And along the way, they managed to break some of my furniture, and threw away some obvious keepsakes, like an embroidered elephant I got from Stitch Buffalo. One of my dining chairs had a loose crossbar, which they threw away, so I now need to replace my pair of chairs. They somehow managed to break a wheel clean off of my microwave cart -- the wheels lock, and my guess is that they tried to move it, and when it didn't roll, instead of picking it up, they gave it a hard shove. They left it propped up with a couple of my cookbooks. And for some reason they took apart my paper towel holder, and apparently threw away the screw that holds it together -- minor, but that's a trip to Home Depot, if I can find a screw that fits, and it's replacing the holder if not. I may find more damage as I reorganize, for all I know. They didn't offer any kind of refund/discount, and didn't even *apologize* for breaking things they clearly knew they had broken. I couldn't shop around, because Kleen Scene was the only company I could find that would clean my house while it had bedbugs (ugh, yes, bedbugs), and I had to have it done, but for $3200, it seems like people could be careful enough not to break a person's furniture. It feels like kicking a person when she's already obviously down, you know? If you need a place cleared out completely, these may be the guys for you, but if you need care taken with possessions you want to keep, maybe not.

It was beyond petty that I was charged for a second room because of a small landing from my kitchen. BUYING NEW SHOES IS FOR SUCKERS…read more Why on Earth would anyone throw out a pair of old shoes because the soles had worn when the Village Cobbler can fix them for you for dirt cheap, and possibly even improve them? I brought in a pair of Merrill hiking boots I use for work. I love these boots. They're comfortable, lightweight and have a Gore-Tex liner in them. I have had them for years, and the soles where run down so thin that everywhere I walked you'd swear I was walking on banana peels. Village Cobbler was able to removed the stock soles and installed for me -- get this -- rocket power boot soles that allow me to fly around like Iron Man. Ok, they don't sell rocket powered boot soles, unfortunately, but I did get Vibram soles installed for $50. Not a bad deal, right? More importantly, they look and feel great. I was so impressed with the work that I immediately dropped off another pair of boots for another re-sole job. I plan to drop off a third when there finished as well. So, for now I will scratch the rocket boots and stick with the Vibrams.... At least until my FAA license for rocket boots gets approved, and I can afford to pay off the loan on my coffin.

This time I had LOTS so I thought I'd give it a try. This business is unusual in that the business operates out of the building's side entrance. Parking is adequate, especially since the turn over rate here is surprising. I was met at the door by two very friendly employees who explained how this system works. They do everything. Just hand them the bags and stand back. The system operates so quickly that I was just barely able to keep up bringing bags in. The system is totally automated. Once the workers empty the bags into the sorting area everything is automatic. It's really amazing to watch as the bottles and cans are arranged and processed to a conveyor belt that takes them away. Everything is counted by computer. When finished, you're given a ticket that you take to a window where you are paid. Start to finish, 779 bottles and cans were processed in 6 minutes including getting paid I will never go anywhere else again.

I texted him the photos and gave him the name of my insurance adjuster. Kevin took care of the rest and told me they could arrive by 745pm. By 715 Kevin and his son Jake were in my driveway. I had moved most things from the basement, but they assisted with the rest. Both Kevin and Jake were professional and completely transparent on all work being done. They spent 3.5 hours removing carpet, all carpet glue from the concrete, sanitizing the floor, and then ensuring all fans and dehumidifiers were running and waited 20 minutes just making sure the breakers did not trip. Bonus...they completely cleaned the stairs going down to the basement and the landing, unexpected and completely appreciated. I see one star reviews here...and that is why I felt it was important that I leave my experience. This company was one of the best I have seen. I have done disaster remediation work myself...and they were meticulous and thorough in their work. They were pleasant, honest and transparent on pricing.
