O yeah what a wonderful dinner with the right environment for a fun date with the girl of my dreams you really know how to make a man and his women happy much love

    The show stopper: CHICA MORENA
    Molly O.

I am in a trance. This restaurant is like a relaxing day dream. There was Salsa music on the speakers with a rhythm that promoted the chill ambiance. I wanted my birthday to be a dream come true. The appetizers I chose were Plananos Frites and Yuca Frites. The plantains were extremely ripe and deep fried. For me the taste was starchy, sweet potato, with mild essence that remind you that plantains are the cousin of the Banana. The Yuca frites were like steak fries on steroids. What a delightful alternative to the usual fried root vegetables (potatoes, sweet potatoes) as a newcomer I christen Yuca frites the favorite and embodiment of Peruvian appetizer. We tried to order a large Chica Morena which is a delicious dark colored drink that invokes a non alcoholic sangria. But it was unavailable to our table. I found this odd because the other tables clearly had large orders. There is preferential treatment for certain customers in some cultures. And although that may see unfair in the United States if you just roll with a foreign culture you will have fun. Instead of thinking why won't you serve us a large when you served others take the opportunity to order all the small drinks. What results is a sample of the plethora of drinks. We tried the Aztec Cola which was a cream style cola, A passion fruit drink (don't remember the name), and the show stopper The Chica Morena. Hands down Chica Morena is the most delicious drink on the menu. For dinner my Boyfriend had Tallarin Verde which was amazing that green sauce on the noodle is sorcery! I had Chaufa Vegetariana which I was shocked turned out to be Fried Rice. Most people from Peru have Asian ancestry and there is Chinese influence. I am ok with having Chinese food at a Peruvian restaurant. Next time I will try other options. Many Vegetarian options but few Vegan options I am glad I spent my birthday here. The service is extremely slow. However if you just want to eat, relax, and enjoy this place is amazing. I am so grateful to live a life where I can experience different cultures. Proud to be from SLC Utah. Thanks for a chill birthday!

Lucho Arroyo is cooking now at Contigo's Perú. We find it out recently, well we went yesterday, Saturday, a hot day when you crave a Ceviche. We had Cevuche de Pescado, Tamal Peruano, Papa a la Huancaína and Arroz con Pollo. Food for sure was great, Lucho Arroyo is the best Peruvian chef in town. Prices are high honestly. I did like the walls, they have really nice posters of the Peruvian culture.

First of all, I should mention that I'm Peruvian (so my review is honest). Hands down, the nicest waiter I've ever had. The Peruvian food here was so delicious! I definitely recommend any of the saltado's and pollo a la braza. If you're new to Peruvian food, try Inca kola (Peru's soda) and alfajores (delicious cookies).

I actually went here for my Birthday to force my family to get a little culture. The flavors are really mild, but I definitely enjoyed all of the food I tried. The menu focuses a lot around steak with veggies over rice with different sauces. I know this is going to sound funny, but i recommend anything that is yellow. Everything I tried that was yellow was really good, but unfortunately I dont know the name of it. I always ask the waitress what they recommend and the second time I went to this restaurant I tried the buffet. The buffet is only on Fridays and Saturdays from 12 to 5pm.

As you step inside, you can immediately tell that the establishment is well managed. Everything is beautiful and the staff and quick to welcome you with a smile and seat you. They welcome you a cold glass bottle of filtered water. Make sure you sit outside at shaded table near the fountain. Even in 90-degree-weather days, the coolness from the fountains splashing and numerous nearby trees and bushes make the experience very pleasant with even a slight breeze. The entrees are reasonably priced and very tempting, it's a challenge to choose what to eat. My suggestion? Give the wait staff an idea of your favorites and ask them to make a suggestion. Both times I've been here, I ordered what they suggested and it was amazing. The seafood, sauces and flavors are elegant and well executed. They have lots of options for seafood lovers and those who love it less. On my latest trip, I got the Prawn Scampi. The spaghettini noodles were cooked al dente, the butter garlic sauce was delicious, and when you combined them with a grape tomato, a part of the asparagus heart, and one of the prawns it was a taste symphony! A tip! Sometimes they have special where if you show them a ticket to a movie at the nearby Cinemark theater, they'll give you a free appetizer. I got the Seafood Chowder. The Cajun fries were good quality fries (on the more potato rather than crispy side) but could've used more Cajun. Next time I'd ask for a side of Cajun seasoning or see if they can just put more on. The refresher was light in flavor but actually really good and legitimately refreshing! There might have even been tiny pieces of peach on the bottom, which I liked! For the boil I got a half pound of shrimp (head on) and subbed the potato for a corn and added a second corn. I got the special sauce (basically a combo of all the sauces) mild, but didn't think it tasted spicy at all. To be honest I think the sauce was just okay, a little less flavorful than expected. Maybe next time I would try medium spice level to see if it makes a difference. My bf got a half pound of shrimp (head off), half pound of crawdads, and wanted the blue crab but because it was sold out, he switched to a half pound of snow crab legs, garlic butter (seasoned), mild. He thought the sauce was good but wished it would've soaked into the meat more. Def recommend frequent dipping! Crawdads weren't bad, it was our first time eating them but offered very little meat for the work required. He was pretty disappointed with the crab legs--despite being double the price of the blue crab, almost every leg he cracked open was half hollow and had barely any meat in it. He said it was the first time in his life he's had crab legs like that! Service however was 10/10. She was super attentive, kind, and welcoming. Some of the best service I've ever had! Ambiance is casual, had cute theming similar to most seafood boil spots. Appreciated the bibs, gloves, and wipes! Overall I liked it but would tweak my order. Unfortunately, my bf said he would never go back again, but this was only his second time ever going to a seafood boil restaurant, and he's thinking it just might not be for him lol.

However for a second we were a little confused about what was considered shareable versus a one person dish, but our server was amazing and stayed to explain everything to us. (Apparently most are shareable depending on your appetite) We added a couple drinks to our tab. I tried the blended specials margarita with tajin on the rim and my husband ordered a blended Sex on the Beach. I'll give it a 9 out of 10 only because the bendy heart straws were super cute but kind of a mess to drink out of. We also ordered the Mr and Mrs Crab shots. They weren't anything too special but the flavor was still decent. Both my kids ordered from the kids menu and I was honestly impressed by how good their food looked. My son had the fried shrimp with mac and cheese and my daughter ordered the chicken wings. The portions were great and the quality was impressive. Truthfully it is one of the better kids menus I've seen in a while. 10/10 no notes. Now for the main event. My husband ordered the #Crabfam Classic and I built my own boil with snow crab, mussels, head off shrimp, potatoes, corn, and an egg. We both chose the Mr and Mrs Crab seasoning at a medium heat level and we were not disappointed. I have not had seafood this good in Utah. Florida girl here with a semi San Francisco husband, so I would say we have standards. The seasoning was perfect and the shrimp was cooked just right. The spice level was spot on, but I think I could have gone even hotter. At the end of it all it only cost $140ish for a full family of 4 and that included drinks, imo a great price for what you get! The overall vibe of the place was great, I drive past this spot all the time and never see many people there. If you are in American Fork or near Lehi High, I definitely recommend giving it a try.

Well the day finally arrived and I opted for takeout. I went with the "Make Your Own Seafood Combo" seafood boil and went with: - Shrimp (head-off) .5 lb - Snow Crab Legs .5 lb - Lobster Tail 6 oz You receive one corn and one potato with this particular combo. You can substitute the potato for an additional corn, and vice versa. You also can add on additional at an extra fee. You get several sauce choices along with spice level preference. I settled on Cajun with Fire (which is supposed to be the spiciest/hottest but I found it to be the weakest out of all the seafood boil restaurants that I've tried). Was definitely more medium spice level than the HOTTEST that I requested. The snow crab legs and lobster tail were both delicious and had a lot of meat to be found in both. The shrimp didn't seem to be cooked very well. Even after peeling and taking off the tails it was still quite a bit crunchy. I had requested utensils/napkins, and absolutely nothing was received (so I thanked God I had visited Red Lobster previously and they had given me a reusable plastic crab leg cracker with my previous meal there) otherwise I would have been stumped cracking legs all night long! For the prices at Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood, I really was not that impressed. The fact they only give you one corn (I couldn't care less for the one red potato) and the fact they don't include any utensils or napkins (as this meal is VERY messy) is a complete turn off because the restaurant can definitely afford to compensate. Overall I'd rate them a 3.5, but since that's not possible, I'll round up to a 4 as the lobster tail and snow crab legs were delicious.
