No idea where to go... at each entrance there are service stations where you may purchase your items or ask questions. I asked where to get my fishing license and the young man cheerfully gave me precise instructions. Once I arrived at customer service I was greeted warmly and in less than 5 minutes I had my license. I chose 1 year but you can choose from a good variety of options up to three years! 5 star experience... While I walked about I was asked by a floor monitor if they could assist me with anything... I asked T question and they responded kindly good people in the store. I got some Iowa beef sticks... they also had good variety of jerky... that meaty juicy type not dried. I asked AI what are the top 5 most popular lures that work best in Utah and the store had all of them. I took them, a great Nike T shirt and my beefsteak at the cashiers near the entrance, paid and bid good day. I'd shop this place again.

Sorry to do this but things are very different at Scheels than in the past…read more I spent 30 minutes in the Kuhl department and no one even offered help or bothered to say hello. (I had several questions) 10 minutes in golf department. Same story. 20 minutes in BBQ and the two guys there seemed more worried about the display looking great than offering help. I've always loved Scheels but I am very disappointed with the current lake of service or lack of. I hope things improve! (I only spent $250)

This is about the taylorsville Location…read more I am absolutely disgusted by the way I was treated at the Taylorsville store today. I stopped in with a backpack that I had purchased from another location because I found the exact same model in a color I actually wanted. I had my receipt, the backpack was in like-new condition, and I was simply trying to complete a straightforward exchange. Instead, I was told that I could not exchange the bag because of a missing accessory that the backpack never came with in the first place. After being refused service, I contacted the American Fork store where the backpack was originally purchased. They immediately informed me that there should have been no issue handling the exchange and apologized for the situation. Because the Taylorsville store refused to help, I was forced to drive nearly 40 minutes to American Fork just to complete a return that should have been handled at the location I was standing in. What should have been a five-minute transaction turned into well over an hour and a half of driving, wasted gas, and completely unnecessary inconvenience because employees at the Taylorsville store either did not understand their own policies or simply chose not to help. The behavior of the manager, who I believe was named Jennifer, only made the situation worse. From the moment I walked in, I felt judged and treated as though I had done something wrong. She repeatedly looked my girlfriend and me up and down and carried herself with an attitude that was dismissive, confrontational, and unprofessional. Rather than attempting to help resolve the issue, I was made to feel like a problem the moment I entered the store. What happened next was even more unacceptable. After making the unnecessary trip to American Fork and obtaining store credit, I returned to the Taylorsville location to purchase the backpack I originally wanted. The moment I walked through the door, I was immediately approached and questioned again. Before I could even explain why I was there, employees were discussing me over their radios. I could hear Jennifer talking about how I could not return items and questioning whether pieces were missing. At that point I felt like I was being treated as a thief, a scammer, or someone attempting to do something dishonest despite having receipts, documentation, and following every instruction that had been given to me. No customer should be made to feel attacked, singled out, or publicly scrutinized simply for trying to exchange or purchase merchandise. I felt targeted from the moment I entered the store. Based on the way I was approached, watched, questioned, and discussed over the radio, I cannot ignore the feeling that my appearance, alternative style, and skin color played a role in how I was treated. Whether intentional or not, the experience felt like profiling and discrimination rather than customer service. To make matters even worse, the store credit card issued by the American Fork location did not work. Instead of fixing the issue, I was told I would have to drive all the way back to American Fork yet again. By this point, your company's mistakes had already cost me significant time, fuel, and frustration, and now I was being told to make another unnecessary trip because nobody could resolve the problem at the Taylorsville location. I have never experienced customer service this hostile, accusatory, and unprofessional over something as simple as exchanging a backpack. What should have been a routine transaction became an exhausting ordeal that consumed hours of my day because of poor communication, poor management, and a complete lack of respect for a paying customer. I expect this incident to be investigated, I expect management to be held accountable, and I expect to be contacted regarding how your company intends to address the time, expense, and treatment I was subjected to. The second encounter was recorded.

The manager on duty said that they can't exchange it because it has been used. The Sierra website says that in the event of a defective item, contact them and they will "make it right." Evidently, at the Sierra in Riverton, "make it right" means not standing behind the products they sell or treating people fairly. I have spent hundreds of dollars at Sierra this year. They just lost a customer, all over a $13 mug. I will be sure to pass along Sierra's definition of "make it right" to as many people as possible.

I then learned that I could have gotten almost everything at half the price at another store. It was super frustrating and disappointing. Their pricing and return policy is not ideal. I don't often find myself in sporting goods stores that don't have much hiking, camping, and…read morefishing items. My knowledge of who's got the best what sort of expires when you leave the sleeping bag section in these kinds of places, so Play it Again wouldn't normally be the kind of place I spend a lot of time. So why have I been here so many times? It's all about disc golf. Disc golf (or frisbee golf, or frolf if you please) is the maddening sport of throwing frisbees in to the woods. At least that's how I play it. Normally you just throw a frisbee at a basket that's sitting impossibly far away at the park. There are a few courses in Utah and I've played at around a hundred courses nationwide. I lost a disc in a pond in Michigan, a pond in Missouri, and a fenced vineyard in Sacramento. I also left a disc at a park in Salt Lake and I'm pretty sure had another wind up in a river, although I didn't witness it. At $10-20 a pop brand new it's not exactly a fun thing to see your disc disappear into the water. So that brings me Play it Again, and specifically this location. They probably have Salt Lake's biggest selection of new and used discs for sale. Not only from Innova and Discraft, but some of the up-and-coming manufacturers as well. Color selection is so-so with only a few custom dyes, but they seem to have a decent variety of weights and plastics for each model. I've seen some pro shops with lesser selection. The biggest draw for a cheapskate like me is the used disc assortment. There are some dogs in there with your fair share of DX and comparable plastics, but you can score some nicer plastic and a few of the discs are still in newish condition. Better to drop $8-10 on a disc to try it out than $15-20 and find out you don't much like it. Then again, I'm a novice at best, so the more avid crowd may argue the opposite. They'll buy discs for a few bucks, but you'll never get rick off of it. Nasty karma and extra-wide trees follow disc golfers who find stray discs and don't call the owner, so best to return any you find to their rightful owner. Don't be a jack-knob. Do these guys carry more than disc golf stuff. Well, of course they do. Think of them as your neighborhood sporting goods store. It's a quaint space jammed with new and used stuff like exercise equipment, ski and snowboard sutff, golf essentials, and team sports gear. They're always buying used stuff and reselling, so everybody wins.
