I had gone here for years but will not be coming back. I confirmed and scheduled an appointment. While I was driving there and about 5 minutes a way I get a call and a vm stating that someone came in thinking they had an appointment so they gave them my appointment! They didn't even check in with me if that was okay before making the decision. The reasoning is because the person was elderly. Sorry but an elderly person likely has a lot more availability in their schedule than a working person. I was told they could give me a different stylist who wasn't coming in for an hour or that it would be a double appointment where two different stylists would be working on my balayage which just sounds like a horrible idea. I was literally in my car in front of the salon when I was made aware of this. They didn't wait to see if I could offer that, they just went ahead and gave my appointment away and EXPECTED me to just carry the weight on my back. She was trying to act like me just coming in the next day was no big deal.. as if everyone just has open availability for them to move a 4 hour appointment without asking. I felt really pressured on the phone to somehow be the one responsible for accommodating this other person. Sorry, but that was my appointment and this elderly person likely has way more availability than I do. Nothing was offered to make this a fair exchange. I was just expected to have half assed service and pay full price and also pay with even more hours of my day. This is unbelievably unprofessional behavior masked as being "kind". If I miss my appointment then you all charge me half the amount but when you inform me you gave my appointment away literally at the time of my appointment I'm supposed to just smile and deal with it or I'm not "chill or kind enough" or something. Can I just walk in and take someone's appointment too? Is that a thing now? This was not handled professionally and honestly was incredibly strange behavior. It's not like they snuck her in for a short haircut, they literally gave her my 4 hour slot. I drove 40 minutes one way and also took a day off of work for this appointment. Are you all gonna pay me half of my work day and gas for this inconvenience? She was tried to lure me into the salon and act like it was just fine that they handled things this way. When I asked her straight what was going on it was basically, I'd likley be there for way longer and that I'd have two different people working on my balayage which is just a horrible idea for some many reason. My time is also valuable. My appointment is my appointment that I confirmed. Giving my appointment away is unprofessional and inconsiderate and you lost a client because of it. Some else's time shouldn't be deemed more important than another's. In what world is this okay? Molly, the way you handled this was not okay. It doesn't make you seem more kind or gracious.. it just makes you come off unprofessional and inconsiderate.. and profoundly lacking commonsense. I will not be back. read more

Changing my two star review to a one star. (Strictly to the management) Wow, writing a response to my review 9 months later, with false claims. Not once had I ever rescheduled an appointment. So I'm not quite sure about these false claims the manager is placing under my review to save face. Second of all, I changed my appointment, and it was more than a 48 hour notice and a deposit was taken. I was not aware that you guys were keeping tabs for complimentary services which I would tip $10-15 for. Seems petty to be commenting about a client's services in a response to a review. This salon absolutely has poor management practices. In the phone call I asked to reschedule, that was the moment it should've been clarified my card was about to be charged, rather than suprise charge me, and then wait over half a year to respond to my review. Honestly, prior to my last visit I had a great cuts, the stylist I worked with on my last visit was having a bad day and sharing a story that had her mildly worked up that she got distracted and cut my bangs a little shorter than I would've preferred. All the communication including from this review has lacked punctuality and directness as a business, customers definitely don't come first here. Becareful if they save your cc information, because they won't tell you when they'll charge you. read more

Apparently this is just how hair grows back after almost 12 weeks I got my haircut here almost 3 months ago by Natalie. She's great as far as her personality and vibe, I enjoyed talking to her. My first haircut was amazing. Classic bob. My second one, not so much. It looked good at first but honestly I have not been wearing my hair down since I got it cut and I've been working out of town a lot which delayed my call. Over this past weekend, I had an event so I wore my hair down. That's when my friends and I REALLY noticed how uneven my hair is. When I noticed it months prior I thought maybe I had just styled it badly. But Clearly I got a bad haircut. I've gotten short cuts like this my entire life and it has NEVER grown back like this. Not 12 weeks later, not 6 months later. I called and got the owner on the phone, she happened to answer. I nicely asked if I could come back for a REDUCED price haircut since I got a bad haircut and before we could even have a conversation, She proceeded to cut me off and talk to me in a condescending tone like I'm 5 years old once she saw the haircut was almost 3 months ago. She acted like a b***h with zero customer service skills and I told her that at the end of our call ‍ whoops. Would never go back even if she invited me back for free. read more

Working with Tash is a co-creative experience where they check in with you along the way to see what you are thinking of the progress and how to move forward. Lori understands textured hair, and delivers each time I go. I'm someone who admires the loud colors but always sticks to a more traditional look.. however It's hard for my hair not to brass up. I feel she understands my needs and the way I desire my hair to look like. At the end effortless and manageable while still being a little trendy is important. I do love the grow out of a color she did for me In the summer.. the only thing is that I grey easily and if I could I would see her at least once if not twice a month. I've been visiting this salon for a few years for cut/color and after today won't be returning. I went in for a full hair color and a 1/2 inch trim. I wanted minimal length removed because I've been growing my hair out for 8-9 months. My stylist Deft intentionally made a massive cut on the right side of my hair and when I said it looked weird, they just kept cutting away at it! Then they dried it and cut more! It was so egregious that the only way to make it look normal was to have the manager come in and cut 5 inches off. I went from collar bone length to a very short bob when all I wanted was a trim. This experience took almost 4 hours and they still charged me $130 (albeit they gave me a bag of 4 travel size products). This feels really unacceptable, and made worse because there was no apology from Deft (only the manager that fixed it acknowledged it). I appreciated aveda because of its rigorous education and training requirements, but I didn't experience those standards today and will be finding a new salon as a result read more

I could say things like "Lori C. is a color master straight from babely outer space", or "Molly is a peach and makes the space feel very welcoming and warm and I'd like to know how she keeps all of those salon plants alive and thriving"......which are both v.true. But when making recommendations on salons, it's hard these days to just take a strangers word for it. So here are some facts that I think makes this salon one of best in PDX. 1) they don't overbook their stylists. Every guest gets the attention they deserve, and aren't hustled out the door on the thirty minute mark to plop another $$person$$ in their chair. 2) the space is clean and full of light. Not too cluttered and flow feels organic--not like they hastily slapped the space together and opened the doors. 3) they give you ample reminders for your upcoming appointments, and then also return voicemails. This is huge. I can't believe the lack of customer service these days in general. 4) I'm an observant person, and to that end--all of the stylists here seem to have a good handle on "reading their guest". You can tell when a customer doesn't want to chat too much, and the stylists are hip to that. Check them out. Yeah, parking can be a bitch, but you probably live in PDX if you're reading this and N. Mississippi is no strange neighborhood to you. Plan ahead. read more

And this review is long overdue as I have loved and seen Victoria since she was trained as a baby hair dresser straight from the home of the Aveda School in Minneapolis. She then ditched me and ran to teach at the Aveda school here in PDX, but she's back and now you can get haircut and color. She is on top of all the latest trends and techniques. She has me stalking hair stylists and styles, and I can walk in and say "I want that, you know that shag that looks good even on a middle aged girl stuck at 29" and boom its exactly what I asked for and wanted. And then back to the Aveda products, I mean the hair colo, in this world of chemicals, is not only the safest, most natural, but works and stays on this 49 yo's denial of grays, and it's good for you and the environment. By thinning out my hair and reducing its heavy, excess volume, my hair looks great, but more importantly to me, it feels fabulous. So much lighter! Just came from the salon with my Groupon for a cut and the pure botanical treatment. My stylist was Hillary. This is by far the worst hair cut i have ever had or seen. I should have stopped when i first met Hillary and her bad highlights. Everything was bad from the shampoo to the cut. I was in and out of there in 25 minutes. Way too fast. The shampoo was nothing special, no scalp massaging of any sort, rushed, water in my ears and dripped on the center of my face. The cut! First her hands were shaking like i have never seen. Who in their right mind would cut hair if you can barely hold the scissors. I have a shoulder length bob cut at an angle with straight hair, pretty straight forward cut. She hacked my hair like an 8 year old! The bottom of the hair is supposed to be straight and there is nothing straight about it. It's all jagged and crazy. I don't understand who would cut hair like this and get paid for it. I feel like she was trained in some back yard where all they had were saws to cut with. I drove a long way to go to Pure Salon after having been often disappointed in the salons closer to where I live. I was 100% more than pleased! Julaine foiled and cut my hair exactly as I had hoped! Jennifer is a brilliant stylist and really knows how to work with my thick wavy hair. Every cut she has given me has grown out beautifully, and I always look forward to my next appointment. I have also tried the salon's nail services and have been equally impressed. Tia did a great job with my pedicure, and though it's a little pricey ($60 for the Spa Pedicure), it was a long treatment, so I feel it is well worth the extra money. There is a small private treatment room upstairs, so you can go with a friend and not be bothered by other customers. I definitely recommend it! read more

I started going to Pure Salon at the referral of a co-worker whose hair always looks amazing. Julaine is one of those people who is just naturally talented at doing hair and has been a god-send. I struggled to find someone over the first two years of moving out here so when I started seeing her, it was a huge relief. I am normally just a 'cut' person and infrequently get my hair colored (like once every 3 years). I am in my 40's and wanted something a bit more fun for summer and just had balayage done this past Friday and it looks fantastic. I wanted something very subtle and blended and I couldn't be more pleased. This salon is always welcoming, friendly, immediately checking you in and offering you a beverage. The complimentary hand/arm (or whatever you choose) massage is always so nice and is never rushed or cut short. I have been to other Aveda salons that are not so great. Absolutely love this place and plan on being a patron for a while to come. If you need a new person/place, this place is worth your time. read more

I didn't know it came with two mini spa treatments... mini facial and scalp massage which started the time there with mucho relaxation. I love how much time and attention I got.
