Used the Wash and Fold service. That was last year. (It's Feb 28th, 2026) They still can't find my laundry bag. They still haven't communicated in OVER A MONTH. Emails get ignored. Calls on the weekend get various iterations of "that's wash and fold" and "They aren't here right now." and "Someone will contact you." (Hint: They never contact you.) Puritan used to be the #1 cleaner I raved about. Now I can't believe they were ever over a 2 star. How do you LOSE someone's laundry entirely (This might happen, large production base and all) and then as a business go radio silent for MONTHS at a time. (this is truly unacceptable.) Is there a worse value for money than a shop stealing your clothes and ghosting? I haven't found it yet. read more

We brought 8 pairs of pants to dry clean. My husband knew it would cost about $40. It cost $85.00 he could not believe it. This is the Puritan Cleaners on Midlothian Turnpike. To say the least he said he I will not be coming back. It cost$12.15 per pair. Talked about it long after picking them up. We drove from Farmville to get them dry cleaned. Cost a fortune and not worth the trip. It's 4x what we paid at our cleaners. What else is there to say still floored. He was really traumatized!!!!! read more

I haven't written a 1 star yelp review since 2014. But my recent experience with Puritan Cleaners was unacceptable. I dropped off a pair of black dress pants and one white dress shirt on Monday (11/07/22). I was informed these items would be ready for pick up the next day, Tuesday (11/08/2022) after 5:00 pm. My first attempt to pick up my clothes was Wednesday (11/09/2022) at 12:00 pm. Upon my arrival I was told my white dress shirt was not ready for pickup and to come back after 5:00PM that day and they would call or text me when it was ready. Puzzled, I asked the associate why there was a delay and was flatly told "It has a stain on it and needs to be detailed." Odd, I don't recall any stain on the shirt that would take this long to clean. I never received a call or text from them at any point that anything was ready. It's now Thursday (11/10/2022) and I am beyond frustrated at this point. I called Puritan Cleaners and told them that I needed the dress shirt today, regardless of the condition it was in. I am out of time and due to leave for an out-of-town wedding. When I arrived, I was finally told what really happened. They completely ruined my shirt. Their version of events is when they began to clean my shirt after cleaning another customer's blue shirt, they accidentally pressed blue dye into my white shirt. Why didn't you tell me this Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday? Instead, I, the customer, had to continually follow up and be given the run around. They kept stalling for time. It's only after I demanded the shirt that they owned up to what actually happened. Furthermore, why wasn't a manager on staff during the morning shift? I had to wait for Carla (the manager) to arrive at 1:00PM and return at that time so that I could be paid for my ruined shirt. To add even more insult, there was no apology from the manager and her attitude was very "oh well, life happens." While that might be true, good customer service would be extending me the courtesy of the truth so I can deal with the situation as soon as possible. Is that too much to ask? Carla then attempts to casually turn this into a positive opportunity to "just buy a new shirt." as if this situation wasn't already incredibly frustrating and inconvenient. Unbelievable. It's hard to believe this place dry cleans clothes for a living. I hope you're reading this Sara M. as this is NOT how to conduct a business. Some basic customer service would be a courtesy call at the minimum. Mistakes happen so just inform me and let's fix it. Carla informed me a check will be issued to me by mail. Great. Puritan Cleaners - completely ruined - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Midlothian, Virginia

I had used the tailor at this location previously and was very happy with her work. That and the gracious interaction I had with the manager brought me back again today for more tailoring services. My experience with the Assistant Manager today was completely different. I was appalled. I am currently disabled, and use a cane to walk. I cannot walk very far. There are no handicap parking spaces designated. When I arrive today, one of the spaces in very front was open. It is not marked or reserved in anyway. I parked in that spot. I came into the store and started my business with the tailor. We were interrupted by the Assistant Manager who told me to move my car. He told me to park in the side parking lot. I told him that was further for me to walk, and that it was a problem. He said nothing. I told him the space in which I parked was not marked as reserved in anyway. He said nothing. I highlighted that there is no designated handicap parking. He said nothing. At this point, I realized that customer service and care were not priorities of this business. I told the tailor (who expressed dismay over the circumstance) and the other employees at the front, that Puritan just lost my business. The employees at the front said nothing. I then asked to speak with the manager. My interactions with both the Manager and the tailor were positive. I was grateful for the apology I received from the Manager and was grateful she offered an alternative. I heard of Puritan Cleaners and although quite far from Powhatan, I thought I would give them a try. My first and last time going there...Seven shirts cost $35.99, far more expensive than my local dry cleaners and I don't really see any difference (well the hangers are nicer). For one shirt which I have had laundered many times and clearly says "wash in cold" they decided to dry clean it for some reason and charged me $8.27. Will not be back, you are paying for the embedded cost of curbside service and "free" pick up and delivery. I will say the staff were responsive and friendly. read more

I bought my wedding dress NYC and had it altered by a seamstress there as well. She ruined my dress, got blood on my dress and ruined the hem by stitching in the wrong places and then ripping out the stitching and the satin fabric along with it. Puritan worked magic the week of my wedding to clean and press the dress in a matter of two days. They could not fix her errors, but they made them almost completely invisible. Read the fine print on any and all coupon services or promotions as they are not as advertised. I took in 3 coats as there was a 3 services for the price of 2 promotion and ended up paying for all 3 coats. When I dropped the items off I asked if these were included in the promotion and was told 'yes' as long as you redeemed the coupon on your account which I had already done. When I picked the coats up I was informed that the discount would be applied to the lining of one of the coats. When I asked why they removed the lining - then I was informed this was an additional item and they always discount the lowest item. Worse service ever!!!! Extremely pricy for what little value they add. I paid $24 for 3 dress shirts and 2 pair of slacks to be laundered and hung. The premium price they charge doesn't match the level of service you receive. You either get starch or no starch.. No "light, medium or heavy"-- just yes or no. For the premium price, you should get wooden hangers, an option for starch levels and a friendly smile. I now use a competitor down the street and it's well over half price ($9.15 to be exact)-- for the same exact items-- however, I now get a choice of starch options as well as a welcoming smile. Will never go back here. I accidentally left two items in my suit jacket pocket and both things were stolen. I called them the next day (picked up close to closing) and they said no items were picked up and brought to their attention. I realise it was my mistake for leaving valuable items in my pocket, however, a trustworthy and reputable business should have a system for this very thing. I imagine it's pretty common because the person I spoke to said they deal with it quite often. I'd give them 0 stars if it was possible. I needed a place that was on my way to work after recently moving here. I stopped by Puritan and was shocked not having to get out of my car. The woman that greeted me was very nice and got my info and was surprised later that's day getting an email that it was ready to pick up. That's where my two stars come from. When I got my shirts, it came out just like any other place (plastic covering on wire hangers). Thought I was going to get a club bag of some sort. And then when he said $39 for 12 shirts I thought he gave me the wrong bill. I buy all my shirts from the exact same place but apparently one couldn't be laundered so it cost me $5. And at $3 a pop for the others I'd rather go down the street by Kroger or by my office and pay $10-15 less for this many shirts. Won't be coming back. read more

Speaking as a person that wears a suit 5 days a week and has used numerous dry cleaning services over the years Puritan Cleaners is the best around. I leave my clothes in a bag on my door on Tuesday and they are returned on Friday cleaned pressed and ready to go at no extra charge. They also have a 24 hour service for an additional fee but I havent had the need to use it.
