Because I hit the Starlight this past Thursday and honestly, finding a bartender who can actually keep up with my energy is like finding a flight deal to Tokyo for $400--rare, beautiful, and slightly miraculous. John is absolute chaos in the best way possible. The man was moving faster than I do when I hear "final boarding call" at the airport. I watched him handle a drink order that sounded like a chemistry dissertation while simultaneously nodding along to some guy's very loud, very wrong life story. The level of "professional hostage-taker" patience he has is truly a gift. (Tru story); At one point, I'm pretty sure he made three drinks, grabbed a fresh bowl of limes, and cracked a joke that had the whole bar wheezing, all without breaking eye contact with the shaker. If that isn't worth a massive raise, I don't know what is. Seriously, pay the man more before I decide to pack him in my suitcase and take him on my next solo trip as a personal hydration specialist. Had a great time at this casino. As someone from Las Vegas it felt like home seeing some familiar games. Buffalo took all my money until I put my last $5 into the video poker and made over $80. What a nice surprise! This place is mellow, cozy, has welcoming staff and easy to navigate around. Table games were a popular spot so we didn't get to try them but still had a great time! Starlight casino is located inside the west Edmonton mall. This casino features table games such as roulette, free bet blackjack, ultimate Texas holdem and more! They had tons of the current slot machines as well as stadium craps, sic-bo and roulette! It looks like they had a noodle house inside the casino as well that people were enjoying. I came to Starlight on recommendation of my property manager. Tonight was Indian food. I would like to say that clearly the food is Indian-ish but more Indian themed. There was only one hot bench, on one side it was salad, bread, soup and the other side is coffee dessert fruit ice cream. I've been to a few Indian buffet in Ontario and generally there are more food benches. I was disappointed with selection and food selection. There was one beef carving station. There is a multi flavour pop machine. The Nescafe machine coffee was meh. I was disappointed. Pretty disappointed. I should have visited River Cree :( :( read more

I think it's time to write an update for the casino! Since they have rebranded and renovated, it's a much better experience. The casino floor has a lot of room to move now and machines aren't too close together. There are a few bathrooms, and Player's cards machines so there are no line ups. The NOVA bar is comfortable to get a drink and sit and watch one of the TVs with the latest sports game. There's also the help yourself water station. In terms of games, there's the selection of slot machines. But they also brought back the horse racing game, which has been missing for years. It's right near the entrance but the computerized roulette has been moved by Chow and the poker room near the back. The Replay games are pretty new and there are lots of machines but not very busy. There's usually a spot to be found at the table games, unless it's right after payday and the casino gets busier. The high limit room is upstairs and I haven't been inside but I heard it's pretty nice with seating and offering of snacks. If you plan on coming here regularly, I would recommend signing up for a Player's card. You can get points for slot plays and when they have promotions, you can get 2 for 1 meals at Match or a free meal at Halley's! Chow inside the casino is decent eats too. The only food option I'm not a fan of is the buffet. Gateway promotes Starlight and their sister casino, Grand Villa, as YEGAS, and not quite Vegas but it's a lot better than it used it be and a place you can have lots of fun at! read more

If you are in the mall and have some extra money to spend, then stop in this casino. There are two floors containing slot machines, a poker room/tables, the high limit tables, blackjack, and roulette. They offer $3 and $5 blackjack tables which is nice when you just want to play for fun. On Friday and Saturday nights, they have a live band and a seating area so you can enjoy the music and some beverages. There are two restaurants in this casino, one serves chinese food and the other is upstairs called Aces Grill. We've had dinner here numerous times. It is casual and you seat yourself. They have a daily special for $10.99 which changes monthly. It is half a bbq chicken with corn fritters and mashed potatoes this month. I've had the beef dip many times and you can have fries, salad or soup as a side for $13. Many of the entrees are under $15. The restaurant is very quiet and usually more than 1/2 full when we eat here but we can always get a seat. The waitresses are very friendly and efficient. If you have the Player's Club card, you can get 10% off your bill. This casino has draws for cash and you can enter by swiping your Player's Club card although you must be present in order to win. The draws dates and times change with each promotion. There is a coat and parcel check at the Player's Club counter so you can drop off your shopping bags while you check the place out. read more

What a joke of a company, staff have gotten no response whatsoever on whether the location plans to open or not. Staff don't even know if they're still on temporary leave due to covid or if they've been terminated, regardless of countless emails sent. How unprofessional! Not bad. Palace Casino is an older casino located within the West Edmonton Mall. You must be at least 18 years of age to gamble, and all bags, aside from purses, must be left with the coat check attendant. Actually, this is an employee who works at the Player's Center. On the first floor, there are approximately 30 card and gaming tables, and slot machines of mixed denominations. Nickel and penny slots, and two restaurants are on the second floor. There were some differences as compared to other casinos i've been to that I took notice of. This is what I found: 1. You can obtain a "reserved for 10 minutes" card for your machine from the cashier's cage. 2. They have Player's Cards, but you can't insert them into the machine, and they don't earn points. Huh? 3. Chips and tickets are cashed in at different cashier's cages. 4. The drinks aren't free. If you're familiar with Las Vegas, I think you'll find that this casino is reminiscent of the gaming area in the old Fitzgerald's Hotel and Casino. Overall, a fun place to go when you want to step away from the shopping scene. read more

I am really not much of a gambler, but I came here to have a meal with a friend from out of town. West Edmonton Mall was one of the few places he knew where to find in Edmonton, so we figured Palace Casino would be easy for him to find. We had supper in one of the restaurants on site, and prices were mid-range, selection so-so, and portion size was adequate. We shared an order of fish and chips, which was really no more spectacular than I have had anywhere. For dessert we split a piece of cheesecake - it was very disappointing in that it was barely larger than a sliver. Afterwards, my friend being a casino-goer, we played some of the slots. He seemed to enjoy himself, but like I said, I am not really into this sort of thing. read more

I only go here for their Poker Tournaments on Tuesday's and Thursday's. $60 buy in and there's anywhere from 30-80 people depending on the day. No rebuys (hallelujah), start with 5000 chips, blinds start at 25/25 and go up every 15 minutes. I probably wouldn't go here if it wasn't for the tournament. There is a soup and sandwich combo every night for $5.99 and it's decent for the price. This casino's only attribute is that its conveniently in the mall. other then that I find it to be pretty run down. i much rater take the 5 minute drive out to river cree casino. It has an ok poker room but its nothing special. tables are pretty minimal and its hard to find room on busy nights. I dislike their limits as they are set at 10$ on the roulette & Black jack tables instead of river cree's 5$ limit...specially when you just wanna throw a few dollars down just to see whats going on. Palace Casino is just another way to spend your money while at West Edmonton Mall. The more I think about the mall the more I realize that it is a great stop for any tourist. Especially when our city feels extremely boring. The casino it self is fairly large and has everything a gambler could wish for. I personally don't think it's anything special but it is classy and fairly well put together. Many people come here after a day of shopping to put down a bet, some come while their family members shop and some just come for the casino. Personally, I think the best part of the casino is the bar.. not just because it's where the alcohol is readily available but because it is actually pretty nice looking. read more

West Edmonton Mall has pretty much everything so it's only fitting that a casino sits in one of its many corners. Two stories high and moderately sized, Palace Casino is mainly a slots destination with a wide variety of machines, mostly of the 5-cent variety and many with higher minimums. There are a few 2-cent machines sprinkled around the premises, two of which are the sole reasons I've been frequenting this place - STAR TREK machines, blurring the line between video game and money sucker. They've also recently put in the Rembrandt Riches machines, similar to popular DaVinci Diamonds but much sleeker, and other popular newer options include Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Monopoly, Time Traveller, and Zeus. I decided to book a private poker tournament for my buddies bachelor party. first off I haven't attended let alone planned a bachelor party ever, second I have also never played poker. But my buddy loves poker and isn't into the "traditional" bachelor party activities. I emailed every single casino in Edmonton and this was the only place that offered private function tournaments. I was in contact with Jason who runs the poker room and he was very helpful and made sure we were taken care of. Wehad to book 4 weeks in advance and could only have a maximum of 30 players at only $10 a head to reserve! I couldn't believe it was so cheap I had to keep asking as I thought I misunderstood. Jason emailed me a few days before to assure me everything was still a go and get a list of players. A few of the guys had to back out due to work but since we still had enough for 2 tables he gave me a refund for the spots I paid for that couldn't come! The room was a big space that was upstairs away from the noise of the main hall. We had a private screen that showed our time, blinds and winning pot. We were even able to choose our own buy ins for the game and prize deals! There was full waitress service throughout the whole tournament. They could have come around more often but they were also serving the rest of the casino so its understandable. The dealers were great. for myself and a few other guys having never played before they were very patient and helpful as to explaining the rules and cards. Near the end of the game a band was starting downstairs and we happened to be right above the stage so It got a little too loud that we couldn't really hear eachother when we talked which was kind of annoying. And I do have to agree with people saying the place could really use an updated facelift and the waitresses outfits were a little weird. But everything was clean and the bathrooms are all new so it didn't damper our experience at all. Overall if you're looking for a great private party venue I would highly recommend this place. even the most experienced gamblers in our party were impressed by the level of service and quality overall. Not the best casino in town, but not the worst either. The poker room is kinda run down and the blackjack table just never frees up. Just not the most inviting environment unlike other casinos. While some of the dealers here are friendly and competent, there are others that are actually rude and can barely speak english :(

I enjoy coming here because the staff seems to make it a point to remember you and your order. It's nice to have that kind of commitment from staff who see a thousand people a day easy. Also, drink specials are nice too. read more
