There's no better hockey shop in the state of Utah when it comes to getting equipment. Sticks, skates, gloves, and pads of every kind fill the walls, and jerseys, performance wear, and team merch fill the clothing racks. This store offers skate sharpening and skate ovens to help mold skates to the shape of your feet. Pure hockey has a limited selection of lacrosse and roller hockey gear as well. Even better than the products though is the customer service. I went in last week to get some bearing cleaner for my blades; Pure Hockey had just sold out, and offered to order it for me and ship it to my house for free. I needed the cleaner before Christmas, so the employee recommended me to another hockey store in the valley, a competitor, and said that they would likely have the product and that I should give them a call. It was very refreshing to see someone that cared enough about my needs as a customer that they would send me to a competitor, rather than saying, "Sorry, we can't promise that it will be delivered by Christmas." I have given this shop multiple chances, but today's comments and treatment by the manager on staff today was the last straw. It's bad enough a majority of the gear is for fitting only and you still have to order offline. Moving forward I will just start ordering online from any company that isn't pure hockey. read more

I called to tell the store I was right around the corner and the employees response was "we HAVE to close exactly on time. We have families too." He was not sympathetic when I said I had a coupon that expired that day which was why I couldn't come back a different day. Shop didn't care. Not a good way to earn business. read more

Very disappointed. This is Corporates fault!. I dropped my skates off to be sharpened, Decided to buy a couple of things. Well they have great selection and professional staff, but this is 2021 and they don't have a decent point-of-sale card reader. I came in try to pay with my phone and the guy said it works maybe half the time and it didn't work. I had to drive home to pick up my card and pay. I'm not sure why you have a brick and mortar store and not technology to help your customers. Makes me want to think I'll just buy stuff online and worry about getting my skates sharpened at the rink. I Salt Lake isn't a big market, but you would think they would try a little harder the technology looked like it was out of the 90s come on Pure Hockey! read more

Decent selection but unprofessional staff. This guy comes in who I think is the manager. He was showing off, talking loud, swearing. There were four other employees there but no one was really helpful. The manager needs to act more like a manager and keep the swearing to himself when customers are present especially kids. Believe me I swear like a sailor myself but would never do that at my place of employment and especially with customers there. read more

Decent selection, but their customer service, wow. I can't say it was anything except nonexistent. I understand being busy and overwhelmed, but when I walk in and no one acknowledges you the entire time you're in the store because they're watching a rerun of a playoff game? Not even a "hello" or "how's it going?" I'm not sure if they were having an off day, but the two employees, one of which was sharpening skates and focusing on that, but the other kid was just standing there watching TV. It wasn't even just me, it was any customer. They were only addressed when they walked up to the counter. With the service, or lack there of, we received today, I'll be sure to continue shopping online for my gear. read more

I went in to purchase skates and was greeted by the guy at the skate sharpening station. He told me it would be about ten minutes until they were able to get up to help me. It was longer than that, but the staff was very busy, and they made sure to come up and say it would be longer (he mentioned that they were short-staffed that day). I will say, once he made it up there the level of customer service made up for the wait, by far. I didn't feel rushed at all even though I knew going in what I wanted. I needed a new pair of goalie skates. I walked in, they were very helpful and made sure I was taken care of. There was a physical tag ON THE SKATE ITSELF stating it was 199.99. The tag on the wall stated they were 299.99. Excuse me for thinking the tag on the actual skate itself was the real price. Again, they were very helpful in getting them baked for me, which is when the sale tag was removed, sharpened and getting me all set to go. The only reasons I gave two stars instead of one was them being on the ball of taking care of me. It came time to check out and this is when he told me my total, I inquired about the price, to which I got oh they're ringing up at 299.99. They went to speak with the manager to hopefully work something out. In the end I was offered some free sharpenings for the fact that they messed up and had a price tag on the SKATE ITSELF that differed from what they were charging. I used to love this store, now I will be ordering online and taking all my business elsewhere. read more
