I cannot recommend them more highly. Advice is top shelf and the prices are the same or lower than their competitors on equipment...even lower than Amazon for sumps, pumps, etc. There is also no pressure from the numerous staff, who are always available to me for my numerous questions. The showroom is immaculate--you can see the pride that they all take in keeping healthy livestock in spotless tanks. I just purchased a 150 gallon setup from them after months of careful shopping around Atlanta and online--Pure Reef has them all beat.

Love! Love! This place! It is a reefers dream! The corals are healthy, beautiful, amazing! Large selection. The marine fish are stunning. I've never been inside a store like this. It's a different league, entirely. It's worth making a trip to Atlanta! In my local area there isn't much to choose from. (1 Petco, and 1 PetSmart/ that doesn't carry anything saltwater/marine) This is like comparing costume/plastic jewelry to rare diamonds ... This is where you want your corals/marine fish to come from. (In Georgia) When their health is your primary concern. All fish appear healthy. You don't see dead fish floating around/or, fish coated in ich, over crowded tanks. This place has premium grade coral/fish. Their workers are knowledgeable! They know coral care: softies, lps, sps..., placement, light requirements, flow, compatibility, water parameters... They can help with aquascaping ideas, color patterns, designs for reef tank, etc. It's just... unbelievable! I'm thrilled I found this place! I wanted to take the whole store home! Lol But, I left with Rasta zoas (awesome!) and, a green rainbow BTA. Both, doing great

Let me begin by saying I was recommended to visit Pure Reef when I was in the market for a new fish tank. Angela and George the owners were absolutely amazing in making our new aquarium an experience we will never forget. Angela who handles all of the dry sales walked us through everything we would need and placed the order for us on a busy Sunday afternoon. We settled on a 180 with a custom cabinet that they had built for us. We live on the South Side and made the journey to pick up our new tank just a few weeks after we ordered it. There was a little delay with cabinet, but this is to be expected when you order custom furniture. Just be patient with something of this nature. If you not patient than this is not the hobby for you. George personally plumbed the stand and the tank for us. We made sure everything was good to go and they loaded up the trailer for our journey home. Angela even made sure that we made it home in one piece which, goes to show how much they care about their customers. Don't believe the negative reviews. These people are an amazing organization. I have even had to call them for help on some thing and they take the time on the phone to help.

Great local fish store for anyone near Alpharetta Milton area. They have a beautiful store with a really nice layout. There are so many corals and fish to choose from and the tanks are stunning. The staff are super helpful and friendly and are probably some of the best you could get. It is very clear that this store knows what they're doing with their saltwater tanks.

One of the cleanest aquarium store in Atlanta. Employees are super eager to help you soon as you walk in with nice greeting. They are all very knowledgeable and helpful. Price is almost same as online but few bucks more expensive. I like to support the local businesses as much as I can so no problem. Owner George and Angela are very reputable in local reef community. I find the staff friendly and knowledgeable. Purchased several fish from this store and never had any problems. Recently a blue faced angle for 250$ . Knock on wood. Been at this for about twenty years and find this group on there game. Wouldn t go anywhere else. read more

WOW is first word that came to mind when I walked into Pure Reef. New to the area I was visiting local aquarium shops and was lucky enough to stop in there. I stopped in on a Thursday late afternoon store was busy. I was greeted by a gentleman who worked there asked if I needed any help and when I let him know I was new to the area he shared a wealth of info regarding local clubs etc... he gave me a quick tour of the store. This store was immaculate display tanks incredible. Fish looked healthy. I was amazed at how reasonable their pricing was and the amount of fish, corals, and supplies they stocked. I will be making this my go to fish store when I get my 210, 150, and 55 set back up. read more

We are new to the salt water fish tank world and the guys at pure reef were so helpful and genuinely nice. They answered all our questions and weren't annoyed with our newness to this hobby. My husband and I spent a couple hundred dollars getting started at pure reef, my husband bought 2 fish from another source and they instantly started treating him differently once that happened. We were honest about buying the fish outside of pure reef and let them know we wouldn't do that again Bc our cleaner shrimp died Bc of us putting some other rock in there as well. I told my husband to brush it off and they would still treat us nicely ... As any professional business would. He has been in there a couple times since without me and said something was off, they weren't as friendly as usual. I went with him today, lee was nice and helpful , but no one else wanted anything to do with us. I asked Matt a question and he was short and not friendly like he was before. We walked out, no one said goodbye, I sat in the parking lot in shock and Matt came out to load someone's car and he didn't wave ... Just made eye contact and walked back inside. Extremely disappointing! We were totally in love with this store and how friendly they were before this. read more

As a 4+ year customer of Pure Reef I feel the need to get on here and give Jorge and Angela and the Pure Reef Staff the credit they deserve. I feel even more compelled to write a review after reading a recent review from Mark S. on 5/2/2015. My personal experience dealing with Pure Reef has been nothing but Pleasant. Being new to the saltwater world I could not be more happy that I have and continue to learn everything I need to know from the Pure Reef staff. I have certainly had my ups and downs dealing with a saltwater aquarium but there has never been a shortage of help and support from Jorge and his staff. I currently am running a 93gal corner Reef tank with both coral and fish. 90% of my coral and 100% of the fish currently in my tank came from Pure Reef. I have had my fair share of dead coral and even a few dead fish. Many times my unstable tank conditions and sometime lazy maintenance habits were the cause. As I have continued to learn the hobby and listen to the plentiful recommendations from Pure Reef I am happy to say that my tank runs and looks better than it ever has. I have been to many aquarium stores around the Atlanta/North Georgia area and I can tell you that you will NOT find a more pleasant, clean, or knowledgable store nor will you find a more helpful and professional staff. I challenge anyone to take a trip to Pure Reef and see for yourself. Let me give you a small insight on what you can expect. When you walk in the door I assure you that within a reasonable time, you will be approached by a staff member to acknowledge your presence and to see if you need help or have any questions. You will either get all the attention you need or you will be allowed to roam the store until you are ready to be helped. You are assured to be walking in the cleanest store and viewing the cleanest aquariums in the business. I have been in the store when things were slow and I have been in the store when things were extremely busy. Either way, Jorge and his staff make every effort to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Now, in response to Mark S. and his reckless review. I am not going to pretend that I have any knowledge of his experience but what I can tell you is that his supposed experience is less than the norm. From my personal experience and listening to the experiences of other customers Jorge and Angela make every effort to keep a very clean and satisfying reputation in their business. Without getting to lengthy (too late right...lol) I will say this. I will not pretend that I or any other customer has not bought an unhealthy fish or coral from one fish store or another. I will also not pretend that it is always the "Stores" fault. What sets Pure Reef apart is their willingness to work with their customers and make things right. Never have I seen or heard of a situation where Jorge or Angela have not done everything possible to rectify a bad situation regardless of fault. With this in mind whether it be Pure Reef or any other store, if you do not speak with them and give them the opportunity to help I can assure you that you will leave in a foul mood. Some people just can't be satisfied. Fact of the matter is, no business will ever have 100% happy customers but you will not find a business that tries harder than Pure Reef. Jorge Medina has been a passionate hobbyist for over 34 years. He and his wife Angela opened their first tropical fish store in 1986 and are the forces behind Pure Reef. Throughout their career, they have worked on countless projects of all sizes and complexities, including custom installations for local Atlanta celebrities and athletes. Their passion for the hobby is visible to all through their active, hands-on approach to operating the store. A group of 11 Yelpers went on Alpharetta Tours' HOWLpharetta Ghost Tour this past Thursday night…read more(9/5). Thanks to Yelp OTP intern Sarah G. for organizing (http://www.yelp.com/events/alpharetta-uye-alpharetta-food-truck-alley-and-howlpharetta-ghost-tour). We were originally scheduled to do the ghost tour on August 8, but forecasted inclement weather at the time postponed our event. The day of the originally scheduled event, I received a phone call from Alpharetta Tours informing me of the event postponement. I also received an email with a new set of tickets. The process was handled well. Tickets were $12 per person. We got a special group rate. The regular price is $15 per person. We met up with Jen Hunt, owner/operator of Alpharetta Tours, around 8:15pm in front of the Dodd Hotel in historic downtown Alpharetta. This was just around nightfall. The tour lasted about 2 hours and it was a walking tour. Bring comfortable walking shoes! Jen was a really cool tour guide. She's a history buff and you can tell she knows her stuff, especially when it comes to the City of Alpharetta. She has done her research. The HOWLpharetta Ghost Tour can kind of be thought of as two tours in one: (1) a history tour of Alpharetta and (2) a ghost tour. We learned a lot about many of the buildings in downtown Alpharetta -- what they used to be, who used to live/work in them, etc. We learned that Old Roswell St. used to be the main thoroughfare through town. We learned that Native Americans used to be shackled, transported barefoot, and buried in the surrounding area. The HOWLpharetta Ghost Tour is more of walking, educational, and historic tour more than anything else. If you're looking for a scary, haunted house experience, then you'll probably be bored. We spent a good amount of time at each stop. Jen gave us more than enough information on the history and backstory behind many of Alpharetta's historic sites and buildings. We learned about multiple prominent families in Alpharetta's history, such as the Dodds and Webbs. The tour involved a lot of walking and standing. Most of us were tired at the end, both because of the walking/standing and because it was the end of a long (week)day. We stayed within a 2-mile radius of the downtown area. Most of the walking was done on paved surfaces such as sidewalks and asphalt. However, there was one part where we were behind an old cotton mill (IIRC) and were walking in the dark on gravel. Speaking of the dark, a flashlight would prove useful, though it's not necessary. We visited many closed/empty storefronts, businesses, and houses (with permission). We also visited the nearby local cemetary, Resthaven Cemetary. I have never seen nor experienced a ghost or paranormal activity in my life, but I don't rule out the possibility of these entities existing. However, I do tend to be a skeptic. I find the whole "orbs" thing to be funny. Jen explained that if we snapped a photo and saw orbs in our photo, that the orbs represent young spirits unable to fully manifest themselves yet. I personally think these orbs are just specks of dust or other matter flying in the air or perhaps light reflecting strangely through the camera lens. I did get some nice shots of orbs. You can check out the photos I've posted with this review to see them. Jen posted one of them to the Alpharetta Tours' Facebook page and Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/alpharettatours/status/375838874297061376. Jen was also a jokester. She told a lot of corny ghost jokes. I couldn't believe how many she had in her repertoire. Before going on the tour, be sure to read the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) on Alpharetta Tours' web site. It has a lot of useful and helpful info. There are no restrooms on the tour route, so be sure to go before you start the tour. Also, you may get bitten by a mosquito or two, so you might consider putting on some insect repellent. Finally, be sure to tip your guide at the end, especially if you had fun. We had fun because of our guide and because of the company.

Our…read moreoriginally scheduled tour was postponed due to the chance of severe weather and she was so easy to work with throughout rescheduling and was very accommodating. We emailed back and forth so much that I felt like we were friends! :) First of all, she is adorable -- corny jokes and all -- and I was really impressed with her knowledge of the history of Alpharetta. She's not only been thorough in her research, but I can't believe she's memorized all of that. She's a great storyteller. As far as paranormal activity, I'm a skeptic, but I'm also easily spooked, so I thought this would be a really fun activity. Plus you get a bit of exercise walking around! I definitely saw some stuff, or at least think I did. Moving mirrors inside of buildings, flickering lights, etc. It was just the right amount of spooky. Even if you go and don't see anything, there's still lots of creepy stories to be heard! My only complaint, and this has nothing to do with the tour itself, is that there were still a fair amount of people out/cars driving by/etc. from 8:30-10:30. It might've had to do with the fact that we went on a Thursday after Alpharetta Food Truck Alley, but I would have loved a darker, quieter setting just to enhance the mood. Plan a private tour and get 10+ of your friends together (or plan a UYE like I did!) for a group discount. I'm sure the public tours are great, too, and they're every Friday and Saturday night. All are located within a 1/2-mile radius, and 2 are literally within about 200 yards of each other. Our second stop was at Barrington Hall. It is located across Hwy 120 from Bulloch Hall, a bit closer to Roswell Road. They have a small parking lot out front. Like the others, there is no fee here. We again wandered up to the house's front facade (which faces away from the parking lot towards Hwy 120) entered via the front door. The docent on duty was again friendly and just asked for our zip code and how we'd heard about the venue. You are then free to wander the house via whatever route you like. Most rooms have a sign with a 4-digit code. You call a phone number (the same one used at the other 2 houses) and enter successive codes as you proceed. For each code, there is an accompanying description of the room's historical context and of its furnishings. These mansions all seemed to follow the same basic floorplan - a central linear hallway with 2 or 3 rooms off each side and a staircase at the end. This house was a bit smaller than Bulloch Hall, but had slightly more furnishings. This home also had more of a formal garden in the back. If you only had time to tour one house of the 3, I'd still begin with Bulloch Hall. However, this place was nice to visit if you have another 30 - 45 minutes.

We scheduled with TANYA CAREW out of the Cumming Aquatic Center. Our child had 9 lessons before Tanya stopped showing up. On what was supposed to be day 10, she sent 6 kids home because the capillary refill at the heel was too slow meaning they were too cold and couldn't stay in the pool. The next day she text after our child's lesson was supposed to have started and said she was cancelling lessons because "they are having lessons today". Odd, as I know there are supposed to be lessons... my kid has one scheduled. She is double booking her time. I asked about make up lessons. No response. The very next day she no call no showed. Parents & their kids were showing up all morning and being told no one had seen the instructor. The next day of lessons, a text came in mid-morning saying she wasn't feeling well. At this point we are just getting scammed. ISR has been contacted and we requested a refund but each instructor is an independent contractor so their hands are tied. They can't do anything. TANYA CAREW finally answered us 5 days later saying ISR has a strict no refund policy and she wouldn't be refunding us. She again gave no options for rescheduling, making up lessons missed or refunding us for the time our child wasn't in the pool. She referred us to a different instructor and stated she wouldn't be paying her either so we would have to fork out another $1,000 to get our child started with them. I have heard positive feedback from other co workers and parents who put their children through ISR in Buckhead but I would steer very clear of Tanya and Cumming.

WG Aquatic is best of the ATL aquatic center options we've experienced through the past decade. Two pool areas, including competition swim/dive areas, allow for team competitions and practices. Space abounds for personal workouts and lessons as well. While you're here for water sport, take a deep breath (above water) and notice the fresh air! WG Aquatic has figured out we mostly prefer oxygen to chlorine, and their fresh air system (not the official name) works. Spacious shower/changing rooms and roomy pool decks allow you some elbow room, and the upper-deck stands give spectators a great vantage point to see their favorite swimmer shave a second off that PR. The secondary pool area is a little warmer and gives space for personal workouts while the main lanes are hosting team practices. And regardless you'll have year-round swim options here. If we didn't live in the hinterlands across the city, we'd enjoy frequenting for water adventures.

There are several playing fields for team sports. There is also a quarter mile track that encompasses one of the fields. Our most recent visit was in January, a cooler winter day. One field had a couple of guys playing soccer. Another field had a guy setting up for what looked like drills of some sort. My family and I enjoyed a stroll around the track to just get outside and move a bit. One side of the track borders the parking lot; the other borders an industrial facility of some sort. Again, not particularly scenic, but if you need a track for exercise, it certainly gets the job done! The aquatic facility is pretty impressive. We have not used it, but I have received a tour of the facility. My tour did not include the changing rooms and showers. The indoor pools looked sizeable and were not too crowded on the day of my visit. But for me, the most impressive area was the outdoor swimming area. Lots of slides and fountains and fun. Looks like a great place for a day of leisure and play. We will definitely be back to enjoy one day in the summer!

Dog friendly and great for hiking alone or in a group, I highly recommend visiting the park in the evening. Trail #1 goes under Highway 400, so does get a bit noisy. Trail #2 goes through the Hewlett Lodge Visitor Center and is a good spot to picnic and take breaks. Each trail is about 3 miles to & fro and take roughly an hour or so each to complete them. There are no restrooms in the Island Ford Unit entrance so plan accordingly if you enter from that entrance. Parking is $5/day or free with the Annual pass or America the beautiful pass. We also had the chance to tour the lodge, which was a fascinating stop. It shared the history of the site in an engaging way and offered interactive exhibits that were perfect for kids. It added an extra layer of fun and learning to our visit, making the experience even more memorable. Overall, it's a fantastic spot for hiking, family outings, and reconnecting with nature. We're already looking forward to coming back and experiencing more of the trails and activities we didn't get to this time.

Pure Reef sold me a coral that had obvious damage to the exoskeleton. I asked the manager if that damage would be an issue, he said that it would be absolutely fine. I telephoned the business within 24 hours and explained that the coral NEVER opened and that the damage that I had pointed out inside the store seems to be an issue. They told me to watch it several more days which I did. It died within 7 days and I drove it back to the store and explained the situation to the owner. The manager accosted me at the front desk and stated that the damage wasn't his problem and was very rude. When you pay much higher prices, you expect quality and you expect that the business will stand behind their product. In this case, I got neither. Pure Reef refused to issue a refund for the defective coral. There are many other local fish stores in Atlanta that stand behind their coral and have much better customer service, and they aren't as hostile. In addition, after comparing Pure Reef's prices to several other fish stores over the last several months, the business would be more adequately named "Pure Markup" rather than "Pure Reef". read more

More Aptly named Pure Markup, because they tripple and quadruple the prices of their inventory. Check with other LFS such as Marine Design or King Reef in Norcross for higher quality corals at one half the price. In addtition, Pure Markup does not stand behind the quality of their merchandise and often sells damaged goods to unsuspecting customers. read more
