It hurts my heart to say that although this place looks like it is a great place to leave your love one. It's not!!! The staff who care for your furry family member should take extremely care of your animal and observe abnormal behavior in your animal from the time they arrive. I boarded my dog here twice. Each time my husband dropped her off. The first time my husband picked her up and when she got home she was coughing, vomiting and had diarrhea. I had to take her to the emergency room. The second time, I went with him to pick her up and when we got her home she had diarrhea and couple days later she started vomiting and her stool look like it had blood in it so again we had to take her to the emergency room only this time she did not make it. My baby passed away. I call the facility and spoke with a staff member to ask about any charge in her behavior and was told that she was extremely scared and was shaking. This is a behavior change. Someone should have contacted me to say that she was not happy there and was scared for her life or shaking. I understand it take money to run a facility. Yet! The first thing the staff members should realize is that these animals are our family and if something is not right with them call the owners and let us know. If only ONE staff member would have called me, I could have gotten her out of there by having transported to the hospital and my little Bella will still be here. Please think twice before you leave your love one at this boarding facility. The staff members need more training and need to know that these animals are not just dogs, they are our family. I'm crying as I am writing this review because all it took was a phone call and my baby will still be here. read more

We boarded our dog at Pet Lodge for a week. We were horrified at his condition when we picked him up. He was obviously in distress and not at all his normal self. We were never notified of his decline. We took him to the emergency vet and he was diagnosed with phenomena secondary to kennel cough. After a week of treatment he declined and we had to return to emergency where he was admitted for 2 days for IV antibiotics and fluids. Two weeks later, he has finally recovered. Pet Lodge did refund our money for boarding and admitted they had a dog there with kennel cough, but we still have a $3500 vet bill. While we don't blame Pet Lodge for a dog contracting kennel cough (dog flu), the fact that they let him decline so far and did not seek treatment is not acceptable. We will not use this company again. read more

My bf has been taking his dog here for both day care and boarding for several months and the last time we traveled, we decided to board both his dog and mine at Pet Lodge. I had previously taken my dog to Wagalot, closer to where I live, and they require a "trial" of daycare before you are allowed to board them. Pet Lodge didn't require that which was convenient for me but also made me a bit apprehensive about the dog population. Both dogs stayed here from Thursday evening through Monday midday and it all seemed to go great. Everything we dropped off for them was returned to us and the employees were all very nice. We had them stay in a junior suite which is $45 for the first dog and $35 for the second. My bf booked his dog for additional play sessions but since mine is lazy I decided not to. They seemed well cared for when we picked them up. The only reason for four stars instead of five is because of the lack of technology. They have an online booking system which is convenient, but it's not super user friendly and I ended up still having to email them my dogs vaccination records although I had already uploaded them. Also, there are no cameras here. A lot of boarding/daycare businesses offer that as an option which gives pet owners peace of mind. It would have been nice to have that option but definitely not a deal breaker. We will definitely continue to board and daycare the doggos here in the future. read more

The moment I brought my dog "Chunk" the staff absolutely loved on him. I was sent a progress report that included photos. Courtney was very informative and helpful. Courtney updated us as we call. I feel inclined to write this review after sending my dogs here a few times in the past. I wanted the absolute best for my dogs and after seeing such a beautiful facility I felt like this would be perfect. But, after coming to the location for drop off/pick up at various times throughout the day (morning, noon, mid afternoon, early evening), I noticed something concerning - the dogs were never outside playing. Instead, they seemed to be inside most of the time (obvious by the amount of barking inside the main building). I asked a staff member if there was an indoor play area and was told no. I got a bit of a run around answer, but it seems like the dogs are only playing outside for an hour a day. I have two australian shepherds, a breed known for high energy and attachment to humans. They would come home full of energy and with their voices completely gone. The last time I dropped them off they absolutely refused to get out of the car. I realized instead of enjoying a mini vacation of their own, they were spending 90% of their time in a kennel, crying for attention. If I wanted my dogs locked up all day, I would keep them at home in their crates and send a pet sitter over. Why would Pet Lodge have invested in a stunning, multi acre facility just to keep dogs locked up? Every other boarding facility I've been to has the dogs playing outside for a majority of the day, and brings them in only for meal time, some mid-day rest, and bed. On our most recent vacation we sent them to a smaller facility and were thrilled to watch them play all day on the webcams. They came home tired out and with their voices, exactly what we wanted. They got full report cards on their behavior. Not once has the staff at PLPR made any personal comments about my dog - not even a generic "they were so cute and well behaved!" While it wasn't a sprawling, beautiful "resort" like PLPR, it's obviously a much better place for our dogs. read more

Never would I ever leave my dog here. We toured around 1p.. we pulled up to the building and in front are several fenced in play yards that look fun but they were empty. The kennels were packed full of anxious barking dogs and the smell of urine almost knocks you out. They will have up to 20 dogs in the play yard at once, definitely too many to safely supervise even with 2-3 people out there. When that many dogs are in a small yard, some get so anxious and it's a really poor experience for the dog, not to mention potentially dangerous! Please think twice and maybe find a friend or relative to watch you dog instead! read more

My family has boarded our dog here on numerous occasions until further investigations led us to believe that this is not a safe and loving environment for animals. Upon arriving, you are greeted as other reviews have previously mentioned. But it's what goes on behind closed doors that concerns us. For starters, our lab used to love water. He would swim in our pool and especially loved to run and play in hose water. After attending pet lodge's pool, he is petrified of water. When picking our lab up in the afternoons, he has been holding his pee for so long that he immediately pees the second he gets outside for an extended period of time. These are just two of the many examples of why not to choose this place when looking for a loving environment for your pet to stay. read more

Our dog stayed here for just three days, and she came back with conjunctivitis (she was not in contact with any dogs outside of this weekend stay). What worse, they never mentioned it to us. They must not pay enough attention to the dogs to notice an infection among the dogs there. That's not surprising, because they also sent not one update or note to say how she was doing, even as a first time boarder. It's very concerning to drop your pet off and not know a single thing about their day or if they're totally ignored (or have an eye infection). In addition, they charged $50 *one way* for the pet taxi to Atlanta. That's $10 extra because we're in Atlanta.. Even though they advertise themselves as "Atlanta's leader in pet care"?? They asked before drop-off if we wanted a bath - not once did they mention a cost associated with this. They tacked on $30 for this service. If you're charging $65 / night to put a dog in a room and apparently provide no pictures, no updates, let them play unattended with other dogs with conjunctivitis.. maybe you could include the bath in the pricing, huh? read more

NEVER AGAIN!!! Don't just think a "fancy looking" boarding facility in an affluent neighborhood of Milton/Alpharetta is the right place to take your pet. It was my mistake for not seeing and reading all the Poor reviews on Yelp prior to my first experience boarding our family cat here. Yes, all the staff is very friendly when you first drop off your pet. And the place looks great on the outside. But that's where it stops....and here's why. Not only did I email my full contact info, vaccination records, and very specific feeding instructions prior to dropoff, but I even printed and left paper copies of all the above at dropoff. When I arrived, the employee was completely clueless and said they didn't have/get any of it. So she re-entered everything in the computer, AND TOOK THE PHYSICAL PAPERS I LEFT. So, all good, right? Wrong,....here's why. Upon picking up our cat 7 days later, I noticed they gave me back half the canned food I brought. I knew something was wrong because our cat is BIG and a big eater and would never refuse a meal. Turns out they only fed him half the time. They gave some BS excuse that their records showed I brought more canned food than needed. Yeah right, I'm an engineer with a masters degree from Georgia Tech, so I know basic math. And again, I left very detailed specific feeding instructions ON PAPER which were in his feeding bin (next to his cage) the day of pickup, so no way the caretaker could miss it!! Guess they can't read. I saw other Yelp reviews complaining about no on site webcams. I agree.... the prices they charge warrant at least a few webcams so families can check in on their pets. For me specifically, I very kindly asked on my paperwork to take a couple photos of our cat Casper and send to us during our time away. Guess they didn't read that either. Inexcusable!! Not recieving any pics, my kids and I were very worried when we were away. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I will never take my pets to this place again. I'd rather go back to my regular place and pay half the price and be comfortable my pets are being fed, with a staff kind enough to send me a couple photos while we're away. read more

I am extremely disappointed and upset about our experience with this place. When we checked out the location and reviews for the pet lodge, we were really amazed. The location is in a vacation resort like area with great outdoor activities, such as a swimming pool for dogs, a water play area, and a massive playground. The reviews were good as well, so we didn't hesitate to leave our dog here for a long stay. The place was also recommended by a commercial dog transport company. We checked all the boxes before leaving our dog here. However, the outcome was completely disappointing and heartbreaking. When we picked our dog up, he looked exhausted and scared. When we had him in the car he was shaking and panting. When we arrived home he was disoriented and confused. He wouldn't eat from his bowl or take treats from us. He hardly felt comfortable in his own home. The second day he started peeing and pooping around the house, which he'd never done before. He was a bit aggressive when we wanted to feed him. He forgot almost all of his commands and was looking confused when we tried to work with him on his commands. On the third evening he was laying down and suddenly had a seizure. We took him to emergency and got his bloodwork done. They told us that it might be caused by stress. The next day I called the Pet Resort and told them about the incidence and asked if my dog had any similar issue or had any other issue during his stay. I was told that they did not make any notes of such incidences and tried to assure that everything was fine with him during his stay. I asked about their daycare activities with him. I was told that he was taken out only for potty three times a day and twice of 45 minutes of activity and then he was left in his area alone for the rest the day. Apparently he had limited human or any other dog interaction during his long stay. When we were dropping him off, we were told he'd spend most of his day around other dogs outside. We've previously left him for long stays in other locations where he was reluctant to go home at pick up time, clearly enjoying his stay. We reached out to the manager of the location, who promised to look into any mistreatment of our dog or any other issues, but as of now they have not reached out to us. The company refuses to show us any footage or day logs of our dog during his stay, despite us requesting it to see if he had a seizure. Therefore, we are not sure what happened or how he was treated, but we are sure that this place is not a good boarding for anyone who really cares about their dogs. Wow! I was really nervous about taking my two Goldens back to Pet Lodge after reading the last couple of years of reviews....but I did it anyway, for a one night stay this past Friday. Here is a synopsis: Charged $262 for one night in a suite, and a bath for both dogs Left medication for both dogs. I explained twice during check-in the whats and whens, then an employee called us back around 4:30 the same day to get instructions for the medication. When we picked up the dogs the next day, no medication had been dispensed. Left a new 10 lb. bag of dog food, and received the bag back the very next day with 2 lbs of food in the bag! Did my dogs eat 8 lbs of food over two meals, or did Pet Lodge set up a buffet on my dime? Did they actually stay in a suite? Did they get their nature walks? Who knows... I do know, however, that we will never be back. read more

We boarded our dogs for two weeks here, and this is not the first time we've booked pet lodge pet resort. I'd say we've used them about 10 times now. Our dogs have a specific raw meat diet plan that we carefully explained to a staff member (again not the first time we've had to explain this meal plan to them). After picking them up, we noticed one dog was extremely skinny and not his usual size. Turns out the staff member who took our instructions did not understand how much each dog needed to eat each day. Both dogs normally receive one full tube of raw meat (so two tubes are used each time we feed them). For two weeks both dogs received one half of a single tube for each meal, cutting out half of their normal feeding routine. They are way too skinny and I am concerned for their health...As much as I loved this place, I am no longer confident they can fully take care of my pets while I am out of town. I am very disappointed and upset. I hope they learn from this mistake so it doesn't happen to some one else's pets. UPDATE: *We gave them written instructions on how to feed our dogs. Apparently they need to type any instructions into their computer system and they did not type them in correctly. Even after we verbally explained to an employee what to do. With hand written instructions that we left with them the entire two weeks they stayed, Pet Lodge Pet Resort did not double check with my family or our notes to make sure they fully understood how to feed my dogs. The employee who checked us in seemed to be about High School age. No offense, but how can I know that my pets will receive the best care if young adults cannot even take the correct notes on the needs of my dogs? Not only is that a concern, but when we asked the employee why he was so skinny after his stay, they then decided to admit that they had been fed wrong. They said they figured it out a few days before we picked them up. Why were we not contacted immediately when they found out? Why wait until the owners noticed there was something wrong to admit their fault? How could this place say they are "Atlanta's Best Since 1978" on their website if they can't notice a dog losing weight over the course of two weeks? Even if it wasn't my dog, I would immediately notice a weight change. This is not just a mistake, my dog's health is at risk. I have read other reviews on google and yelp about Pet Lodge Pet Resort and this is not the first time a customer complained about their dogs being underfed or picking up underweight pets from this place. I now have to take my unhealthy and underweight dog to a vet to make sure we bring his weight up correctly and ensure there are no underlying health conditions we are unaware of. 11/10 would not recommend this place* read more

We just moved to town and I needed to board our puppy while we were on a family vacation. The Pet Lodge had decent reviews, a good price point, and excellent customer service. Our Maltipoo was six months old and I paid an additional fee for an extra daily walk, playtime in the pool, and a bath at the end of the week that he was boarded. When I picked him up, a woman first brought his crate out- it was filled with two types of rodent feces!!!! I was appalled-I emptied it, shook out the pad, and went to talk to a manager while I was still waiting for my puppy. The manager admitted that there was an issue with rodents and they were trying to address it. Then the same woman brought my puppy out... Immediately I knew something was wrong- his hair looked terrible even though he's been bathed that morning. When the woman handed the puppy to my daughter, my daughter gasped, due to his weight (we later found out he had lost 2 pounds of his 10 in a week). I went back in and once again spoke with the very courteous manager and he went and got some food from The lobby for my puppy, who scarfed it down. I told him I was very upset and the manager promptly refunded me for the stay. As I said the customer service here is excellent... Not sure what is happening in the back kennels though. Clearly The dogs are not receiving the care that is needed. Two days later my puppy began to cough and I took him to a vet and he had kennel cough. I brought the bill to Pet Lodge and was reimbursed promptly. I'm not sure what's going on, I would not board my pet here until they are able to fix whatever issues they have. read more

I've taken my dog here twice and so far, its been nice - the staff is friendly and they did a great job grooming him. they are open till 7 which is nice, since i leave work later than normal 9-5ers. Also, both times I was able to call in the AM and take my dog in that day. The only reason i'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars is because my dog seems a little stressed when he gets back - he wants to poop and pee right away, almost like he isn't being walked, but even when hes home all day by himself he doesn't do that, which makes me think its stress. That's not necessarily the fault of the facility, so I will keep taking him there and see if he gets used to it. read more

This place is a self wash or full service grooming. Impressed that I was able to call 15min before and was given a tub to wash up Zoe from boarding. The ladies were pretty awesome in that they had everything needed to bathe Zoe. They had all size/breed of fur babies when we came & they all greeted Zoe coming through the door. Zoe wanted to play but I had to bathe her and get her all dried up & presentable for her noon appt w/ Dr. Whitehead @ Banfield. If Ur looking for a self service...this was a great spot to stop in. Just moved here and I've been scouting out places to keep my fur baby when we have to go out of town. Pet Lodge seemed like the obvious choice, it has great reviews on Yelp, it's been on The Travel Channel and it's been rated many times in the "Best of Atlanta" magazine (or whatever it is), and it's like 2 minutes from my house so I only have to listen to "Wowwww I'm in the car" barking for 2 minutes - yippee! Wooded property, check. Nice long winding driveway, check. See happy dogs being walked in the woods while driving up the driveway, check. Cute bone shaped swimming pool, nice fenced in grassy area with obstacles and toys, nice lobby, check, check, check. Tour the back of the facility...check to see if I've been transported to an alternate universe, because this is obviously not in the same dimension as the front of the facility. In all fairness, if I had a little pouffy dog I probably won't mind leaving him in the "suites" up front, but I have a big dog who needs some space, and who likes to sniff, play, roll...ya know, act like a dog - not a cat. The indoor/outdoor kennels looked like a shanty town; were invaded with cocktail wiener sized bees; were bordered on the front by a wooden fence so there was no view; and the outside part of the run was covered in granite gravel. Have you ever walked on granite gravel? You think I'm going to let my dog run on that for a week? His feet would have to be amputated after that! I don't know, maybe this place is better than most (scary), or maybe it was on The Travel Channel in the 1980s when it was in good shape, but I was not impressed at all. Take your dog to Atlanta Dog Trainer Pet Resort in Cumming or Alpharetta instead! That place is beautiful, I just took a tour yesterday and booked Sasha's stay. These places offer indoor/outdoor kennel runs (painted, smooth on paws, easy to clean concrete floors), and the dogs play in a grassy play yard all day with the exception of meal and nap times. They play outside until around 8:00 PM so they have plenty of time to potty before bed, and then they are locked inside for the night where they sleep on a raised cot. This place only charges around $30 per night with no added fees because all the "extras" are included. If I hadn't found this place first I was going to check out Ruff House in Alpharetta (same setup according to their website), so you should look at them too. I'll probably check them out when we get back from our trip, it's always good to have a few options during the busy seasons. read more

The best place ever to leave a beloved family pet while you are traveling on vacation or business. You won't worry a single minute that you are gone. It is tucked away in a large wooded area with lots of dog walking room. They have a large fenced in area for socializing and running and playing with other friendly canines. There is even a large dog-bone shaped pool. Felines have their own room & even are provided with TLC time in a living room setting. Pet Lodge has special young dog walkers who have been carefully trained and are always friendly and wave and say "hi" when you are driving down the long & winding driveway. Leaving your best friend here for a few days is a vacation for both of you. read more

We brought our dog here for 2 nights because we were desperate and had to go out of town. We usually board at another place but with their new shot requirements that we couldn't get in time we had to go with a different place. With the good reviews and word of mouth figured we would give this place a try. When you arrive they have these nice play yards and pools for dogs to play in. We checked in our dog and gave them the instructions on her. I also gave instructions stapled to her bag for the staff to read (with the note still stapled on the bag when we picked her up it seems like they never did). The impression we got from the staff was that they seemed like they knew what they were doing and experienced. What concerns me the most about this place is after we got home I washed all her blankets and the dog hair in the lint trap was dog hair that was not from our dog. So what worries us is if they placed our dog in a room with another dog. They never mentioned if this is a possibility of their operations or even gave us an option, because obviously it would be no. If that is the case I can't imagine what our dog went through because for the last couple of days since we got home our dog has been extremely stressed with excessive shedding and not acting the way she normally does. Also I find their website is really vague about what the rooms each include and does not answer a lot of questions. From now on we will just go back to our normal boarding place. read more

I have previously boarded my dog Candy Wigglebut here but this msy be the last time that I board her here. Previously there were daily pictures of the dogs on Facebook, Candy Wigglebut was there for 8 days and there were only 2 days where they had pictures of any dogs. Also when I checked her in I ordered a bath and nail grind for the day I picked her up. I was told I couldn't pick her up until after 2 because of the bath and nail grind. When I picked her up after 2 neither the bath or the nail grind were done. I was told the person that checked Candy Wigglebut in must have forgot. I had to schedule an appointment with a groomer which was very inconvenient. I don't know what is going on there but the service has greatly declined. I am seriously considering switching where I board my dog. read more

We love Pet Lodge. They treat our dog, Charlie, like he is family. He is always so excited when we pull up and doesn't seem to miss us at all while he is there. They cater to all needs. At times we've had to have Charlie in the "cone of shame" or taking medication and they accommodate any request. They are wonderful. The staff is amazing and I can tell they all love each animal that comes through their doors. You won't have to worry about a thing if you board your pet either. I always know Charlie will be spoiled and well cared for while I'm away. read more

Well, so far so good. Dropped my dog off there for the first time this week and he seemed to of had a great time. My dog has a good bit of energy and all he wanted to do was sleep on the couch when he got home. So job well done! The grounds to this place are very well maintained and very spacious. Just driving up to the facilities you can see all the outdoor play space and maintained lawns. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Especially when I called to check up to see how my dog was doing around lunch time. I wish they had cameras for us to be able to log in to view. That would be my only request. I know some other lodges offer that service. Anyways, We will be back for sure though! read more

I am a little bias because my dog is one of the Turkey dogs that stayed there before he found his forever home. The staff is so kind and loving which is comforting when you have to leave a family member. There is nothing in the world when you know that your babies are being well taken care of and having so much fun. There are two large areas where they can run and play with other dogs. There is the swimming pool in the shape of a dog bone. There is a splash park where they can run and cool down. They can go on long nature walks. And if that isn't your dogs thing, you can request a staff member to give them special one on one attention. It is like DisneyWorld for dogs. My babies love it there. read more

We took our 1 year old puppy to this resort for one week. It was our first time leaving her. We arrived a day early to pick her up and to our surprise she was not in the beautiful room we had paid for. She was in a back room. Her eyes were infected and she weighed 3 pounds less. The dog treats we had given them with her name on it had another dog's name written on it and hers scratched off. They lost her good leash as well. No one apologized and no one offered to pay for her double eye infection. I was disgusted with this "pet resort" and would NEVER recommend it to anyone. Our dog stayed here for 2 weeks in Sept 2019 and came home with a terrible hacking cough even though he was vaccinated for bordetella. The cough persisted for 2 weeks and after improving we found that our house is over run with fleas which is costing us $$$ to treat. We've lived with our dog for 7 years and regularly vaccinate and treat for fleas and heart worms once a month. In 7 years we've never had these problems, and will certainly never leave our dog at this "resort" again. read more

Every time I call in they know exactly who I am bringing . Sometimes when customers come in to pick up there dogs they ask who you are picking up etc. Whenever I walk in, they ask if I am here to pick up Sam. I don't know if Sam is just a unique dog they remember out of all the awesome dogs they see all day but, those two simple things make me feel awesome and proud to take Sam to this Pet Lodge. Kinda on pricy side but I'd say worth the money if you really want no concerns with safety and comfort of your animals

Just have to tell you. This is the best pet boarding facility in North Atlanta. Maybe anywhere. My big dog Cody needs a place to run and play. Pet Lodge has that and so much more. Pools, forest hikes, skills equipment, etc. But the best thing is the people. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Very responsible. Cody is so important to me and our family. We picked our lab up from a weeks stay at Pet Lodge two weeks ago. She has been coughing ever since. We thought maybe it was the leashes that they used as she will generally pull if not on a pinch collar. I'm now waiting at the vets to confirm whether or not it is kennel cough. Regardless, it's either kennel cough or they basically damaged her throat with their leashs. Either way my dogs will never go back here and I recommend you do not ever take your dogs here either. This is not the first issue we have had with this place. Used it as a last-minute option and I'm very sorry we did. read more
