The food was so good! We got the pescado en salsa de mariscos & mixto ceviche and they were absolutely delicious. We went on a Friday night and got sat and received waters quickly. This is the best Peruvian restaurant you'll find in Utah. Rubi's has a casual vibe that's great for dates or bigger get-togethers. I came with my friend and we were excited about the food. The ceviche was so fresh and tasted like the ceviche I had in DC and Miami. The pasta en salsa de mariscos was fantastic as well. The noodles were cooked al dente and the sauce was creamy and flavorful. I do wish there were more mussels, but the portion was huge. I also ordered the passionfruit juice and that tasted heavenly. Rubi's Peruvian Taste was such a pleasant and tasty surprise! We were starving and saw this non descipt restaurant in a small strip mall. The restaurant was bustling at 5 pm on a Saturday. The restaurant is family run, another great sign, with some of the friendliest employees. Of course the highlight was the food. We started with the ceviche de pescado which was so good! I could've drank the broth it came in it was that good. It was filled with big chunks of fish, corn, onions, a chunk of sweet potato and a side of dried corn to add a nice crunch. We also got Rubi's famous causa relleno which when it first came out didn't look like anything special but it had such a great flavor with shredded chicken inside, layers of what tasted like mashed potatoes topped with a boiled egg wedge. For our entree we split the frejoles con seco which consisted of slow cooked beef, with Canarian beans and white rice. Ask for a side of the house made green hot sauce for an extra kick. I love Peruvian so it was nice to find one here in SLC and has now become one of my top ten favorite restaurants in the city. read more

Looking for a great Peruvian restaurant? This is easily one of the best in the valley. Great flavors, Fredy taste and friendly staff. I've known about this restaurant for a long time, but never made it over here. That was definitely a mistake. The ratings definitely speak for themselves, and you can see that everyone enjoys the flavors. I tried the classic dishes of lomo saltado and ají de gallina, they did not disappoint. If you're not sure what to order, both of them are fantastic choices. I would describe the Aji de gallina as a universal comfort food, a cream based sauce with chicken and rice. They did a great job packing in all the flavor. The interior of the restaurant is simple, with some artwork on the walls. Oh my goodness this food was soo good. We walked in and were able to pick our table and we were brought waters pretty quickly and the servers were very attentive and the food was so good. I ordered the Tallarin Verde con Bistec and the pesto Alfredo steak and potatoes were just perfect. I was visiting Salt Lake City and randomly looked up Peruvian food restaurants. I was surprised to see so many. We decided to pick this place for lunch because it looked very authentic. I was a little disappointed that they no longer had some of the decorations like the large stuffed llama shown in other Yelp reviews. Their menu did have my favorite dish arroz con pollo. I would say the arroz con pollo was a very good portion for the price and tasted good. The papa a la huancaina did not have much flavor like what I am used to eating. I stopped by about a year ago and never got to write a review until now. I had just moved from a big city on the east coast with lots of great Peruvian food. So I was excited to try this! Well, I got the chaufa, which is normally something you can't mess up, and it was not good. It was flavorless, a bit overdone, and I ended up getting a stomach ache from it. I was very disappointed. I dined in and I chose to order the Causa Rellena and Lomo Saltado, even though it's so much food for one person. I wanted to try both after reading good things. The causa came out and the first thing I noticed and loved was that they made it heart-shaped (so cute). I wasn't expecting this dish to be cold, so that surprised me, but it was very good. It's like two layers of lemony mashed potatoes sandwiching a center of a chicken salad. The lomo saltado was flavorful, meat cooked perfectly, and hot & fresh.
