I think there may be management issues here. The salon is not particularly clean, and the acoustics are lacking. It is very loud with people chatting, not a relaxing experience at all. I'm super picky with my hair so I used to travel to LA every few months just to get my haircuts after being to a few bad places here in Portland. She was amazing with my hair! I have long thick hair and Tina knew exactly how to perfectly thin out my hair but also create a natural volume. My hair looked even better after a few months as it grew out. This is my first haircut since moving here, and usually it takes awhile to find your hair place in a new town, but this worked out perfectly! The receptionist was really nice, and Jessica did a great job on my hair. She asked a lot of questions and gave me a great cut. I went here twice for a cut and highlights, and while I loved the highlights each time, I wasn't excited about the cut. I gave photos and explained what I was looking for, but I never walked out with what I had hoped for. The staff were all so nice, I loved chatting with everybody and enjoyed my time there, but in the end, I had to find somebody who could give me the cut I really wanted. I couldn't keep spending that much money when I wasn't absolutely satisfied. They do have beer and wine for their of-age clients, just ask! I went to Coterie when I lived in PDX for several years, and while I absolutely appreciated Jessica at the time, I can say now that I took her for granted bc she is an actual artist when it comes to painting your hair. What she does is intuitive and masterful. She was so attune to what I wanted and what would actually look good- she always took her time, was invested in the outcome and I have never loved my hair cuts and colors more. Now that I'm no longer living in PDX, I leave each new hair appt disappointed bc she ruined me by setting the bar so high. Jessica is the best. I came to Coterie (former Capporicci) with a request to fix a horrible hair color job I received from a salon I had been a patron of for several years. I had a decent ombre that I wanted to transition to all over blonde highlights. This salon was always overbooked (double booked, rushed, understaffed) and instead of getting subtle highlights I ended up with sloppy bright white streaks. Mortified, I was referred to Jessica B at Coterie and I am so happy I came in! When I walked in consult Coterie about the fix, Justine was at the front and welcomed in the stressed, sad-hair stranger with open arms! Bonus points for Coterie that they had a receptionist who was also a stylist and had a number of suggestions on how to fix the color. Justine was super cool and empathetic and was able to schedule an appointment two days later. First off, Jessica was very sweet and confidently knew right off the bat what I wanted. She wove in the most delicate low lights and way toned down my "X-tina circa 2004 Dirrty tour" white streaks. She checked in with me several times throughout the process to make sure the color was what I wanted, and she was more than happy to do a second toning to make sure the color was brilliant and soft. Before walking in, I seriously doubted if my hair could be fixed. I was considering just doing all-over color and going back to an ombre (which is a beautiful look, but a tired one after sporting it for a year). She did the impossible and was so enjoyable to hang out with! Jessica is talented, uses a very beautiful color line, and did a fantastic transformation. The other stylists were super friendly and helpful. They even serve a free drink here :) Prices were also very reasonable. Only $15 dollars more than my horrible dye job. Woo hoo! LOVE IT! read more

loved my hair dresser traci for a couple years, but eventually went downhill real quickly... she messed up my hair 3 times in a row... i asked her why she didn't take notes and she balked at the idea even after messing up 3 times! then they messed up my appointment twice and offered nothing but an apology. great conversations with her, but terrible customer service and the quality of the cuts went bad over time... and she didn't really care in the end. i wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. parking was also always difficult. read more

Had a great haircut experience with Ronnette. I had a short pixie cut with asymmetric bob that I wanted to transition to something longer for the winter. I wasn't sure what style I wanted exactly but my hair was feeling shaggy after growing out in the summer and needed a trim without getting cut too short. Ronnette was helpful in giving suggestions and responding to my requests on select parts like the back and bangs. My hair felt great afterwards and the length was perfect so I could still keep my asymmetric bob shape but now cleaned up a bit. I've had my hair cut by several different stylists in the past few years due to moving around and noticed some treat a pixie cut like a guy's cut, very precise and angular when I would have liked a more organic, softer look. I'm not sure they would have handled my vague generalizations about the cut I wanted that Ronnette did so well. I learned she has many years of hair styling experience and even use to have her own salon when she was in another state. What a gem! read more
