Went here for a show last week and decided to dine in the Retro Bar first. I ordered the Steak Frites which was an eight ounce ribeye served with steak fries. The plate looked rather plain but the fries were hot and crispy, My steak, though slightly overdone, was tender and juicy. It had a lot of flavour and I suspect was marinated for a long time beforehand. There was a serving of garlic mayo on the plate which I assume was for the fries (and that is what I used as a dip at any rate). I don't think I would come here as a dining destination, but I would eat here again if I was going to another show, simply because of the convenience and reasonable prices. read more

We were here for dinner and I have to say that everything could have been better. Service was forgetable...in terms that they forgot about us, nothing special about the restaurant in terms of being welcoming etc. Food was okay. My husband had the prime rib which was the better of the two meals. Prime rib wasn't really flavourful and the veggies were underdone. Mine was the beef dip. I found it dry. Really dry. Fries were nothing special either. The prime rib was on special, and so I would say that was afordable. However for the quality i had for the sandwich it was poor value for the money. This is another one of Edmonton's casinos and this one is located along Yellowhead Trail near Costco. It is a larger casino with slot machines and table games, an entertainment stage, two restaurants and a small bar area. There is a high limit table game area, a poker room and high limit slots. It's a great place for fun, gambling and eating. The main parking lot is big but on a busy weekend, you will probably need to go to the overflow parking lot which is just east of the main parking lot. In the summer, you will notice campers and trailers parked in this lot. There's no smoking inside the casino but they have a smoking area just outside the main doors. They offer a card called Pure so you can swipe at the kiosk every time you go there. You can accumulate points to redeem for a discount and also print off coupons for 10 percent off food. Depending on the day of the week, they have daily specials. For example, 1/2 price chicken wings on Monday. The prices are very reasonable. There is a full service restaurant or you can order off the same menu at the more casual eating area located right next to the restaurant. This small eating area has about eight tables and also serves made-to-order sandwiches and prepared desserts like pie and cake. Just next to this is what looks like a bar area. With a few tables, customers can sit and enjoy a coffee or alcoholic beverage. On the weekend, there is a section for blackjack with loud music playing and young dancers to entertain the players. This can be a bit distracting for players whether you are looking or not. There are different table limits too so make sure you check before sitting down. Usually on Friday and Saturday nights, bands will entertain you on their entertainment stage. The only thing I find is that none of the staff are very friendly. read more

Tightest slot machines in Edmonton! Have never seen anyone win big in 3 years! Never going back!

I have been here twice now for comedy shows. The first time I assumed it was a bad night and the service was terrible. Now having gone a second time. I just know that is how it operates. We seated ourselves as there was no host to seat us. I'm fine with that, but it was 20 minutes before a server even came to us to give us menus. It took a long time to get our drinks after we ordered and another long time to even get a second one. It seemed as if there were not enough servers to cover the tables. It was disappointing. The beverages were good. The nachos were a good portion as well. Just such awful service that it makes it difficult to want to spend my money there. read more

To be honest, I prefer Casino Yellowhead over all the others. I have great luck here. The food is fantastic at Retro and I highly recommend the Retro burger! It's so good. Or try the build your own noodle bowl. Broth is delicious. And you can't beat fresh mini donuts. I find all the employees are pleasant. I have no complaints when I go even if I don't win. read more

It's been a few years since I came to Yellowhead but went on a weekend afternoon recently. I remember the last time it was to volunteer and the room was nice and the food was good. This time I didn't eat here but the restaurants at the back were pretty empty. They have a large sign advertising the daily specials and the prices seemed decent. The layout is large and spacious and fairly modern unlike a smelly, old, casino. I found there were plenty of walking around and the machines weren't so close together that you feel cramped. It wasn't too busy inside so lots of selection of machines for those feeling lucky. There were 2 self serve coffee stations to keep customers awake so they can keep plugging away at the slots. The washrooms are large and clean. Too bad they don't have a venue for live entertainment as it's a nicer place than some of the other local casinos. read more

One of the last stops on my 3 week Alberta Poker Tour. Casino is older but is not run down. Bigger poker room, sort of old school. The tourney was well run and everyone involved made it a good night. Ran deep until 2:00am and cashed nicely. Was to late to play cash games. Would definitely come back if in the area again. read more

I was guest in a business party with a set dinner, held in the lounge. My expectations weren't too high, as Edmonton casinos still haven't quite shaken off the old days from when they were essentially converted warehouses in industrial parks. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the courteous, friendly staff and the nicely-presented meal served to us. The Greek beef tomato soup was very flavourful, albeit a little too salty. Unfortunately, I can't say I was able to fully enjoy my main course choice of steak and mashed potatoes, since it was served cold. The dessert was a selection of tasty pastry squares. The entertainment was appropriate, and the band knew how to get people up on to the dance floor. I would have given a full five stars for exceeding my expectations, but serving cold food is a cardinal sin in the restaurant business. read more

This place is right off the Yellow Head hwy, but it's a bit twisty getting onto the property. Just follow the signs and you'll be fine! The casino is nice and clean, relatively quiet and easy to find your way around. The staff that I encountered were extremely friendly and went out of their way to assist me. I didn't go to the restaurants, although next time I will make an effort to do so, as they looked very interesting! One minor downfall was that the ticket redemption/bill breaker machine closest to where I was sitting was out of commission, so a few times I had to locate another one. A bit of a stretch felt nice though! I did notice some maintenance happening with another bill breaker terminal, so to their credit, repairs were definitely a priority here. While I was here I did manage to win a large jackpot on a slot machine and the gentleman at the front made sure that a security guard escorted me out to me car! That was awesome. I'll be back again and make sure I check out the food scene! read more

We have been to the yellow head casino regularly over the past 6 years and had a good time. We enjoy the meals and the music in the Pearl room. We are impressed with the security measures being implemented because of the Corona Virus. We haven't noticed such measures at the other casinos. Keep up the good work. Sat in the Retro Bar. Waited patiently for 20+ minutes to be served. No one came to help. I went to the bar, and the bartender said he would be over as soon as he could. He was very friendly, and obviously very busy. I had numerous other servers walk by me and ignore me. One even cleared the last customers' glasses off my table, and didn't ask me if I had been served. I inquired about the prime rib special, but he said it just ended. Wow. If I had received service when I sat down here, I wouldn't have missed the special. I feel bad for the bartender because he is working hard and not slacking, but this place needs work. read more

So my parents told me about this great place they go to once in a while with some of their friends for good food at a good price. They decided to take me there last night for dinner. I've never been to the Yellowhead Casino and once I went in I found the place kind of depressing. I'm not sure what it was that made me think it was depressing; maybe it was the depressed look on people's faces. Anyways, we got to the restaurant part of the Casino and the hostess, who was very nice, seated us. There were some really yummy sounding items on the menu and it was really hard to pick something. My aunt had mentioned to my mom how delicious the Fish and Chips were but none of us were in the mood for it, we'll have to go back and try it when we actually are in the mood. My mom ordered the Chow Main that contained lost of vegetables, chicken, beef and shrimp. It looked really good and when my mom let me have a bite I agreed with her that is was tasty. Be careful with the red sauce that comes on the side! It's super spicy! My dad ordered the Ranch Burger with fries; he was in the mood for a good burger and he seemed happy since he ate up every crumb. I got the Crispy Chicken burger with fries and gravy. The burger was really good and I think the mozzarella cheese that came with it made it one of the best chicken burgers I've had. The gravy that I dipped my burger into (don't judge me!) moved my burger up from good to great, maybe even fantastic! I do have to say that the fries were a little disappointing. They weren't very crispy like fresh fries would be, but other wise they were okay. We found some room to stuff down some dessert. The dessert menu was a little wrong so our server told us what they had. They didn't have any of their pies; which is what my dad was in the mood for, so he just helped us consume our cakes. My mom got the Lime Coconut Cheesecake, I didn't like it because it had actual slices of coconut and I hate coconut. But my mom really enjoyed it. I had the Chocolate Cake and it was pretty good. I think I was way too full to really enjoy it! The server was pretty nice and she was super fast. I was surprised how fast the food came out. Then again the place wasn't too busy. The service here is slow and the food is overpriced and not worth the money. They had a band playing Friday night but they were terrible. The casino doesn't turn off the house music so in one area the band is competing with whatever is playing over the sound system which just creates a lot of noise and sounds like crap. As far as casinos go, giving it 2 stars was generous! read more

Everytime we've come to Edmonton it has been good but that was one of the worse services we've ever received. Tournament play is ridiculous. Acted out of turn because I didn't see the other players hand which was covered. Penalty was two hands in a $200 tourney. Second time I looked at my hand and because another player saw it it was co side red flashing. Lost an entire orbit of the button of play at 5th and 6th blind level. When it comes to casinos in Edmonton, Casino Yellowhead is one of the nicer more well maintained properties. I like the food that they offer in their cafe/restaurant and the setup for volunteers is really quite nice comparatively speaking. I haven't yet gambled in this particular casino but I've gone here to eat over the years and definitely eat here while volunteering a casino for a particular organization or another. This facility is great, has ample parking and has renovated and improved certain aspects over the years. That said the nearest bus stop is a considerable jaunt away which is less than convenient if you do not want to drive or take a taxi (Etc.). read more

It has been years since I've been to Yellowhead casino, I was really shocked and disappointed at how it has changed. The last time I was there is was so busy and they were giving away a car. This time it honestly looked like it is closing down. It's quiet and there is something sad about it, the staff seem sad or depressed. They don't even give free coffee or pop while you are playing. I've eaten at the restraunt quite a bit, I've had the nachos which were really good. Half price fish and chips no complaints on either! I didn't find it overally expensive, it was a cheap night out and after you could still go and gamble without having to break the bank. Use to love dancing there but the entertainment in not what it ised to be. Absolutely disagree most of the times what the bands are. The Apex and Rivercree casino have a 100 times better entertainment then the Yellowhead. Every time we think, let's go there and it is disappointed. You hardly see the place filled with people, not like it used to be when bands like the Classis"s were playing, especially for people who love to dance. I have been a regular at the Yellowhead Casino since it was built. However I have noted the quality of the service has greatly deteriorated over the past year. Today July 26, 2014 we attended the breakfast buffet with some friends and it was absolutely the worst dinning experience a person could have. One has to prepay and we all stood there in line for ten minutes until the manager arrived to put the float into the till and start taking our payments. Then the fun really began as we waited twenty minutes for the kitchen staff to fill the scrambled egg tray and the bacon tray. Then we asked for more coffee and the waiter told us that they were out and someone was currently making more. What no coffee available at a restaurant that IS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE BUSINESS OF SERVING BREAKFAST. When we asked one of the kitchen staff who appeared to be in charge whey all the problems he stated they were short staffed.
