Dr. Friedman is very knowledgeable and kind and so far my favorite. She takes time to explain and she makes me feel at ease.

Initial visit was mostly fine. I went for IUD insertion and regular checkup, and I requested the IUD insertion with ultrasound -- everything should have been and was covered by my insurance. I was given a waiver to sign for the ultrasound insertion, and I admit it's my own fault for not knowing enough about ultrasounds, as the waiver included three additional and separate ultrasounds OTHER than the one for insertion that I had signed to agree to at "the doctor's discretion." These charges came out to an appalling amount that surprised me because I was unaware, and upon researching these procedures and talking to some nurse friends, I feel they were unnecessarily done just to get money from me. I would not recommend going here for the lack of transparency and the clear objective of just getting money from patients. read more

THE WORST CLINIC FOR OBGYN IN NYC. DO NOT USE THIS SCAM CLINIC FOR ANYTHING !! My wife and I are expecting our newborn son this October, and are moving back to NY area to start our family. After having our pre natal care in the top hospitals in Hong Kong, Thailand, and France we found this one to have good reviews and we're able to schedule an appointment. On the phone they quoted is $350 for the consultation and $275 ultrasound. We accepted this and we're happy to have an appointment. During the ultrasound their TV monitor was broken, so we couldn't see anything happening with our baby, and the doctor gave basically zero input in her consultation other than, "everything looks good." The only thing we got from the doctor was trying to sell us on doing blood work, and take a vaccine, then asked us to go pay more !!! Then they wouldn't take our health insurance !!! Then after all this, they changed us an additional $275 because my wife is 40 years of age. Costing us $800 !!! for the most basic of pre natal procedures !!! Then after calling them to confirm that we pick up our report on Monday, and calling them again before we left our apartment, we arrived to the clinic and they told us that it won't be available until tomorrow !!! Overall this was the absolute WORST clinic we have ever been to. Anyone looking for OBGYN care to go elsewhere at all costs. This was an absolute nightmare of an experience and I am reporting this business to the better business AA for their scam tactics and horrible service. I went to Pure ObGyn (Flatiron) in March with pelvic pain and other related symptoms. The doctor that I saw referred me to get a pelvic MRI. I scheduled the MRI (it took at least 3 weeks to get scheduled). The day before the MRI, the MRI center called me and told me that they cancelled my appointment because they never received Prior Authorization. I called my insurance company and they told me that Pure ObGyn never put in an MRI P.A. for me; no one had. So I left Pure Obgyn. Four weeks ago, PureObgyn contacted me and asked if I was still interested in their applying for P.A. for my MRI. I said, "yes." That was the end of that. [My insurance company has no record of their ever submitting for P.A. for MRI.] I still need the MRI! Six months later, I finally got myself to a new doctor at Mt. Sinai. PROBLEM. The doctor can't put in for P.A. for my pelvic MRI without my records from PureObGyn. What a nightmare. Pure Ob/Gyn couldn't handle getting P.A. submitted for my MRI; how are they going to get my records to my new doctor AND QUICKLY? Well, I called Pure Ob/Gyn today and was told that "the person who handles this is not in." Somehow I am NOT OPTIMISTIC that they will ever get my records to my new doctor- AND PROMPTLY. I think the best route may be for me to start entirely all over and have my new doctor re-do the tests that I am trying to get from Pure Obgyn. This may be easier than hoping that Pure ObGyn will get them to her- and promptly. If it does turn out that the MRI diagnoses ovarian cancer, whenever I actually do get it, the six-month delay won't be my fault. read more

I found Dr. Sophia Wu on the United Health website not realizing that she was at a facility like Pure. I'm used to having to book appointments months in advance and was shocked when they had immediate availabilities - I guess that's the business model here. I found Sophia to be personable and easy to talk to. Pros: Easy to schedule an appointment online, over the phone, and last minute Results pushed via website Clean, pleasant facility Little wait time Cons: Felt a bit rushed They sent my prescription to the wrong pharmacy (but the pharmacy was easily able to transfer it) No follow up calls, all pushed via website They didn't really seem concerned with my medical history / didn't even ask for my records / seems a bit transactional If you're someone who is transactional and wants to get-in and get-out and doesn't want a call unless something is wrong, this is your place. In a city like NYC I think that this makes sense, but do have to wonder what it would be like if you were looking for someone to take you through pregnancy and deliver your baby - might want some more personalized service and attention. So I guess it depends on your personal needs. read more

Receptionist has terrible attitude and needs to be fired ASAP. I was having issues verifying my insurance and even had my insurance company call the office to explain. Different receptionist were calling saying different things and I had to cancel my appointment all together because in the end they could not verify my insurance which I know they take. Even with all this happening, the receptionist was still having an attitude with me and speaking over me while I was trying to explain. Terrible service. read more

I had my IUD replaced under anesthesia by Dr. Alexander Goncharov and he left a piece of gauze inside me during the procedure. I had the worst cramps of my life a few days later and made an appointment with Dr. Lina Pilshchik. She pulled a four-day-old piece of gauze out of me, which had caused an infection. Would not recommend Dr. Goncharov, other doctors/nurses at Pure OBGYN have been fine. read more

I saw Dr. Mary Earnhardt today and she was hands down the best OGBYN I have ever seen. Her attention to car and detail when talking with me was unmatched and I've never felt more comfortable. I was just diagnosed with endometriosis and I had no idea what that meant for me or my future. She was so knowledgeable about treatment options and was sure to let me know that whatever I was most comfortable with was what we will do. I will never see another OBGYN again, she is hands down the best! To top it all off, the office was so nice and clean, the staff were super friendly, and everything flowed so easily. To be in and out of a first time patient exam in 45 minutes (especially with all of the questions I had) is amazing. read more

This place is horrible. I was referred here by my GP to have a small procedure that required anesthesia. Most of the people were nice, but one I received the bill - I learned that they were double charging me for procedures. I brought this up in email and was ghosted. I followed up three times over the course of a month. In addition, the anesthesiologist was incredibly rude and frankly concerning. The issue was with the anesthesiologist. He was extremely rude and made me feel unsafe. I was told I would get to speak to the doctor one last time before going under- and when he tried to put me under before the doctor was in the room - I spoke out - he told me "oh you don't need that". As the patient in a deeply vulnerable position (aka - naked from the waist down and in stirrups), I didn't feel comfortable with a man putting me under without the female doctor in the room. He didn't listen to me and started to put me under - I did my best to stay awake until I could see the doctor. I felt really unsafe and in danger. read more

UPDATE - Over a year later, I am still experiencing issues with a bill from November 2022. I am being brought in to an issue that Pure is having with my insurance company, that I have no power over. After several ignored phone calls and emails someone finally contacted me and asked if I could help them resolve the issue by getting on a three way call...looks like thats par for the course re-reading the reviews. However they could not verify my insurance and how much it would cost until the billing people were in on Friday and if I could call then it would "be great." I call Friday and it wasn't done yet. They called me Saturday to confirm for Monday so I assumed the billing verification was done. They told me I will be told the cost on Monday (? I wanted to find out BEFORE I go is the whole point) or I can call my insurance myself to confirm. How do I give -negative stars. If you don't mind wasting your time and a facility that looses bloodwork then this is the place to go to. Came here to as a new patient to confirm if I had a miscarriage ER doctor said I should monitor my bloodwork every 48 hours to check pregnancy hormones to determine if I had a miscarriage to also make sure I do not have an ectopic pregnancy. My first appointment with them was on Tuesday 48 hours later I took off work again, came in on a Thursday only to find out that they had lost all of my bloodwork and I wouldn't be able to get my Thursday's bloodwork results till Friday, so now I've got an entire week not having any answers to whether or not I had a miscarriage. I can't help but wonder how many White patients go through this. It's just messed up. read more

I went for the first time almost 2 years ago for a simple checkup. They charged me an ADDITIONAL $84 for a condition that I do not have, according to the billing code. Back and forth emails for over a year with zero resolution. I finally paid it to keep my credit in good standing. The visit was unremarkable, and I had to pay an unwarranted bill after a year of BS. I would definitely suggest going elsewhere. The stress of this bill constantly haunting me with threats of "last notice" etc. were just too much. Communication was a joke. No explanations that made sense. They should be ashamed, but I guess we can't win, as patients. read more

I called to cancel my appointment (well in advance) and was met with an unprofessional and rude office staff member who verbally signed when I asked that she verify that my appointment had been canceled so that I would not be charged the fee. (I booked through zocdoc and according to the staff member both patient and staff had to cancel on their end just to be sure, however, I was unable to log into zocdoc and asked her if there was a way to verify that is was cancelled even if I was having trouble) After sighing they promised me that I would not be charged and that the appointment had been cancelled, however, I was still worried due to what they had told me. They rudely explained that they would go into my account later to check, to which I asked "Would it be possible to do so now as I am on the phone,just to be sure?" A short ok was followed by another sigh and them telling me it was definitely canceled. It took all of two minutes for them to check Why does an organization whose mission is to help and heal employ the opposite characteristics? Please take care of yourselves and seek care from elsewhere. Every step of the journey to feeling healthy is important, including the office staff. I have waited 3 weeks for a call back regarding my insurance verification from other offices. I gave up on these practices and I am very glad that I called Pure OBGYN. Vanessa from scheduling was timely, attentive, customer-service oriented, and made sure that all my concerns were addressed. She was able to verify my insurance and book an appointment within the same day. The availability at the practice for providers was much better than any other office that I have called. Very nice location. Easy checkin process. Very friendly staff. Great they have weekend hours. Very quick services, went in to discuss getting IUD removed, and they were able to do it immediately . I've been a patient here throughout my whole pregnancy and I've consistently been seen at least 20 minutes late for every appointment. At my 30 week check up I politely mentioned I needed to be out of here within an hour because of a work meeting I can't reschedule and was met with such attitude and was told they can't control "what they need to get done" - whatever that means. You need to figure out your appointment times then and space them out more. On top of this, the same woman who accosted me at the front desk has been incredibly rude to me at every single appointment but today was the straw that broke the camels back. Also, yesterday I experienced some spotting and called the doctor and they never called me back. Overall a horrible experience for what should be an exciting time. read more

When we tried to call back soon after (during office hours) the desk put us on hold, which eventually turned into a machine saying "we're busy, leave a message." I specifically came to Pure from another major NYC gynecology practice because they were very disorganized and rude, and I can honestly say my experience at Pure was the complete opposite of that. The entire staff and the doctor I saw was so kind and so ready to help with whatever question I had. My appointment was under an hour long and I was seen almost immediately after I arrived. Did not have a great experience with Pure, upon my first visit I was met with a nasty receptionist who seemed to be in a rush, I could let this go if this was the only issue but it wasn't. On my second visit the tech provided did not know how to use the new ultrasound machine, after about 30 minutes with this tech, another tech comes in and starts telling the other tech she is not performing the ultrasound correctly in front of me. After this the doctor came into to speak to us and was very short, again something I could let go if this was the only issue. At this visit blood was taken and the results were released the next day but I did not receive the results until a week later. I had multiple markers that were out of range and the doctor never called me. It wasn't until I called to discuss the results that the nurse said "its not clinically significant" and proceeded to tell me about an issue with my urine that was not posted on the portal for me to see and is still not posted over a week later. Still no call from the doctor to discuss anything. Also nothing was discussed with me about being newly pregnant and things I should or shouldn't be doing during pregnancy. I reached out to Chris who was very apologetic but ultimately nothing was done to ensure my experience was better in the future. I very clearly communicated what I needed from the doctors and my concerns were not taken seriously. I struggled to find an OBGYN and always put it off. I finally stumbled upon Pure. Thankfully the zocdoc appointment worked! Dr. Ho was so friendly, patient, and informative. Front desk was excellent and all support staff made me feel so comfortable and cared for. Decorations are gorgeous and comforting and the bathroom has a freaking bidet! I'm normally so stressed and nervous coming to the gyno but I am so happy I found Pure OBGYN. read more

Awful! Front desk staff was very rude and were talking negatively about a patient after that patient left and had a general negative attitude towards everyone who walked in. The nurse never introduced herself. The doctor and the ultrasound tech were very nice though. Following my appt the dr said she would give me a prescription if results were positive and if results were negative she would reach out to discuss further testng. 3 weeks since test results and I haven't heard a thing. I have tried calling, left messages / emails and not a single response. If you are looking for a kind and compassionate office, go elsewhere. Sure the doctor is nice once you are in the examination room, but everything leading up to that and after is poorly managed with a poor patient experience. read more

BEWARE. Horrible experience. I went for an appointment to adjust my birth control and they ended up performing a sonogram and billed me for two without my knowledge or consent. Because they took two different photos I somehow qualify for two sonogram charges? Makes zero sense. They will look for any way to add charges to your visit I ended up having a bill of over a thousand dollars-thank God I have insurance. This practice does not look after their patience care rather just will find anyway to over-charge for services not even needed. Never have I had a doctors office do this in my 32. Completely unethical to take advantage of patients this way. **REPLY: yes you billed my insurance over a thousand dollars please reference your charges? Are you even aware of what you are billing customers? That is concerning. that's why I said thank god I have insurance because I owe less than that. Of course I signed consent paperwork that you make everyone sign before an appointment to be seen but my point is the patients trust you to not scam them or rip them off. AGREED you ordered ONE ultrasound. So I should be billed for ONE, not TWO. It is pretty simple logic. read more

Finally had to leave because I had another appointment. They couldn't refund me that day so I had to wait a few days for my $350 cash payment back. Not awesome.
