Sadly, I wasn't fond of this place:( I really wanted to like it, as I'm a huge fan & supporter of small/family businesses, but their food just fell flat for me. My steak was flavorless, overcooked (even though I asked for medium rare), and dry, which saddened me, as I felt like that should have been the star of the show. Omy goodness. I feel like I found a gem. The arroz frito (arroz chaufa) was so good. I ordered the one that has the beef, chicken and shrimp. I've had it three times and never disappoints. You won't go hungry here. Portions are large, and tasty. Chicken was seasoned with a little too much salt for my taste, but was tender and juicy. The enormous mound of fries were on the soggy side, and barely warm. I like my fries on the crispy side and piping hot. I ordered something different than was brought to the table because they speak Spanish, and I don't. It didn't matter in the end because what they brought was tasty. Upon entering the restaurant the first thing I noticed was that they had several large screen TV's playing a soccer game on each wall of the restaurant, and in the corner. It was so loud it was hard to hear the people at my table. We asked them to turn the volume down, and they obliged. I'm not a big fan of TV's in restaurants but that's just me I guess. I was visiting Utah and compared 2 or 3 other restaurants serving Peruvian cuisine. Hands down, as a person very much acquainted with Peruvian history, food and culture, this restaurant truly impressed me. I was very happy and it was the closest to being in Lima Peru from my experience eating at Peruvian restaurants in the US. I also can tell the owners put extra care and were meticulous and passionate in their recipes, starting with the Leche de tigre, I enjoyed the succulent, aromatic and tasty sopa de gallina, as well as the Lomo Saltado. I've been dreaming of their arroz con pollo since the day I first tried it. Everything was so flavorful and the portions were generous. If I didn't have to share a couple of the dishes I could have finished them all myself. I'm so happy I found this place! I'm going in tomorrow for sure. read more

Decided to try Peruvian food and this place was delicious! We ordered a Bistek a lo Pobre, Monstrito and Pollo a la plancha. The waitress brought us a sample of the drinks made from purple and yellow corn. Chicha Morada was so tasty! We were too full to try a cremolada, which is similar to a mangonada but made from Peruvian fruits. Yucca fruits was tasty and cooked crispy with a nice salad of red onions and tomato with romaine lettuce. Huancaína sauce was very good. The portions were big and we were able to take food back to hotel. Overall, food was very good except that the waitress told me they were out of steak and after my family got their food, she told me they had gone to buy meat to make my plate. I got my food when my family was halfway through their meal but was tasty. We also got an order of the green rice and it was almost as good as their fried rice. read more

Had the Pollo a la Brasa. So tasty! Huge portions too. The salad that came with it was really just a pile of lettuce (nothing to write home about). But great chicken! And the white sauce pairs really well with it. It's kind of a garlic sauce. read more

I was reluctant coming here because of same negative reviews, but whoa was I wrong! We were a group of 4 people and we ordered a full Pollo A la Braza and being from Perú I'm not too impressed with some places I've gone to a few years back. However, the chicken was fully cooked and incredibly well seasoned. I honestly think they marinate their chicken for a day or two to have it taste this way and the fried arrive hot and crispy! And it looks like they use natural potatoes and then cut them with a potato cutter or something. The salad was something else, very simple, but the light creamy sauce on top was to die for, I had to ask for extra sauce! Next we ordered the noddles with beef, and it was a Peruvianized version of Lo mein. Kinda tasted like Chinese, but had intense flavor that could not be mistaken...it was Peruvian. The beef was another crazy thing. I could sense a bit of cilantro, cumin, soy sauce, vinegar, etc...it felt like home. My parents who also happen to be even more picky than me, compared it to a place in Lima, Perú. Another thing that surprised me was the chicha morada (purple drink). I've never really liked any restaurants chicha, but today for the first time in years I fell in love with it again. They brought out everything within 10 mins of us ordering (note: we called a few mins before arriving just to let them know) Cons? Perhaps update the restaurant a little more and wipe down the blinds, and perhaps location (a bit ghetto), but that's honest it! read more

We visited Casa Peru last week for lunch and enjoyed a good Peruvian meal! I ordered my personal favorites: appetizer of Papa a la Huancaina, main entree of Lomo Saltado, and Chicha Morada to drink. The Papa a la Huancaina was warm, cheesy, and flavorful. Among the best I've eaten. The Lomo Saltaldo was freshly stir fried with steak, onions, tomatoes, served over a bed of homemade french fries and rice. The Lomo Saltaldo was flavorful and their green aji sauce spiced it up and added some more flavor. The steak itself was a little overcooked and some pieces were unfortunately tough to chew. Since Peru is well known as the home of the potato (more than 4,000 varieties of of potatoes are cultivated in Peru today) I appreciate that Casa Peru makes their own french fries and didn't serve up the frozen variety. The homemade Chicha Morada was very good and flavorful. Some of the best Chicha Morada I've enjoyed. Service was good and everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. I would definitely recommend Casa Peru and will be going back again to enjoy their tasty Peruvian food! read more

This establishment needs to turn the heater up. The chilly feeling walking into this restaurant does its food no justice. Besides the cold environment and the waitress bringing our food out at different times, the food was amazing. I ordered a ceviche dish that was amazing. The fresh lime squeezed on the raw fish complimented the calamari, and fine slices of cooked octopus and shrimp topped with chopped red onion. In addition, I had a big bowl of creamy shrimp soup. Absolutely delicious! Only other drawback besides the chilly dining area was the waitress. Be attentive and keep track of your customers order. I would've been upset if my food sat on another customer's table for over 5 minutes before realizing the error. Then to pick it up and take it over to the correct customer goes against restaurant etiquette. The service provided was awful. Tables were messy and customers were left unattended to for quite some time. We were told they were out of a menu item as they proceeded to serve later parties the same thing and after asking our waitress who had told us they were out from the start she had told us if we wanted it after ordering our food. To finish things off after paying the bill they had added a service charge to our party of 5 despite papers on the table saying service charges would be added to parties of 6 and more. After asking them to take this charge off an argument broke out. For better service and for better overall food and experience go to Rubis Peruvian Taste or even Puro Peru, you'll be doing your stomach and your wallet a favor. read more

Decided to check out this little spot. It's in a strip mall surrounded by Taqueria's and such. The atmosphere isn't really much to write about but the food was pretty tasty. We ordered the Arroz Con Pollo (which come with a side of papa huancaina) the chicken was fall off the bone tender and the dish was very flavorful. I would go back to get it again. We looked for good Peruvian restaurant and I strongly recommend here! Very authentic, tasty and price is good. Just be careful, each dish is huge! Friendly people, decent place, happy atmosphere, not-too-long wait to be served and very good food with reasonable price, what else do you need? And don't forget to order famous Inca kola, the taste of Peru! I believe you can order anything here and you won't be disappointed. The food was plentiful, the pricing was reasonable compared to other Peruvian restaurant I've been too. The decor and ambiance is plain not much going on with the place but the food makes up for it. The service was great. I was a little disappointed the menu was not in English or had descriptions about the food. I think it would make a big difference in their business. The owner did speak English and was able to help us out and explain things to us. They just opened up so I hope more people know about them and give this humble business a try.
