It is NOT a place I would recommend: 1. They automatically CHARGE THE TIP on the bill, rather than letting customers decide the amount. 2. The PORTIONS ARE SMALL for the price, so it didn't feel like a good value. 3. We came here for the first time. The floor was sticky. The table was sticky and dirty. The waiter brought out glasses that were very dirty. The water pitcher was also dirty. When ordering, we had questions about the food since we are not native Spanish speakers. The waiter could't and didn't help us. It was as quite challenging to order. The beef stew was two large chunks of beef which were covered in a tasty green sauce. It was delicious but I was expecting smaller pieces of beef . After being seated they will serve you two sauces along with some salted corn nuts. The green sauce is by far the superior tasting sauce of the two. Decided to try one new dish this visit and while it was tasty something seemed lacking. The chicken with rice if I remembered correctly was listed as bbq chicken but the chicken looks like it was pan fried. The ceviche was the reason I seem to come back for each time. My little brother speaks Spanish and our 2nd time coming to this location. The first time was when K Rico Peru was here which I think had closed in 2013 (I think). I don't remember K Rico being that great though. Puro Peru on the other hand was great! Service was on the ball, food came out piping hot and delicious. Loved the purple corn drink, ceviche, chicken & alfredo, and shrimp chowder Chupe de Camarones. Items not that great were the cilantro chicken (arroz con pollo), and the cookies (Alfajores) as they didn't have enough Dulce de Leche IMO. OMG! I'm 67 years old and have never had Peruvian food. I would drive past this place almost daily when I was working and never bothered to check it out. WHAT A MISTAKE! This place is a hidden gem. Saw other views encouraging people to forgive the appearance, outside and in. My wife and I were craving fried yucca, plantains, and chicken - this was one of the few menus we could find with the trifecta. She got the grilled chicken and salad, I got the pollo con arroz - rice cooked in beer and a green sauce whose name escapes me now. My dish came with a potato-type side as well as a heap of a sort of pickled onions. The combo of rice, chicken, and sweet onions with a green pepper sauce throughout was great! (it's best as a combo - the chicken alone is still really good, but the other flavors take it over the top) The grilled chicken and salad dish is focused on the chicken itself and OH MY! That was AMAZING chicken. This dish was sooo worth it. The yucca was an appetizer, matched our ideal, as did the plantains. This place deserves to be tried out. Oh, and it's worth mentioning that service was pretty fast (not many people in when we went in, but it started to fill up), and our server was kind and courteous. Despite no check-in podium/desk, and despite the duct tape on the booth bench, it was such great food and atmosphere. 10/10 would go again! read more

We decided last minute to go to Puro Peru on a Saturday night at about 5pm. We went in and were seated immediately which was a pleasant surprise for a Saturday night. Neither my husband or I had ever tried Peruvian food before so we have no idea what Peruvian food is supposed to taste like. They gave us a little bowl of complementary corn which was pretty good but had a very strange texture. They went well with the 2 sauces that were served with them. We decided on two entrees that were listed as popular dishes on Yelp. We ordered Arroz con Mariscos and Bistec a la Parrilla. The waitress assured us that these were great dishes and as usual my husband and I ate half of our dish and then traded so we each get a good portion of both dishes. The "Bistec a la Parrilla" is Peruvian steak that came with a salad, white rice, french fries, and fried Plantains. The steak, which had a fried egg on top, was tasty but pretty much tasted like a steak that you could get anywhere. So if you come here looking for unique Peruvian flavors, then don't order Bistec a la Parrilla. The sides were all just ok, nothing special. "Arroz con Mariscos" is a rice dish with shrimp, squid & some veggies with mussels on the side. The flavor of the rice reminded me of Mexican rice from back home (Southern AZ). It was so loaded with squid that you couldn't take a bite with out some in it. It was very tasty and satisfying. The service, like a lot of other Yelpers reported, was subpar. We found ourselves waiting around for the waitress a lot. The atmosphere was great, very relaxed and fun. As we were leaving they had live entertainment starting up for the night which was great. We enjoyed the seafood dish but we weren't really blown away by anything else. If we ever decide to go back I look forward to trying other Peruvian dishes. read more

Ask the kid to speak to the owner he lies and says he doesn't understand english do than I ask for the chef than he smiles and says the same . I talk to the owner who actually speaks and understands enough just says sorry . I say look I have had 2 bad experiences now I wish you could give me a reason to come back I like the food , sorry . I debated between 3 and 4 stars... if we had been there a different night, maybe it would be 4. This is a little hole in the wall place with a big menu and authentic Peruvian food. Usually places like this are just up my alley, but it started poorly when they didn't even acknowledge us for 10 minutes. They aren't handing out menus now, so when you stand there and wait, look at the menu they have tapped up on a TV as that is the only menu you will see. There was a huge wedding party there, but it wasn't that they were always even taking care of them, the staff just seemed to disappear. Once seated and and once we ordered our appetizer of Platanos Fritos came quickly... we just had to wait 5 minutes to get someone's attention again to bring us silverware so we could eat them. We ordered Lomo Saltado and Pechuga a la Parrilla. The portions are big, I loved the rice that came with it. The Lomo saltado was good, the chicken in the other dish was a bit bland. When we finished eating it was at least another ten minutes before we flagged someone down for a check. They do have a small kids menu, and they can push tables together for big groups. This place is definitely very authentic and maybe a different night would have been better service, but if you like Peruvian food, definitely try this place. read more

Great flavors but the food was all a bit dry.. I'd recommend getting their green sauce on the side. They were out of all the appetizers we wanted, they didn't have their tapas, or tamales, our server recommend the yuquita fritos.. which is $7 for fried yuca and cheese.. every dish we ordered had fried Yuca root, which made the appetizer a costly disappointment. The Rachi traditional was good.. but was missing something to absorb the flavors, it came out like an unorganized mess. Our main dishes were the chicharone de pollo and the beef heart stir fry, both were excellent, though I would rather have the pollo dish served in a taco. Our server neglected our waters, and even though it wasn't busy, our server was rarely present.. but sue was rather nice to us.. it did take 30 minutes to get our check, even though our server only had 3 other tables. read more
