We took a class with Marina, and she was absolutely amazing. It was my fiancé's first time ever doing Pilates, and she was incredibly patient, informative, and thorough with helping him adjust his form. She made sure we both felt comfortable while still pushing us to work hard. By the end of class we were both shaking, and we woke up the next day extremely sore in the best way Marina's energy, guidance, and attention to detail made the whole experience so enjoyable. I've honestly never enjoyed working out before coming here. Now I look forward to going three days a week! I had never tried Pilates before coming here, but I was curious, and my physical therapist recommended it. After doing a lot of research, I found Aspyn Method. Since I hadn't worked out in months and have never really been into fitness, I was pretty intimidated. But they offer an introductory private session for $45, so I figured I'd give it a try. To my surprise, I had fun. This was the first time I've ever actually *wanted* to work out, and I got completely hooked! I started at the end of February going twice a week, and now it's July and I'm up to three times a week. I mainly take private classes with the studio owner Anita, and she is absolutely the best. She's incredibly knowledgeable, listens to my feedback about what I want to work on, and offers personalized guidance and modifications for my body (I'm hypermobile). I love how she challenges me at exactly the right pace. I'm always improving and still enjoying every session. She's consistently communicative and helpful, and I can tell she takes instructor training and business standards very seriously. The results speak for themselves. I feel so much better after each class and can definitely see my progress. My PT has even commented that she can tell my strength and posture have improved from doing Pilates. I have less pain and I'm getting stronger every week! Studio details: The space is very clean - I love how they thoroughly wipe down all equipment after classes. You can tell that Aspyn is run with care and professionalism. Parking is easy and convenient. There are so many things to love about this clean and cute studio located in a non-description strip mall. A few little places that need improvement, though. So it's helpful to already have a pretty good knowledge of basic Pilates before you come here. There's almost zero notes given on proper form in any of the classes, I have attended here. When I look around the room, I see many people doing things in many different ways, some of which, as an experienced practitioner, I know are not good alignment and could cause back or knee pain. Second are that could use some rethinking are the wipes. Each student has given wipes to wipe down their equipment at the end of each class. Seems seems like a lot of environmental waste. Other than that, generally, it's a pleasant place to do a not very sweaty not very intense workout on the reformer in a mid sized group. The only one bathroom, but I have never had to wait for it. Plenty of parking spots in the lot. TL/dr: enjoyable studio for group classes, with just a few areas that need improvement read more

I'm so happy I found this studio! It is a true pilates class, rather than lagree, although they have a class (abs, ass, arms) that will kick your butt if lagree is more your style. The instructor won't always be able to greet you when you come in, but they will always check in with you if they aren't familiar with you! I am a classpass member because I love mixing spin, yoga, and pilates into my routine, and ASPYN has definitely taken the pilates spot on my calendar! I had high hopes for this Pilates class, but my experience was ruined by the staff's rigidity and lack of understanding. I arrived two minutes late--yes, just TWO minutes--and was denied entry. No flexibility, no compassion, just a blanket rule enforced with zero consideration for circumstances. I've taken Pilates before and the waiver only takes one minute to sign. Anita blankly told me I was late and couldn't come in. I told her I just won't come back to the studio and she said that's fine with a smile on her face. I understand the importance of punctuality, but life happens. The way this was handled felt unnecessarily harsh and unwelcoming. If you're looking for a place that values customers and treats them with respect, this isn't it. Needless to say, I won't be returning. read more

Just finished the Zumba Strong and a Stretch class with Richelle. Not Pilates reformer but a combination of cardio, strength and stretch. Richelle is a great instructor who brings the energy! Aspyn is a fantastic Pilates studio with very caring and attentive teachers. I saw another review which was unfortunately very negative. As I was in that class I would like to offer another perspective. The person who complained had actually arrived just as class was starting. All of the reformers were full because a different instructor than the one teaching had jumped onto the empty reformer. As soon as this person arrived, Lisa had the other instructor leave to make room as she was trying to get the rest of us going. Lisa also announced that there were two new students and she would be doing extra queuing to make sure everyone was following along. She spent a good part of the class making sure both new students to the studio were on the correct spring weights and removed/added springs not just for them, but checking the rest of us as well. I'm sorry this person felt she was being shamed, but it wasn't perceived that way by others. This studio is very welcoming to all and the students are made up of all races, ages, and levels. There was nothing but the best of intents on the instructor's part. Really, you won't find a better place. read more

I've tried many pilates studios in the South Bay, and Aspyn is my favorite one. The instructors are motivating and knowledgeable, the studio is gorgeous, serene, and clean, and the price is reasonable. There is plenty of parking out front, the class sizes are small, and the clients seem very friendly to each other. The machines are well maintained and the owners have been very responsive. I've had some injuries and didn't think I would be able to do pilates, but the instructors are good at modifying the class for me. I took my first (two) classes here over the weekend and LOVED the studio. I was brave and decided to double lol - Booty Barre followed by Beginners Reformer. I've taken barre before (zero ballet experience mind you) but never Reformer. Booty Barre was SO challenging but also doable (my legs are still on fire today!) Alexandra was a great teacher - upbeat and encouraging while still paying attention to alignment and being mindful of my past injuries. Reformer can be intimidating but the class was small and Alexandra was the same instructor. Her and the other student were very sweet in helping me out haha which I totally appreciated. The studio is beautiful. Two separate rooms, and a small retail / lobby area. I can't wait to try out cardio+barre soon and I will continue to come back for reformer. Thanks Tribe.LA! read more

Really wanted to like this studio since it's so close to home but sadly I won't be going back. I found it hard to concentrate with one of the client's little dog running around the studio during class. At times he was actually in my way and I had to be careful not to step on him as switched positions. Neither dog owner or instructor seemed to notice/care. There aren't enough stars for how much I love this studio. I've always felt too intimidated to try Pilates but when Tribe.LA opened up near me, I ran out of excuses and gave it a shot. I'm so glad I did! The instructors are exceptional! They pay attention to every movement and offer gentle corrections to help your form. Classes are fun and I've never had an hour go by so quickly! They also offer yoga and barre classes. The yoga is wonderful and the mats (nice & thick) are provided for free, which makes it super easy. I'm sure the barre classes will be, too, once I try them. Their online scheduler is very easy to use. I've already gotten stronger and more confident and I have more energy. I absolutely love this studio. In the past I've tried quite a few Reformer Pilates Studios in the South Bay and have finally found my home in Tribe LA. It is by far my favorite. So far they have Reformer Pilates, Yoga, Barre and Cardio Sculpt classes at the studio. All the classes are great but my personal favorites are the Reformer Pilates so my review will concentrate on that. 1. All three instructors: Alexandra, Anita and Chelsea, are very knowledgeable, great on guiding the exercises and on providing individual corrections on an ongoing basis. All three are also quite creative so the classes never get boring. They also pretty quickly get the know your body and are great at making sure that you get the most out of your workout. 2. The equipment is Balanced Body which is high end and has many great features such as padded and easily adjustable straps, a nice wide footbar (comfortable on my feet), and a large selection of springs for a really customizable experience. 3. There is a maximum of 5 students per class so the instructors can, and do, pay quite a bit of attention to each student. 4. The studio requires grip socks, which I personally think is a very sanitary practice. 4. The class prices are very competitive (and I'm always looking for bargains) Finally, I really like the atmosphere at the studio. Everyone is friendly and make you feel very welcome. read more

My instructor Taylor was great at guiding me through my first class and making me feel good about my mistakes rather than awkward when trying something new and not getting it right the first time. I attended my first and unfortunately what would be my last class here at the Aspyn method studio. I booked a class through my classpass membership in search of new pilates studios in my area. Friday was my original class date and I ran out of gas en route to class and luckily the owner (who is so great might I add) was so gracious as to rebook me for the following day Saturday morning class. as I arrived Saturday morning to Lisa's (the instructors) class I arrived with no greeting and no eagerness to at least inquire my name upon the class start. let's keep in my this is my first time at this studio and in a reformer class but I have attended solidcore studio for the past year using a mega reformer. 5 mins into class Lisa is announcing the spring changes and I misheard so my springs are off. she says to me "didn't you hear what I said" which immediately threw me off and my energy right at the start of class. I stated to her I am new here as you know and I just didn't hear your properly. we get 10 more minute into class and this time I do hear the spring changes and adjust to an advance spring for a lower body exercise. because I am naturally strong and attend Pilates on a regular I wanted a push for myself outside of a beginners spring (in which I am allowed to do as paying customer). she changes my springs in the middle of my rep without me asking and announces to the class right after "we aren't lifting weights here people this is Pilates" as a direct shot towards me. I have never been so uncomfortable in a class that I've taken through class pass EVER. It took everything out of me to not get up and leave in the middle of class after that moment. twice she opted for the opportunity to shame me vs step up as the instructor and use those instances to help me as that what she's hired to do. I hope going forward she doesn't make the next one black woman in the class amongst a class full of white women feel as uncomfortable as I did. read more

I feel supported and encouraged here and, after injuring myself playing tennis, the knowledgeable instructors have been critical to my continual recovery. I love the classes at ASPYN. The owners and teachers all are very knowledgeable, helpful and professional. The studio is spotless. The reformers are cleaned after every use, and well maintained. I do not know the name of the lady but as I'm reading through all the reviews this establishment is definitely RUDE. I was 4 min late. I'm new to this place so yes my fault I didn't read the be 10 min early, but how dare she attempt to lock the door as I'm opening to avoid me? She stood in the doorway, gives me the dirtiest look, eyes me up and down "ugh no you're too late no!" I said okay that's fine no problem. Proceeds to tell me you're late we're more than half way through warmup...mam how the hell are you almost done with warmup in the first 4 minutes??? Like I had told her there was no problem I was walking away and wouldn't want to take a class with a rude instructor! She must've noticed her tone because she then quickly stated "sorry"... a little too late! I did not need all the extraness she added! She could've politely said sorry we don't accept tardiness..or whatever but just be a KIND person. Hope you stub your toe every day! read more

$16 for socks or $14 to cancel class. It's cheaper to cancel then to buy the socks at this studio. I just moved to the area and have been looking for a pilates studio to come to regularly. I generally do pilates 3xs per week in NYC and it's common for socks to cost $5-10 which I would have been fine paying. The manager scoffed when I told her that and replied "I don't know what type of socks they're selling". Hint: the same type of socks! I took a cardio barre class here on my Class Pass and freaking LOVED IT. Kim is a great instructor - friendly, upbeat, and constructive with form correction. The pace is fast, but the music was great and I got a great workout in for my Saturday morning! I'm already sore! The studio looks to be on the newer side but it's really cute, welcoming, and bright inside. The barre/pilates/yoga studio is in its own room and the reformers are in a section off the main lobby. Tribe.LA is such a great place to get healthy and sculpt your body. I was going to so many different places for my work outs because I know that doing a variety of exercises works best for me shaping different muscles each work out. Now, I only have to go to one place for my Barre, Yoga and Pilates! This place deserves 0 stars. I took a class with instructor Lisa and I had never had such a bad experience with an instructor. I have taken many Pilates classes before, I typically go to solid core and Lagree and was excited to try something more local to me. Lisa was very condescending to the class, kept saying there was a lot of new people which is why she had to go "slow and basic." One of the students then said "these moves are very different from other Pilates moves I have tried in the past," Lisa had the audacity to very disrespectfully say "what do you mean? This is basic Pilates so that doesn't make sense." I myself had also never tried any of the stuff she was doing, I did like the techniques she was using, but she was the problem. No instructor should make any class feel bad, nor give negative remarks throughout the class. ASPYN METHOD, please teach your instructors to have sympathy and understanding to beginners, intermediates etc, especially since we are paying for the service. Lisa already has a lot of negative comments on ClassPass, and as a company, if there is a problem, it should be addressed and resolved, or else she will continue to emotionally damage beginners.
