It is funny to see how the stock and type of stuff varies so much in different parts of the state. This thrift store is the best one that I have found in Northern Michigan not only is it extremely spacious... The store itself is extremely organized, and you can tell that the owners and staff take great pride in merchandising their product in a way that is easy to shop and thoughtfully placed. I found it incredible how this business is operating I went today for the first time and it is senior day so the deals are very deep and the line is wrapped around the building! Their inventory is still being built up. I heard on the news they are going to take furniture donations here, but furniture is all going to be sold at the S. Airport location. So- this is good for clothes, books (getting there), puzzles/games/toys, shoes (so-so, size organization needs some work, this may be a store size constraint). My mom and I visited the other afternoon. Service was fine. They take cash or cards so I am happy. My mother found 3 tops and a pair of pants, I found a nice western-style shirt, a puzzle and a book (all things I have trouble resisting). Watch for the colored tag sales if you are really looking to save some money, I think those items are heavily reduced- the color changes on Saturdays.

Soft lines (apparel, footwear, linens, pillow) is on the right side. The middle section that connects the two buildings was the fragile items.. glassware, candles, glass home decor. Then the left side was everything else! Everything is so well laid out which isn't the typical for a thrift store. The furniture is all in great shape and priced to value. Seems they filter donations in a way. Tons of Disney movies and outdoor sports gear... clothing was blanket priced (I.E. all ladies tops $2 all men's pants $3 for example) unless otherwise signed or marked. Got some great stuff today!

The organization has a responsibility to sell a certain amount of these items and turn a bottom line number. They can't all be winners. We decided to risk it (we were on vacation), and upon entering we were assaulted by the smell of cat, stale cigarettes, and just general stank-ness 3. The guy was laying back on a gross Lazy-Boy with no shoes on and random junk spread around the "business." He said he was just at post office but we got the feeling he was asleep (it was afternoon.). 4. There were animal pelts laying in a pile in one area 5. He invited us to check out a different room in back because there was "more back there." Despite wondering if we would be murdered back there, we checked it out (we were on vacation). This room didn't smell as bad, but it was basically a garage that wasn't heated (it was February) and was just more random garbage mostly. -Oh yea, between these two rooms was a kitchen that was a squalid mess- I thought we might see a rat cooking, so I think the guy lives there also. That being said- I bought some deer horns for $25 because they were cool/I thought were might not make it out otherwise.
