes now and love the studio, the instructors, the front desk receptionists. I love it all! The workout is great - especially when they use the double band! I wish all the classes were done with the double band!!!!! If you want to attend a class that motivates you to push yourself then this is it! Everyone in class is nice, the instructors are super friendly and don't intimidate you. When they are correcting your form they turn their microphones off so no one else can hear. The two ladies at the front desk have been nothing but nice and helpful to me. I haven't had too many instructors but Laura is my favorite because she taught my first class. I love how encouraging she is - she makes me want to do a better job and give it nothing less then 100%! The one bad thing was the schedule of the classes - it isn't the best since they don't have any early morning classes but I found out on my second class that they are adding in early morning classes for those who work! read more

I was looking for a different type of workout in addition to my pilates class. I found Pure Barre online and signed up for the Sunday morning class. The staff was very friendly, the ladies in the class were welcoming and nice and the studio was very clean. However, I thought it would be more of a barre class instead it felt more like a cardio class in a studio with a barre. Being new, I came early and the teacher/owner came over and gave me a few words about the "tuck". Ok. The house music started and we were off! My plan to watch the teacher and follow along through the class. My plan didn't work as she moved around the class and everyone had their own technique. By the time I sort of figured out the movement, the class had moved on to something different. The teacher came over a couple of times to make a correction but the music was so loud I couldn't hear her! Also there were only a couple of modifications presented throughout the class. Overall, I felt lost. I got a good workout mainly because it was a new type of workout. If you are used to this type of workout, I would recommend Pure Barre. If you are new to it, I would not recommend Pure Barre. After the class, I made a suggestion to the teacher/owner to offer a 30 minute private intro class to help new clients understand the terminology and the movements. I had an intro class at my pilates studio and it was extremely helpful in making sure I understood the movements and maintained good form. read more

Totally awesome workout. Seriously takes focus, balance and core strength. Although I'm still a newbie to barre exercises I can say that I already feel stronger and I'm standing up straighter. The studio is extremely clean and organized. The class sizes are also pretty small maybe 15 at the most allowing for ample space to spread out. I have only taken classes with Julie as the instructor and I can truly say she is a fitness professional. She is so patient and full of great tips. She has the entire routine choreographed from the lights to the music this allows for a very seamless transition between exercises. I also love her phrase "you are here to finish" every time I hear that I perk up and try harder giving it my all. Although I came here using a group 39 for two weeks unlimited classes the prices without the groupon are reasonable 24 a class or 100 a month. I believe they also run a special promotion for new members. Excellent workout - still feeling it! read more

I am no a huge fan of gyms and so forth, however I am a runner and needed more attention to my core. I read an article on Pure Barre and decided to pay $100 for unlimited class for the first month. My first class I was hooked!!! I love that when you walk in, all the girls greet you with a warm hello. The place is very clean which for me is a huge plus in my book. I attend Pure Barre 5 days a week and I only go at certain time slots. My favorite teacher thus far is Tiffany, she is very sweet and welcoming into her class and she gives you a really great work out, I also love that she has you applaud yourself for your great efforts in class, very encouraging!!!! I have only taken classes with certain teachers and the ones that I have had have all been great. I ended up loving this place so much that I decided to sign up for the year. Its a very clean studio and everyone is very kind and patience. I have taken a couple of classes at Pure Barre and I just love instructors Michelle and Laura. They make sure you are using the proper techniques during class. By the end of the class I had a good workout burn .The class was different from my usual Zumba class I usually take. Pure Barre class has allot of standing on the tip of your toes and pulsing . Tucking in your seat to tone your butt and not to mention pulling in your stomach to tone your abs. Pure Barre incorporates isometric moves to sculpt your body. I actually go to both cardio barre and Pure Barre because they work out your muscles in such different ways! Barre is challenging, but after a few weeks, you'll start to see big results. The first class I went to was great because the studio owner was there and she helped me out alot. Tiffany's Pure Barre class on Fridays at 4:45 is my fave! She's super sweet but will work your booty, legs, arms, and abs. The music she plays during class is uppity enough to keep you going. I like to end my week with this class and let my muscles rest over the weekend. Overall, the studio is clean and all the teachers are hands on to make sure you're doing the moves right. I've been going here for a couple months now semi-regularly and am so happy I discovered it. It gets easier, or at least more comfortable, the more you do it and I am no longer sore after I do it...I just feel great every time, and I think all the stretching we do after each exercise really helps to not be too sore after. I love how the instructors switch things up so you're always doing different excises, yet there are always basic warm up and cool down exercises that are consistent, so you kinda get into a routine. I should also say that I HATE exercising, and yet I love this. So anyone can do it! I've definitely noticed results as well. I feel great, I look more toned, and the only thing I hate about it is that I didn't start doing it sooner! I love it :) read more

Awesome workout! This is a great studio--clean, organized, air-conditioned (important!). Love all the instructors and front desk staff. I was brand new to barre, and the instructors gave me personal attention to correct my form and explain all of the exercises. They're really positive and motivating! I always felt energized after class. The online class sign-up is easy, but I also never had a problem getting a spot if I just walked-in. The regular-priced classes are expensive, but I got a 2-week groupon then bought the new client special ($100 for one month of unlimited classes). I'm hoping another deal will come out so I can afford to get back to the barre! read more

I love this studio. It is my favorite. The teachers are really warm, friendly, and caring. They have added gear for purchase which is really nice and trend concious. I usually just wear what I have...so I sometimes look like I just got run over by a truck, but in between my crazy schedule...I manage to make it in just in time to breath. The schedule works out for me. They offer several times during the day. I usually go early in the morning when l look like I am beating off a hangover with my face. It is pricey, but the intense, isometric holds are very challenging, and really tighten the core. Get a groupon and try it for a month. You might enjoy it. read more

A bit over six weeks postpartum after delivering my #2 baby via c-section, I was desperate. I felt like I needed to start something but I did not know what to do. I had a pretty high risk pregnancy so I stopped all kinds of workouts. So of course, I was completely out of shape by the time I delivered the baby. I ran across Pure Barre's two week groupon deal and thought to myself, this is probably pretty low impact and would be gentle to my recovering bod. As a total newbie to the barre, I had no idea what to expect when I went for my first class. Geri immediately made me feel welcomed and at ease. She said that this is not a competition and I can take it at my own pace. There were so many people who are very fit and are good at these exercises, so the key to survival is not to get discouraged! These barre classes are no joke! After the first class I was shaking and I barely made it home. But I wanted to go back. After each class, I found it easier for me to recover and I felt that I was getting more achieved at each class. I made it to a total of five classes. The groupon deal is really a steal as long as you are committed to get to as many classes as your body (and your schedule) would allow you. Too bad that I will be going back to work soon and there is no other package that meets my needs at this point... (I work in DTLA..) They do have a new mother's deal for $375/3 months of unlimited classes! I'd go for it if I wasn't going back to work. read more
