Attended the Blue Jays watch party (Oct 30). The food at the buffet was not good. Chicken wings, spring rolls, fries and gravy were all cold. The salad was wilted. Didn't matter if it was early in the night when the buffet just started or later when the food was replenished it was cold. read more

The buffet at The Kitchen restaurant on Sunday at breakfast is amazing. All your favs and the service is outstanding. Omelet bar is noteworthy and the attention to the food service on the buffet is great. Mostly want to give thanks to the reservation staff and reception area as having dealt with line ups and getting ppl in and seated was outstanding. The food staff cooperating with them to get everyone served and fed happily as well as supervisory staff checking out that all was well. The ambiance was never sacrificed for dealing with the crowd. This is the second time we've tried attending a concert at River Cree along with having dinner at the venue. The Italia Restaurant was a disaster. Poor under staffed service, multiple errors on our order, drinks and food didn't come on time or at the same time for each of us. Getting anyone's attention when something was needed was impossible. The waiter didn't even know what was on the menu when we asked questions or tried to order something. The concert wasn't much better. Lot's of loud drunks in the audience ruining the music, some came and stood in front of the stage blocking the views for those of us in the front rows. No security showed up or did anything. The headliner could see the problem and finally stopped the show to tell them all to sit back down. This place is poorly run and a disappointment both times we've tried it. We came here for two birthdays. Funny thing that my parents come all the time lol the staff knew my dad by name. The restaurant staff were so nice to my parents! We all got super great service. There was alot of food to choose from! Sea food, western, Asian.. something for everyone. For the price the food was good but not like great... we had a two hout spand, which is reasonable but with a big family (16) we like to mingle and drink more. I'm just a girl... literally only reviewing the craps table LOL. This is one of the only places in Edmonton to play craps. I am trying to teach myself how to play so this is my go-to. I literally don't do anything else here but try to teach myself to play craps. So basically, my experience here has been great because the dealers, pit bosses, and stickmen (or women), have been SO nice and helpful while I've been learning to play. Even though it is super fun, I don't find craps to be easy to pick up, like at all. Throughout my game they're always helping me understand the rules and bets better. I often have a lot of questions and they're very good at answering those questions for me. The first time I played it was confusing asf. Now it is not too bad. I am very thankful for all the free (I tip them of course) walk-throughs on how to play. It is straight up like having buddies that let you know what to do! I know they need to bring over two to three staff members to get this game going, and working the game seems extremely difficult. I have no clue how they keep track of everything going on, but they do it, and still find time to coach me. Lovely people! read more

Came here for my birthday and Jann Arden was playing. I had read a previous review of this venue so I was prepared to not get into any of the restaurants and have to grab a hot dog. That was a bummer but not a big deal. We played a few slot machines and had the best service from 2 lovely servers. And our drinks we great. We didn't have anything fancy just vodka and soda, but they were great! We didn't make it rich (money wise) but had a really good time in the casino and for Jann's show. The audio did seem off a few times, but it didn't spoil the show. I was happy with the seating, it was arranged really well and the chairs were comfy. I'd come back here again for a show. Only down fall is leaving the venue. It was a standstill. No one knew where to go or how to get out. read more

Edmonton and area is becoming the casino capital of the country. The River Cree gets as close as it can to the resorts in Vegas with the different types of restaurants, The Kitchen Buffet offers a different type of buffet nightly, Tap 25 is where you can catch a hockey game on one of the big screens while enjoying pub type food, and Sage if you are looking for a sophisticated dining experience. I have eaten at the buffet and was a little disappointed with the food options but the strawberry shortcake was good! Tap 25 gets busy, especially on concert nights so come early before 6PM to get a table. The food is decent and good fries too. I highly recommend getting a Players card as they have a food special for Tap 25 which gets you a decent meal for $10-$11. Even if you aren't a big gambler, River Cree has a great marketing plan to get people into the door. They offer draws on certain days with prizes that include cash, cars, and other enticing prizes. The draws are held hourly so it's easy for people to stay all evening waiting for their name to be drawn and in between spend money on gambling, eating, and drinking. If you go there more frequent, you usually have a greater chance of winning with more ballots in the draw drum. The casino offers a variety of tables with different limits. There's also many slot machines including a section for smokers. It can get busy on the weekends so the game you want to play might be taken but I'm sure you can find another. In Tap 25 they also have off track horse racing on the TVs so lots of way to gamble here. Since the place is a circle, lots of washrooms around here and clean too. They also have them in the adjoining hotel and clean and no waiting in line here. The Venue offers a place to watch bands, see comedians, and other entertainment. My review of it will be separate from this one. If you are a regular at this casino, get to know the hosts. They can provide comps when you befriend them and if they recognize you. Who doesn't like a free meal or show? Not a place that everyone will enjoy but not bad if you want to catch a game while you grab a beer, try your luck at cards, want to enjoy a good meal, or catch a show. read more

Most of the time I have to give them a 2 thumbs up for service and quality However today I must express my disappointment Our server from last week informed us that for today's crab buffet that no reservations were required. And I asked him several last week and was assured that no reservations were required After taking off my work early this Sunday to get in line for the buffet at 4pm, we were turned away because they were only seating people that had reservations. Hello. I am a 16-year-old girl. When I came to River Cree, it was good at first, but security came up to me and said I got a warning for idling. I bought chips at the shop, so I didn't see the problem. After that I went to eat with my family my auntie she bought some beer and got drunk she started babbling about something and then started screaming out of nowhere. but this usually happens so I decided to leave. But when I went to grab my stuff and left shortly, after I went outside to the shuttle, some guy followed me and told the bus driver I couldn't be on the bus for some "reason" I got off and told the guy my story and even cried. He just smiled and told me "I had to wait for the RCMP". even though I had completely nothing to do with it and I just wanted to simply go home I knew he couldn't keep me there so me and my sisters just left. and ordered an Uber. What I thought I was gonna have an excellent experience And a relaxing night for once. but even when I wanted to go home they told me I couldn't. some staff were rude. and even the security were ignorant. they even took my intoxicated auntie's side instead of me, a 16-year-old sober kid who just wanted to go home. Ps. This isn't the first time this has happened. the best way to deal with these things is to avoid them. I don't think justice was properly served to me. Zero stars, stay far, far away. I had planned on stopping in here today (March 12 @ 11:15 am). The parking lot was very full so I was forced to park very far away. I took ONE step out of my truck and fell flat on my a$$, cracking my elbow on the way down. The lot is a huge sheet of pebbly ice covered with a thin layer of snow. The casino has neglected to clear/salt/sand over half of this parking lot. I immediately went to the rewards desk to report it to someone, but there was only one person on staff as well as a line up. I walked back to the entrance and approached 2 security guards to let them know. They just looked at each other and said nothing. Neither asked if I was ok, or if I was injured. I said "that's it? It's fine?" One guy said "Oh, ok, we'll let them know." The lack of care and concern for my health following an accident on their property is appalling. I left immediately as my back & elbow are hurting and I have a headache. Disgraceful treatment of customers here. I will never return. read more

One of my favourite bites when I'm in town. A decade ago when table wait times were 1-2hr and my regular order out was pizza or anything in the pantry I was happy to discover this casino served the top grade meat, the top grade desserts and the top grade everything. Main advise get in early for the restaurant else your in a line up. When you join their membership you get free money primarily based on your demographic to use in the buffet or in the casino. I dropped the rating a star because they had a privacy breach and all I received was a notice by mail-thrilling. We attended a show on a busy Friday night. The venue is pretty good. Traffic moves quickly. There are 2 bars slinging $8.00 drinks. The washrooms are nice. After the show, we stopped for a drink at one of the few restaurants. We waited at the bar until we were paged for our table. They had Granville Island IPA on tap! We ordered nachos. Very poor neighbours. They plan outdoor events for 11pm on Sundays, with the ruckus being audible over a kilometre away despite pouring rain. I can't imagine how loud this would have been on-site. So. I was north....waaaaay up north in Edmonton. I didn't go to "you know where", but I did go to the River Cree Casino. This is where I've heard stories of the HUGE Enoch Pow Wow in August. So, I had to go to this casino to just check it out. I'm not a gambler, but a friend and I went here for lunch. So, we took a tour of the casino. It's a nice casino, and it is obviously doing brisk business. It was pretty happening and packed. The casino is fairly Las Vegas-ish, but it was also Canadian. What makes it Canadian, you ask?? HOCKEY RINK. They have a hockey rink right there in the freakin' casino! There was a pick up game going on, and hockey was definitely being played! There is a restaurant bar adjacent to the rink so one can peer through the window and see people getting body checked as they eat their shrimp scampi. read more

"All you can eat crab". What a disaster was told to show up for walk-ins at 4 o'clock, only to learn that they were only taking the reservations that were previously made on their website or through their phones. Totally sold out no access allowed for walk-ins. We were assured by servers, when we were here on Thursday, that would be able to walk in. and speaking to those in line, they said they could not make reservations or even get through on their phone. The manager that we spoke to said that we we're misinformed, and that the next three Sundays are all sold out, through reservations. It seems that the River Cree cannot get their act together because even their servers had no idea what was going on. After being told by servers to show up at 4 o'clock for a walk in management says otherwise. Waste of a travel to the River Cree. The River Cree Resort is probably the closest you can get to a Vegas style get away without leaving the city. The casino is really nice looking, very classy and has over 30 table games and tons of slot machines. The hotel is equally as nice and kept in top shape. The resort also has two NHL size ice rinks where people can go for pick up games or watch the Oilers practice every now and then. They also have a few different restaurants and lounges to choose from that all offer good food and service. The resort also hosts concerts, comedy acts and more.. Conan O'Brien is coming next week. It is really far North so it is out of the way for most locals but it is definitely a great place to visit if you are coming for vacation. read more

This is one of Edmonton's larger casinos located west of the Henday just off of the Whitemud freeway. Unless you drive or take a taxi, it may be difficult to get here. I have seen the occasional airport taxi. It is a Las Vegas style place offering a Player's Club card, weekly promotion draws, a centre bar, a concert venue and three restaurants. The hotel is beautiful and has a few banquet rooms, the lobby is large with couches and chairs and even plug-ins for your laptop. Many functions are held here, the banquets rooms can accommodate company meetings, parties and weddings and even musical concerts. The food is usually located in the hallway which does make it a bit awkward for casino patrons walking by. The Kitchen restaurant offers a nightly buffet. The selection isn't as large as one would expect and the food just tastes okay. There are different types of meat such as prime rib, bbq ribs, and seafood depending on the night. Kids are welcome here as it is located just outside the casino entrance. Tap 25 is the sports bar and serves food you would typically find in a pub. The wings are good and I really enjoy the beef dip. They also have a prime rib special for $9.99 from Sunday to Thursday, excellent deal as it comes with Yorkshire pudding and veggies. I notice that they have a large staff turnover and service is not always great. There is off track betting for horse racing in several racetracks located in Canada and the US. Sage is the more special dining restaurant offering a steak and lobster option and is only open in the evenings. This is the only casino that has a smoking section. It can be overpowering especially on the weekend. If smoke really bothers you, your experience will be less enjoyable. They only offer $5 blackjack before 7 p.m. in the non-smoking section and never in the smoking section. Most of the dealers and pit bosses are friendly. Parking can get really crazy on busy nights when there's a concert or say New Year's Eve. A new concert venue has been added to replace the old one but I haven't been there yet. The old one wasn't great as there was one way in and out and just didn't have that "concert" feel. Recently they started offering free shuttle service to Rexall Place on Oiler game nights. You need to collect your wrist band from the Player's Club and arrive 2 hours before game time. The school bus will take you there and back. This is a fun place to come to with friends, a date or just hang out to eat and try to win money! read more

We stayed here for the Foreigner concert. Great concert! Fabulous staff that work at the hotel, casino and event. The beds are very comfortable! Love that they have a Starbucks and microwave on the room. The bathroom is functional but the tub is super small as it's a standard tub. Clean and suitable for our stay. read more

Just had our reservation at The Kitchen at the River Cree and it was amazing. This was our second visit to this restaurant, and let me tell you folks, it's worth every penny. Very happy with the amazing service as well, the food was spot on. Both my wife and I enjoyed the steak, cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the desserts were delicious. Only thing I'd say, is, the lobster want perfect, little over cooked, but still tasty. We will be back again. Thanks for having us!! read more

On New Year's Eve I took my wife and son to see a show. We were minding our own business, when we started getting hassled by an extremely drunk and belligerent guy. I called over a Filipino security guard, who is completely inapt, and failed to do anything about it successfully in my mind, I told him to keep an eye on him, but then I on this gentleman because we would have more problems with them that night. He should've been removed from the facility immediately. Sure enough about 20 minutes later he came back over again being extremely drunk and belligerent hassling me and my wife, I stood up grabbed him and pushed him aside and told him to stop bothering us,Finally the chief of security got involved again I explained what was going on we just came here for a nice evening to relax I asked that he be removed he was not, she said she keep an eye on them so for the rest of the evening he was glaring at us across the table. It completely ruined a nice evening for us I really felt at the River Cree could've done more to assist us, either remove that guy or put us at a different table at the very least, I was very disappointed in the way it was handled read more

On my 3 week Alberta Poker Tour. First stop here and I need a card to sign up for the tourney. Supervisor gets a guy to go get me one and I meet him at the cash cage. That is first class service. One of the best run poker tourneys I have ever been in. Easily the best so far in Alberta. I love that they give you a personalized name slip when they break tables. UFC fight on and the whole casino is tuned in. Dealers, servers and players were all nice. Cashed in both tournies as I came back another night. The restaurant is huge, it's great that they have lots of tables, but I've found that when it's a busy night, the tables feel a little too close together, especially when there's lots of people always getting up to go for food. The Buffett usually has lots of great choices and is maintained well, the dessert selection is my personal favourite! I do enjoy coming here for dinner, but it is a little on the pricey side so I usually don't order drinks when I come here. Overall, the dining area is quite nice and well kept. From what I've seen of the casino, it looks huge! But again, I can't review that part as I've never been inside it, I'm not much of a gambler anyway. read more

We came her once with a bunch of friends a few years ago. We came for supper at the restaurant but also wandered around the casino a bit and played a few games. I'm not really into gambling so the casino wasn't my thing and I can't really give an in-depth review to the gaming side of things. The venue itself is pretty nice and a great facility. The one huge downside for me though is the smoking and poor ventilation. Anyone with allergies or lung issues is not going to like it here. It is smokey throughout and it could use much more or better ventilation. Our server, Christina, was so on top of it the whole night and took great care of us. The manager, Dean is also phenomenal and made sure every was well taken care of too. "The Venue" at River Cree brings in some great acts, and I'm a sucker for comedy shows... so sadly, I'll be back. Aside from the shows though, it is really not a great experience. I will say that the security staff are incredibly friendly. Despite the fact that they were turning us away at the door because my friend didn't realize she couldn't use her expired ID to get in. The staff were polite and we jumped back in my car to run home to grab her passport. I had purchased tickets to the Chris D'Elia show on February 6th for her birthday and we had planned on eating there before the show. By the time we drove home and back, it was 7:30 (show starts at 9). I figured it would be tight, but didn't imagine that we wouldn't be able to get a seat for dinner anywhere. I had really wanted to go to Sage, but when we walked by, they were clearly packed and we chose to just keep walking. We got to Tap 25. They had a 40 minute wait time for a table. That wouldn't be enough time so we scurried over to the buffet. No luck there - the wait was about 25 minutes (it was almost 7:50 by this point because we had to wait in line at Tap 25 to find out there was a 40 minute wait). Screw it. We noticed a "grab and go" place as we were running around, so we just grabbed some hot dogs and then headed into the venue to find our seats. The "new" venue is not much better than the old one. You follow the signs in the casino to get there, and end up walking down a loooong hallway, passed their ice rink and then OUTSIDE to get to the venue. Again, I have to commend the security staff for doing a good job of keeping every one orderly. When Chris D'Elia came on stage, one of the first things he said was that it looked and felt like he was performing in an airplane hangar. Drinks were a bit of a mess - you had to line up to buy drink tickets, and then line up again to get your drink. they were mixed well, but nowhere NEAR worth $9.00 a piece. That was ridiculous. The show was awesome... but for the price, i expected to be sitting on something better than a folding chair. And there were times when I found the sound to be quite piercing. The real nightmare came at the end of the show. WHEN THERE WAS ONLY ONE EXIT FOR 2100 PEOPLE! Are you kidding me? There were several other doors around the outside of the venue, that were NOT indicated as emergency exits only, but when people tried to use them, they ended up being turned around to come back in and wait in line with the rest of us. Also, if you have to go to the restroom during the show, you have to go back outside and then into the rink area. Oh - and another strange thing. As you walk passed the rink, there is a concession stand. MANY people assumed that that was the concession stand for the venue and stopped to get coffee or pizza, only to find out at the door that they couldn't bring it in with them. The concession staff should have been advising people of that - or at least put up a sign or something. My Yelp resolution for 2016 was to stop rambling so much in interviews and just get to the point, but clearly that didn't work so well. So.... TL:DR - You will absolutely enjoy your show. But the rest of it will be a nightmare. read more

I've been going to river cree now for the past few years. Primarily to play craps...mostly 4-5 days a week. Last week they raised their craps table from 5.00 to 10.00. They didn't bother to give me a heads up or any sort of warning. I just went one day and was told it was raised. Now, most of us "regulars " eventually play a 10.00 game but we like to start with a 5.00 game. Now our option has been taken away. Not likely going back there again. We recently had gone to River Cree for a show. The entertainment they bring in is always pretty good. We had gone to a show before there and did not have an issue. This time supper was included. YUCK YUCK YUCK. They had a potato salad,Coleslaw and some other salad they all tasted exactly the same. And lets just say it was not a good taste it all tasted like mayo. But River Cree is, by far, the closest thing to a Vegas-style Casino that you will find in Edmonton and probably Alberta. First of all, there is smoking allowed in this Casino. Half of the Casino floor is smoking and half is non-smoking. This place is always packed. I've been to the Casino for a few events and one birthday party and every time it is jam-packed with gamblers and party-goers. The drinks are expensive here, which makes it even more Vegas-like. The food is pretty good too. There are a few different venues for people who don't gamble. They have clubs, restaurants, bars, and special events going on all the time. Not a gambler, but found myself here with friends. Was it entertaining? I'd have to say yes, but maybe because I lost 50$ instead of 200$. There was a dangerous thrill in going down 200$ early and bringing yourself back to a respectable loss. I understand the concept of a gambling addiction now as I felt definite heart palpitations. Losing 200$ and I'd might never ever come back. It's a huge casino and people watching alone here would be fun particularly if you were doing a sociology or psychology thesis! Lots of characters from different shapes, sizes and ages. It's far out west and I wouldn't necessarily say it's worth it to travel that far for a night out.
