Update 5: Changing my rating from 1 star to 4. I received a call from Karen, the president at Purebreds Plus. We discussed what happened and she assured me that my experience was not the norm, and that Leanne would be disciplined and/or terminated. She also refunded our adoption fee. Karen seemed genuinely concerned about what had happened. She explained that the adoption process should always include visiting the foster home to meet the kittens in a comfortable environment prior to taking them home. I believe the rescue's reputation is very important to Karen and the other folks at Purebreds plus, and I really appreciate the way they handled this bizarre situation Update 4: I got a call back from Amy at Purebreds plus. I missed their call but they left a message expressing concern and letting me know that someone would be following up with me in a few days. Update 3: Leanne just called my partner and left a message telling him that I peed on her paperwork(Wtf?!) and that he needs therapy and I need to go to prison. Umm, yeah, no stars Update 2: Leanne called me and left a voicemail: I'd like to ask you to enjoy hell. You truly are an evil person, you truly are. And I am so sorry for Alan(my partner) -y'all, this is so wild. I had no idea this could happen over some kittens. Update: After leaving my house Leanne texted me to tell me that she's calling all the rescues to put me and my partner on a do not adopt list. So I've blocked her number. -------- My partner adopted two kittens while I was away this past weekend. He said he never got a chance to interact with the kittens before bringing them home because Leanna, the foster, wouldn't allow him to take them out of the cat carrier. When I got home we realized that the kittens did not match the description provided. We were expecting a bonded pair of grey Maine Coon mix kittens with tufted ears and green eyes. What we got seemed more like a couple of poorly socialized 4 month old litter mates, that seemed much more like domestic medium hair grey tabbies than Maine coons. Their eyes were yellow rather than green, and they had long ear furnishings, but no ear tufts. They were still beautiful, and I've been a volunteer cat foster for years, so I figured we could socialize them if we really wanted to. The foster, Leanne, had said there were lots of applicants for these kittens, so we spent two days discussing and considering our options, we had paid $300 for the kittens, but decided it would be best to return the kittens to the rescue to be rehomed while they still had a lot of other interested families. I figured the rescue wouldn't care, they just get to collect another $300 off one of the other interested applicants. Boy was I wrong! I had texted Leanne to let her know that we'd like to return the kittens, but she hadn't responded, so I gave her a call. She answered right away and was very sweet on the phone. She asked why I'd like to return them and I told her it wasn't going to work out and that I could bring the kittens to her. She said her husband would come get them and we ended the call. A few minutes later she calls me back, sounding angry. She tells me that she needs her cat carrier and her paperwork. I told her that I have the cat carrier ready, but I wasn't sure where the paperwork is and would look around for it. She tells me that I better have her paper work and then starts yelling at me about what a horrible person I am, that she has a lot of applications and I was lucky to get these kittens. I tried to explain that my partner hadn't consulted me and there were problems with the ad but she just kept yelling over me. Telling me "too bad, that's your problem sweetheart!" over and over again. Then she said she was coming to my house with her husband and hung up on me. I was scared. I didn't understand the reaction she was having. I called the rescue to see if I could talk to someone, but all I could do was leave a voicemail. But for all I know those messages might just go back to Leanne. A while later she showed up at my door, angry and telling me that I was the worst person she'd ever met. It's so wild, like, I cannot believe that this happened and that she behaved this way. After she left with the cats she even sat in her car, in front of my house, and just laid on the horn for a while.

Adopted a kitten from foster, Dayna, a few days ago. The adoption process was lengthy but really simple! This rescue is all about finding the right match for adopters AND cats. Dayna made the process easy, was very sweet & helped us bring home a new family member Laszlo (previously Cannoli) is settling into his new home and we can't wait to see him fully blossom! Thank you so much to Dayna and Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue for everything! (Pictures of Laszlo after bringing him home!)

They're not an adoption agency. They are saving animals. They have limited resources (volunteers!), so they're going to create adoption obstacles to weed out those who are not willing, able, and committed to providing safe and caring homes. So be prepared to spend 15-20 minutes to apply online and be ready to respond quickly if they reply to your application. We inquired online about adopting our fur baby on June 19, 2021. We got lucky and got a response right away. Within less than 24 hours we got confirmation she was ours if we were willing to pick her up within the next day and a half. The process required an online application (be ready to get personal), several home video submissions, and some follow up questions. We picked her up on Fathers Day, June 20 2021! So it was quite the whirlwind. It was amazing and life changing! DAR is living up to their mission. They're doing the hard work. Don't expect them to bend to you. Remember, you are not the client - serving the animals are their purpose. Please don't write or pay attention reviews that they didn't respond to email. You're only hurting animals that deserve forever homes.

When I contacted them a few days later the girl first said she mix some medication For us to pick up , I contacted another number of where the lab work was done and vaccinations were done at UC Davis and they advised they couldn't release the kittens medical information to me only the SpCA, why? Because the kitten was sick ! Obviously, shouldn't I be aware of medical issues with an animal I just adopted!? about 20 minutes later they said it was not their kittens even though they were currently treating them with meds but that it was my" elderly cat" (he's 10). I took my cat straight away to our vet who tan blood work( $570) took stool samples and advised he needed medication for parasites deworming ect. The SPCA refused to give us the medication for the kitten we adopted but told us it would be best if we just returned him to the foster who was caring for him. All they are interested in is the "DONATION" of $135 or "Fee" . I am happy to donate to the care and rescue of all animals but I will not contribute to staff not doctors giving medical opinions and letting sick animals be adopted knowingly. We were told the cat may have diarrhea due to them changing the food. Clearly this was not the reason. They don't respond to emails, they don't have an office number they are unorganized. I have adopted several cats from shelters and SPCA. This is a common occurrence of how pet adoptions happen.

Amazing!!! Elizabeth is the only one I trust with my dogs!…read more I am one of those people who many think love their dogs just a tad too much maybe. They are my very best friends and they are treated completely equal to any other family member. They bring us so much joy and happiness that it is hard to fully put into words. That being said I went through 4 other potentially dog sitters before I found Elizabeth. I am thorough! I do not just dump my fur babies and leave i thoroughly checked Elizabeth's business out and made sure that all conditions were up to my standards! My dogs 2 very small dogs are accustomed to a 1.5 mile walk, once in the morning and once at night and at least a 1 hour dog park trip every single day so i had to make sure that Elizabeth could accommodate their active lifestyles! All of my expectations and desires were met and exceeded! She takes the dogs to the dog park twice a day and all the dogs that she brings around she makes she they are well socialized enough to interact safety with even my 6LB toy poodle! She follows my feeding instructions to the letter and is constantly sending me updates on how they are doing and pictures of them both day and night! Elizabeth is also SO easily to contact and communicate with! She always responds so quickly and even has no problem meeting me wherever she is at in her day to get my dogs! Elizabeth's Dog Sitting is the only person my family trusts to leave our fur babies with and it is such a huge relief to not have to worry about our babies because we know they are in great hands! I have known Odessa for years and have so much respect for her incredible personal commitment to dog rescue. Most of the dogs 'roam' freely in her house, learning to get along with other dogs and with people. Puppies (and moms) stay in the puppy palace (a charmingly converted and furnished garage space). Rescuing and adopting dogs is very hard and very expensive work, since many dogs who were neglected or abused require a lot of love, medical care, and training. Please take any 'negative' reviews with a big grain of salt. All of us who have to deal with the public understand how unreasonable and uncharitable some people can be. This is a truly extraordinary woman who makes great sacrifices to rescue and place dogs in the best possible homes. It's an uphill battle with so many people allowing their dogs to breed and dumping them on rescue. And with some adopters/lookers who can be disrespectful of the process around placing dogs. Very few of us could do this work day in and day out with no reward other than seeing dogs go to the right guardians. Thank you to everyone who supports and adopts from rescue, saves lives, and appreciates those doing the really hard work. And please consider fostering a little dog if you can. It's a rewarding experience being part of the pipeline to forever homes.
