I'm so disappointed. I really was excited and looked forward to this since I had the appointment set up. I really wanted to like this place and become a regular. Ok so first, I bought Groupon for 3 microdermabrasion or 3 oxygen infusion treatments. Terry and I spoke on July 30th and set up a facial appointment for August 15th at 4:30 PM. I took off work at 4:00 which is an hour early from when I get off to get there in time. So I used my vacation time for this. Secondly, this place with traffic is 50 mins drive from my house. Keeping this in mind, I hope you get why I'm so upset. My appointment was at 4:30 I arrived at 4:18 which was early so I waited in my car. Finally, at 4:21 I decided to start walking in. At that time I texted and called Terry for help cause I couldn't find the entrance. Finally, I found the entrance at exactly 4:30 and it was locked. No lights were on and it was locked so I thought ok maybe she's running a little late so I wait for a few minutes and nothing. So I decided to call and text her and there was no response. So I was worried thinking something happened to her! But after waiting 15 mins past the appointment time I contacted groupon and got my refund because at that point I was just thinking ok I got scammed. Now finally, at 4:54 PM she texted me saying she was there inside the building....that's it. No apology, no call back and no explanation. That's way too unprofessional for me. That is 24 minutes after set appointment time with no apology and not even an explanation???? I paid money and spent time for this. I'm just speechless as to why this happened when I see so many good reviews. Sigh. Just be aware that this might happen to you as well. You can look at my photos for proof of time of appointment confirmed by them. You will see the times the messages I texted were sent, when she read it and when she finally responded. You will also see the call log. No lies here. read more

I just wanted to get my eyelash extension done. Guess what I got? Corneal abrasion (scratch on the eyeball) and also uneven eyelashes. She took her time doing on the right, so it looks good and presentable. Then, on my left she did it so quickly because she said "she was so late on her schedule and she has another costumer waiting for her". Totally not happy with everything. I had to pay my doctor for a check up for my eye and also had to buy antibiotic drops for it. Smh read more

I guess the owner is having a good business so she doesn't want to take any extra customers. The business phone was never picked up or answered. Text message was sent the day before, showed "Read" the next day but she even didn't bother to answer back. Picture below. Great business! Update regarding owner's response: There are many discrepancies on how you operate your business and how you responded: 1. It is not customers's fault for pointing out that you neglect on answering phone calls and texts. If you think you are not able to operate your business with being able to service your customers, then you should expect to receive the responses/complaints regarding this issue. As a business owner, you should appreciate the feedback from customers to improve your business, both positive and negative ones. 2. I never demanded your service before any existing appointments you already had and never agreed on any appointments you provided. The conversation was ended without any appointment set. 3. How did you know I would use Groupon to ask me to get the refund? My review is not the only one star one. I've read other bad reviews regarding your business and some of them had similar problem. I've had several different types of facial treatments but was VERY pleased with the microdermabrasion treatment from Terry. The location was easy to find, lots of parking in the back, and super clean facility. I was greeted right away and filled out a detailed questionnaire. Today was my first time at Terry's place. I heard about her place through LivingSocial for a Facial and Microdermabrasion. 1) Location - is kinda hard to find but its facing Katella. You can park in the back lot after you pass her place. 2) Decor - My first impression was that its clean and well kept. Warm and inviting atmosphere 3) Service - She explained what she was going to do and use on my skin. She wasn't too rough with the microderm and the extractions weren't painful 4) Massage - she also massaged me while I had the mask on. It was so relaxing, i think I dozed off! 5) Knowledge - she provided me recommendations on skincare and didn't push me to buy products, which I liked 6) Communication - great communication via text to show that she cares about the maintenance after the fact! "in love" I would be giving this place 5 stars except it's the only facial experience I've had so I have nothing to compare it to. Also, I've only gone once but have another appointment in a couple of weeks so I'll be sure to update! So yeah, I had my first facial with Terry a few weeks ago and I must say that it was a wonderful experience. I took advantage of the new client special ($39 for a 1 hour signature facial) so the price was very good. You can tell that Terry loves what she does and actually knows what she's doing. She personalizes your facial depending on your individual needs, which is awesome. She also gives a great neck and shoulder massage while your face is covered in the treatments. The best part in my opinion is that she didn't try to upsell me on anything or force me to buy the products she uses. I had been thinking about getting a chemical peel soon and she warned against it, saying the weather was too hot right now so the peel would make my skin more prone to sun spots. Love that honesty! Another spa I had called before finding Terry was suggesting a peel even after I hesitated because I was about to go on a sunny beach vacation! I definitely plan on being Terry's client as long as she's around, and I can't wait to see the long-term results on my skin! Go here, you will NOT be disappointed. Let me start this review off by saying that I am not purposely bashing this establishment for my personal benefit but rather to warn other people before they spend their money and time here. Today I was supposed to have an appointment with Christine at 3 pm to get a fill for my eyelashes. I showed up 10 minutes early and waited patiently for her to finish the person she was already doing. Another woman walked in at 3pm and said she too had an appointment with Christine at 3pm. Christine proceeded to walk out in the waiting area to inform me that she didn't have me "penciled" in at all. I then showed her the text messages that were exchanged two days prior between her and I. She still continued to tell me that she didn't have those texts and asked if I would come back the following day (Friday). I had just driven all the way from lake forest.. and all she says is if I will come back the following day? That is ridiculous. I understand how mistakes can happen but how can you look a customer in the face and tell them text messages were never exchanged when they have proof? I just don't get it. If she had at least offered to squeeze me in today or do them the following day for free for my time and troubles I would have really considered going back. Bottom line customer service should be every businesses number one priority and today's visit showed me otherwise. read more

The decor is adorable & Terry is such a warm, funny lady who made me feel really comfortable to talk with during my facial. They endorse & use Dermalogica products here & she let me go with some samples graciously, not trying to sell me, which I had expected to happen. I arrived, & was seen about 15 minutes after my appointment time, but Terry definitely didn't skimp on my facial, even if they closed at 7pm, as the facial was for a 75 minute one. The room was so relaxing, as I changed into a terry-cloth dress & laid down on the bed, covered with a blanket. Terry explained each step she did to my face & answered my questions without any irritation. I don't recall each step, but I loved my facial. I'd definitely come back again as it'd been years since I got a facial & I was looking for a new esthetician. My only negative aspect was the receptionist, Lauri. I remember calling to use the Groupon Now! and was deciding if I wanted to come in at their only & last appointment time, since I had all day. She said "you don't sound so thrilled," which threw me for a loop as I was just trying to decide on the phone for a moment. I was nervous when I got there that she'd be rude, but she wasn't at all. I have been Terry's client for almost 2 years now, after moving from the East Coast. I can say that this new clinic of hers is the best one yet! It is clean, the ambiance is so relaxing and of course, service is, as always, excellent. It is easy to set up an appointment and if the need arises, easier to cancel and reschedule (LOL). It also helps that there is free parking at the back. I highly recommend the facials (which i have tried). She uses the best skin products (Dermalogica) in my opinion. I went to Terry for a facial and back treatment. First time getting a back treatment and it was exactly as I expected - basically a facial (including extraction) for your back. She was very attentive and wanted to make sure I was enjoying myself the whole time, and she gave me lots of tips on which products to use for which purpose, etc. The facial was also very good. The extractions hurt much more than other facials I've had in the past, but that's something that's worth the pain. No complaints at all. It's a small business she runs, out of an old little strip mall so the environment and ambiance aren't the greatest, which is why I didn't give 5 stars. I found this place via Groupon. I purchased a 3 microdermabrasion package with Terry. When trying to make the first appointment, I could only reach her via text, which were delayed by hours in mid conversation. When I arrived for the first visit, I was greeted with coldness. No smile, introduction or "how are you?" as though she was burdened by my presence. She just pointed with condescension, "Sit here. Put your stuff there." Not personable AT ALL. When she started on my face, her hand movements were too quick and just plopped the treatment on my face. Overall, her aura was insensitive and the service rushed. I questioned even coming to the second appointment, but I showed up anyway. Same poor treatment again and even more rushed this second time. It was roughly 20 minutes. She was also too abrasive & quick with the tool. I had to ask her to lighten up on the pressure. I also tucked my lips inward so as not to get the face treatment on them like she did on the first visit. When she saw my lips tucked inward, she told me to relax my lips and blotted them immediately & deliberately with a "toner", knowing that I obviously didn't want anything on my lips. Very condescending when addressing my questions to that as well. I have a 3rd appointment set up that I've decided to forego. I was looking for an esthetician or a spa that is on my way home from work and found Terry's Essence of Beauty here on yelp with good reviews. So I decided to try her and she also has discounted price for new clients. My first appt with her I was very pleased. The building was not like the "spa" that I'm used to but when you go inside her office/place, it is very nice inside. Terry is very nice and accommodating. She explains everything she puts on you and what it does. Since then, I've had 2 microdermabrasion and I was satisfied both times. I plan to keep going to her from now on. She didn't even try to sell me products that are in front of her office. I've even asked her about some products she had and since I told her I just started to use this certain product, she suggested that I keep using what i'm currently using and if it's not working for me or end up not being satisfied with it, then come to her and she'll suggest another product. Which to me just shows that she's not there to keep selling me stuff. And her services are well priced as well. read more
